Transferring to Jane Addams was an excellent choice. They were recommended to me by a teacher from my elementary school. Jane Addams helps you finish all your work on time because they help you focus and learn more about the topics presented in class. The staff at Jane Addams has encouraged me to think more critical about my future. This school will prepare you for your future. I can say I appreciate all the help and lectures I have gotten from my teachers, the staff and even my trips to the dean’s office. The advice from all the staff members at Jane Addams has helped to prepare me for the future.

My friend told me about Jane Addams and it’s the perfect school for me. Jane Addams has taught me many things. It has taught me how to be responsible with my work and how to be respectful with everyone. It has also taught me how to be more self-sufficient. What I like about Jane Addams is how they do their best to help us. The staff members want the students to finish school and do more in life. I can say that Jane Addams has taught me good things that I will be taking with throughout my life.

I love Jane Addams because of the environment and energy of everyone. At first I was nervous and thought I wouldn’t like it but the way we learn and the way everything is done is better. I connect with my teachers; everyone is so friendly and understanding and even the principal is very cool. While attending Jane Addams my favorite class has been Algebra & Geometry 3 with Mr. Avila. Mr. Avila doesn’t let anyone give up. Overall I believe Jane Addams is a great school and my family should’ve chosen this school for me a long time ago.

I used to attend CPS but it wasn’t working out for me so my mom transfer me to Jane Addams HS. I like the school. At Jane Addams I come on time, I do all my work, respect the teachers, and have a little fun while doing it. The uniform is easy, so I have no problems with the uniform. Everybody at Jane Addams helps each other and are willing to do anything to make sure you understand what you are learning. At this school I’m way more active in my education and get my work done.

Hearing Ms. Reyes, at the main office, say I could enroll in Jane Addams changed my whole life. Before coming to Jane Addams, I dropped out at the age of 17. I later enrolled in a program called Pathways. It didn’t hold my attention because all they did was handed you books and quizzes. After passing your 10th quiz you would earn your credit. It didn’t help me learn or gain anything out of the time I spent there, so I dropped out and started working at Subway. I was working for about 6 months when I realized I needed a real education. Being at Jane Addams has made me feel comfortable and motivated to do my best and finish school. At first I was afraid to fit in because I figured everyone would make fun of me or make me feel unwanted. Jane Addams has its way of connecting with every student which makes it a comfortable environment. They believe in second chances and never giving up, which only makes the students more motivated to come to school. One of the agreements of Jane Addams is engagement and now I am engaged in pursuing my future successfully.

The best decision I made was when I left my old high school and started going to Jane Addams. I wanted a high school that I can attend and be normal. When I first started going to Jane Addams I was confused, shy, and scared all at once. I wasn’t used to this type of structured environment and strict staff. At JAHS we have to show respect, be safe, and be engaged in school work. I am now comfortable here and feel good that I’m attending a school that will help me later in life. I like that they’ve taught me to be a responsible leader. They’ve shown me the importance of putting my education first. I’m very thankful and lucky for attending Jane Addams.

I like the size and the staff and even the rules! Jane Addams makes sure every student is doing what they’re supposed to do. The rules are strict but they have a good reason behind every rule. The time I have spent here has been nice. The students and staff give off positive vibes, which is something that my old high school didn’t have. At Jane Addams nothing will be handed to you, you have to work hard. You can certainly get anything you desire, if you just work for it. This school has opened my eyes and put me on the right track. The school is showing me new things and teaching me new ways to approach things, I feel very fortunate to attend this school.

At my old high school they were rules, but no one would really pay any attention to them and you could ditch school and no one would say anything. There is no ditching at JAHS. Since Jane Addams has so many rules it keeps me on track to graduate. Jane Addams high school made me successful and taught me not to be a conformist. If I’m getting a B then I need to work harder to get a B+. It’s possible to get a better grade than usual if I work hard and give it my all, not just to do the work and to get it over with.Jane Addams high school is really discipline. Since Jane Addams is so disciplined I always try to do my best. The good part of all the rules in here is so we as students could learn to be responsible. Jane Addams high school is teaching us to be responsible so later in life in our future we think of our action before doing them.

At my old school, I was feeling stressed and the teachers weren’t much help. I tried my best but I was honestly at the point where I felt like I wanted to drop out. When my friend told me about Jane Addams, I debated on whether I should try it or not but I decided to go for it. JAHS changed everything for me. The teachers and staff are so much help. Being at Jane Addams has taught me to not give up. If you want something you are going to have to work hard to get it. One of the things I really liked about Jane Addams was the teachers and staff. Everyone is really helpful and nice.

