We stopped in learn about purchasing a guitar and lessons for our daughter. The sales team was super helpful in steering us in a good direction for a beginner and showed us several options that would work for her. We left the store with a guitar and our daughter is over the moon excited to start her lessons and learn how to play. This Sam Ash store used to have LOTS of piano teaching resources but with each visit Im noticing the supply is dwindling more and more and more. Very disappointing especially noting the quality music programs that are in the area and the need for materials. Hopefully they can get it together and keep the stock plentiful in the near future.

They have a great selection of guitars and other music/audio/visual equipment. We went in this time to purchase the first guitar for our son. The specialist guided and helped us to choose the perfect guitar for him and now he is in love with it. In the time everything can be purchase online or at a big chain, they made the experience so personalized. Now we will have a precious life-time memory of my sons first guitar. (The guitar looks bit, but its a half size guitar and you can see the lego figure on the top as a reference).

Had excellent service and wonderful follow up from a sales rep, Sarah Jane. The fact that in today’s day and age somebody would follow up a week after I purchase a Bose PA system that wasn’t extremely expensive is proof that there’s still great customer service out there! Although I’ve been buying a lot of gear elsewhere I’ll do my best to focus my purchases to my local Sam Ash go Sarah!

I went into the store to pickup a two headed Hercules guitar stand. didnt have it in stock. They ordered it for me and had it delivered within 2 days. price was competitive with online retailers. feels good supporting a local store, even if it is a chain. Would be great to see their studio equipment room better set up. The monitor test wall isnt set up for trying stuff, which might bring more foot traffic in.

I’ve always had a super good experience with Sam Ash specifically this one at Buffalo Grove. I’ve taken/ sold multiple instruments here throughout the years after upgrading and wanting to get rid of my used equipment. I’ve never had any problems (until now) and the staff had always been kind and had always taken care of me. Today I came in to potentially sell one of those said instruments, when I was immediately degraded by management. Not only was I told that the make and model of my bass was not correct information, I was also told that my price range was off and that I needed to do research before trying to sell my instrument…….I have been playing bass for 18 years now, so to have someone who doesn’t even play, or know anything about basses (he straight up told me he was a drummer and didn’t know a lot about bass) tell me that I am wrong about my own instrument was completely degrading and frankly insulting. He even made a point to tell me that he’s been working in the instrument retail industry for years now, and would know if my bass should be priced higher. I made several attempts to correct him about my instrument, all of which he did not listen too and didn’t even make the attempt to validate. It’s really hard as it is to be a woman in music, so to come here today and be completely degraded and treated as if I had no idea what I was talking about by the staff, was just so beyond insulting and aggravating.

I’ve purchased 3 guitars here and traded in 2 others, as well as 2 amps and various other gear. Each time I was impressed with the level of customer service I received. On my most recent visit, the salesman I worked with (Matt) was a good example of this: friendly, polite, made suggestions to help me decide what to get without being pushy or trying to up-sell me, and honestly worked with me on a trade-in to get the best deal I could. I always get the feeling that these are fellow players and music enthusiasts who genuinely want to make sure that their customers are satisfied. This is a sharp contrast to Guitar Center, where I’ve often been ignored or treated with disinterest. Sam Ash’s prices are comparable, and while their selection isn’t as big as GC, it’s not at all bad, either. On this most recent visit, I was hoping to try out one of 3 Telecaster models that I had my eye on, and they had all 3, plus several more. The Buffalo Grove, IL location has come through every time. This is how you get and keep customers. Well done.

I wish I had taken the name of the young girl who helped me. I would write a letter to the manager. She was terrific. Any question she didnt know, she excused herself politely to find the answer. This is how it should be done. She never answered a question with a negative response. She is obviously a teenager. As a parent, I would be very proud of the job she is doing.

Quiet place, there’s more choices for string instruments. We got the last one Martin 000-13E guitar at this store. Staff who helped us was very nice and knowledgeable of guitar models. I strongly recommend this place.

First time visiting Sam Ash and it was the best experience Ive ever had in a retail environment. Erik was the employee that helped us and he was so friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He needs a raise right now! We were looking into an electronic drum set and he took the time to explain everything to us and really helped us make a decision. Needed a part to complete a repair/restoration for a Fender guitar. It was in stock. The guitar dept. counterperson was a great help, and also helped me check out a new Gretsch guitar. Have a purchase a couple of guitars, a Roland Boss portable amp, strings and accessories from this store in the past and find their service and selection excellent. Two thumbs up!!

The store and employees are nice, however they are in desperate need of a new manager. He is one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful persons I have meet. He got in my face and was yelling at me saying it was the law to tell him if I had been vaccinated. I’m 100% fine with people asking that if they are respectful, however this man was completely out of line and treated me with no respect or dignity. Our family has spent thousands of dollars at the store, but after this horrifying experience and out of control manager, we will never go back there. All of our cards and accounts have been canceled. If you like to be respected as a customer (and more importantly a human). I would not waste your time at the store, unless it falls to new management.

The staff was attentive, but left me into the acoustic room to explore, by myself. They were able to answer all my geeky question. They were open to discussing my choices, even if they didnt stock a brand I was interested in.

I went in to sell a Roland Cube 40 XL. I didnt expect much for the amp and was satisfied with their offer. They tended to me right away and, although I was waiting for a bit to get things processed - maybe 20 - 30 minutes? Idk I was mesmerized by the guitar walls - they were very polite and got me through as quickly as they could. Music stores usually have pretty lean staff so its reasonable for things to take a bit when there are multiple customers in the store. Regardless, Ive been to this location several times and the staff are always super nice and helpful. Their selection of guitars and amps is pretty good too! I highly recommend.

