Step By Step has been an integral part of helping our daughter prepare for school. Their support for our family over the years, especially during this most recent and unprecedented school season, has been tremendous. For three years Step By Step provided a supportive, kind, and loving environment for our daughter to thrive and grow. The proof is in the pudding: she is way ahead of classmates academically, is truly mature for her age, and has an incredible sense of autonomy and creativity. We highly recommend Step By Step if you are looking for an educational setting that provides individualized care and community!

Step by step in Brooklyn Park Has had All 4 of my children since they were babies and I absolutely love the care and kindness they show my kids. they made accommodations for my oldest to be picked up for school from their site and they understand the struggle of being a single mom. my youngest is always clean and comfortable when I pick her up and she is fine when I drop her off. The staff members follow the masking protocols to keep the children safe during this pandemic, and they are great with communicating everything to parents no matter how small. my site and the staff have become like family and they really remind you that it takes a village

All of the teachers at Step by Step are outstanding. The director Amy is extremely professional and is 100% dedicated to the children. Our daughter has attended since she was an infant and is now three. Through the pandemic all teachers has remained focused on maintaining consistency for the children, extremely focused on cleaning/health/safety and have still continued teaching making everything for the kids feel normal. I would recommend this school to anyone.

My grandson attended Step by Step and had a great experience. Interactions with staff were positive, professional, and encouraging. I felt my grandson got multiple cultural perspectives and was always treated fairly. I would strongly recommend Step by Step to others.

Montessori Schools are great. However, step by step Brooklyn Park is ran by white leaders who benefit from black dollars but perpetuates the belief that black men are aggressive and intimidating. My children were expelled after a boy spat on my daughter. There were no meetings, no effort to make my daughter whole, instead all 3 of my children were punished because the white teacher whom my husband questioned about the incident had no answers, he got frustrated. Like any parent would when there are no answers and your child feels violated. He never yelled, yet the teacher he was addressing complained to her supervisor and informed them that she felt threatened. Our children were immediately expelled.

Tried using them last year. It seems nice but my kids weren’t there for more than a few days before my son(4 at the time. was able to talk in full sentences and hold conversation bc we talk to them a lot! They didn’t expect that.) told me he was told “no” when asked for tissue for his nose and so he went to cry in a yellow tube then was forgotten and LEFT outside after recess. The worker then grabbed his arm and yelled in his face “when I call you; you come!” Owner denied everything immediately when confronted the next day without investigating. Said cameras didn’t work and led me to see recess area where I immediately saw the yellow tube my son was telling me about. Do not trust these people, they cover up abuse! Kinder care in champlin was a much better option even though management was shaky

Let me share! This center may work great for some kids but not kids of color. My daughters hair was pulled straight form her scalp by another kid & the staff was mad that I was upset about the situation.

Such a great school. Our daughter has been going here since she was an infant. Next year she will graduate from Kindergarten from here and she is already sad about having to leave.

My experience with Step By Step was not a good one. Montessori is an amazing program that I would recommend. The problems with Step By Step Brooklyn Park: they do not have an anti-bullying policy, they lack diversity and inclusivity within their staff which leads to them not understanding cultural differences/sensitives. They are not proactive or preventative when it comes to solving concerns or problems concerning children. There was a child whom would often hit, call my children names and even spat on my daughter (during covid 19). We have previously asked on several occasions for this child to be separated or to have this child supervised when around our children. I address the teacher whom was suppose to supervise the children. Instead of offering a solution, she deflected as if she was not responsible and even tried to change the subject without addressing my concern. This was extremely frustrating. My heart sunk as I left with no remedy. Later I received a call from the regional director, she brought the resolution of assigned seats. Which made me content. The next day the regional director calls and states she is expelling my children as there is no tolerance for abuse. I was extremely confused as I had no idea what she was referencing. Apparently the school lead told her, the staff felt threatened. Also, that she had spoken to me about being abusive to the staff previously. Yes, I was visably frustrated as my child was spat on and the teacher whom was suppose to be watching the children was cleaning. I never yelled, never cursed, never was aggressive, never got in anyones space or anything like that. The school lead has never spoken to me about any adverse incidents with staff. She completely made this up or is confusing me with another parent. Its disheartening to be gaslighted, made to be the angry black man when all I want is for my children to be educated uninterrupted by the privilege bestowed to the staff and the child whom spat on my child. There was no conference or fact checking. The regional director simply took the word of the teacher whom was in the wrong over mine. I have been reflecting on this experience for weeks trying to figure out how my actions were deemed aggressive. I realize its not me. Its Step By Steps inability to listen, understand and empathize with the parent to resolve a standard concern. Their implicit bias led them to their conclusions. For this, my children are better off in a new facility. Thank you for showing us who you are.

My son attended Step by Step for three and a half years and the entire experience was superb! The teachers are friendly, kind, highly professional individuals that you would want to entrust your kids safety and well-being to. The curriculum is top notch and focuses on the individual child’s learning abilities. I would also highlight Spanish and music incorporated in the Montessori curriculum. Departing the center was very emotional for our family but Step by Step has equipped my son with the necessary skills needed to excel in Kindergarten. I am beyond satisfied and I would highly recommend this school/center to anyone that wants a fun, loving and educational experience for their child.

My son currently attends Step By Step and I just love it. He was home up until he was 9 months old, his father and I were a tad bit nervous about transitioning him into child care. He loves it there. The teachers are so amazing and caring. He took to them right away, which eased our worries. They have been so amazing with assisting with his sleep patterns as well as motor skills. He is 13 months now, walking & saying a few words. I am so excited to see what the future for him at Step By Step holds.

Was looking for care for my children and popped in for a tour. I was greeted with a smile by the Director and offered to tour the preschool and toddler classes. Both classes had happy children and each of the teacher were very helpful and gave great information. I didnt know much about Montessori before my tour but now love the concept and will consider enrolling my children. School smelled great and very clean, I will definitely recommend to others.

My nephew was bullied by an older child at this school in the school age room. Instead of reprimanding the bully my nephew got in trouble for tattletaling. My nephew informed me and Ms Katie acted as though she had no idea what I was talking about

This is the best school ever! I put my daughter in half way through preschool and now in May 2014 she will be graduating Kindergarten from here !Im amazed at the opportunities theyve given her and the schools communication with the families is great! This school has provided an education above and beyond what I had ever expected- and to have the convenience of daycare- before and after kindergarten class is wonderful.I would recommend the Brooklyn Park Step by Step Montessori school to anyone who asks- very pleased with their systems, their staff, their education and the moral of the school.

I worked here over the summer while I was home from college and loved it! I helped out in preschool most of the time and learned a lot. The teachers in each of these classes were amazing with the children and truly are passionate about each childs learning. The center as a whole has a family like atmosphere, I would recommend bringing your children to this school!

Our daughter has been attending the Wayzata center for the past 1.5 years and she absolutely loves it. She has grown tremendously both emotionally and intellectually in that short time. The teachers truly care and create a safe space for your child to push themselves to learn at a rapid pace.

Teachers that care and an open learning environment. Good diversity not only within the student body but also with the teachers themselves.
