Suzanne and JJ are incredible! It was a delight to take this class. They have incredible understanding into neighborhood practice that is extremely helpful in this market. I have been on above and beyond 300 investigations as a realtor and took in a ton from them. Energetically suggested in case anybody is keen on persuing home investigation preparing. It resembled a firehose of data coming at you however they set aside the effort to address all inquiries and assist with clarifying things in manners that were reasonable. Despite the fact that it was a long class it was clashing to complete it. I rather appreciated appearance up regularly to learn something and didnt feel it was overpowering or an errand. They made it charming and simple to track. Much thanks to you all so much and I am certain I will talk again with you!

I dislike schooling with a passion. Never has been one of my strong suits. This course offered by JJ and his wife Suzanne feels more like sitting around the dinner table with your family than it does a classroom. You get the joy and laughs while great information is passed around. Questions, no matter how silly you may feel they are, get answered in a way easily understandable. The content of the course is pretty thorough and in depth. You get to learn about the standards the state has, industry standards adopted by multiple outfits, varying business models and practices in use today by others and they have access to dozens, if not hundreds of real estate agents, inspectors, contractors, etc that can answer questions or help point you in the right direction. I wouldnt hesitate to sign up for this class if you were serious about getting the best shot at getting your License.Thank youRyan

JJ & Suzanne offer an extremely high level of knowledge both in what is required and what can be expected of a Home Inspector. They are great teachers and it is clear that they are doing something that they love...Helping people. They also gave me a clear idea of the other opportunities that Home Inspectors have to serve their communities like becoming a Structural Pest Inspector as well. I really appreciated learning about all the things that they learned the hard way... All of those real-world experiences that they shared were priceless. I also appreciated learning some of the ins and outs of working in the different areas around the Puget Sound. It was a complete package of knowledge that I would not have gotten from a national chain school. I took this class a few months ago to help with my home buying experience. They were so helpful with my lack of knowledge and very encouraging. Was a laid back atmosphere but still had a great structure in it. My class size was a good size I think. Not so many people that you couldnt focus but not so small that you didnt get a lot of learning from your peers. I highly recommend taking the class. You really cant ask for better mentors in the business. Theyve not only written the course but they work in the field. Just all around one of the best things I could have done for myself.

It was such a warm and friendly learning environment. JJ and Suzanne certainly know their stuff and were able to teach in such a way that I felt absolutely confident when I took the state exam. The answer to each question came back easily and I passed!I would do the class again just because it was so much fun.I now have my own business as a home inspector and loving it!

I took this course in January. JJ and Suzanne were awesome to learn from. The course was very informational as well as the support you get being a student of SOPHI. Id HIGHLY recommend taking this class if you are looking to get into home inspection.

My wife and I both took the January Home Inspection class and we are both extremely pleased with the training provided by JJ and Suzanne . They were willing to answer any questions we had and presented the information in a clear easy to learn way. They have provided us with solid foundation to build upon to feel confident that we will be able to start and run a Home Inspection business.

The SOPHI instructors (JJ and Suzanne) were not only helpful in training and preparing our class for the State exam, but with my own launching into the home inspection business. Several students in our class had language barriers that made the class more difficult. I was impressed with the professionalism and patience shown to their students and clients. In between their busy personal and professional lives they have shown me that they truly care about their students and are willing to go beyond typical learning situations in order to help their students succeed.

