Do not send your kids here. They tell you what you want to hear and the kids come out suffering. Not to mention fights and car accidents in the parking lot. I did a lot of research before I sent my kids to school here, one with IEP and all it took was one day to realize they dont care.

I went here from 2nd to 8th grade. I am currently a freshman in a new highschool. I miss this place alot. I wish I could come back

2021 update.This school has been such a let down lately and they tell you what you want to hear and your kids will be the only ones to suffer. They arent CPS and they dont offer online classes. Bullying is a problem that I have seen and experienced from this school with my kids for 6 years that they attended and still continue to place my child in the same class with the bully child. So many inconsistencies and when you ask a question or comment something they dont like on their website or dojo they deleting your comment along with the post to cover up their tracks, or never get back to you and drag till you keep Calling and pestering them. Im thinking that this will be our last year there. Its been 5 years with good experiences at the beginning it as the older staff leaves and new people comes in its been less and less of the Horizon we once knew.No I do not recommend this school to anyone anymore

I was excited about an interview I had at this school as a special educator of over 30 years. I heard awesome things about the school and it is beautiful with a lot of good energy. Everything was going well until the PRINCIPAL presented me with an offer. Without even remotely perusing my resume, he said that THEY offer an additional 1k for every year one has been teaching. He then asked me how long have I taught and I told him 30 years!! He then made up a statistical personal formula that totally negated the 1k per year he previously stated. I could not BELIEVE my ears and even the case manager seemed amazed at this new math!!! This is an obvious case of ageism and I am debating if I wish to pursue this legally. SO unprofessional and just reeks of bad business practices!!

My daughter goes to this school. Very good school, very good teachers, great sports n clubs. She is doing much better than her last school. She will be at this school til she graduate high-school. I recommend this school all parents for there children.. u wont be disappointed.......

My daughter has excelled a lot since being at this school! This will be her 2nd year here and I am more than glad that I made the decision to bring her here. The teachers are caring, the principal and the staff know myself and my child on a first name basis. I appreciate the learning, the safety, and the educational fun they provide to my child. They have free before care, free bus service, $15 a day for after care, and superb education! There is no school in this city that can beat all of this! Great school and I would recommend it to anyone!

Just have to say since my know 9th grade daughter started coming here and my know 4th grade son and my kindergarten is here I can’t say but good things about the school the staff and is just great my kids don’t get have good grades and no bullying is allowed a respectful environment

SAFETY!! PLZ PLZ READ!!!!!!!Why isnt there -⭐ because I would give them the lowest there is when it comes to safety and responsibility (teacher called LUNA) long story but will try and make it short....went out to a field trip 5/28/19 to the zoo I volunteer to be a chaperon from the start Ms. LUNA never acknowledged me or say who or how many kids were going to be my responsibility.....my son handed me a piece of paper with kids names luckly my son knew who they were....we went to the trip...got out the bus with no teacher around (never was on bus either) there was no plan what so ever....from hearing from other parents knew that we had to be at the pick up point at 1250 pm......time came to meet and saw two buses getting filled with kids and left except myself and two other moms with 11 kids....20 mins later I called the school to ask about the bus and were shocked to know there was no teacher with us and no bus....mins later bus showed up again NO Ms. LUNA around finally arrived to school and asked to speak with the dean of buses/fieldtrips ? Oookkk....he was shocked, while we were complaining a phone call came through about a mom and two other kids left behind at the zoo!!! Wow!!!! And the teachers were happily at school.....Ms. LUNA very comfortably sitting down in the playground next to the school..never acknowledged me when she saw me arriving.....while waiting to speak with MR Principal (SMH) she (ms.luna) walk by me 3 three times one including brushing my shoulder and not once said hi or apologized for the incident....still waiting on the outcome for the incident principal called me later saying they had a meeting and all he heard were eccuses.......from other sources I learned that ms.luna said she wasnt aware of a third bus !!!!!!!! WHAT???? REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY BUSES THERE IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO TO A GEAD COUNT OF PEOPLE BEFORE LEAVING SCHOOL AND ONE RETURNING TO SCHOOL to which no head count was done!!!! Plz plz take care of your children if this is the school of your choice...there were other parents complaining about same issues that happen few days prior as they heard me complaining...obviously no improvement has been done....I will take it up another level.....my son is currently in a waiting list to be enroll in another school I really hope they call......wish me luck!!

My daughter attended kindergarten this year at this school. OMG she learned so much. She knows how to read, add, subtract, knows all her shapes, colors, and many more. Her teacher Mrs. Mitchell what a great teacher. Great communication with the parents. Always answer any questions you had. I will miss Mrs. Mitchell but u will see her again next year. I highly recommend this school.

My son loves his classes and his teachers. I love that his teachers continue to challenge him and help make him into an outstanding student.

I love my school great teachers im 7th grade still learning and the life cycle know what all you can put in your brain in science is the best. We have great sport teams and coaches. GO HUSKIES

I love the school and you should send you children here. I attend the 8th grade and Im learning so my more than my old catholic I went from a D student to all As . Dont believe Mr. Urrtia. Or whatever his name is. And if u want your children to learn, send your kids here.

I transferred both my kids into Horizon after friends and family members told me it was a really good school and they actually teach their students at grade level. I had my kids in Uno charter on 47th st. And transferred my kids after finding out that school does not teach at its grade level. My daughter is in kindergarten and they were teaching her 2nd grade work. My daughter would literally cry to go to school because the work was to hard for her so I decided to transfer her and my son into Horizon!!! And now Im happy and my daughter is happy too👏👏🙋🙋

This is school is by far one of the best schools that my children have attended very good teachers I havent had any problems with my daughter and her school work she is excelling further than she was at her previous school

Far as education this school is pretty fair,but safety wise absolutely not save,and children running the halls supervision is horrible,they let my 8year old cross western boulevard with an 8 Greader without knowing they had left the school.. she will not be attending this school nxt year thats not even the biggest incident involving my childs safety😪

I gave this school 3 stars because my children do not attend this Hsa location but at a different hsa school. .However, I dropped my niece off at this school and the staff at the front seem more so serious and very socially detached. It bugs the crap out of me that parents arent really allowed to pass the doors into the school hallway. In order to speak to a teacher you have to make an appointment. Like wth? Im just very happy my kids dont attend this HSA school, because the McKinley Park campus is much more family oriented and let the parents talk to the teacher after school (without an appointment)..

Worst expierence Ive had working in a school. Was constantly lied to. Seen teachers change athletes grades I order to be eligible to play in sports. Seen child abuse get swept u der the rug. Seen special education break many cps rules. Mr. Yildiz is an overpaid paper pisher and has his minions. Do his work. Dont send your kids here. Ghetto fabulous.

First year my children attend. I have any kindergartener, 2nd grader and 3rd grader. My children LOVE. Horizin. School is new and they have lots of activities for children, teachers are AWESOME! Parent involvement isnt the greatest, BUT Im optimistic theyll come around and make HSA even better! ❤❤❤

It used to be really good, but this school being selective enrollment is a joke to me. There are still many people that get Ds and Fs and get into fights and treat this school like crap. Somebody in my class stole money from a teacher just last week. OVER $100! Only suspended 2 days. Thats ridiculous. This school needs a better disciplinary system, better academic standards, and just better students. Selective Enrollment? Pfft. I see students in that school that get 1-2 detentions a WEEK, if not more. AND they also get well below average on tests/grades. And they dont even care. I am a student at this school, And im transferring as soon as possible.Edit: I am transferring out of this school to Seattle. Thank god
