I got a masters degree in social work in 2008. Now I need assistance from the school to get my license in the state of Washington, but they will not help me. This horrible degree is useless without a license. Don’t go to school at UIC for your MSW. You will regret it. I do.

I am learning a ton from dedicated, hard-working, talented professors and classmates. Great value. Top 10% of MSW programs nationwide. I have no idea what all the complaints are about in other posts.

I have an MSW and graduated JACSW with my BSW. One of the best programs I have ever been involved with. Great diversity of students and staff. Didn’t realize until many programs later that the diversity of staff and students would have been one of the best parts of my education. Many opportunities provided especially because of the attachment to world-renowned University of Illinois at Chicago. I’m not into leftists staging as progressives but diversity will weed that out. You can’t say that about other schools and programs.

I graduated with my MSW in 2016. Overall, I felt it was a decent program. The classes for concentrations (children/family, school, community, mental health) were superior to the general core classes. I had professors that were working in their communities and were able to translate their practices into classroom work.My main issues were with the internship program and the core classes. As someone that has been involved in the social services field for a long time, I did not find my 1st internship all that helpful. I had to complete 450 hours of free labor for basic internship to help me understand the social work field. My second internship was more helpful. But be advised in my experience the field placement office for internships is not all that helpful.The core classes were painfully simple. If anyone took an Anthropology 101 during undergrad, thats basically what two of those classes are.Final point. I do believe, I benefited from this program. But JACSW can definitely stand to improve.

I graduated in May of 2017 with my MSW from the Jane Addams College of Social Work. The program, much like most things in life, is what you make of it. For those who are determined to learn, there is a wealth of knowledge waiting for you. For those who are determined to cut corners, there is definitely an opportunity to earn the C necessary to receive a diploma.Every institution has areas for improvement, JACSW included. Taking everything into account, JACSW met my expectations. In my experience, the college is receptive to issues raised by students and actively works to improve the program content and structure. I would recommend the MSW program.

Having read this womans article titled We should stop putting women in jail. For anything. I can only express total disgust. This woman is a sexist man-hating monster. A horrid human being.She does net believe in equal rights, she wants special rights. She is scum of the worst sort.

Far be it from me to question someone who poses alternatives to prison for women, despite the assertion that women are different and dont deserve the same methods of punishment..However, I hope that others dont fall victim to the inane ramblings of Patricia Obrien. Ive been considered a feminist, and (in the opinion of many - which I share) she has gone far beyond equality.

This school has some serious issues. I am a lifelong liberal, but the dishonorable actions of the faculty of this school make me wonder. If you want your daughter to believe in equality, and treat both women and men as human beings, I would avoid this school. Its not fair to women if their killer serves their time in a cozy, minimum security bungalow, even if their killer was another woman. That is not womens rights. Beyond this, the school is a rabid indoctrination in radical thinking, has no intellectual diversity, and will not allow the students to think for themselves.

I just graduated from here with my MSW and even had Patricia OBrien as a professor. She is absolutely a feminist, but is certainly not man hating. It seems as if most people complaining in this review section have left their comments without actually reading the article that Professor OBrien wrote. I had amazing professors at JACSW and was continually inspired by them, my classmates, and everyone else I met through JACSW either as a guest speaker or field instructor. If youre considering this school, please search beyond the Google reviews. It is rated in the Top 50 MSW programs by multiple sites. These reviews have been taken over by conservative, whiny, man-babies who think theyre oppressed because a woman has dared to conduct research and write about it in an article that Im sure most of them didnt even bother to read.
