Cyprus Classical Academy offers an exceptional ability-based education with proven results.Cyprus students average MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) scores place the school at over the 99th percentile in the nation in every grade and every subject.50% of students who took out-of-level testing (PSAT 8/9, ACT, and SAT) for NUMATS or John Hopkins CTY academic talent searches in 2016-2017 were award winners. In 2016-2017, students and recent graduates of Cyprus Classical Academys were finalists in the Regional Science Fair and subsequently won awards at the state competition. In 2017-2018, students and recent graduates have won music awards, passed high level internationally standardized Mandarin Chinese tests, won math competitions, debate competitions, mock-trial competitions, and have been chosen to participate in many highly-selective programs. Cyprus Classical Academys education is exceptional, comprehensive, and produces excellent results. The curriculum was created, designed, and is managed by the Director to be strong in basic skills while challenging each individual student at their level of ability and keeping a pace that engages students. Character development and community service is built into the program, and teachers continually work with the emotional and social characteristics of gifted children with excellent results. The unique holistic plan is highly successful as shown by the success of current Cyprus students as well as the leadership Cyprus graduates have continually shown in the schools they matriculate into. Cyprus students become leaders, award winners, and self-confident members of their community.

This school has created something VERY special and it was truly a unique and amazing experience for us! I know there were a few teachers that may not have worked closely with my daughter while she had the opportunity to attend, but their entire staff and faculty still helped shape my little girl into this amazing person and I am just truly grateful for all they did. She often came home on a daily basis giving praise to everyone she encountered! It is a mother’s dream to have a safe place for her child to go when I cannot be with her and Cyprus was her home away from home!

During my sons kindergarten year at a traditional private school, he was struggling. His teachers thought he had behavior and attention issues and sent him out of the classroom regularly because they didnt know what to do with him. We decided to have him tested and realized his IQ was very high, and that his boredom in class was causing his attention and behavior struggles. His school wasnt willing to work with us in terms of offering more challenging work, so we started to look elsewhere. Finding Cyprus Classical Academy was the answer to our prayers. Within weeks of switching him to Cyprus, our son came alive. He was happy to go to school in the mornings. He came home excited and energized. No longer was he frustrated and angry in the evenings. We truly got our family back after making this switch and we could not be happier. One year later, he is continuing to flourish. The teachers and staff at Cyprus have been so accommodating and welcoming to him and he is thriving like I never expected. The subject matter he is learning, the small class sizes tailored to his ability, and the community of committed staff and parents are all wonderful elements of this school. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a new fit for their child. It may be just what you are looking for!

Our daughter has been studying at Cyprus since she was 4 - which will make 2018-19 her 6th year here, and we could not be happier with the school. As parents to a precocious, energetic kid, we could easily see that traditional public-private options were failing her, and were quite anxious - till we found Cyprus through an education consultant. We had a wonderful 1st year at Cyprus - but I only realized how very precious it was to our daughter, when summer break came along, and she wrote an argument to convince the director to cancel summer break. By mid- summer break, she was going to bed with the same prayer every day, God, please let it be September tomorrow, so I can go back to Cyprus.Cyprus Classical Academy has been a phenomenal home for our daughter - nurturing her great enthusiasm for learning, accelerating and challenging her every day and helping her grow into a respectful and kind person. The director and the staff have shown great vision, and have become trusted mentors for the students (and often, for parents). They remain very approachable, available to manage any situations that arise, and passionate about teaching.I note a couple of bad reviews here, and I can only say that I am astounded by their comments. We live 67 miles away from Cyprus - and we have been commuting to the school for 5 years, in spite of being a busy both-parents-working family. I think that says how much we appreciate the environment and support Cyprus has provided to our not-so-little-any-more girl!If I could give the school 6 starts out of 5, I would.

We were blessed to find Cyprus 5 years ago after our oldest daughter struggled with boredom in a regular public school setting. Right away we noticed a difference in the quality of education and the personal attention given to each student. Both of our children are absolutely thriving thanks to the unique and individually-tailored education that they receive at Cyprus. The staff are wonderful people who care deeply about the students and are able to help them navigate all the various challenges of being gifted. Because the school is not bound by rigid public school criteria, it also has the flexibility to continue to adapt and change the curriculum and procedures to better suit the students needs and thus continues to strive to improve. In addition to the phenomenal educational foundation that they are receiving, Cyprus also focuses strongly on character development and leadership. When my youngest daughter started Cyprus in kindergarten, she was so shy that she literally would not speak to ANYONE at the school. However, by the spring of her 2nd year there, she voluntarily played a small speaking role in the school musical with several lines. She now routinely participates in the school plays and has become more comfortable in performing and public speaking in general. In fact, in several of her classes she has taken on a leadership role among her peers. It is so wonderful to see the growth in both our children. We are so thankful to Cyprus for its role in their ongoing development. I would recommend this school to anyone with gifted children who are not being served by their current school situation!

