I danced at Buffa’s basically all my life and I had wonderful experiences there. This studio provided an amazing environment to grow and learn as well as have fun. I met some of my closest friends there and continue to have amazing relationships with all of the teachers. They are very good at providing as many opportunities for their dancers to grow and showcase what they’ve learned and encourage everyone to do their best. I have continued to stay connected to the studio after graduation by participating in their alumni dance and teaching classes because of my love for this studio and everyone in it. If you put your child in dance classes at Buffa’s you will be sure to get high quality teachers, choreography, and experiences as well as extremely well done shows such as their performance of The Nutcracker through Burke Civic Ballet, and the end of the year recitals. These performances very much reflect the effort and time the faculty and volunteers put in to ensure a show that looks professional. Buffa’s is an amazing choice of dance studio for this spectacular environment and the care they have for every single student.

I grew up dancing at Buffa’s Dance Studio and started at the age of 4. I contribute my time at Buffa’s to having the greatest group of friends and teachers that I’ll cherish for a lifetime. The high quality of their staff and performances continues to amaze me throughout the years, and I am so happy I have the opportunity to continue being a part of their community by teaching classes. This place will always be a second home to me!

Buffas is the best place for dance instruction that you can find. I started at this studio when I was 5 and danced all the way through high school until I graduated. You will not find more professional and caring instructors anywhere else! I have formed close relationships with my teachers and I look forward to continuing these even past my years of dancing here. A highlight of my dance career here include the non-profit Burke Civic Ballets production of The Nutcracker, a highly-professional show including guest artists from the Colorado Ballet. My favorite aspect about Buffas was that I could always choose my level of engagement: I was a member of the most competitive teams until high school when I dialed back a little to focus on academics. I still received all the same benefits as other dancers with this decision and never felt I was missing out. I love that Buffas gives older dancers the opportunity to assume a mentor-like position with the ability to assist and teach younger dance classes; I found a passion in this and I continued with teaching throughout high school. In conclusion, Buffas is a stellar studio to receive not only high-quality dance instruction but the opportunity to become engaged in a lifelong learning experience.

I spent nearly 15 years dancing at Buffas Dance Studio, and highly recommend it! I took classes in many styles which were taught by wonderful teachers, and my love of dance that was fostered by the staff at Buffas led me to continue dancing in college.Buffas is wonderful, because they offer such a large variety of classes, programs, and experiences- I was a member of competition teams for the majority of my time at Buffas, and absolutely loved it! I also have friends who only took a couple of classes, and they loved that experience!

Buffas gave me more than i could have ever imagined as a young dancer. Still, at 22 years old, I come back to visit my teachers and the other dancers there. Buffas nurtured my love for dance and provided me with so many opportunities over the years. I was never the most graceful or the best dancer on stage, but I went on to be in the Contemporary Dance Ensemble at Virginia Tech, all thanks to Buffas.

I danced at Buffas for 15 years and I loved every minute of it. They have encouraged me to be not only a technically profiecent dancer, but the Buffas staff also checked up on my emotional and physical well-being all my years. Even after I graduated, I was invited back to the studio and given an incredibly warm welcome. They really care about their kids!! I am now in the modern dance company at William & Mary, and I believe I can credit Buffas with my ability to make the company and my ability to act appropriately in professional environments. I would not have been prepared without them. They are incredible!!!!

I danced at Buffa’s for 13 years and as an alumni still think as the studio as a second home. All of the teachers truly care about your improvement as a dancer and continuously inspire the students. The studio acts as a family where all the students, teachers and staff are supportive and encouring to one another. I cherish all the wonderful memories that I made at Buffa’s and for shaping me as the individual I am today. Also, I wouldn’t have met my lifelong friends if I hadn’t attended Buffa’s and I am forever grateful for that. Overall, the studio is a great place for any individual interested in dance or for an experienced dancer that is seeking improvement!

