I had Amy S do several different treatments on me and she was PHENOMENAL! She did an amazing job doing a lash tint, eyebrow lamination, facial and backcial! It was so relaxing and she explained everything very thoroughly! Amy is very calming and thorough in her work. I would recommend anyone to go there to get any of their massive variety of treatments! I’m going in next week to get my legs waxed!

I went in for a facial, along with a backcial today and had Amy as my esthetician. I was very pleased with both facials, and would HIGHLY recommend seeing Amy for any services. Amy is very meticulous, gentle, and calming throughout the whole visit. I was put to ease with her relaxing demeanor and felt taken care of. I have been going there for over a year and everytime, I do the director and instructors are very rude and pick on me. I hate that I have to deal with them in order to get a facial.The aesthetic side is very professional. I feel that they are prejudice against Hispanic and white people. They should sent out a survey to their students that have graduated to see what they think about because I am sure I not the only one. I wouldnt go to school here!

I would give this SCHOOL 0 stars. Do not attend CCI. It is a scam. The “educators” are lazy and don’t clean even the roaches in their spa ! “ Administration “ is also unmotivated and most of the time very rude about their work as well. It took me almost half of the school year attending to get my financial aid. I was initially told I would be getting taught certain things during esthetics school and ended up not even being taught it because how they sold it to me was that they would “hire” an instructor who teaches lashes and ended up never being taught and caught an attitude with me when I brought it back up. In the tuition it states that you will be given a kit the only “kit” I ever got in esthetics was from the brand they use at the school and it wasn’t much I could take home and work with until after I graduated was when we received our professional kit. I just do not believe students should pay for something up front for something they actually won’t / might not receive. Don’t get me started about Shaun. If you are attending specifically only for esthetics DONT DO IT ! Not only will he say things instructors should not say to students but he uses current and old students to educate the new students instead of teaching himself. Shaun has too much of an ego problem that will put you down to other students before he pulls you to the side to correct your work. He has only taught maybe 2 or 3 hands on classes but other than that it’s just the students teaching each other. He constantly insists that he does a lot at the school but most of the time he only sits at his desk and hardly answers your questions without an attitude. Shaun has always acted as if he has a bipolar disorder and will be with you one way and come at you another way. I could go on and on. Not only that but after graduating cci I definitely do not recommend this school for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AT ALL. I have found very little reviews on the educational side and would love for people to know how this school truly is. For $10,000 in tuition it is a JOKE. A sad pathetic joke I’m not sure if they don’t get paid enough.. but they need to act like it cause that’s a down payment on a house that 10k could have went to. Just don’t even bother attending

My mom and I had our haircut their today. She literally has bald spots on her head now where they used clippers so closely!! It is the most uneven and choppy haircut ever and looks nothing like the photo she brought. I also have a horrible cut but thankfully have enough hair left to go to another stylist and have them fix it. The instructor was notified that I was not happy, all she had to say what that it was what I asked for, it was not! I’ve never gotten my hair cut at a school before and had heard good things and didn’t think it would have been this much of a gamble. I have now learned from this mistake, learn from mine.

They cut and dyed my hair at an excellent price. She did a very good job. Im happy to support the school and/or girls enrolled in the school institute.

I graduated from this cosmetology institute in 1989 before Hugo hit Charleston. I received excellent training which I still use today. I won honors from the company I worked for including becoming a manager and manager of the year for the Southern Region. Customer Service was a big part of our training and if we as students had a problem with a customer we would call a manager for assistance.I have read all the reviews posted. My opinion is this does not sound like what I, as a student endured. If a customer has a problem you ask for an instructor whether it deals with price or a rude student.This institute has a top notch teaching staff and were always polite and customer service oriented. It makes me wonder if there was a problem with the client and student and knowing the staff at Charleston Cosmetology Institute if the problem was addressed there would never have been remarks like people have posted.I personally am very proud of the training I received. I NEVER heard the owner raise his voice!!! He always preached on customer service and assisting the customers needs so experiencing first hand his teachings I find it hard believing anything posted.

I have always had great service here as a client. The teaching staff is very hands on. The students are more respectful than Ive seen other Institute of Cosmetology. Ive been going now for at least 3 to 4 years. I dont go anywhere else.

I have gone to this school for years for my hair color and cuts. I have never had the same student twice process my hair, since this is a school and they are there to learn. I have a ton of hair and a lot of gray. I always walk out happy and never have any color bleeding. I get two to three colors each time. A color base low lights and high lights. I simply love the prices for these services have cost me several hundred per appt at reg salons. Everyone, especially the instructors are extremely nice and always fit me in. I have referred many friends as well. I highly recommend you give this cosmology school a try :)))

Went to this cosmetology school to see if I could get what I wanted. I had gone to a professional for years. I got Sylvia. She was the nicest and most detailed oriented person doing hair. I got highlights, lowlights, base color, and a cut. My hair looks great!! Just the way I have been wanting it! I got so many compliments on my hair the next day. Sylvia is the BEST! I need to find out where she is headed next after graduation!

I am so thankful for this school!! After moving to Charleston I looked at several schools that I wanted to attend before going to the Charleston Comsmetology Institute to do a walk through. They made me feel like a person rather than just another student so it my decision easy. Love the staff and educators and Im glad I chose this school!

Great place to get a great treatment.

This is a first. I walked out with the exact same style I went in with. The stylist DID NOT read the ticket, I DID NOT get the conditioning services I requested, my hair WAS NOT cut like I requested, and my hair is as dry and puffy as ever. I guess they just cant cut hair off the neck and make it short enough to spike and NOT CURL when thats what you request. Surprising, considering its a cut featured on the wall that I got there and have worn for years. To not get the deep conditioning even AFTER the instructor told the stylist it was on her card was the worst part. Very, very dissatisfied and upset. Theres no way Ill take my niece there now.

