We had a great experience with LCSH! My son was there for about 2 years starting when he was 7 months old. It was a very sad day when we moved out of state and had to find a new daycare. All of the teachers were wonderful and developed a great relationship with my son. Would recommend.

Our family cannot recommend Little Children Schoolhouse (LCSh) highly enough. The LCSh motto is your extended family and it has truly felt this way for the last 6 years we have been sending our children there. They have attended the Harvard Street and Washington Street locations. From the young infant class through pre-K, the teachers have been warm, loving, and fantastic educators. Our older child graduated this summer and transitioned seamlessly to Kindergarten after phenomenal pre-Kindergarten instruction. We have worked most closely with daycare director, Gladys, who responds to all communication promptly and addresses questions with a wealth of knowledge and reassurance. They ensure that each child receives the care and attention that he or she needs and it is evident in each classroom that everyone who works there cares deeply about children.Given that we are writing this in 2021, we would be remiss not to mention the pandemic. LCSh has done an excellent job following COVID-related public health protocols and kept us informed of any changes in daily routines due to the circumstances of the pandemic. We have felt very safe having our children there during this time.We are glad that we have not yet had to say goodbye, with our younger child still in preschool there!

We enrolled our daughter at LCSh when she was 4 months old. She was in the young infant class (32 Harvard St. location) with Escarlet and Cristina. They were absolutely wonderful!!They eased our new parent anxiety and took such great care of our LO. They mostly speak Spanish so we picked some up along the way. The director Gladys is great and very hands on. It was clear that our LO was loved and pampered! The only reason we left is because we left the area. We interviewed a few nearby daycares before picking LCSh and couldnt have been happier with our choice. Seriously mama, breathe and go with them you won’t regret it.

My son lights up and smiles every time we walk in the door and he sees his teachers/friends. Gladys and her staff are SO amazing and caring and really do treat your baby like family. So thankful we found this daycare.

We are finishing up an 8-year run with Little Children Schoolhouse, starting with our first kid at 10 months. He went all the way through pre-K and then our second kid went from 6 months through pre-K.We started our first kid at another center in Brookline and were really unhappy with the way the directors of the other school treated the teachers. We switched to LCSh because of how wonderful the owners/directors, Gladys and Lissy, are, both with the teachers and with the kids. With LCSh, I always knew that my kids would be well-cared for, loved even, and happy. The teachers really are terrific. Both kids started/are starting public school with a solid academic base. My second kid also has severe food allergies and the teachers were wonderful about keeping him safe, without excluding him from the other kids during meals.

My first daughter started as a Toddler as I was nervous to start her in day care however when I met Lissy and the teachers i was at such ease that I made the righty decision. My second kid started as an infant and I couldn’t have asked for a better place. Everyone is so welcoming from Juan to Lissy and all of the teachers. At every transition i would get nervous as I would think my kid will not have a better teacher in the new classroom and yet everytime I would be surprised. Teachers love the kids and nurture them so it feels like a family vibe. We are saddened to be leaving but this place will always feel like family. Thank you!

We love Little Children’s Schoolhouse! We sent two kids there – one from 18 months through Pre-K and one from 3 months to 2 years (we only left since we moved away from the area). The staff and teachers are wonderful and very loving to the kids. They have helped us navigate some big things, from potty training to the “terrible threes”, to preparing our older son for the arrival of his baby brother. The facility is very clean and the children spend a lot of time outside, which we love. The owners (Gladys and Lissy) are very responsive. We have met a lot of very nice families there as well and it’s a great little community. They use the Brightwheels app to send you messages and updates throughout the day, and we especially love getting pictures of the kids having fun with their friends. We were especially grateful and impressed with LCSH for their incredible work during the COVID pandemic. This time has been very hard on all of us. But because of the dedication and creativity (and exhaustive cleaning) of the LCSH team, we have felt very comfortable sending our children to the school. It’s really been a wonderful experience sending our kids there.

I was nervous about sending my 3 year-old daughter to a larger daycare when we moved to Boston, but LCSH has really become our extended family over the past 2 years she has been there. The teachers cared for my daughter as if she were their own with patience and love, and she was able to make great friends in a supportive environment even though she is shy. I was very happy with the academic curriculum as well. I am a scientist and doctor, but was never really exposed to the scientific method until middle school. However, the LCSH preschool does weekly science experiments while teaching kids the scientific method including hypothesis generation, gathering data, and generating a thesis for simple experiments. In addition, my daughter didnt have motivation to learn how to read at home, but LCSH made reading fun, so now my daughter is reading short words, and even some in Spanish. This is pretty cool and advanced stuff for pre-K, and my daughter is now excited about science/reading and is more prepared for kindergarten than I ever was. I would 10/10 recommend LCSH to any parent for all kids with all learning types.

