Amazing school for enterprising, creative students. Our child graduated from Waldorf High School. Her instructors were college level. Her ACT score was high 20s and she was accepted into a top university. Highly recommended.

Could not imagine finding a better school or a better environment to foster curiosity and a true love of learning than the Chicago Waldorf School. The teachers are exceptional educators. They combine a thoughtful, caring approach with intelligence. By understanding each students strengths and weaknesses, CWS teachers employ the right kind of challenges to create a well-balanced, incredibly capable, happy person.

We have been at the Chicago Waldorf School for 10 years, since our first child was in a parent-child class and we could not be happier with the care and education our children receive along with the sense of community we have found. Many people are afraid to look into the school further when they see the tuition but we have always been able to stretch that little bit more than we thought we could while being very grateful at how the school administration has worked with us. I could not rate this school more highly. Our children are developing into true scholars based on their love of learning.

Its a pretty great school and Ive enjoyed my time at this school but there are some things that parents who are going to send there kids to this school might want to know. The big one is that some of the kids dont take vaccines because there parents dont believe in them which is a little crazy.

2 kids go/went here. Love the fact that they are working to educate in a way that isnt teaching to a test but instead raising an PERSON that understands their place in the world and function within it.

As a parent who has been involved with this amazing school for 11 years, its hard to imagine my children going to school anywhere else. The play-based early childhood program allows children to be children: they develop strong social skills in a nurturing environment with plenty of movement and outside time. The schools no media policy for young children, though it initially felt like a hardship, turned out to be a boon for our family. Our kids understand how to entertain themselves and spend more time creating or reading, by themselves and with other kids. The grade school has been equally satisfying in every area that I value—social, academic, and artistic. The educational approach that Waldorf embraces really does teach to the whole child. I heard a news story last year celebrating the efficacy of having students jump rope before working on math problems. Waldorf has been using movement as a teaching tool for decades. Taking a tour of the school is really the best way to get a sense of their approach. You actually get to walk through the classrooms and see the teachers in action. The teaching staff is incredibly talented, dedicated and hard-working; I can say the same for the administrative staff. Sometimes Im hard pressed to decide who is getting more out of this school, my children or myself. The community of parents and families has been generous and supportive throughout our time here. Both of our kids (now in 6th and 9th grades) are thriving at the Waldorf school. A friend of mine came to 3:00 pickup time one afternoon, when all of the students were spilling out of the building, and his jaw dropped as he said, Wow. Ive never seen a more ALIVE bunch of kids in my life. If thats the impression that the students give after a full day of school, theres something wonderful going on in those classrooms.