Yes more than a school its a family everyone helps everyone we dont see color but we like to do color Charleston Cosmetology Institute doesnt just teach you how to pass the State Board Test they also teach you to be Salon Success ready meaning you will be eligible to work in a shop and not just pass the State Board Test

Let me start off with the service. When I walked in the little white woman said they were not performing any more services for the day in spite the fact I was there before 3pm and their business hours were until 4pm on Saturday. The gentleman who was in charge walked by and he confirmed they were indeed still waxing. Then an average to slightly tall black woman came over to the counter placed a waiver of sorts on the counter for me to sign agreeing to the fact that my services would be performed by students and no liability etc. Nothing was explained she just said sign this. Luckily I went to a cosmetology school so I knew the routine my point is about service. I went for an underarm wax. Prices for wax were $10 & up. I asked specifically for the cost of my service. I was told $17. I work for for nail and wax salon where we charge $20 for an underarm wax by a licensed professional. The cost for the service sat a school should be for cost of materials right? I did not use $17 worth of product. Upon leaving i was greeted by the same black woman and i am now paying for my service and the price was now $18. I inquired about the difference (its about principle) and the answer was thats what he said. Then she scrambled to find a price list and point it out to me. I asked if I was indeed at a school to which she snatched my receipt off the machine for me to sign and said yes. My aesthetician was kind and did her best to be thorough. I left with a decent underarm wax but the service at the front desk is something left to be desired. The prices are unreasonable for a school to charge.

Simply horrible service. The girl who did my hair was mad she had to detangle it. Then wanted to complain and say I was hurting her back because she was pulling on my hair! The gel she used dried white on my edges so I have to wash it out and my ends look like trash. Wish I got her name so I could blast her out. Seemed like the more I complained the worse my service became. 😤 never again

The WORST customer service I have ever had! Dont know who the blonde with crappy red hair who was taking care of the desk was, but she had the worse attitude, she acted like she was being bothered by the simple questions of how much my daughters style would be, and when she told me the price I about fainted! Then when I told her, never mind, I would take her to the salon, she stated, It will be more expensive, and then stated she didnt think my daughters hair would stand up to being processed. I advised, only 10.00 more and my daughter can have the look she wants, and yes her hair would be fine. Then she slung a brochure at me and said, well bye then. Nasty attitude, will NEVER be back. And dont call for a price quote, because you wont get that price!!!

I have had my nails done for the last 9 years at Charleston Cometology Institute and I have never been dissappointed. I have had rounded, square, coffin, and stilletto styles thanks to great students out of each cycle. I had full sets typically with the exception of weekenders on one occasion. I attended prom, ROTC banquets, and military banquets with a beautiful set of nails every year. I made sure to come with an idea of what I wanted and they found a way to make each set personalised to the occasion. The head nail instructor personally did clear jelly stillettos with glitter for my senior prom in 2012 and they were fantastic!! My nails lasted longer each application thanks to the technicians here than a five-star korean nail salon in Sterling,Virginia. ☆☆☆ I have also had my hair color-corrected, reshaped and styled, and highlighted. The most recent time was in Spring 2018 and the technician was very friendly and patient and even accepted changes gracefully. Great guy.

This place has ghetto personnel, I took my mother and my daughter here to get their hair done and went home to take care of some business. I got a call from one of the instructors stating that there would be a price increase for what I had asked them to do to my daughters hair. I proceeded to tell the lady that I didnt want anything done to my daughters hair, when I returned to the establishment the lady at the desk, who had been rude and unprofessional from the time we entered asked me if I was going to pay for my daughters hair, I told her that I wasnt aware that they did anything to her hair because I got a phone call stating that there would e a price increase and I told the caller not to do anything to her hair. Out of no where the owner jumps in and starts yelling at me saying that this is not a daycare and you have no right to leave your child here unattended, I told him that my mother was there with my daughter and that the lady that was doing my moms hair and the lady that was doing my daughters hair was aware that she was in her custody and that I was leaving and coming back, He then goes on to respond by asking me why did they have to call me, I told him that I didnt request a call and that I didnt know why they called me, but since they did call me and I advised them not to do anything to my daughters hair that it was unprofessional to charge me for a wash, however I was in the process of paying for the service and I told him that he didnt have to be rude and that it was just ignorance on his part, he replied by saying you are ignorant, I replied and said no sir I am not ignorant and then I decided to drop it because this so called genius had already showed just how intelligent he was by accusing me of leaving my child there unattended and asking me why his employees called me, and then resorted to name calling. Unfortunately he is the owner and so therefore the customer has no recourse to complain, but I told the employees that he was very rude and that they didnt have to worry about me coming back there, and yes I will be telling everyone that I know not to patronize his establishment. I later found out that the rude desk attendant came over to my mothers hair and started raking clips into her scalp my mother said she had to tell her to stop because it was hurting and to stop, she left and then later on came back to help I guess she was having a bad day, because she was rude from the time we came in the door. This place is beyond ghetto, after the incident with the owner some of the employees were walking around whispering and obviously talking about me, but there is no love lost, I can find someplace else to spend my money, so sad there is no reason to treat people like that, especially customers !

I have been coming to this school for 4 years for facials. I enjoy the students and their stories/dreams for their futures. Today, I had The Most AMAZING facial from Amy. She went above and beyond professional. Her skills are amazing and she truly likes her new field. Thank you Amy!! I will follow where you go to work for your amazing touch girl.
