I hate to leave bad reviews however, I was referred by a friend who attended Lee Institute almost a decade ago and Im assuming things have changed since he attended back then. I paid $390.00 for a live class and got a used book which was fine because it wasnt damaged. The week my class was supposed to start I got a phone call that I was the only one who signed up and that theyre moving to Norwood. I was upset however I was told I could do the online course instead. I try to call for a week straight and I got no answer, the calls were even canceled after 1-3 rings. I finally got a hold of the guy that works there via email and he called me back. I asked him to explain the online course and he keot talking around my questions and he was difficult to deal with. I finally had enough and asked for a refund. The guy that works there told me to come in before 2:00pm and as long as my book wasnt damaged, I could get my full refund.I knew on the way to the class that he was going to say the book was damaged because at this point the class seemed like a scam. Of course, he said the book was damaged, however I took a picture the day I got it and showed him.. He got really mad and threw the book in his closet, told me I have a bad attitude, and gave me a refund. The refund didnt show up on my card and he shut the window on my face saying, Do not call us, call your bank! Now, I know that I have been scammed and I was really upset. I called the police because I knew he would call if I went back and asked for my refund. The police couldnt help because it was a civil matter however, I knew the guy working there would call them on me. He called and the same police officer came upstairs. He called his credit/debit card machine and they said they issued the refund. I still havent received my money and Im very upset that theres people out there trying to scam you instead of trying to help you learn something. If you want your real estate license, please look at the reviews and do your research before you hand somebody money. Its unfortunate, its sad, and Im not going to let it get in my way of achieving my goals.Theres two sides to every story and from reading the previous reviews that are similar to mine, Im sure the guy that works there is going to respond with a different story. I have nothing to lie about and I was scammed. Please do not waste your money, they will not answer you and you will just upset yourself.

Ive already stated my grievances on my regular account. I still havent gotten my refund and small claims will not help you out with the new state laws. This class is a scam and I had to actually call the cops. It was embarassing and this place is awful. The guy working there will pretend hes trying to help you however, he will tell you that the class doesnt have enough people and scam you. It was so embarassing.

I paid extra to get an in-person learning experience at Lee Institute for my Salespersons License course. I liked hearing about real-life real estate transactions from an experienced professional, hence the 2 stars. The class also discussed MA-specific regulations. However, the class was poorly managed and our discussions were often off topic. The worst part has been finding errors in the book while I try to study independently. Do not study with the book given in class! Go buy your own book or google every term. A lot of things didn’t make sense (like the meanings of the warranty covenants) and I’d google them just to find that the explanations of what they are in the book are totally wrong.

Kimberly was more than helpful and she went far and beyond to help me with my free practice exam questions that was included with my course. The school is in a great location very convenient to public transportation. I would recommend this school to my friends and anyone interested in pursuing a career in real estate. The instructor does have a lot of humor in his class. I found that the humor makes time go faster and makes the class more entertaining although some people may get offended. Overall great school and great staff.

Rich the incompetent owner told my class If you fail the test come back for free and take it again! Well, I failed the test. I called back and he lied and said he didnt say that and made a bunch of excuses to me. He tried to charge me if I wanted the material he promised. He also gave me my license without completing the full 40 hours. This place is a joke. Horrible customer service too! So rude. Go anywhere else!!!

Great Place! Friendly supportive staff. Shout out to Rich, Kim and Joe. From the moment I walked in to enquire about the 4 Day (40hour) Sales Person licence course, I had the most positive feeling about this place. The course is informative and well structured. The Lee Institute text book and the lecture slides work very well together. You are briefed right from the start what the expectations are to pass the exam. Guidance from the instructors complement the course material perfectly. IF you read the chapters and do the practice tests you will do great on the exam.

I did an online broker course here and was very happy with them. It was so convenient because I was able to do it in my home saving commute time. And when I needed any assistance, Lee Institute was easy to reach via online or phone. And the courses were easy to follow and understand. Most importantly the course came with very helpful notes/study guide and I was able to pass my Brokers exam on my first try. I would definitely go back for my continuing classes.