Sam Ash is a kickass store, definitely on-par selection and price-wise with a Guitar Center but I always get sweet deals on demo equipment here. The guys are all super nice and seem like real musicians, Ive definitely had a couple great conversations with employees here about gear and the joys of music.

I went to Guitar Center to buy a guitar. They didn’t give me the time of day. I googled Sam Ash and went there. The customer relations was awesome. I was greeted at the door and Matt was very helpful. He spent time with me to show the differences. I ended up buying a Takamine acoustical electric. Mark at the Buffalo Grove store was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! I was considering a new Taylor guitar, and unlike a competing store Sam Ash had a wide selection to choose from. Mark pulled guitar after guitar from the wall allowing me to play each of them to help in my decision. I had only planned on looking that day, but they had one (814ce) that I could not leave without. Mark even threw in an extra pair of strings, which though unnecessary was a nice gesture! This is the second Taylor I have purchased from this store and would definitely recommend going there for your first or next instrument.

I went in to get some guitar strings and saw an old friend.Doug is the guitar tech at Sam Ash I have not seen him in about 10 years.He undid all the weird things I did to an old 80s Strat I have.I.E. ...I added a floyd, emgs, you know typical 80s stuff.Anyway, we ended up spending an hour and a half chatting about everything from guitars to life in general.In these weird times it was nice to see an old friend and just talk.Doug has worked on a few of my guitars over the years, and I can confidently say he is a fantastic tech and also a really nice guy.I miss the days of local shops where you just hung around and talked about stuff.Sams still carries a good range of guitars and it is a nice change from ordering online.Highly recommend you drop in.

We went to the Sam Ash store to get some new drum sticks for my son and Felix helped us out - he was super knowledgeable and a great guy to deal with. My son mentioned his high hat wasnt working correctly so Felix suggested we bring it by on Saturday morning when he was next working and he would take a look at it. We brought it in and 15 minutes later he had it working like new. We have always received excellent service at this store and Felix certainly carries on that tradition! Thanks guys...rock on!

I had a wonderful experience with this shop. Alex (the guy in glasses and with a beard) was incredibly helpful with choosing an acoustic guitar for me. He spent more than 2 hours with me helping to understand the pros and cons of each guitar I tried and sharing his valuable and fair opinion when I had any concerns. He even forgot that his shift is over and overtimed one hour for me. His colleague Matt was really flexible on discounts and helped me to fit my budget, even threw in an ukulele for my wife as a bonus!It’s incomparable with the Guitar Center Arlington Heights I visited the day before: I asked a salesman for a help, he gave me two guitars and said he will check on me soon - I’ve never seen this guy anymore. The same story with his colleague. When I asked for some discount on Taylor I liked he couldn’t even move a dollar!The Sam Ash guys are amazing! I will be a regular customer of this place!

Bryan at the Sam Ash store in buffalo grove was friendly, professional and a great help with setting up my first guitar. He replaced the strings on my electric guitar explaining every step so I could replace the strings myself later on. He also provided recommendations on which tuner, strings and picks a brand new beginning guitar player such as myself should use. Absolutely a top notch guy

Went there to buy a very specific guitar. I called to verify it was in stock (as a lot of other retailers had it listed as a product but not in stock). Matt, who manages their guitar dept, verified and offered to put it on hold for me. They also honored a coupon so I got by far the best deal available on a nice instrument.Their service is great and they take care of their clients. Matt was particularly awesome.

We went to the Buffalo Grove location to look into getting a first guitar for our daughter. We spoke with Brian who was wonderfully helpful and took the time to explain differences, advantages and unique properties of the different type of guitars available. There was absolutely no hard sell, and we felt really comfortable in the store and speaking with him.If you hadnt guessed by now we did purchase a guitar, case , tuner, and lessons and the cost was a little less than expected when we walked through the door so that was definitely a big plus too.Shortly after we left the store the music instructor John called and set up lessons for the time and day that worked out perfectly for us. These folks are amazing, and if you are in the market for stuff in their area of expertise, I believe that you should definitely check this place out!

I am a new guitar player- with absolutely no knowledge about what to ask or which questions I should have been asking in my search for a guitar. The store manager (Tod) sales tech (Bryan) and guitar Tech (Doug) have seen me wonder in and out of the store for a couple months, answering my questions, helping me learn more about guitars, and equipment. All the time, for each and every visit , they have been helpful, willing to discuss my options, and give me more information to help me make an educated, and informed decision when I was ready to buy my first guitar, and options for upgrading a guitar with a variety of parts and electronics, Amps, pedals, etc. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Sam Ash, located in Buffalo Grove , Illinois. They are very courteous, helpful, and professional. I am impressed that all of their staff is very knowledgeable about each of their jobs, and have a background in music. This is the place you should want to go to, and these are the people to see. And not just for guitars- they have a multitude of instruments for kids in school that need to pick up something for band.

I drove an hour and a half and it was well worth the trip. This location is clean, organized , well stocked and the people were great from the greeting at the door to directing and introducing me to the person in the drum department. These stores are far and few between, this place is a dying breed in every sense, it was great to see a musical candy store. I have been to others, and they are a waste of time compared to the Buffalo Grove Sam Ash.