Our daughter went to Little Children’s schoolhouse for her first 4 months of daycare, both in the little infants room and the larger infants room. We would have loved to keep her there longer, but were moving out of the area. The staff at Little Children’s are excellent, they are very caring and our daughter was very happy there. Little Children’s uses the Brightwheel app to give you updates and photos of your child throughout the day, it was great and gave us extra peace of mind that she was doing well. Highly recommend Little Children’s.

Little Childrens is a fantastic childcare facility. The teachers and administrative staff did an amazing job caring for our kids. Our son and daughter were enrolled in full time daycare from 15 months old to 3.5 years old. They have grown and learned so much! We will greatly miss everyone there. We loved the app they use to keep us updated with what our kids are doing throughout the day. We get pictures of the different activities they are doing, notes about what they are learning, and reminders to bring specific necessities from home such as an extra pair of clothes, new bottle of sunscreen, etc. I highly recommend Little Childrens Schoolhouse to anyone in the area looking for childcare!

I cannot say enough positive things about LCSH!! Our daughter attended from 4mo - 18mo and it truly helped shape her into the kid she is today. The teachers are warm, engaging, and affectionate with the kids. They celebrate the kids growth and victories, and take care to teach them something new every day. Gladys is wonderful and so responsive, she made the visitation and enrollment process easy and made sure we stayed informed and connected as the COVID crisis developed. For anyone looking for daycare in Brookline or surrounding communities, I highly recommend the Little Children Schoolhouse. I knew from the moment I met with the director, Gladys, that I wanted to enroll our son at LCSh. The teachers are incredibly nurturing and kind. On multiple occasions, they went above and beyond what anyone would expect from a daycare teacher. Gladys is there each morning to greet you and is available for any questions and assistance that you might need. We loved seeing pictures each day of him with his little friends at the playground, art projects, and circle time. The teachers keep the children very busy with lots of outdoor time and activities. Even during difficult circumstances of COVID, Gladys and her team have taken every precaution and we never had any concerns about sending our son to LCSh when they reopened in late June. Had we not moved out of state, we would have kept our son enrolled until he aged out. Our son loved the teachers and his friends and I can’t recommend it enough.

Little Childrens Schoolhouse is a great daycare. Our daughter went to LCS from 6 months to 2 years 4 months. The only reason we are leaving LCS is because we are moving out of state. LCS was great and our daughter and us are going to miss them a lot. The best thing is the people, all the teachers and administration are truly caring, loving and patient. You can tell that the teachers care about each kid and enjoy what they do. The facility is clean, they keep updated with activities. Each class has unique activities for the age of the group. Every time our daughter moved to the next class, it was sad because she loved her class but every time it was a good change because they kept incorporating new learning activities for the kids and the transition was always smooth and she would get used to and love the new class. It was also very nice the activities and events that were organized before COVID. There was a Mothers day breakfast, the Halloween parade was my favorite. The other thing that is great is that the daycare is bilingual, most of the teachers are bilingual. They play Spanish songs and they teach them colors, numbers and basic things in Spanish and English. We are really going to miss LCS and it did feel like an extended family.

Please, please do not let the 5 star ratings fool you. If anything, I would be wary of the perfect rating. This is a daycare located right next to a cannabis dispensary. The building is old and not spacious at all, and most of the staff are not professionally trained and many do not speak English at all. I do not mean to be offensive, but how can they communicate with your child at all? The convenience of this daycare is mostly for professionals working in the Longwood medical area. If you want to find a daycare in a safer building and location with personable staff trained to care for your children, then please look elsewhere. We are glad we did.

I am leaving this negative review so that no parent goes through what I had gone through with this daycare. While there are some very caring teachers here, there have been others that seemed not well trained. I received inconsistent feedback about my childs development and behavior from Lissy, who is listed as an educator, not a developmental specialist. This caused me significant anxiety and concern about my child, and so I immediately took him to see his pediatrician and developmental specialist. What caused us more confusion was that Lissy gave us information that contradicted the doctor and specialists recommendations. After finding a different day care, I found out that better trained staff using a different approach with my child made an astounding difference in how his development and behavior improved. Not all kids are the same. If your child is not happy for a second, please dont listen to what this school has to say and get your information from trusted resources and find a more suitable school or daycare elsewhere.

