Mallard Creek High School has many resources & courses to offer. The sports programs are great & have won the school several championships & titles. The foreign language programs have been steady but with teachers becoming older, its become harder to keep up with the upcoming younger students. The food is average, some days the food is good & some days its terrible & inedible. The music programs have also been steady & have raised an all-state member & several musicians. Most of the teachers are wonderful & will respect you as long as you respect them; all around, teachers honestly do not get paid enough for the hours they work. The worst part is having to be at school by 7:15 AM, meaning most students have to wake up at 6 to get ready & catch the bus on time. They lock the school gates which can be very inconvenient at times because if you have an appointment to get to & the gates are locked, you might be late to your appointment because they can sometimes take forever to unlock them. its understandable for them to lock the gates so students do not leave to get lunch or skip, however as a student who cares about their classes & grades, its frustrating to have to wait & be stuck at school longer than you should be. They have a policy where you can use your technology in the common areas without consequence, aka the cafeteria, hallways, & courtyard, which is nice. The clubs & honor societies are great & are a ton of fun to be in. Over the past couple of years, Ive been a member of about 10 clubs & societies, which helped lead me to volunteer with great organizations & meet wonderful people. Bullying is not a huge problem here; most people mind their own business & there are clubs & teachers & administrators to offer support. The dress code isnt too strictly enforced which is nice because students, specifically females, are less likely to be attacked by teachers saying their shoulders & legs are distracting (which, by the way, dress code does not help with sexism in our society!) & dont even bother purchasing a locker, it will be useless & a waste of your money.

This school is a joke. We barely registered my son on Friday before school started we just moved from VA they rushed us and barely let us finish filling out the papers so they could rush to a meeting as if registering kids in the registration office is not the main goal. they did not give us a bus or class schedule then had him sit in the auditorium all day doing absolute nothing. No books no worksheets NOTHING. I am not sending him back to this silly country school until i know he will be in an actual classroom. Not off to a good start Mallard Creek need to work on your professionalism as staff and need better communication for patents who are not familiar with their unorthodox ways

The staff is rude a good majority of the time. The 1% of the time theyre nice, they are misinforming you and highly incompetent. There is only a handful of good teachers. I thought we chose well, coming from another state but now I regret it and dont want to move my child to another school again for stability reasons.

This school is crap. Compared to other schools in North Carolina it may be decent but thats because North Carolinas education system is also crap. The food is terrible. It starts at 7:15, which, studies have proven, is unhealthy for teenagers to be waking up at. I am a senior at this school and I feel like this school let me down. Today I asked the principal if they can allow me to take my class online next semester because Im starting a full time job in order to support myself and he said it wasnt likely because if he makes one exception hell have to make one for everybody which is absurd considering it should be the schools responsibility to ensure the success of their students. So far, Mallard Creek has failed to do so. Then when I got back to my car to drive home after my only class, I come to locked gates. YES THEY LOCK STUDENTS CARS IN THE PARKING LOTS. They think that this will prevent students from skipping class, going to bojangles, and smoking weed. Students do this anyway. The school has no right to make a student late to work, miss a doctors appointment, or wait at the school any longer than they should. It is in the student contracts that students must leave immediately after class unless they are with a teacher but how can I leave when my car is imprisoned in the student parking lot? No student likes this school unless they are a freshman who doesnt know what they are in for. If you are a parent looking to send your kid to a new school, move out of North Carolina.

I graduated in 2016 and I went back to get my transcript and the lady in the counselor office was rude.. she said that they no longer have any information on me and that I have to do it by myself. She wasnt even going to offer me any information till I said something. Then when I talked to an old teacher of mine he said to talk the front of office so I did so and the white lady in the front was also rude.. I guess if we look like students they are just going to talk to us any type of way ! Wow great job Mallard Creek keep up the horrible work 👌🏼 God I hate coming to this school! Worst school I have even been too

This school has a horrible way with handling students with mental health issues, I had graduated from this school in July so it started when I had gotten sick in may and at this time the school knew about this cause of the doctors note they receive due to my illness when I had finally recovered they had received a call from my aunt she had told them that I was depressed and I needed to talk to someone there now. The schools response was to just to go get a physic evaluation so I was told by my guidance counselor I couldnt come to school until I get the evaluation so I was two days behind in my school work plus school work that I was already trying to make up on. At this point I was just tired of everything that this school was doing to me. So they found a note that was mine apparently thinking that my guidance counselor was the person to talk about it with, so she started of with telling Oh dont do this it hurts you and everyone around you , we are going to help you so dont cry. Giving me tissues and then she basically started telling me Youre failing all of your classes and that you might graduate next year. Like who would say that to someone whos already trying to battle with their depression. At this time I was trying to go to prom which I had told my guidance counselor about how I wanted to go and Ive been trying to save money to get my ticket since my father or mother couldnt afford to give me money for anything so I was going to be paying for everything. So that same day I had gotten my evaluation and I was traumatized because of dealing with being treated like a criminal at a hospital because they treat patients as if we arent normal , I was only in that hospital for a day when I got out I went to school the next day and I went to go get a ticket for prom and the woman had told me Im sorry I cant give you a ticket even if you were at the hospital, you should have gotten your ticket earlier. Im not asking for a pity party but this is a horrible school and I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone.

Best school I been to in the Carolinas, it aint perfect, but if youre in athletics, trust, youre gunna get right. For the most part, your kid will find their niche here so long they put forth the effort and I think thats all that matters in regards to school.

Horrible 10th grade experience. Son was new to the school for 2015-2016 school year. Was not placed in the right classes in terms of academics. When an attempt was made to change his classes the school was unresponsive. Highly overcrowded. My sons teachers were defeated by the disciplinary issues in their classrooms and in many instances they were not able to deliver or finish the material for the day. We were fortunate to learn about the CMS lottery/magnet programs.