I paid in full for the online course because I got bought in the flexibility and the feature of which, on the web portal, there has been built-in a floating window in the corner to encourage students to communicate questions alongside the coursework. I never knew it was not that technologically advanced until I hit the bumps when I tried to get the schools support. They expected me to organize all your questions once -in-all through email and asked me to plan my time according to their appointed staff to hold the call for walking through the questions. That was pretty non-flexible but still was acceptable as long as they helped me out sincerely. But in fact, the instructor called me in the middle of the day and of course I missed the call. what I received was a strong attitude directly blaming me that I was wasting his time when I returned the call. For the questions I emailed accordingly, 9 out of 10 times I received no reply. I have to say it was an unbelievably low level of customer and after-sales service that I had ever experienced! Basically they left me an impression as we took your money gave your material and now you are on you own, being able to pass the test or not its totally up to your learning ability. As I was shopping for schools, they were blowing me away with a lot of good features and services that they would provide to online students now all proved to be BS. For the future buyers, if you still want to choose Lee Institute , just buy their Groupon at $135, get the material and study by yourself after the 40-hour speed run of the class. Dont expect them to serve any of your reasonable need after the class. The online course is absolutely not recommended, just because its not worth of your$400 at all. By the way, the reception lady is the worst customer service person ever!! She hung up on me rudely almost every time when I asked her to facilitate the communication with the instructors since I could not get a hold of anyone of them.

DO NOT ATTEND THIS CLASS. Depending on instructor you will not learn a DAMMN thing! While very friendly people they are however extremely unprofessional. I attended all 4 days and signed all 4 attendance sheets. And some how at the end of of the course I was marked as missing two days I attended and was told there would be no one to speak with until Monday. On Monday I came to the office location and wait an hour outside during their business hours and no one was there nor was I able to reach anybody helpful by phone. Save your self the head ache do not do business with this school... since I cannot reply to the comment made below I’ve decided to Rebuttal on my original post. Why is it that I have my certificate for completing the course if I missed two days Do I need to upload that my certificate on here as well. if I didn’t attend all the days You would have been violating Massachusetts law by giving me certificate. Either your lying or you were breaking the law when you gave me my certificate. I was only able to obtain my certificate after I had to the secretary’s job for her and physically point out on all 4 attendance sheets where my name was at. Furthermore I completely left out how the cooky elderly secretary wrongfully called the police on me because she lacked the clerical experience necessary to handle a customer service issue. And she clearly has a problem with all college educating non threatening people of color because I was told by one of the stylist at the hair salon next door that this was not the first she had behaved in that manner. And to add insults to injury the gentleman who runs the entire program called my cell phone after the incident yelling at me when he was no there for the the incident. Once again DO YOUR SELF THE FAVOR AND DO NOT ATTEND THIS CLASS. DO NOT TRY AND SAVE A FEW BUCKS AND ATTEND An ACTUAL REPUTABLE REAL ESTATE SCHOOL

I learned about Lee Institute from a broker who went to Lee Institute many years ago. My experience taking the salesperson course at lee institute was awesome! I really like Peter Camarras style of teaching. He doesnt sugar coat anything. Having him as our instructor was worth every dollar. I didnt know what to expect since I had never taken a real estate class but I was a bit worried Id get bored being in a class two weekends in a row. Peter kept it fun and his sense of humor had my husband and I wide awake the whole class. The class goes by real fast so its good to take notes. He tells you some things that might be on the licensing exam and gives you a sheet of paper with terms to study. I totally recommend Lee institute to anyone thats looking to become a real estate agent.

Just passed my real estate salesperson test after taking a class last month at the Lee Institute. Cant say enough about how well prepared I was after taking the Lee program. Everything the instructors said would be on the test was on the test. I also purchased the Lee practice exams offered at a very generous discount after completing the class. The practice tests were excellent preparation for the content on the actual tests. I used these almost exclusively in the two days leading up to my exam and I was generally not surprised with anything I eventually saw on the test.A couple of observations on what you NEED to know: forms of ownership and the differences between tenants in common, joint tenants, tenants at will, the differences between various deeds and the technicalities of contracts, and dont overlook the MA environmental regs - lead paint, radon, sewer, etc. My test alone had no less than 4 questions speific to lead paint. And dont get spooked by the math. I found it not to be a prominent part of the test. I would say roughly 4-5 questions with only maybe 2 of those of the more complex word problem variety. In short, everything you need to know to pass these tests easily are covered in detail in the Lee class...well worth it!!!

Just took a great 40-hour audio class for Brokers. I didnt have the consolidated time to do the 10-hour days for class instruction. They had this option and after taking it, Im glad I did since I could span it over a 3-week period while still doing my full-time job responsibilities.I also came BACK to Lee Institute since this is where I took my sales training and passed the test the first time. They also mention in the course specific things to look for in the test and also questions that may be asked to trip you up. Taking the audio class also gives you time to take the quizzes at the end of each chapter when it is fresh.