A PERFECT PLACE FOR A VETERAN!I recently completed this course after completing my obligated time in the Navy as a Nuclear Power Plant Operater and I cannot in good conscience say that I have even one complaint about the instructors, course outline, facilities, or anything for that matter. Except for the typical Seattle traffic of course (sigh). Some things are inevitable.I had to travel a long distance each day just to make it to the classroom but that was due to my own last minute accommodations; however, despite the getting up early as hell and fighting for lanes at 15 mph on I-5 I was ALWAYS excited everyday that I arrived to the classroom.As dry as a small portion of the information can be they both find a way to make it interesting/entertaining. These people are PROFESSIONALS and have been doing this for a really long time, and on top of that, you have the rare opportunity to observe a business operate right in front of your face. You will learn things educators neglect to teach you in business school. Suzanne gives you that motherly youre in good hands feeling and JJ is a friendly bottomless pit of information whos free of ego. Dont ever be afraid to ask a stupid question in the class because you are never stupid, you are just learning something new.I could go on and on about this course, but the fact of the matter is that I loved it and I feel confident in saying that everyone in my class loved it.IF YOU ARE READING THIS, CHANCES ARE, YOU ARE ALREADY THINKING ABOUT BEING A HOME INSPECTOR SO JUST CALL THEM AND LET THEM TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THE COURSE!

I was worried the 120-Hour Classroom Hours crammed in 12 days was going to be grueling but it was everything but. I was genuinely surprised at the all around quality of every aspect of JJ and Suzannes class. They exerted extreme hospitality throughout the entire duration of the class and always made sure we were comfortable and in the best position to learn. As a licensed professional and tradesman, I felt satisfied with their knowledge base pertaining to my specialization and in return, gave me confidence that everything else I was learning was proper and sufficient.I do not believe any other Home Inspecting Course will be able to match what JJ and Suzanne have to offer and I am so sure of it, Id be willing to bet a whole first years worth of pay from the money I will make Home Inspecting against anyone thatd say otherwise!

JJ & Suzanne are great, they took a 120 hrs of information and got into two weeks. They used there knowledge & experience to create a course that was informative, useful & enjoyable. They maximized our class time with fun quizzes & prizes, food and on site inspection opportunities. I would reccomend SOPHI to anyone interested in a home inspection career.

I attended the School of Professional Home Inspection and I could not recommend it more highly. JJ and Suzanne took the time to ensure myself and all the other students had every tool and resource available to ensure we were prepared for our new careers.After completing the course, JJ and Suzanne offered to help with the ride along hours which is part of the state requirements. Its very difficult to find inspectors who will allow ride along or shadows because they know youre likely to become their direct competition. Their facilitation of the entire process was seamless.I was licensed shortly after the class and they still provide me with additional resources, tools and support whenever its needed.I would highly recommend both SOPHI and HIPS for either your educational needs or your home inspection needs.

The other reviews that I see on here are correct in their assessment of this business when they say that the inspections are good. Mine was very thorough. Scheduling was easy and prices are pretty much identical to the other home inspectors that gave me quotes.So why the one star review, you might ask? The customer service! Prior to scheduling my inspection, I informed JJ that I was cancelling with another inspector, and was hoping to schedule an inspection asap to fill in the gap. He didnt even ask why I had cancelled with the other inspector (it was due to several scheduling and communication errors on their part), he just instantly took this unfriendly tone and told me he wasnt even sure if he wanted to do my inspection because my cancellation with the other company gave him a bad feeling about me. I should have taken the hint and said forget about it right then and there! If you dont want my money, you dont have to take it. Instead, I figured that this was just an isolated incident and wrote it off. The inspection went well, and I was perfectly satisfied until a couple weeks later when my mortgage broker informed me that I needed an inspection checklist completed for my loan. Now, this is a twenty page checklist, so I was willing to pay some extra money for him to do this checklist. Initially, he just refused to do it, but when pressed, he quoted an additional $1000 to complete this checklist! He has already received over $400 to do a supposedly thorough inspection, so what on earth could he need $1000 for? Fortunately, I was able to find another much more accommodating inspector who was willing to inspect the necessary areas of the house and complete the checklist for $200. After scheduling with the second inspector, my mortgage broker informed me that he does about 6 of the loans that require this checklist each year, and he has NEVER had an inspector ask for an additional fee after the inspection to complete it.Overall, I would say that you will get a good inspection from JJ. However, you may also get a nasty attitude, and dont count on him lifting a finger for you after he has his money. I would definitely not recommend him considering all the other highly rated and well qualified inspectors in the Puget Sound region.
