My 2 boys struggled so bad in public school with repeating a grade and crying because of bullies. This school had made them excited for school and straight As and one even got the academic presidential award!!

Every person I know who has went there, has had an awful experience. My first year of middle school was spent there and my sisters last year of middle school. Now that I am older I can see that things that happened there were wrong. Bullying is such a huge problem there and its so bad and continues to be that way because the administration doesnt do much about it. Some teachers treat their students very unfair compared to other students. They dont give the hands on help that is needed for some students, very few teachers there do. I cant speak for the elementary school portion, but Im speaking from experience being in their middle school. Ive heard the same from others who have been there more recently than me with the same terrible experience. Stay clear of this place.

I have a high energy boy who went there for kindergarten. It was awful. Ruined his school experience and his self-esteem. He attended Lyndon the following year and they helped re-write both of our school experience. When your kid is complaining of a stomach ache every morning at 5 years old something else is going on. I’m sure it’s a good school for children that fit in a box but Jesus didn’t give me one of those!

It’s okay but it could be better. It needs some work on the outside and the teachers need to stay at the school and not leave. They shouldn’t keep secrets about things and keep it under the weather. They should be honest and come fourth with the truth

Despite the negative Nancys. This school provides kids what they do not get at other schools in district. That is, it works for the kids and parents that want to attend here. It is by far perfect and has the same admin problems most schools do. However the parents have a stronger voice here than you get anywhere else. Many other schools in distinct tell you that you are being to nosey or zealous. The teachers are excellent, and are very enthusiastic at teaching all kids and their learning styles. The parent volunteers requirement is fantastic, we get lots done , and parents really connect and get involved with their child at school. All in all the curriculum is above average taught, and the Cambridge program is a plus. Which challenges high level kids on their level. Another plus is if the school is not meeting your needs, you are allowed to leave. You are not trapped in a school that is not working for you or your child. HUGE plus right there.

School is phenomenal. New administration is wonderful and suppprtive. My child was significantly behind in reading and in just months was brought up to “on level” and I’m very impressed. Most negative reviews are about lunch quality and school lunches are never great anywhere, don’t let that be a determining factor as to where your child should go to school.

We moved our daughter here in kindergarten because at Sixes she was not getting the extra help she needed there. If we would have moved her to CCA sooner I don’t think we would have had to make her repeat Kindergarten. They are not perfect as no school is but my daughter has made a lot of progress in her learning. She has been going to CCA for 3 1/2 years. Our daughter loves CCA. The only bad thing is our daughter wanted to play basketball and until this year there wasn’t enough girls that wanted to play to have a team. Our hope is that they get High School part going before our daughter has to go somewhere else for high school. Our son will also be attending CCA when he gets old enough. We think CCA is a great School.

The worst school in Cherokee County! If you want your child to have subpar education, send your kid here. Kids test scores decrease from attending this so-called school. They just give out grades as if a grading system isnt in place for a purpose. Everyone gets a 100. Smh. The teachers dont seem to have the knowledge base to teach lessons based on whatever curriculum this school uses. The standards dont seem to be aligned with the Georgias Department of Education. There is favoritism so certain kids get privileges to do whatever they want while other kids are severely punished even for simple things such as defending themselves. I am not sure why this school hasnt been shut down yet. They dont even have the resources to create a positive learning environment for all. Differentiated instruction was not even in the classroom my son was in and the principal doesnt seem to even care about whats going on in the classroom. They use outdated teaching methods and many of the teachers need to be updated on classroom management. Makes you wonder if they are hiring certified staff or not. They do things there own way here and just throw protocol out the door unless its in their best interest. Many parents are dragging their kids away from this school and with good reason.

I love Cherokee Charter Academy. I am raising 2 grandchildren, both of which have special needs and I am so pleased with how the school works with me to manage their needs. I am pleased that each parent is responsible for xx number of volunteer hours so they are vested in their childs education. I have a 1st grader and a Kindergartener and I couldnt ask for anything more from the school. The teachers and the administration have been a pleasure to work with. Ive never found a kid yet that likes school lunches, its not Momma cooking so they dont like it.... so send your kid a lunch to school. I guess its like most things You get what you put into it. Yes, I would recommend Cherokee Charter Academy to my friends.