My wife and I took our son to Little Children Schoolhouse from 4 months to 19 months. We LOVED it there. The teachers are very sweet, engaging, playful, and truly care about their students. It was heart warming seeing how well our son interacted with the teachers and how much they teachers genuinely enjoyed engaging with my son and the other students. My wife and I were always surprised when every teacher in the school knew our sons name and wanted to engage with him whenever they saw him. We loved the exposure he received to both English and Spanish while he was there. The curriculum was thoughtful and developmental. The administration was incredibly responsive, engaged, and sent us the right amount of updates on how our son was doing. Great locations and would highly recommend!

My daughter attended LCS since 2 month old until she went to kindergartens at 5 years and a half. She made many friends there and had acquired a lot of skills and memories that she will cherish for very long time. They are open for summer and also no need to look for an aftershool program while some pre-school/pre-K do. As a full time working mother, I have had positive experiences with their operation overall.

Both of my kids went all the way through Little Childrens Schoolhouse, infant room through graduating pre-K (3 months-near 6 years), and it deserves more than five stars. The best two attributes of LCSH are, first, the loving teachers are appropriately teaching at each class. For instance, as a new mom, I appreciated the infant teachers who guided me on setting a routine, amount of food, developmentally-appropriate toys, etc. In the preschool room, the teachers potty-trained my kids. At the pre-K level, the teachers encouraged kids’ learning and curiosity for science, math, reading, and writing, while at the same time emphasized kindness and responsibility for one’s young self.Second, I loved the staff and how they understood that, as two working parents, we relied upon the school being open. The school has the best hours around (7am-6pm) and really tried hard to remain open during inclement weather and holidays (often open when Brookline public schools were closed) and taking necessary safety precautions to open during covid. My kids loved attending LCSH and met really good friends along the way, some of whom will be friends for years to come. Do not hesitate enrolling here. Eight and one-half years ago, I had no idea what a positive impact LCSH would have on my family.

Our son was at the school from 12 months to 4.5 years (recently left September 2017). We are both full time working parents and having the right fit was important to us. We do not live close to the school but made the commute work because of the program they offer. We were at another school prior that was closer to our home and had switched to Little Children Schoolhouse due to a variety of reasons including communication, teacher stability and curriculum. We were very happy with our experience. They have a monthly curriculum which they stick to and also have outside folks come in to add to the learning (music, yoga, etc). Overall, the teachers provided a very nice balance between a learning, loving, caring and nurturing environment. We always felt free to talk to the teachers to find out about our sons day and anything we should be aware of. They also provided a report on our sons development at different stages of his time. During our time there we developed a friendly relationship with many of their staff and found that to be reassuring given the amount of time our son had spent with them.Wed definitely recommend considering them to other families.

Little Children Schoolhouse is the BEST that happened to us. The teachers and the staff is amazing, extremely kind and loving, our soon started 2 months ago and after a week he was so happy running into the classroom, the transition schedule to adapt to the new environment worked very well. He is in the toddler class, learning songs, he is very happy. The teachers are bilingual; but the most important for me has been all the LOVE and CARE that they bring to my kid every day, they are like a family. He wasn’t a good eater when he started and now with love and patience now he is doing great.I also like that they have an outdoor playground where all the classes enjoy, each class has a schedule to use it.You will fall in love with the people and the good care that they provide to your child.

We sent two children (of VERY different temperaments) through LCSH over the course of five years, one entering as a preschooler and the other as a young toddler.Little Children Schoolhouse is a family in every way -- from the two wonderful sisters who lead it, on through the attentive and affectionate teachers, and finally with the children who care so much for each other. We are sad to move on, but so grateful to have found such a nurturing, diverse, and happy school for our children to grow up in.They are accommodating of each childs individual needs and strengths, and are resourceful in making sure that all their students feel joyful and safe. They take seriously their role in developing budding students, and our children left with great school skills and an appreciation for natural science.Whether your child is shy, anxious, or outgoing, LCSH will take wonderful care of them.

My wife and I took our son to LCSH (Harvard St.) from the time he was 5 months old until he turned 2. We were very happy with the school and staff as it truly was a family atmosphere for us. We recently had to move him to another school in Needham and with this perspective we can provide an even better comparison of the two schools. The plusses: 1) LCSH takes their kids outside for walks almost every day, enjoying the many nearby parks. 2) Drop offs are very easy as the teachers do a great job of welcoming you when you enter this room (strangely, this is not the norm compared to his current school) 3) The curriculum has the right amount of structure, allowing the kids to learn through fun activities 4) The cost is less expensive than many others that we looked at in Needham. The minuses: 1) Parents have to pack all of the lunches and snacks 2) Parking in front of the school usually fills up in the evening, but there are usually plenty of other options nearby.

