The British school is private and, therefore, expensive. However, they never ask for donations and, when you add up the extras at private schools that claim they are cheaper, British is very competitive and often less money. As for academics and culture, its the best. I have been a member for three years and interviewed at all the main private schools in Chicago (except Lab). The warmth of the teachers, the nurturing environment and the caring way in which they teach the kids is unbelievable. The kids Want to come and get sad if school is closed! The teaching staff is just terrific in every way. And the curriculum is outstanding, sometimes overwhelming. This school is worth every penny!

My son goes to this school and his very mad that one of his best friends phones got searched without his permission he had told his teacher multiple times to deal with the problem but his teacher will never do anything about. This has changed my view on the school completely it has went from a 5 star rating for me to a 1 star. Also my son had to text me at school because his friend who was trying to stand up for his friend got yelled at by the principle however when he tried to say the truth the principle just started to yell at the kid even more when the kid was just trying to have a nice and calm conversation with him.

Both of my children attend this school and I could not be happier. The academic standards and expectations are high but the environment is warm and supportive. All of the teachers my children have had have been excellent and engaged. The school culture is open, inclusive and diverse. We look forward to the years ahead.

We have been at this school since its founding and could not be happier. Our son has had excellent and caring teachers and has thrived under their guidance. Every year they truly get to know him as an individual and push him to meet high academic standards. They consistently differentiate learning in the classroom and challenge students with the rigorous curriculum but still find lots of ways to make learning fun and exciting. There is a ton of creativity in their approach and a very strong visual and performing art element in the curriculum which is important to us. The IPC curriculum is also a huge plus and it truly imparts a global perspective to the students. I can’t say enough good things about the school and its wonderful parent community.

I have two children who attend British - south loop. They have both been there since its inception, three years ago. I could not be happier with the staff, education, and diversity of the school. Both of my children are in elementary school. The quality of education they receive is unparalleled to any of the other schools that I’ve seen. I cannot say more about how much I love the school from a parent perspective as well as how much my two children love to go to school every day!

Both my kids (Y2 and Nursery) are with the school and we couldnt be happier. The student body is very diverse at BISC, where kids get to meet people with different culture backgrounds, speak different languages and still learn to share common values and be good friends. The school encourages and facilitates a very close parent and teacher community. We know many other parents and family well, this makes us feel we are a part of a big family and always are backed by other members of the family. The teachers we met so far are all very professional and were able to know our kids well within a short period of time, therefore were able to challenge them in the right direction. My kids love all their teachers.Academically, we agree with a lot of the teaching philosophies BISC emphasizes. We love it that our kids get exposures in an array of subjects early on. We especially like the art and music programs here, where teachers encourage expression and passion instead of simply teaching facts, theory and techniques. Different kids are challenged differently in class, kids are motivated to do better than before not just others, we believe such attitude is very important for our kids to lead happy and productive lives in the future. With all the above said, we hope the school can improve and thrive, and so do our kids.

My son also goes to this school and I echo the complaints about searches of phones and other on-line accounts. It is intrusive and the leadership should put a stop to it immediately. My son was called into the office of one of the head teachers and asked to view his Google accounts. My son complied but felt under duress. He was instructed to change his rating of the school on Google (now 5 stars) and take down other posts on his Instagram account. I was never looped in or notified of this until raised to me by my son. Ive heard of several other instances of such intrusion into personal accounts of students without advising parents first. These are personal accounts with 3rd parties. The school has no standing. This activity seems to center around one teacher in particular. Im inquiring further and will adjust my rating if warranted.

I do think that the teaching quality is good but the teachers do tend to try and force their political views on the students which I believe is very wrong as the students should be able to come up with their own ideas as far a the political system.
