Who hasn’t been defined by character or ability? “You are very musical”…or athletic, bright, or mathematically inclined, says a teacher. “You are tone deaf, clumsy, average, and have no aptitude for math,” says a grandparent.Defining a child is a common way to identify who he is, to locate something he is good at, to bolster his self-esteem, to place him in the right track in school, to direct his extra-curricular activities. And yet, in this act, we place limits on our students. At Ambleside, each child is seen as having vast potential. In fact, each one, exceeds our power of measurement. (Charlotte Mason) And so, refuse to place labels on them. Take them as they are and help them to become even better.IAmbleside provides what Charlotte Mason called a “living education,” where each child is exposed to a rich and rigorous curriculum in an atmosphere that is engaging and meaningful. With high expectations for each student and supportive teachers who mentor and guide, their potential is unlimited.

Fantastic experience with three of my children. Terrific preparation for high school. Challenging, but not overly stressful. Wonderful, warm community of parents, and teachers who really care about the students. Couldnt recommend more highly.

At Ambleside, my child is valued as a person who is coming to love to learn through a rich and rigorous curriculum, and lifelong healthy habits are being gently formed. The atmosphere supports real growth rather than fostering stress, and the teachers and warm community center on Christ.Charlotte Mason was the unlikely pioneer of a social and intellectual movement. Mason spent her life bringing “common thought on the subject of education to the level of scientific research.” Her theories were tested in thousands of English schools in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Teachers and children using her approach consistently flourished in knowledge and character, and continue to do so even today!!!

We have unfortunately been in 5 different school situations with our son who is now in 7th grade. .. we have been in 2 Douglas County charters, a magnet school, home schooled and attended another private school. ... we were just looking for a school to truly challenge our children, not just tell us that they were in the highest (reading or math) group. Not until we landed at Ambleside did we realize that there is the possibility to not only challenge our children academically but also hold them accountable for their choices. Having the teachers on the same page with us has made all the difference. If you are looking for attainable excellence (remember that it is different for each child) without sacrificing your family life to do it, this is a school you should check out for your children. Their goal is for retained and applicable knowledge not just a high score on a unit or standardized test. We only wish that we would have found it sooner in our process.