The teachers in the infant and toddler classrooms are amazing - incredibly loving and nurturing. They provide a stimulating environment for them to learn and grow, both inside the classroom and outdoors. As long as the weather cooperates, the kids are outside 1-2 times daily. The teachers helped strategize through issues as they came up and were truly like an extended family. The directors communicated regularly and were quick to respond any time we reached out to them. We have a two year old daughter that joined LCSH when she was almost 3 months old. While I was still pregnant we started looking at different places in Brookline (where we both work with my husband) or Cambridge (where we live). We were looking for a place that was safe for our baby and where she would get all the love and attention that she would get if she had spent her day with us.We decided on LCSH because at the day of our tour we walked into a spacious infant classroom, with various activity stations, happy little monkeys on the walls, full of smiling little babies and 3 wonderful and loving teachers that caught our attention straight away with their calm, affectionate and soothing ways. Gladys (the director) was very welcoming and she knew all the parents and babies names, and could discuss details about each babys routine.Looking back now, and unfortunately ready to leave Boston, we are so happy to have made this choice. At the infant classroom, Claire, Neris, Urda and Rosa took excellent care of our baby!!They were always so happy to see her and would be so loving and caring all the time. They would always spend the time during drop off and at pick up to discuss with us how her day was, never in a hurry and always here to help. Our baby greatly benefited from the routine! The last year she has been in the young toddler classroom and it has been amazing too. She has learned so many things, she loves her teachers and she has become a happy little chatterbox! :) She enjoys so much her routine, there is always a new fun activity for the day and at pick up she is always so happy explaining what she did in the day (water table, painting project, pajama day, singing with Jean!)She loves her teachers and we love them too! Maribel (Mimi), Alba, Rositta, Lisette, Lissy, Clara, Zoe, Paula are really great and you can see from the way they interact with the babies that they really love what they are doing! In conclusion, we highly recommend LCSH!! The environment is great, the curriculum is comprehensive, the classrooms are so clean but most of all the teachers are excellent! The babies learn so many things, they do such a good job and certainly for us they have become our extended family!!ps. Fun fact: every now and then you get pictures of your little one being busy at the slide, playing or dancing and it is just the cutest thing!! they always made my day!

Extended family is probably the perfect phase to describe how we feel about LCSH!My daughter started LCSH when she was three and has started the first grade this year. She is doing great on all grounds, both academically and socially. She has already won two Principal Super Stars! She loves her teachers at LCSH so much that from time to time she rides with me to visit them when I pick up the other two kids. My son has started Pre-K this fall. He also loves it. My youngest daughter started LCSH when she was 1-year old, at which time she could not yet walk. Now she is walking, and learning all kinds of tricks from the class. I really love it when I see the big smile on her face whenever I drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon! We like LCSH also because it offers a very rich and fun-filled curriculum. Our daughter was very well prepared when she started kindergarten. We are sure this happens to all kids at LCSH. This is another important reason why we have chosen it as THE preschool for our family.

There really is no way for my words to express my gratitude and happiness with our families experience with Little Children’s schoolhouse. As a first time mom, with no family in close proximity—LCSH filled the void of support and guidance on so many levels.Looking back I remember the stress and anxiety that went along with choosing child care for my precious little girl. At the time she seemed so precious I couldn’t imagine anyone but myself and husband caring for her. We interviewed nannies, viewed in home daycare, and toured many daycares. What I often saw was bored children or caretaker’s that looked disengaged and exhausted. To my husband’s credit he stumbled upon a review of LCSH. We set up a visit. To walk into an infant room, with 8 little babies, see them all awake, and not hear one child crying and to see genuine love from all the caretakers sold me immediately. Beyond what I saw with my own eyes were incredible interactions with every teacher, and parent that passed by. Every parent we spoke with gushed about what a wonderful daycare this was. After over 3 years of being part of the LCSH I am telling you, set up a tour. You can see the difference.Allison, Gladys, Lissy and everyone else for that matter has been beyond amazing. We feel so fortunate for the first 3 years of our little girl’s life she received exceptional care, exceptional experiences, and genuine love in our absence during the day. To drop your child off with no tears and have them run into their teachers arms for me—invaluable. It told me how happy, secure, and safe she felt with all of her teacher’s and friends. She never noticed I was gone and often now she talks about going to school even on the weekend! In addition the curriculum, schedule, and calendar planning and educational exercises they keep the children submerged in are awesome. The entire team at LCSH works so hard to provide safe, clean and engaging environments for all the kids. Our little one loved music class in every room she was in and I personally find the yoga classes adorable and amazing! To have a toddler who has learned speak in both English and Spanish, and appreciate the amazing differences in all cultures is incredible. What LCSH has provided for our family and child has been more than I could have ever hoped for. I will sing praises for LCSH for as long as I possibly can, I am eternally grateful to them for the love and wonderful care they have provided for our child.