I have been part of this studio since 1983 when I started at the age of three. I spent my whole childhood here, it has shaped and molded me into the disciplined, creative, motivated, poised woman I am today. I started my daughter here five years ago to benefit from all of those things in a loving and encouraging environment. I am so thankful that Buffas Dance Studio is still going strong teaching young girls and boys alike the incredible art of dance.

I danced at Buffas for 15 years (ages 3-18) and could not have found a better place to call my second home growing up. I met some of my best friends that I am still very close with and met some of the best teachers as well that made such a positive impact on my life. I recommend dancing at Buffas to any young girl I meet who is interested in dancing because I truly do not know where I would be without Buffas.

Buffas is amazing! I am new to the studio this year, and they havedone such an excellent job welcoming me into their family. The Nutcracker they do every year is fantastic and all the shows are high quality. The dancers here are getting wonderful training, and the teachers are lots of fun. The older girls try their best to help you and inspire you and it honestly really helps move into a new area. :)

I have found Buffas Dance Studio to be the classiest, most professional, and caring dance studio I have ever encountered. Every single teacher there works with the dancers best interest at heart. The training offered is superb along with all the additional opportunities to learn and grow given to their dancers. For example: Choreographers Showcase, which gives dancers the opportunity to choreograph their own pieces, The Burke Civic Ballet, their non-profit ballet company which performs an outstanding Nutcracker each year, participating in different dance conventions and competitions throughout the year, bringing in guest teachers from all over the country, and most importantly the most generous, selfless staff I have ever met. Miss Buffa has run Buffas Dance Studio for 32 years now and is not only an amazing business woman but the kindest person in the world. Anyone would be lucky to be apart of her outstanding dance studio.

Buffa’s Dance Studio has been a second home to my family since 1994. For us, it has been more than learning proper technique and becoming better dancers. It is here where we have learned about respect for others, working as a team, accountability as we were Members of Dance Company and responsibility as employees. The studio has provided me with immense opportunities over the years. As a dance teacher assistant while I was in middle school and high school, I learned about showing up to work on time, ensuring I was present not only for the teacher, but for the students and this was a great example of how the studio owners worked with a family of three dancers to help us pay for dance classes as we received credits towards our monthly tuition and wanted to take every single class! While in college, I continued to work at the front desk, growing my communicating skills and increasing my responsibilities. Then when in grad school, I was the Manager, assisting with the recitals and Nutcracker productions, learning how to manage 20+ teachers, 1000+ students, and overseeing the overall day-to-day operations. The job I have today has said they hired me from my experiences at the dance studio and for that I am forever grateful. This is why I come back year after year and volunteer for the recitals / Nutcracker. The studio is a place to learn and grow and the owners are invested in each of their dancers, no matter their level or the numbers of classes you take. They are BEYOND generous and it’s without hesitation, that I continue to give back however I can. My parents have always said that my sisters and I became the women we are today with major contributions from Miss Buffa and the incredible staff here.

BDS is simply the best! I grew up dancing here, the values of kindness and commitment instilled by Miss Buffa, Melissa and the entire staff have stayed with me into my adult life. This studio has provided my three sisters and I numerous opportunities and a second home since the 90s, and continues to do so.

I only started dancing when I was about 10. Entering this sport so late I had a lot to catch up on and was afraid that I wouldn’t fit in. I had nothing to worry about because I was immediately welcomed into the buffas family and it has become my second home over the last 8 years. I am so grateful for everything that buffas has taught me not only to become a better dancer, but a better overall person.

We were at this studio for about 6 months. The fact that they do not take credit cards is beyond frustrating. Also, they are breaking every fire code known to man! The hallways are jam packed, with people tripping over each other, and total disregard for the smallest dancers who cant get to and from the waiting area. And finally, the parents cant watch and there is almost zero communication on whats happening in class. This might be okay for teenagers, but not for a 3 year old.