If I could give zero stars I would. Signed up for a course and paid in full.. the day it was supossed to start the class was cancelled due to lack of participants.. understandable, no big deal. Until the experience I had trying to contact someone about a refund. Every single person I talked to had no information for me and told me there was only one person who knew how to refund, Richard. Come to find out he is the president of the school and a hard man to contact and doesnt return messages. After two weeks of calling, leaving messages and never hearing back, I finally got him on the phone. He was rude, unprofessional, and HUNG UP ON ME. It took over two weeks to get my refund back. He told me on the phone only three people signed up for the course... how hard would it have been to take the time to call those THREE people and let them know they will receive their money and do so in a timely manner?? Its not like it was a cheap course.. $390!!! Completely unprofessional... DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY!!

There are a lot of schools that offer Real Estate classes and Im sure they are all better than this one. I signed up for a class and then found out a couple of days later that I would be moving to another state and might be coming back in six months. I called and was told I could put my account on hold for a year. If I did come back in six months I could take the class then, if I did not come back I would be refunded my money. My move ended up being permanent so I called to get my money refunded. Every time I called I was rudely told to call back and speak to a different person. After eventually speaking to what must have been every employee I was finally told that they didnt care what I had been promised they werent going to refund my money.

The course is very easy to navigate and I highly recommend Lee Institue to anyone looking to get their Real Estate License. It is time for me to start working on credit hours for my license renewal and I will definitely use Lee Institue. Thank you to Lee Institute for making it so easy!

Thank you Lee Institute!I finished my four day 40 hour classes for Real Estate about a month ago, and last week I passed my exam on the first try! Thats amazing considering the testing center (not lee) charges you $50 to retake the exam if you fail. The course material of course is tedious, but the classes kept my attention and I felt that the explanations were extremely helpful because I learned things I couldnt learn straight from a book. The instructors laid out exactly what I needed to know, and made further studying very simple. The textbook that Lee gave us was priceless, everything on the exam was in the book, and the chapter questions helped me SO much. The resources they gave as handouts were helpful too, as I found the final prep test was very similar to the actual exam and helped me prepare. Ill be back for further education, and wont consider any other places!

So I posted a review on yelp that I 100% stand behind! Called to ask questions about protocol for a storm and what would happen if the class was cancelled because my drive to the class was an hour. The woman who answered the phone was nothing but rude. So I show up at class the next day to find out the “president” Rich had removed me from the class. NOT ONLY DID THE ENTIRE CLASS SHOW UP BEFORE 9 for a 9am class and force to wait in the snow, no one showed up until almost 10, saying they sent out an email saying class would start later, however NOT ONE PERSON RECIEVED AM EMAIL. As I sit down in class to upload my ebook, it tells my registration had been cancelled. Only mine. When asking the same rude woman from the phone call th day before why it was saying that online she told me “Rich did that. He’s not very happy and wants to talk to you he will be here soon. IM SORRY IF I WAS RUDE ON THE PHONE.” So after waiting for fifteen minutes I go back to the woman and ask if he has showed up yet when at this point in time she says “ no and ITS NOT GOING TO BE PRETTY WHEN RICH GETS HERE” over and over and how “rich didn’t like your review it was false.” So how is that when you apologized to me prior for being rude! This is America lady I’m entitled to my opinions and reviews. Everything was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AS SHE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE BEST IF I LEFT! There’s a million places who teach this course. Don’t waste your time here. All the other reviews are accurate and I experienced it first had. Knew I wouldn’t get a refund from them so contacted Groupon about it and said they are looking into the company and the complaints they have recieved about it and had no problem refunding me. Also my real name is ALLISON GRAY. Just so he can’t say I’m not a real person. I most certainly am.