Our 3 kids have been going to this school since 2015. We have enjoyed our experience completely. Our oldest is in 7th grade now. We find that the smaller group of middle schoolers is ideal. They all know each other. Some people prefer the larger middle school environment and the extra curricular opportunities available there. But for our family this is perfect. We travel a ton and the school is very supportive of our Calander. I also love how much the kids are required to self-manage. The staff utilized many online tools for tracking and communicating about assignments and behaviors. The kids are included in those threads, which we love! Something else worth mentioning is the passion from the teachers. I mean, I think teacher these days have to be superhero-like in character anyway... but I fee like our teachers at CCA go above and beyond. Like, they all know my kids. And not because they’ve all taught them. The community there is just very close knit. And they are encouraged to be creative and well-mannered. We never have an idea and say, “Oh, the school will never go for that.” Everything we come up with they try to accommodate. It is my understanding that chartered schools receive less funding from the governments than typical public schools. So we depend on parent involvement and fund-raising. More work, perhaps. But the rewards are noticeable.Keep up the great work!

The elementary part of the school is very good and I would recommend it but the middle school is such a big jump from 5th grade to 6th grade there was less than 10 people to get all As and Bs compared to the 30or more people to get all As and Bs in 5th grade. It also puts so much stress on people that I feel like I either have to do nothing accept school, or fail it. A third thing to mention is their school lunches are terrible. But overall it is okay for a smaller school.

My son has made tremendous progress while attending this school. Hes made the honor roll several times despite being autistic. The teachers at this school are great and my son enjoys going to this school. However I am not pleased with the decision to suspend my son for a harmless prank that I agree he should be repremended for but suspension is absolutely rediculous. I called to speak with the principal and right away he was very disrespectful and his tone was one of well Im the man and you just have to accept it. I became very irate about him treating my son like a sex offender over a harmless prank. I told him that suspension was way to harsh a punishment for an autistic child who meant no harm. His attitude worsened as did mine during the conversation. This man has no right being the principal at any school. He is arrogant and over reacts with his punishment of an autistic honor roll student. This situation should have been handled by someone with some common sense and not by a dictator. My only complaint about this school is the principal Scott Oprey who refuses to meet with my sons mom and I to review what is clearly stated in my sons IEP conceening his developmental delays which cause him to be on a third grade level yet he is being punished as a 6th grader and his special needs are being completely brushed aside. This is unacceptable and it is flat wrong of Oprey to do this to my son right at the end of the year when he is the most happy to be at school. Now hes gonna have this absurd punishment on his school record for what Oprey calls an act of devience. Every time he hurls that label at my son my blood boils. This man is an IDIOT !!! This will never be over as far as Im concerned. I will fight this imbocile all the way to Superior court if thats what it takes. All he had to do was address my sons cognitive delays and punish accordingly. But no hes gotta be a jerk and now I gotta be a soldier and prepare to battle this big headed dictator til one of us gives up. That will happen when Im graveyard dead.

Most of the time the teacher curse, the lunch is nasty and mostly its the teachers. I got in trouble just because i had a spray bottle (it had water in it) and the water accidentally went on someone, and the teacher saw, so she took it from me and throw it away. So we went to Dr. Opray and he said he would have done the same thing. First of all, YOU CANT TROW AWAY A CHILDS BELINGS..... so i prefer tasley on some

Disorganized and poorly run. Most of the teachers are great but the administration is fickle to the point of obnoxious. Policies are plans are constantly shifting with little or no advanced notice. You cant count on anything, especially adequate communication. The heat was broken for several weeks during the winter so many of the downstairs classrooms stayed freezing. Earlier this year there was a lice outbreak, followed by Pertussis and presently scabies... hopefully by the start of summer well be infested by frogs or locust to round off this astounding school year. You cant make this stuff up guys. I predict that as the principal gains more experience the organization will improve, but someone else will have to tell me because we arent sticking around to experience it first hand.