The staff will push you until you’re on task and even after that they will keep pushing you. The staff are extremely smart, full of knowledge and wisdom. They give you the knowledge that we as students take with us to survive in the real world. At my old school I was allowed to do anything, I would ditch school and get into trouble on a daily basis. At Jane Addams these actions are not tolerated. Jane Addams never has a tolerance for misconduct.Jane Addams is strict but because they know that the real world will not baby us. At the end of the day Jane Addams is family. Jane Addams has taught me about respect and how showing it no matter the situation can get you real far in life. Jane Addams is and always will be a family to me because they helped me at a time where no one believed I am capable of anything. I have a great principal & counselor who encouraged me and keep on pushing me to reach my goals. Every staff member greeted me with open arms and gave a positive point of view of being at Jane Addams.

I was a high school dropout. I did nothing after I dropped out. I wanted to apply for a job and earn my own money. It seemed like an easy thing to do, until I realized how hard it was to get a job without a high school diploma. I tried joining the Marines, but I couldn’t do that either because they required a high school diploma. I was looking for a school that would accept dropouts and that is when I came across Jane Addams High School. The very first day I came to register at Jane Addams, I liked it. I liked the fact that it was a small, strict school. Since I started here I have been doing well. My attendance is good, my grades are great and my attitude has gotten so much better. I am thankful for Jane Addams in preparing me for the real world and pushing me to succeed, expanding my knowledge, and creating more options for me to choose from.

Jane Addams High School has made me more organized with my classes and assignments. They enhanced my vocabulary, math and reading skills. They only way your grades will actually be passing is if you show responsibility by doing your work and doing it right. Attendance is important because attendance gives participation points which goes towards your grade so you have to be there everyday to pass. JAHS is well than organized and gets students prepared and keeps us on task. Jane Addams has changed the way I view my education. I truly feel I am college ready.

Choosing Jane Addams was the best choice I have made in high school. I love being at Jane Addams. I wish I had gone a lot sooner. The staff is amazing. I never experienced a school that actually tried to help their students like Jane Addams Staff does. They want you to succeed and they make you believe you can do whatever you put your mind to. Going to JAHS helped me prove that I can do it. I would recommend Jane Addams to all of my friends who are in the same boat I was in.

At Jane Addams High School I was able to make new friends, meet amazing staff members and focus on myself more rather than other people. The first person that I met when I went to Jane Addams High School was Ms. Gonzales. If it wasn’t for her, I honestly would’ve fallen off track. Being at Jane Addams, I was able to learn more about myself and how to be independent. I’ve learned that I am very self-sufficient and can work well on my own and can get very far ahead. I’m much more successful at Jane Addams High School.

I’ve enjoyed JAHS so far due to the small student body and caring staff. It has proven to be more entertaining and tolerable than many of my previous schools, elementary through high. The small size has allowed me to move more quickly through the hallways, and it is easier to navigate. The staff has been more than willing to accommodate my needs and have been wholeheartedly understanding of what goes on in my head.

My mom decided to put me in Jane Addams since it is in the neighborhood I grew up in. When I first came in for orientation I was scared to start since it is so strict. They have all these rules I never followed before. I had to deal with coming to school every day and that was a challenge for me. Now that I go to school every day and manage working everyday as well, Jane Addams has grown on me. At Jane Addams High School it was different compared to any other school I went to. Jane Addams is a place for kids who really want to work and do something with themselves. We do real work. I am proud of the person I have become at Jane Addams; it helped me look into things with another perspective about myself and my capabilities. Jane Addams has changed my life.

Since going to Jane Addams, I have gained so much knowledge and understanding of how tough of a world we live in, how to deal with authorities and the importance of punctuality regarding everything. The disciplinary rules the staff enforces on the students has kept me on track and has motivated me. They have given me the skills to respect authority and handle a situation in a most well mannered and professional way. They have taught me how to dress properly and professionally. I appreciate how many influences JAHS has made on me. It has taught me how to stay patient, committed, and motivated toward my goals, behaviors, and ambition. Jane Addams High School may be tough on me, but they are training me for the greater future that is ahead.

I entered Jane Addams with a high head and a big heart, focusing on a new a goal: to finish high school with a positive attitude. I became that new student, not physically but more importantly mentally. My grades improved to A’s and B’s. I learned to attend school every day, and on time. The teachers at Jane Addams were very helpful and friendly too! The teachers are readily available to the students this made it easier for me to catch up with the other students in the class. This was great because I wanted to be a better student. I was able to achieve my goal because of the help I got from teachers and the school. Thank you Jane Addams for all you have done for me

Before I came to Jane Addams my life was close to nothing. Being at Jane Addams was a fast transition and overall I’m happy here. Being at Jane Addams gives not only me but kids all over Chicago a second chance and opportunity to do what our previous schools didn’t think we couldn’t do, exceed with an education. The classes are small, so whenever I need help on something all I have to do is ask. The staff are friendly, and willing to help with anything we need help with.