As of this year I have been a part of buffas for 6 years and I can truly call it my second home. There is not one day where I am not excited to go to a class, see the teachers, and improve my skills. In my first few years at buffas it was harder for me to make friends and branch out to other people. But this entirely had to do with my level of confidence rather than the dancers and staff. I was given numerous opportunities to show what I had as a new kid and improve myself as well so I didnt feel left out.As I said before now I feel like buffas is truly a second home for me. The staff are so generous and kind and I am never afraid to ask anything in terms of help with a dance move or something else. The environment is professional but also free, meaning we have a lot of fun but get many things done and are able to learn well. After you pass a certain level or are at a certain age you do start to receive a higher level of training which for me was perfect. I believe this is mainly because most older girls are competing meaning the training will be more steered toward picking up choreography easier, learning many more pieces. The only thing I will say that bugs me a little bit are the prices. But I know that buffas is trying hard every year to keep them low and more affordable so I am happy about that and do realize that dance is an expensive sport that I myself have committed too.Overall I just love buffas so much and really think you will too as long as you make good friends, try hard to improve yourself, and mostly just work hard!

If you are looking to be a part of an elite dance team, this is the studio for you! If your child wants to take a few classes and enhance his/her dance skills, I suggest looking elsewhere. My daughter was with this studio for 3 years, taking 2 classes plus a part of Rhinestones or Crystals (the young competition groups) all 3 years. Each year, the studio found new ways to increase their revenue. The first year that we were there, part of the recital fee was a few tickets to the recitals. The next year, they reduced the recital fee by $25 and charged $20 per ticket ($15 for the Concert.) This year, for my family to attend all 5 recitals, it would have cost $425 in addition to the $375 in recital fees.Recital dress rehearsals were on Father’s Day weekend for my daughter were 13 hours, 8 of which were 12-8 on Father’s Day and she was only in 3 classes. Some kids were there longer. Recitals were held on WEEKDAYS. Some kids had to leave school early. Parents were told that if they wanted to attend, they had to take off from work. That makes it doubly expensive.Classes that had typically been combined into the same recital were split into separate shows. For instance, if you had ballet and tap on the same night, in the same classroom, one after another, those were always in the same recital so that parents would only have to buy tickets to one recital and sit through one show instead of 2. That was not the case this year and it was blamed on the harsh winter.Choreography is recycled year after year. This year there were TWO repeat dances in which my daughter performed just 2 short years ago in almost identical costumes. The lyrical dance performed annually by the Rhinestones group is the same dance every year, just to a different song. Many weeks, her instructor for Crystals was out of town with the ensemble dance team and she was left with senior students from the studio teaching her class that week.I hope that the studio returns to the days of encouraging the love of dance and not just winning at competitions.

I danced here for three years, and honestly it was not one of the best studios Ive been to. The dancers here do have extraordinary talent I shall say, but if you watch a few performances over the years, youll see that they repeat routines a lot. The girls here are very clique-oriented and exclusive. The girls here didnt really accept me because I was bumped up a level and was younger than everyone else, so they were mean to me and left me out a lot. No one wanted to be my friend here because I was younger and not from the same school. I used to come home every day feeling alone, and I cried a few times. The teachers here are okay, not the best, but okay. Most dont know how to keep a classroom together though. i wouldnt recommend going here, Id look elsewhere.

I am absolutely in love with Buffas Dance Studio. It is my 8th year dancing at Buffas and my 8th year doing the Burke Civic Ballet Nutcracker. If you are looking for a place to have your kids to be taught by amazing and wonderful teachers or want your kids to learn to be a civil and chivalrous child, bring them to Buffas. I used to be a little kindergartener that wore cute little costumes and danced to At The Hop, but now Im a 7th grader that dances in Diamonds (One of the competition groups) and was a finalist for an Electro Tap award at NRG dance project. Buffas Dance Studio works wonders. I love it, its my second home!