At Cyprus, kids are not designated a grade level, and each student can be treated as in individual. It is really more enjoyable to teach them and their distinctive idea will have more challenge and fun in teaching experience. Cyprus is not common model as other school. Its small class, similar ability and achievement levels make my teaching much easier. We spend the same time and effort, but have a better results and bigger progress. Cyprus has very effective way to teach kids in different ways, and all kids have the right to learn at school. Kids were designed in small group, and they have regular language class every day. Each one has more chance to talk and practice, that’s very effective in studying languages. Cyprus is the excellent choice for parents to send their kids. Its customized education and academic subject matter will give more opportunities to achieve parent’s expectations for their kids.

Our family is so grateful to have found Cyprus Classical Academy. Our son started in the public school system, but it just was not the right fit for him. His teacher gave him special assignments to try to keep his attention, but it wasn’t enough. We wanted a place where he could move at his own pace, which we found was faster than others at his school. We also wanted somewhere he could find similar peers. Cyprus was the answer for him and we have never regretted bringing him here. He had friends from day one and academically he is excelling. In addition to state standards testing, he has also participated in regional academic talent searches and done extremely well. The director and teachers at Cyprus put their hearts and souls into the school and create a safe, welcoming environment for kids to blossom.

If youre a parent looking for a place to put your kid who isnt learning or is being bullied at public school, I cannot stress enough that you send them here. I know because Im sitting in a room of the school at this moment. It has a loving community, A capability based system, and the teachers care about how much your childs learning. Notice the bad reviews are from people who havent sent a kid here, and maybe dont even have a kid.Its a good school.

I am delighted to be on staff at Cyprus Classical Montessori School where a child’s learningknows no boundaries. The Cyprus staff is committed to educating the whole child and helping each reach their potential. This extremely creative group of teacher continues to amaze me with their plays, elaborate scenery and props in addition to the hands on learning activities they create for young learners throughout our school building.Walk through the academy you will hear young musicians practicing their instruments, students working with and collecting data on rockets, while others are busy in the art room letting their creativity soar, and still others busy solving math formulas and memorizing poetry. Step into the Montessori wing and you will find kids selecting Montessori work from the shelves that they want to explore at their own pace. If you visit on Tuesday you will find them singing at Music class or on Friday, you will hear students practicing their Spanish vocabulary. During academic time in the afternoon, you could see the wonder Hooked on Phonics plays in helping our youngsters become avid readers or perhaps you will finda classroom with pairs of students actively engaged in playing math games or practicing their letters and must know words using salt, clay, play doh, stickers or blocks. If you visit during circle time or at meal or snack time you will be amazed to realize each preschooler knows the American Sign Language alphabet and signs daily during songs at those times. If your child loves to explore, is excited about hands on learning, then Cyprus is theSchool for you. If you want an environment that will challenge your child, then Cyprus is the school for you. If you want teachers who will celebrate and encourage your child’s unique gifts then Cyprus is the school for you. If you want your child to advance at their own pace then Cyprus is the school for you.If you want the best value in education for your money then Cyprus is the school for you.

I am proud to say that I have been a part of the Cyprus family for the past eight years. In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a parent so I cannot speak from that specific vantage point. However, I have witnessed two children that I love dearly grow and thrive in this environment, where they might not have elsewhere.Ten years ago, my sister was in a bit of a dilemma. Her son was reading and doing math far above his preschool age. She and my brother-in-law originally sent him to a more traditional school. During conferences, my friends were told that while their son obviously knew his letters, he couldn’t use scissors properly so the teachers there were very concerned. They treated my nephew as a possible problem, rather than the incredibly gifted individual that he is.In stepped Michelle Wallick. Let me say that I am incredibly grateful to this woman and the instrumental role she has played in my life and my family’s life. She took one look at this amazing child and knew that she could provide what other schools could not. Since that day, my nephews have been given an education that I could only dream of for my child. One event that comes to mind (while there are many) is an event called Composition Exhibition. This is a yearly event where the students can choose to study ANY topic that interests them (from cats to the black plague, from roller coasters to Einstein’s theory of relativity). They then present a written, artistic, and musical composition on their chosen topic. While the students are assisted (if they need it) by various teachers, all of the work is truly their own. It is an amazing evening and one of my favorite events at the school.I also want to state that I worked for this school for two years. It is true that no organization is perfect and there will always be challenges. However, the intent of this school is beautiful and true. Due to personal reasons, I could not continue working there, but I truly enjoyed the work and I miss it incredibly. I still enjoy volunteering at the school when I can.I recognize that everyone’s experience is their own, and I can only speak from what I myself have experienced. With that experience though, I highly recommend Cyprus Classical Montessori and Academy.