Not professional, not a good class, terrible professor.I attended the Lee Institute for their 40 hour real estate course offered over one weekend. The first three days were horrible, I was very disappointed with the instructor Peter. I learned nothing about real estate, his explanation of terms was very hard to follow. He did not work out of the book, and was very difficult to understand. When he wrote on the board it was illegible. If someone in the class would ask a question he would yell at them and say they were stupid and not answer the question. He would repeatedly say people were stupid, swear and use discriminatory language and jokes. He spoke more about politics and how to work your taxes around the IRS than anything to do with real estate. Most of what he did was answer the questions in the back of the chapter by reading the question and saying the answer. This class was a way for him to sit in front of an audience and spew his opinions on various topics that are not appropriate to discuss in a classroom and not relevant to real estate. On the fourth day there was a miscommunication and there was no instructor when the class started. Miscommunications happen, not a big deal and its understandable. What is not understandable is the way the situation was handled. Upon waiting for a half an hour someone called the phone number listed for the school. The student told the woman on the phone that we were at the school with no instructor and wanted to make them aware. The woman told her she would leave a message and call her back when she got in touch with someone. After thirty more minutes I called the number again. A woman answered and I explained the situation and wanted to know if they had gotten in touch with an instructor. She informed me she was a message taker and all she did was leave a message with the office. I told her we were at the office and no one was there, hence why I was calling her. Her response was I am aware.... I asked is there another number I could call or any other way to get in touch with someone and she said, no I can just leave messages. After two hours and multiple attempts to get ahold of someone Richard called back some of the students to inform them an instructor would be there in about an hour. Richard, the president of the institution, was extremely unprofessional on the phone, also seen in his responses to the negative reviews on YELP. There should not be a messaging service to contact a vacant office in order to say the school isnt open. The instructor who came to cover the class was awesome. Everyone was annoyed that the class started 3 hours late but he got right in and started class. Joe presented the material effectively and in a manner that was easy to understand. I only feel comfortable with the chapters we went over with him. His slides broke down the information in a comprehensive way and he was able to cover the rest of the material we needed to go over. I wish he had taught all four classes because I would have felt like I actually learned something.I used a groupon coupon to take this class. This class is not even remotely worth the full cost of the course, nor is it worth the groupon price. If you can get the groupon call ahead and figure out who will be teaching the course on the days you are looking at. If it is Peter I would say look somewhere else to take this class. They do have their own book which is the only saving grace. After leaving the class at around 3 the first three days I went home and learned the material on my own. Thank you Joe for your professionalism and great breakdown of the material.TLDR; If this is the least expensive option via Groupon I would say go for it but understand you get what you pay for. Peter is a terrible professor who will not prepare you at all. Joe was great. You might have to learn most of the info on your own. Call ahead to see what professor will teach the class you are gonna take.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! STEALS YOUR MONEY!!!!! Horribly unprofessional! I would rate this ZERO stars if that was an option.First of all, I am pretty sure they are stealing my $390 for a course THEY cancelled 3 days before it was suppose to start. BE AWARE OF THIS! I THINK IT’S A SCAM!I signed up for a Real Estate Class they were holding in Westford, MA about a month and 1/2 ago (end of June). I got a call yesterday 8/7/13 at 3pm to inform me that my class that starts on 8/10/13 at 8am is now cancelled. They offered for me to take the class during the week at their Brookline office with some Audio CD Lessons. When I told them I work full time and Brookline is over an hour and 1/2 from me, he then offered me a full reimbursement. He transferred me to Kimberly who told me that unfortunately I would have to call back tomorrow and speak to the President about the reimbursement.Today (8/8/13) I called back at 2:27pm and a women answered (name not given). She rudely told me that she cannot give reimbursements and I would need to speak to the President and he is in class until 10pm. When I told her that I do not want to keep calling back every day with the same response, she said I just answer phones, I can’t be discussing this with you. Call back tomorrow and HUNG UP THE PHONE!!!!After I gathered myself and calmed down for the outburst from this lady when I was being very nice, soft spoken and professional, I call a different Number that called me yesterday. MIRACULOUSLY I got the president directly! When I explained who I was, he immediately cut me off, said oh youre the girl that called yesterday. I was told the reimbursement was already requested, so stop calling and leave me alone. When I tried to explain that the women instructed me that I had to talk to him in order to get a refund he said “I don’t care what you were told. This process can take 3-7 business days - so just calm down and yes, you guessed it! HE HUNG UP THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My question is - How the heck can they give me a reimbursement when they have absolutely no information on me, my account or even my last name! VERY sketchy! I have already called into the MA Licensure Division to put in a formal complaint. If I do not receive my full reimbursement of $390, I plan to move forward legally.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND GO GET YOUR SALESPERSON LICENSE ELSEWHERE! IT IS NOT WORTH IT TO GO THROUGH THEM. RUDE BEYOND BELIEF! AND IF THEY ARE STEALING YOUR MONEY... WHY GO?
