Excellent school with great teachers and dance programs. As both a dance student and a mother of a dance student i have experienced and seen dance classes of all different levels and continue to be super impressed.

We have had our kids dancing at Russell for 5 years and are very happy. They are getting safe, quality dance instruction in a supportive environment. This school is great for those interested in being a part of an excellent dance community that is non-competitive.

Russell School of Ballet is an amazing dance studio! The instructors are wonderful teachers! They are patient, kind, encouraging, and really gifted at tailoring the instruction to the needs of the students.  The dancers/students are wonderful and very supportive of everyone and to each other.  Karla, the studio owner, and the staff are also very supportive and helpful.  They usually perform a few times a year in the Fairfax Ballet Nutcracker and other performances.  These are very professional shows with costumes, set pieces, stage, music, choreography, and performed in front of audiences. The last few years we were also able to perform with the Fairfax Symphony at George Mason University Performing Arts Center performing the Nutcracker.  If you are looking for a dance studio no matter what your age or talent is - I highly recommend that you check out Russell School of Ballet in Chantilly VA.  I am a parent of a graduated student that attended Russell School of Ballet for 15 years.  With the instruction and experience received at Russell School of Ballet, my daughter was able to continue her ballet dance career in college.  Thank you, Karla and all the teachers and staff!

Our daughter has been attending dance classes at RSB for ten years. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time there and really likes the professional nature of the instruction. All of the dancers support each other and have developed a fine camerarderie.Many RSB students have gone on to become Dance majors in college, with several then becoming professional dancers. Our daughter will stay at RSB through high school, and we look forward to a few more years of great performances put on by the Fairfax Ballet Company, which is in residency at RSB.RSB is highly recommended for young, new dance students, as well as experienced dancers new to the area.

Russell School of Ballet provides the best and most well-rounded dance education in the NOVA area. During the current global pandemic, they are taking extraordinary precaution to keep the dancers and faculty as safe as possible. Because they care so much about their dancers, they also understand the importance of them not carrying home infection to their other siblings and family members. They are currently screening all who enter the school for elevated temperatures and symptoms. Class size has been reduced, and physical distancing is both clearly marked and enforced. Face masks are being worn by students and faculty as well. Parents are asked to wait outside the building and not in the lobby. As a Type 1 Diabetic, I greatly appreciate everything they are doing to keep everyone in their “ballet family” as safe as possible!

My daughter has been dancing for over 5 years at the Russell School of Ballet. The teachers at RSB are fantastic and have taught my daughter so much in terms of technique and skill. Weve been very pleased with her progress over the years and my daughter is always excited to go to class and learn. Weve also actively participated in the performances which has been a highlight of my daughters dancing. They are extremely well organized, affordable, and the friendships she has built as part of being the performance are unmeasurable. I constantly recommend the school to our friends and family. During the COVID pandemic precautions have been put in place (mask wearing during classes, sanitizer readily available both upon entering the school and in each studio, cleaning procedures, and temperature checks to name a few) to keep dancers and their families safe. I cannot recommend Russell School of Ballet enough and look forward to our daughter dancing for many, many more years here!

I am very happy with the training my daughter received at the Russell School of Ballet over the years. She was excited to get back into the studio for classes and as a parent, I was extremely pleased with the efforts of the school to ensure our dancers and staff were safe and protected. From wearing masks to cleaning and sanitizing the studios after each class, I was not worried about sending my daughter to class. Thank you RSB for keeping our dancers safe and looking forward to continuing classes.

My daughter has been taking ballet classes here since she was 6. They also have tap, jazz, and modern classes. She loves it here. She is a teenager now and is attending a summer intensive at a professional company in another state. The ballet training here is very good with an emphasis on proper ballet technique and ballet as an art form. As per organization, they post rehearsal schedules in the studio and online, send out emails regarding upcoming rehearsals, and hand out a yearly important date sheet at the beginning of the year which have all been great.

Im an adult who is passionate about dance. Ive been coming to this studio regularly for more than 10 years. It can be difficult for adults to find studios that take them seriously and dont just view the adult population as an inconvenience or afterthought. Here you are respected for your interest in serious training. They do not assume you are just there for a workout and understand you want to improve...and are capable of doing so with the correct instruction. Consequently, the teaching staff is attentive to giving appropriate corrections to adults as well as children. Ive been to many studios, and this is where I feel I have made the most progress.Classes are rigorous and attentive to musicality and performance quality in addition to technique. The studio and staff create a congenial atmosphere that is welcoming and not intimidating and cold as some places can be. I very much appreciate that they offer leveled classes for adults too and dont only have general, open level classes for adults. I find the corrective attention and progress you make is much better suited when the class level is consistent. The studio is also receptive to taking suggestions for trying new things. In the past it was the adult students who requested dedicated pointe class and intensive workshops and we have been accommodated.COVID note: Ive been back in the studio classes since 7/6/20 and all is well. This business adheres to the state guidelines (re: cleaning, availability of sanitizer, temperature taking at the door etc etc) and I feel safe. Its also easy to maintain proper distancing because of the size of the studio space and the barres are marked off as a guide for where to stand. Id encourage you to review the facility description on the website. Of all the studios I go to in the area, this is my favorite in terms of the size, shape of the studio and the floor (just the right amount of friction...not too slippery, no ripples or seams). LOL Dancers are very picky about floor quality due to both safety and performance concerns.

We’ve been extremely pleased with RSB for our daughter. She is thriving there as a dancer. The instructors are professional and caring and the students and staff have been very welcoming.

My daughter started when she was 3 years old. Now she is almost 6 and loves her teacher and school. I always got early important dates on the calenders via email and paper notices in her backpack. My daughters teacher loved her students and her job, and I always see everyone very happy at the school. I highly recommend Russell School of Ballet.

This is an amazing place!! So Professional, so kind and the teachers are amazing!! They are about the discipline and love of the dance! The staff and teachers show a true heart for the students, dance and reflection on the community! My Daughter is only 4 and is in her 2nd year - I believe in their mission and passion so much I ended up starting Adult Ballet classes myself! This is a place I could see my daughter growing up with and learning a lot from!

The administration is very disorganized. They dont have calendars in advance and only give you a weeks notice for rehearsals. The teachers can be easily frustrated. Do not go here & do not send your child here.
