An amazing dual language Catholic school, the only Catholic dual language school in all the Archdiocese of Chicago! The children are immersed in spanish all day long and when they graduate they are fluent in both english and spanish. Our daughters entered in preschool and kindergarten and we are blown away with how much their spanish has improved, especially in accents in only a few months. I see and hear older students presenting in spanish and cannot wait for my children to be that fluent in a few years! The teachers and administrators are very supportive and always available to meet. It is a hidden gem in Pilsen and Chicago!

I attended this school for 3 months of 8th grade back in 2005. Most classes, even core classes were in spanish only while others can be in either language depending on your choice. That was challenging for me because Im a puerto rican who didnt know spanish, but Id say its a positive. The teachers here were VERY caring and were just teachers. The only name I can remember is Ms. Medina, she was my favorite. I was a class clown with potential, and she had a multitude of patience with a stern attitude but also concerned and caring nature. Great teacher. The only negative from the staff, a very GLARING negative, was the principal. A white male whose name escapes me, and I wish I had remembered his name for this post. He was the coach of the basketball team, he didnt help us in practice. Another player Chris, and myself were the coaches basically. The principal I can not confirm was racist, but he DEFINITELY didnt connect with ANYONE, the students or teachers. Cold and calculated. He always had a look of disdain when interacting with everyone. He was a miserable man or racist IDK.The students themselves were as you would see in any other school. Ive been to all white schools in Evanston, all black schools by the United Center, and mixed schools in Logan Square. There is racism and prejudices everywhere, and this school is no different. Generally the students were nice and accepting, but if you werent mexican, you were an outsider and they treated you as such. The only thing that was nice about the racism I received was that at least I was called proper puerto rican slurs, as every other school called me mexican slurs because Im clearly latino.IN CONCLUSION, IF the principal is still there after all these years, then I recommend not having your kids go here. If your child isnt mexican they may be bullied because of it and thats life, just be ready to help them cope, and try to help shape a positive world view from the bullying instead of just another victimized child becoming a counter racist. In laymans terms, not everyone from the culture you received racism from is racist, and you shouldnt be racist because of it. Please teach this to your kids. OVERALL, I did have a positive experience there, it does beat going to a public school, as Chicago Public Schools are where kids go to be sad statistics more often than success stories.
