Martial arts has given my girls the opportunity to learn self defense and confidence. I love the anti bullying classes the kiddos receive when the school year starts. Master Galvan and Ms Martha always give their best to motivate the kiddos to do well. Thank you to all the professors that take their time and are always so patient with the student.

My daughter and I were new to martial arts training, and wanted to find a school with a flexible schedule, long track record, (and for us) classes with a focus on jiujitsu (rather than places that teach a superficial level of a little of everything), and high-level instructors (here, they are all black belts). We found all of this and more here. The last three months of training have been a huge benefit to our entire family.Everyone is welcoming, and the instructors work with you at any level of ability. By this, I mean that you are placed in appropriate classes, and strategically matched with training partners. With regular attendance, this leads to consistent growth, all based on fundamental techniques and principles. Students are genuinely cared about as people beyond a transactional “customer / salesperson” arrangement.Classes have strong supervision and guidance from the instructors, who will observe closely in order to steer you toward mastery of the day’s training. Here, you don’t have to worry about someone with an inflated ego intimidating others, or causing injury. The training area is clean, spacious, and kept at a comfortable temperature.I did my homework in Brownsville and Harlingen before enrolling at this school. If there is a better quality place to train around here, I’m not aware of it.

This dojo is the best one I have ever had the privilege of training at. Master Manny will push you. He sees your potential and will try to increase it exponentially. The family environment that exists at this dojo is awesome. The fellow students feel like brothers and sisters to me and helped push me when I didnt think I could. If you want a sensei that is going to sugar coat everything this is not your sensei. If you want a sensei that wants perfection and will not hesitate to push you Master Manny is the Sensei for you! I definitely recommend him if you are looking for a dojo to train in!

My son started in July and has already learned so much. The instructors are hands on and take the time to teach the kids. We love how they make the kids feel special by celebrating their achievements. The staff is excellent!

Great school. Instructors work with you until you get/understand the techniques. We have a difficult schedule and they work with us so that we can still attend class and progress.

I am 34 years old and had never been an athlete or kickboxer, so while the classes were tough the instructors understood and worked with me! Very clear instruction, and lots of experience and knowledge was on display in the classes. School was exceptionally clean, and all of the students were respectful and hard at work each class.

Before we enrolled our youngest boy into Galvan’s Martial Arts, he did not know a way to defend himself and because of that he was less confident in himself. But with the help of Galvan’s, he now has a way to defend himself from threats and is a lot more confident in himself than he was before. Galvan’s is the right direction for anybody as they are learning from the best.

My boys have attended GMA going on several years now. They have grown in so many aspects of life by going to TKD 2-3 times a week with the most important being respect, confidence, and the removal of fears. We have been with Galvans Martial Arts for about 12 yrs. My kids love it. They have learned a lot in all areas of martial arts as well as discipline, respect and follow instructions. We would not change nor leave Galvans.

I dont recomend it; for us it was just a waste of time and money. If you plan to enroll your kids I suggest you first visit the place on the time your kid is supposed to assist at least two times. Instrucctor talks to much of his life experience instead of teaching and teaches different topics to a separate group and not the whole class.

GMA is a great environment for any person, be it a kid or an adult. The instructors are very dedicated and have a lot of experience in every martial art. It is a great place for a person who is looking to learn self defense or for a person who is looking to compete.

Our family has trained at Galvans Martial Arts for over six years now. My wife first started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and she enjoyed it so much she eventually convinced me to join also. All three of our children train in Mixed Martial Arts. The instructors here are the best - they are incredibly knowledgeable about the world of martial arts, they have tremendous amounts of experience and training and they are also excellent teachers. The TEAM attitude here is awesome as well. Attending class is always a highlight for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone, whether you have an interest but have never tried martial arts training or if you have years of training elsewhere - this is the place to train!

GMA is a great place to be! The instructors are extremely educated in the martial arts they teach and they have a great understanding of how, where, and when to use the techniques they teach. Wonderful instructors! My daughter is a current student, and we could not have found a better school. Not only do they teach them discipline, and respect, they also care for the children as individuals. The instructions are extremely knowledgeable and have a lot of patience with little ones. I love that they have extra events so the children can socialize and get to know each other outside of just class, and its always fun for my daughter to have a movie night or a picnic with the classmates she sees every day- she loves it so much, we go mon-sat! I love that shes learning BJJ and TKD at the same time. she currently holds 2 different belts, and I hope she continues to excel with the wonderful instructors at GMA! They truly do treat you like family!

I really enjoy training here! I have been learning both Brazilian jiu-jitsu and aikido at this institution, and it has been a great learning experience.
