I really was impressed with the building and staff. The hygienist was very kind and friendly and the dentist was also very friendly. It felt like I had been going there forever and it was my first visit. Where have this office been all my life. I had been going to the same dentist for over 20 years but I feel like I made the best decision to go to General Dentist of the Carolinas. Very satisfied new patient. Thanks staff.

After waiting months for my appointment, the office called me TWO DAYS ahead of time to tell me that I would not be allowed to bring my 3 yr old into the exam room with me (which they knew about the whole time and had cleared when I booked the appointment). They told me that I would need to leave her in the lobby. That’s a crazy suggestion to make for a 3 yr old! So after months of waiting I had to cancel my appointment. How is a stay at home parent supposed to go to the dentist at this office?FYI the “COVID protocol” excuse is nonsense, no other medical office I’ve been to this year has suggested anything as insane as leaving my 3 yr old alone and unaccompanied in the waiting room.

I have been going to this dentist since I was 7 years old. My dental hygienist, Katie, is such a sweetheart. She always asks me about my life and remembers the small details. She has always been patient and never harmed me while cleaning my teeth and I feel like one of the few who enjoys his dental appointments because they treat me well at this office.

Horrible customer service by front desk employees. I was called once to confirm my appointment, I was unable to answer the call since am a nurse and busy with patients. When I called back to confirm my appointment I was told that my appointment was canceled and taken by someone else already. I went through a great ordeal to get the time off from work to be able to make it to my appointment. When I asked for explanation I was told I was called several times which was a lie since I was only called once. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was informed by the person that I was speaking with that she was the supervisor (Raquel) I asked Raquel for my Dentist email to inform her of what happened and was not given her email but provide with a random email instead. I really loved the treatment I received from my dentist Karin Cabana but I will not be returning to that location and neither will be my husband and daughter who were also patients there.

Great experience since my husband and I have been going here for our cleanings. The staff is also pleasant.

All I can say is excellent customer service!! I was a little nervous (the dentist after all) but they quickly put me at ease. They made you feel like family right away.Robin and Dr. Cabana- Thank you!!

Im a sixty-three year old male who experiences dentophobia every time I go to the dentist. Ive had this fear since my first dental visits as a child. Were it not for the patience and professionalism of Dr. Cabana and her staff, dental visits would be near impossible for me. Ive been Dr. Cabanas patient for several years; her empathy, and her calm and patient demeanor are what gets me through each procedure. Whether it be fillings or crowns Im needing, Dr. Cabana and her staff offer the best dental care Ive ever had. I cant emphasize enough how much I appreciate the comfort and confidence she and her staff has afforded me during these past years. And I want to give kudos to Katie, the dental hygienist who is always cheerful, welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable. She does her job well. Thank you Dr. Cabana and staff.

I was told after the initial x-ray that my tooth that was hurting will be extracted. For that a panoramic x-ray is needed. $120 was charged for that. Once that x-ray was done I was told that doctor will refer me for extraction to another clinic. Didnt understand why that panoramic x-ray was done if extraction was not supposed to be done at the same clinic. I think this was not necessary. I was charged for something that was not required. Disappointed with the service not recommend anyone. As per there response called them. Waisted my time, I have gone to family dental clinic dor extraction and been x-rayed again and being charged for that. Will escalate this matter to the highest level.

I had another great experience at my DOC appointment today. Even though I didn’t receive good news I found out what my next steps are to repair the 2 teeth that are causing me discomfort. Dr. Cabana and her team always make me feel like family and truly care about my well-being. They even locked in an appointment for my son without hesitation when told that he needed to come in for his annual check up.Looking forward to seeing them in the New Year!

I loved Dr. Cabana and Robin. They both were very nice. Dr. Cabana was very knowledgeable and great at what she does. They both made this the best dentist experience I’ve had in years!!

The waiting area reflects the staff, which is warm and welcoming. Both the hygienist and the dentist explained everything that was being done. They spoke to me not at me (very important) and made suggestions on my upcoming treatments. I was reassured that they would do what they can to minimize my discomfort.

