I am the grandmother of a special needs grandson that is and has been attending Whittman for three years in a special needs classroom. His teacher is so great and the school itself is a wonderful place for may grandson. Parents are fighting for equal opportunity school of choice as the parents are fighting from year to year to keep their children in the same school. As of now, the grades tk-1st and then a jump (gap) 3-6. My grandson along with other students are in the gap. It is imperative for special needs children to have consistency. This is a devastating situation to the parents and children at ABC. Other districts offer a more humane source of education for these children, as all districts should. We shouldnt have to fight each year just to ensure that these children are being treat as equals. My daughter has an attorney standing by if needed, I cant believe it has come to this. If you were in this situation what would you do? Especially special needs children should not be shunned in this district or even in this country. Parents of these children have enough to do with out this non-caring situation from the district. Please give this consideration!!!!
