Will not recommend kids have to wear uniform students cant move around and will pick on your child all day teachers will call parents before school starts about your kid!

As a write this, KIPP One Academy (the middle school) has been named the #1 school in Chicago for the second consecutive year. This includes all schools (public, charter, private and parochial.) This is a great accomplishment seeing as how this school is located on the west side of Chicago.The teachers at KIPP One Academy are accessible by phone until 8pm every evening. I have found them to be very responsive. The teachers work with one another by grade and subject. This is so there is consistency in approach and curriculum as children advance throughout the school. For example: 5th grade teachers know what the 6th grade curriculum is so that they can best prepare the children for the next level and so on.There are plenty of opportunities for parents to volunteer. They are also welcome to just drop in and observe class whenever they want to. All visitors must sign in though.Homework is extremely reasonable. It should be completed in 30 minutes to an hour. Nothing excessive. Plus teachers are available to assist if necessary.The middle school offers a variety of after school programs to choose from. From the traditional (basketball, soccer, track, etc.) to the non-traditional like meditation, robotics, yoga and board games to name a few. I believe that they offer more after school programs than any other KIPP school nationwide.I truly love this school. They dont just focus on reading, math and writing like typical institutions. They focus on developing a strong work ethic, self-discipline, holding yourself accountable for your actions, perseverance and integrity. They care about the adults that these children will grow into.

Both of my daughters go here what I love about this school my 5 year old is talking about what year she will be going to college my 5th grader also . They are so excited about college and the teachers are available until 8pm . The entire staff really cares about the students . I am so glad that I decided to send my kids here .

This school is horrible right now i am typing from my sisters account they have to sit on the floor everywhere we go and read a book which is difficult because we look up to see where we are going we get what they call a deduction and if we dont look where we are going then we are going to fall and My sister quit an after school program called orchestra cuase she didnt feel that it was for her and they were constantly pulling her out of class to question her which led to her crying tears of anger they also cancelled her favorite thing to do called basketball becuase she quit I really Hate This school