Katie and Dr. Cabana were wonderful! Ive had gum issues for a while now and they were very careful around the sensitive areas. I get very nervous going to the dentist because my mouth always hurts for days after a cleaning but they made it a very positive and pain-free experience. Will be back for sure!

I went in for a cleaning at Dentistry of the Carolinas. The service was great as it normally is! My appointment was at 2:40. Robin, my dental hygienist came in and got me a few minutes before my scheduled time. Shes always pleasant, upbeat, friendly, humorous, and professional all at the same time. I like that Im not waiting in the waiting area long and that Robin is fast but does a good thorough job with my cleaning. I love this office and Ive recommended it to my coworkers.

The team here is really great! I havent been to a dentist in a really long time due to anxiety from a bad past experience. I asked my sister who she sees and she told me about Dentistry of the Carolinas - University. My initial visit, I met Katie, dental hygienist. Very nice and told me to let her know any time when I needed a break. Dr. Cabana was amazing and very welcoming as well. I ended up needing fillings and had to return for those. When she and her assistant, Laura found out it was my first time, they both were extremely understanding and talked me through it. Dr. Cabana is awesome and Laura is, too! I highly recommend this office!Even the office staff is very nice and welcoming. I have been to medical offices where the staff just takes your information and then have you sit down. This office staff makes you feel at ease and very welcomed.

Have been coming to DOC for the past few years. I was wowed the first time I came and I continue to be. I have referred numerous people to the practice, family, friends and coworkers included. They all have the same experience as well. First of all, they are intentional with their care for their patients. Starting with the ambience in the office. Why am I using the word ambience in reference to a dentist office you ask? Well, Ive never been in one that makes you feel calm and welcomed from the moment you walk in. The lighting is soft, the colors are soothing, they even have a leg massaging chair! The front desk staff are ALWAYS professional, friendly, helpful and know me by name. My gentle hygienist is wonderful. Katie is extremely competent in her job, is always friendly, if she ever has a bad day when Im there I dont know it. Everyone is a team player. Dr. Cabana is just extraordinary. Intelligent, caring, knows her stuff, great communicator and appears to be well respected by everyone there. I dont have issues with going to the dentist in general but many people do and this practice goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable. My kids even enjoy coming here! I switched them from their pediatric dentist and have never looked back. I am being completely honest when I say I actually am excited when I get the reminder text of my appointment because I know itll be an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend DOC.

Oh man do I hate going to the dentist. It never fails to be miserable and unpleasant...until I went to DOC. I was very shocked and the experience was great overall. I was taken to have my cleaning completed shortly after arriving and I felt the Dentist actually listened to what I wanted then explained THOROUGHLY what my options were. I immediately booked another appointment with them and a cleaning in 6 months.

DOC - University is great! Ive been going here for a few years now and have always had great experiences. The Dental Hygienist, Katie is excellent. She seems to genuinely care for her patients as she always takes the time to answer questions and give advice to improve oral health. Dr. Cabana is great too; shes very meticulous in ensuring fillings and crowns are perfect. The assistants and receptionists are always very friendly and helpful as well with scheduling and insurance questions. Overall, Id highly recommend!

I have been a patient of Dr. Karin Cabana since Dentistry Of The Carolinas took over the location previous practice. Many of the staff remained, especially my hygienist Robin as well as the one who cleans my husbands teeth (sorry that her name escapes meat the moment). These fine ladies have taken care of my familys teeth since my adult sons were in elementary school. As for DOC, the office is extremely clean, decor pleasentries and the office staff do their jobs very well. Dr. Cabana is kind, very aware of maintaining the patients discomfort level as low as possible and her work on my teeth looks great from a cosmetic standpoint. I have major anxiety related to loosing any of my teeth which is exacerbated by a medical condition that causes very dry mouth. Dr. Cabana does all she can to relieve that anxiety, which I feel confident would extend to those who are anxious about getting into a dentists office. DOC also accepts several insurance plans & due to the fact they are a group of offices, I have had all emergency calls returned quickly. Another plus, the practice has some Friday appointments available. To sum it up, my experiences with DOC have been great! I would highly recommend DOC to anyone in need of a dentist. DOC has offices all over the Charlotte metro area.5+ stars to the University office.

