Enrolling in Illinois Media school has been one of the best decisions Ive made. Starting out I was a little nervous but it has definitely enhanced me as a person and one seeking to master my profession. The question you will always get from the staff is How are you doing? I was amazed at the concern the staff had in helping me with my work and assigned projects. I can say Im glad to be a student and soon alumni of the school. I have learned what I needed to know and more.

The staff on campus has been very helpful and willing to help me learn the day I stepped foot on this campus. They have helped me in both my professional life and my personal life and most importantly when I have given up on myself they continue to give me the motivation to move forward and because of that I have hope for my future in media. If you are thinking about attending Illinois Media School there is no need to think anymore because its a decision that you will never regret!!

Iโ€™m a returning student! I left because of the unprofessional services! The school was cliqued up and though this industry requires networking, I feel like if you werenโ€™t locked in you got the short end of the teaching. Donโ€™t get me wrong, some of the instructors were dope, while some were garbage! I stayed discouraged and eventually left. Iโ€™m back and itโ€™s still not worth giving my financial aid or my hard earned cash! You only get 1 hour teaching and homework due the next day! While this is a fast paced environment, you canโ€™t even complete assignments because of the faulty and limited equipment! The director of campus Chicago blocked me from my classes at one time and had me logging in as a guest other times, preventing me from chatting with my group and receiving assignments! She even tried to slander my name and exaggerated the truth! I reached out to the better business bureau and to NelNet to see if they can help. Today. I emailed a director and Iโ€™m waiting for a response! I like to deal with facts and Iโ€™m straight forward, so hopefully we can get a resolution! I wonโ€™t say that itโ€™s a bad school, As with anything else I would just suggest you research and choose wisely before you dive in! Iโ€™m giving a second chance because I want to finish what I started, but I tell you, everytime Im there, I question myself WHY DID I ENROLL HERE, OF ALL PLACES? Iโ€™m ready to GIVE UP AGAIN!

This institution will not let me drop my class after I specified my disinterest. This is a proprietary school and they are only after your MONEY. DO NOT GO HERE. Your classes are only one hour, leaving you with no time to retain knowledge and you donโ€™t learn your craft anyway. There is a large rigmarole around the structure - they are moving buildings at the start of the semester. There is no contact details to reach administration when needed. I went to the school to talk about the disorganization and though online specified the school was open - no one was there at 3pm.A complete waste of time and I donโ€™t see it lasting in the near future.Update: Spoke Administrative Director, very nice and understanding and was able to help with my withdrawal from this institution. The Chicago location needs a lot of reforming and it could be a good media school.

Illinois Media School is great if you want to get your foot in the entertainment industry, and IF this is something that youre PASSIONATE about!!From the top down, the education coordinators and directors, Lauren and Tinka, theyre amazing!! The teachers, Os is a great teacher!! Really learned what he was teaching!! Fred too!! And LaDonna is super awesome!! Then you got the teachers from Miami, Walter, Carlos, etc, who are really professional!! And Olivia, the student coordinator, always has your back and pushes you to work hard and maximize your potential!!Just make sure you attend the classes on campus all the time, and listen and pay attention to what theyre teaching!! Ask questions!! Go over it, again and again!!They have a variety of classes, youll touch up on radio broadcasting and how to create your own show and learn the format, how to create and run your own podcast, camera, Wordpress, LinkedIn, Audition, Premiere, creating a video package, news segment, music video, etc.Im just excited to learn all these new things and acquire new skills, to add to my arsenal!! Its so much fun learning these new things!!But most of all what I REALLY love, it will give you structure as an individual!! A direction!! And things you didnt know you were interested in, in the first place, youll discover that you now like...!!Just be serious, learn as much as you can, and take advantage of all that theyre offering you!! I think youll be fine... :) ;)

I attended Illinois Media School back in 2007. IMS placed me in a internship downtown where I instantly started to make connections to people in the industry. Directly after graduation I landed my first on-air gig. Along with my three hour show I voiced and produced spots for the station. This first on air job then led me to host a top 40 station in afternoon drive, as well as a political talk show with their AM sister station. I love my career in radio and I couldnt have done it with out IMS!!

I was able to attend Illinois Media School at night while working a full time job which was a big plus for me. I had great instructors that were in the business, so the information they were giving us was relevant to what I wanted to do. The class sizes were small enough where you could form a relationship with the instructors which helped me a lot.The projects we were working on also taught us how to do things but they were also fun. We went to Wrigley Field while the Cubs were in the Playoffs and shot some video of fan reaction and got to interview a couple of fans. We also went to the NorthHalsted Halloween Parade and shot video of the parade and all the costumes and talked with some of the people in the parade. They also helped me find a job in a industry I was interested in. They set up an interview for me and the rest is history. I am still working there now and I am about to celebrate my 2 year anniversary at the company.I would recommend Illinois Media School to anyone that is looking to do something new with their career and is looking to expand their knowledge in the field of media.

No more MGIB left for me, but I think Voc Rehab is just what I need to get back into the workforce. No more going to Electrician Apprentice training for me! I really like IMS curriculum as a trade school and I want to double major. Im so excited just gotta tie up some loose ends before I relocate. Chicago campus is my destination as it has been close to home and evaded me since 2010. Better late than never! Thanks IMS!!!

Illinois Media School has a good concept but in my opinion, lack the direction & focus for students. I wholeheartedly agree with you get out of it what you put into it. I graduated in 2018 and it has changed my life, but my issues with Illinois Media School first came with repetitive learning. Because of the tiny class sizes, we would eventually join 2 other classes that started before and after us. We learned the same thing at least 3 different times because we had to catch everyone else up so that we could all move forward in the same lesson. Also this school could take into consideration on what classes you force people to take, I was strictly there for radio. But I spent weeks on creating a music video and other videography jobs that I felt was completely irrelevant to me. Perhaps it could be presented as an elective. But instead of learning videography that time could have been spent on voice training, a more in depth lesson on Adobe Audition, actually learning a board, learning some of the professional lingo in the industry, etc. One of the things I was excited about was that I didnt have to take those pesky GE classes that you have to take at a traditional college or university. But in reality this school isnt any different because a lot of us were still forced to take classes we did not want to take. Thanks for reading have a great day =)
