My 14 year old son and I are both new members. It is our first time doing jiu jitsu, so it has been a little intimidating. The owner and the professor have been wonderful to work with. Members here are extremely helpful and friendly. The professor teaches to all levels and takes the time to check in with every participant of the class to make sure all of our questions are answered. Working one on one with my son has been a great bonding opportunity. I highly recommend Fulcrum to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and have a good time doing it.

Ive been training here for a little over 2 years now. Im a lifelong martial artist, and have trained at quite a few different martial arts establishments. This is by far the best training environment I have ever seen. Professor Evan is an amazing black belt instructor that gives great feedback and personal instruction. There are also a large number of higher ranks that are always willing to share their knowledge. The community is amazing and supportive, and really builds you up. I cant say enough good things about this place. I would highly recommend getting in for a trial class and seeing for yourself.

Can’t thank the team at Fulcrum enough. Not only do I personally get premier Jiu Jitsu training myself, but this place has become like family to me and my two kids. Every single coach here, starting with professor Evan Barrett, are 100% dedicated to this sport and the students at this academy.Their patience with the kids classes is especially fun to watch. My kids have excelled here in ways I know that aren’t achievable in every single BJJ gym. If you want exceptional BJJ training in a welcoming environment, this is the place.

I came to Fulcrum looking for a place to learn and to fulfill a competitive desire. Since joining a couple months ago Ive been hooked. The members and instructors are fantastic, the instruction is organized and progressive, and the environment as a whole is fairly lighthearted. Theres multiple time slots to fit anybodys schedule so the only excuse to not come down is the one youre making up in your head. 10/10 would recommend

Awesome experience. I joined on a whim with absolutely zero experience with grappling or martial arts and have learned so much in the two months since starting. Excellent instruction and laid-back atmosphere where everyone feels welcome the moment they walk in. Lunchtime classes and late evening classes fit perfectly into my busy schedule, and I learn something new every time I show up. Membership is cheap compared to other studios and the workout is better and more functional than any amount of time spent at the gym. Show up for the free week trial and you will be hooked.

I’m 16 years old, I’ve been doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) at Castle Rock BJJ for one year. When I first came here I was pretty familiar with the basics after watching endless instructional videos and having some experience grappling. Since I started here, I’ve competed in six tournaments, and I’m the #1 Fight to Win teen boy gi and nogi grappler for 2016. That being said, I think Castle Rock BJJ is a great place to train regardless of what your BJJ goals are because of the people who train here, the way they run their business, and the exceptional facility. The number one thing I like about Castle Rock BJJ is that the people who train here allow me to train as a scientist of BJJ. Although they teach techniques in class, they also dont discourage experimentation and learning from DVDs, YouTube, other online resources, or other schools, and have been willing to help me with what Ive learned outside of class or experimented with. Most of the people who train here are very experienced and are good at answering questions and giving good suggestions to improve my game which gives the place a good one-on-one atmosphere. It’s very informal, there isnt an emphasis on etiquette, and the advanced members are very genuine and humble, which makes my time learning and training a lot more fun. If you want a BJJ school thats more formal with a clear-cut curriculum maybe Castle Rock BJJ isnt the right school for you. However, you may reconsider what you want (like I did) when you experience the atmosphere for yourself.Theyre also simple and genuine in the way they run there business. They charge a simple month-to-month fee with no belt promotion fees, exit fees, or other additional payments. And theyre genuine in the way they didnt suck me into a salesmanship vortex like Ive experienced from other schools. Overall I think the way Castle Rock BJJ operates shows that theyre not in it for the money. As far as class structure, at some other schools beginners primarily train with other beginners, and aren’t even allowed to roll live until they have two or three stripes, which can feel like a very long time. At Castle Rock BJJ, Since theres normally no more than 15 people who come to class, theres basically just two classes: the adult class and the kids class. Which is an advantage for beginners since they get to train and roll with the advanced members on a regular basis. And the one-on-one atmosphere makes the instruction accommodating for beginner and advanced students. To add to all of this, they also have an exceptional facility with my name written all over it. It’s downstairs, relatively low lighting, small but sufficient and is equipped with all you need plus more: a mat, a big wall mirror, sound system for music, a wall timer, and all sorts of exercise equipment including two pull up bars, sledgehammer with tire, bench press, barbells, dumbbells, kettle bells, jump ropes, jump boxes, medicine balls, swiss balls, a fan bike, a punching bag, punching gloves, and other equipment. Put it all together and you get a practical, cut-the-fluff BJJ gym that always leaves me wanting to stay longer. For what I appreciate in a BJJ school, I give Castle Rock BJJ five stars. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced grappler, its definitely worth your time to try out a couple free classes, meet the team, check out the facilities, and experience the atmosphere.
