I really wish I had read some these reviews before enrolling my child in this school, the teachers are amazing so kind and patient. I did not feel my childs safety was being taken seriously. Over the course of the 2 years my child attended this school her safety was disregarded several times and I was only ever contacted the last time to have a phone meeting. As a kindergartner my daughter was SENT HOME WITH A STRANGER, my aunt her regular pick up person who was on her approved list was sick and sent a friend of hers that I had never met and I was not made aware of this by my aunt. The school had never met this women nor had I, she was not on my childs approved pick up list and the school didnt even call me to make sure it was ok for her to leave with them. Next situation was when she was put on the wrong bus and almost dropped off at a random stop at 5 years old, they put her on the wrong bus a second time and I decided to take her to school from that point on. This year was her 1st grade year and I had to theyhave her ride the bus again but was assured that she would be safe they proceeded to make mistakes regarding transportation no matter how many times I reached out to the women in charge of buses it never seemed to help until I mentioned I was pulling my child now the phone wont stop ringing. So all in all a great school as far as academics but could use some training as far as the higher staff members and those in charge of transportation

We sent my child here after our home school couldnt meet the needs. My child has sensory and other needs that some other schools have a hard time dealing with. We are also foster parents and I love they all are trauma trained and know what they are doing. I will ALWAYS send my kids here that need extra help because the staff is amazing. To get help for your child you need to have a real need and be willing to work with the staff. That is all I had to do to get my child everything they needed. I have found all of the staff very professional and friendly.

I watched the principle attack a white lady today out in front of the school. About 7 people separated them. While they were holding her down he attacked her over and over again. How can this be acceptable. This person that is suppose too be in charge over our kids obviously has a temper he can not control. I do not recommend this school. Im already in the process of pulling my kids out.

I know firsthand the type of school this is. Just a few weeks ago I was a well-respected number of the Burton Glen family, I was a Power Parent according to the principal, Aaron Williams; among other staff. But then last week out of the blue I was harassed by Mr Williams, he told me that he had several complaints from staff members and parents and the PTC. Which I was made the president of by Mr. Williams and the media specialist. He also accused me of theft. Every time I try to advocate for my special needs child some sort of chaos happens in order to distract me from my goal. My child was refused a 504 which by law he is entitled to. Three times I have gone to them and was denied and not just denied but they did not follow proper policy for evaluating my child. There was extreme lack of communication with my sons teacher and she is very rude. I volunteered there for the last year-and-a-half, I had a great rapport with the staff and the students. I was given an award for being an outstanding parent! I was out there almost every day last year holding the stop sign voluntarily to make sure that your children were crossing the parking lot safely. I volunteered at every event I could including making popcorn and cotton candy on Thursdays for the children. But now I am banned from the school for no reason. I never threatened anyone, I was not violent, I did state I did not like how I was treated, which does not constitute my being banned from the school. On Oct 24th I asked to have my son transferred to another teacher because she was not a good fit for my son, the day that I did that is the day that I was harassed. The following morning on October 25th I was met by the security guard, Christopher Garland, who wouldnt even look at me, and was told that I needed to leave the premises and if I wanted my child to continue going to school there I could not bring him or pick him up. What parent in their right mind would want to leave a child unattended with a school like that? They are in violation of several civil rights not to mention harassment and character defamation. I have had to take legal action against them and I will do everything I can to ensure that no other parent or child suffers the way we have. Its an absolute travesty! They do not follow procedure, they do not follow state law. Upon further research after being banned from the school I discovered that National Heritage Academies has had several lawsuits against them for similar discrepancies. Now my special needs child is having difficulties because hes not in his school routine, while I find another place for him to go, he has begun to self-harm again (which he did on school hours at the end of last school year and none of the staff cared. Mr. Aaron Williams went as far as to tell me that if I did not hospitalize my child that he would grow up to be a school shooter!) out of frustration and he doesnt understand why he will not see his friends anymore. The TRUTH about Burton Glen is that you cannot speak the truth, if you say anything against the school, if you dont play their game they will do whatever they can to make you feel unwelcome and harass you. I will not stay quiet about this and neither will my legal team and the Autism Advocates that are working tirelessly to figure out what can be done. Do not send your children to this school, especially if they have special needs! Parents: I urge you to ask questions and to be bold, to have communication in writing, which they will not respond to because they know it will look bad for them, do not let them intimidate you because that is their tactic. All it is are mind games and all they care about are high test scores and the money they get. I know that jobs are in jeopardy as well as loyalty, but I do hope that some of the staff and the parents that I know personally who know the truth, will come forward and stand up against this discrimination. Do the right thing or you are part of the problem! If you truly care about the children that you teach, lead by example.

Multiple issues with the school. Staff lies to you and then avoids the issues brought to their attention. They had horrible communication skills with the children and their own staff. My child was in kindergarten and was previously in preschool at a different school and she loved it at preschool but cried every morning at BG. As soon as she got to Burton Glen her whole attitude changed about school. I started looking into it more because she loved school before and loves to learn so I couldnt figure out the issue here. Well then I started to see all the issues the more the school year went on. There was a lot of behavioral issues in the school and I dont think the staff knew how to deal with the kids. I heard a lot of the staff yelling at the children and speaking to them as they were grown. Every morning my daughter would cry when she would get to the school and her kindergarten class was at the end of the hallway of their 5th graders...The school had a young 5 thru 2nd grade hall but my childs class was an add on class so it was down a different hall and didnt have a bathroom in the class so my child was having to leave class and use the rest room with 5th graders and no adult was present. My child was also punched in the stomach by another child to the point to where she threw up and the principal refused to tell me who the child was or give me any information regarding the incident. Just a call to come get her because she threw up from being punched in the stomach but then expected my child to feel safe and return to school the next day with the same boy who violated her the day before. The school is very unsafe for children because the staff doesnt know what they are doing. The city bus transportation is a horrible thing as well. Those drivers go very fast and one child was injured. They changed the schedule and didnt inform the parents so I got off work and by 5:30pm my child still was no where to be found and she was normally off the bus by 4 at the latest and she is only 5. They also told me she would sit at the front of the bus with the driver but every day they dropped her off she was in the back of the bus with the older children and would tell me they were talking about bad things like taking their clothes off and she was only 5 years old! this school has MAJOR issues...my child also had over $300 worth of clothing come up missing as well. I would never, ever...ever recommend this school to anyone. I have been trying to spread the word on how bad the school is to save other families from this horrible experience. My child is in a new school now and doing WONDERFUL again like she was at the school previously to Burton Glen. You guys school do some major changes or close the school!