I think I have finally found my dentist here in Charlotte after a year of disappointments with other dentists. Ms. Kim is wonderful, patient, and has a motherly vibe that puts you at ease. She took great care of me while she installed my temporary crown. I also met Diem Le who took care of me while Ms. Kim had another patient. Diem was also very warm and made sure I was comfortable. She even helped me invite DOC to a health fair I was organizing at my university. And the last person I want to talk about is Dr. Cabana, I spent the least amount of time with her but she was also great. She explains all the procedures and warns you every time something might be a bit painful so you can prepare yourself but its never too painful. She installed my permanent crown and I feel a lot better, I can finally eat somewhat normally and the sensitivity in my tooth has gone down by 95%. I definitely recommand DOC they will take good care of your teeth and you.

This is office is so convenient and nice. There are leg massagers in the waiting room and it is so relaxing. I dont like going to the dentist so this helps a lot! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely be going back to this office!

After my previous experiences with Dentist in the past, I have stayed away from getting my mouth and teeth taken care of like I should have. I have to say, my first visit was very nice. The staff made m feel very comfortable. Today I returned to get some treatment(Phase One). I was totally satisfied with everything, from the time I entered the office, and after leaving. I can honestly say, I have found the best Dentist Office ever. After I am done with all my treatment, I will continue to schedule cleaning appointments, might even drop by just to say hello.

My experience today was great. I did not have to wait long and I was very happy to leave after having a cleaning and not have my entire mouth in pain as I have felt in the past at other dentist offices. Everyone was very friendly and nice and it was just the best experience that I have had in a while at a dentist office.

I went to this office my entire life (while it was owned and operated by multiple dentists) and I have always enjoyed the ladies at reception and that did cleanings however, the work done by the current dentist in the past three years was a joke. I will never return to this office! I went when my filling came out and the tech asked me if I was sure I had a filling in that tooth (as she stood a foot and a half from my life long records), another time they called my emergency contact to see if I could come in early for an appointment because they had a cancellation (not even waiting 5 mins to allow me to return their call from when they attempted to call me - not what an emergency contact is for). And this last bit of work I had done left me in pain for months (5 visits later) they told me there must be something wrong with my jaw and referred me somewhere else. Turns out the pain that started immediately after the numbing wore off was due to the nerve in one of my teeth dying and making a root canal necessary... but it took going to a different dentist to figure that out. When I got the root canal it hurt less than the filling did at this office... which to me seems a little backwards.

The entire staff is friendly, patient, and professional. I came in for a consultation after years of not going to the dentist, and they made me feel comfortable rather than judged. We developed a plan I could take at whatever pace worked for me and my insurance coverage, and Ive had nothing but great experiences in treatments since!

My visit was kind of heart breaking because I did not know the damage I needed to fix. Summer was wonderful, also the Doctor. I was treated great and I am for sure going to complete my transactions here with these lovely people!!!

I recently visited the University Area office were I had the dental assistant by the name of Ellen. My appointment was at 1 pm and it was for the initial 1st patient visit. I already had x-rays from a previous dentist emailed to the office. The dental assistant Ellen was very nice and greeted me graciously at 1pm. As the appointment went on I became very disappointed in the overall treatment by the dental assistant Ellen when I told her that I had come for a second opinion everything changed she begin to scrutinize me and talk to me as if they wanted to deny me treatment due to me visiting this office second. The appointment ended up lasting well over an hour and after the last time Ellen came in to finally give me my treatment plan and again start to scrutinize me for getting a second opinion I finally asked her why she felt the need to continue to say these things to me. Ellen response was of course a general denial statement that she was not doing this to be rude etc. Nonetheless I will and can say this that my overall experience with the dental assistant was very unpleasing but I am scheduled for a cleaning and hope that the experience will be totally different.

Dr. Cabana and the entire staff are fantastic. I had my first crown and a filling during the same visit. I had been told by friends what a painful experience the crown procedure would be. Dr. Cabana and her hygienist made it as pleasant as possible. I have had individual fillings done by different dentists that were much more difficult.

My experience with Staff, Hygienist and the Doctor was fantastic. They are genuine with the advise and recommendations. I look forward to continue visiting this place for my family dental needs.