My time at Jane Addams was very eye opening. The staff at Jane Addams does a lot in order to help bring out the best in you. No matter what you go through in life Jane Addams staff is there for you, all you have to do is ask. Being at Jane Addams I learned the true meaning of the words “Own It”. Own it means realizing that every decision you make, is exactly that. A decision made by you and only you, not the next person. I wholeheartedly credit my success in high school to the Jane Addams staff, because unlike any other school they just would not sit by and watch me fall. No matter how many times I self-sabotaged myself, the support system there gave it their all to not allow me to do so and for that, I truly thank them.

I am so glad I came to Jane Addams. They motivate you. There are higher standards here and the teachers want you to learn more. They are also very strict. You can’t get away with bad attendance nor can you really get away with anything. They motivate you to try hard and be more responsible. They really don’t accept any excuses. This has helped me prepare for the future, both academically and professionally. I really like the staff at Jane Addams. They are all so kind, funny, and cool. I like how they motivate students to try hard, and don’t let anybody slack off. JAHS makes me feel accomplished.

I have attended 5 different high schools. There have been times when I just thought I wouldn’t make it. I didn’t know how I was going to make it out of high school until I came to Jane Addams. Jane Addams has helped me learn more than any other high school I have ever attended. I wish I would have found out about Jane Addams the moment I graduated grammar school. There are many things I like about Jane Addams, like my principal. She’s the coolest when you get on her good side. Also, I like the teachers because they actually have helped me when I needed it the most. What I like the most is that they will not let you give up. At Jane Addams, it’s like one big family.

When I moved to Chicago with my father, we thought that we had found a school that could fit my needs. It was an Urban Prep school that advertised itself as a means to show young, black men how to move through their lives successfully. To my dismay, this message was false. The school was corrupt. It was overrun with violence, theft and ignorance. I could not bare to waste my time there any longer, so I began to research other options. This eventually led to my discovery of Jane Addams.At JAHS I earned some of the best grades that I have ever received, while actually learning new and interesting things. My Jane Addams experience has shown me that there is still hope for the future. Its program has taught me life-applicable skills unlike “regular” schools that have conformed to a rigid and outdated curriculum. Through my amazing experience at James Addams, I have found that its teachers sincerely care for their students. Jane Addams teachers elaborate and take their time to explain their lessons, making sure that everyone understands. The students there, for the most part, are on task and strive to graduate. The combination of all these factors made Jane Addams the perfect learning environment for me.

As I look back on the time I have spent at Jane Addams High School, I can without a doubt say that this has been the best high school experience ever. My first day of school was awesome because everyone seemed to get along. At Jane Addams I didnt have to worry about people coming behind me and start something because everyone respects each other.I know that if I needed help on something a staff member at Jane Addams would take the time to help me out. The teachers teach really well. I understand the lessons better at Jane Addams. You may ask why I was successful at Jane Addams and not at my prior school. I would have to reply by saying everything. What do I mean about everything? The teachers take their time to explain and do not get mad when you don’t understand, the staff is so kind and helpful. Everyone respects each other and look out for each other. I want to thank the principal, Ms. Comparini for accepting and giving me the chance to graduate.

At Jane Addams high school they make you feel at home. The staff wants their students to succeed. At Jane Addams if the students dont succeed the staff feels as if they havent done their job and they work even harder with you. At Jane Addams their job doesnt end after you walk across their stage, they stay with you as life goes on because the relationship they build with their students is more than just educational, its family.

Before coming to Jane Addams I used to attend at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School and Curie Metropolitan High School. My high school journey hasn’t been easy. Jane Addams teachers taught us in different ways so that we would be able to understand. I owe it to the teachers and staff members who have helped me out and guided me through. My success wouldn’t have been the same if I didn’t have teachers that cared. What I liked about Jane Addams is that the teachers and staff members understand that we all have lives outside of school; the school works with you so that you can graduate and succeed no matter what other demands you have to face.

Jane Addams is a great school. Teachers are really nice and professional. My daughter enjoys coming to school and her attitude has changed since she has attended the school. I used to struggle to get her to go to school, but since she attended Jane Addams she willingly goes to school.

Jane Addams has helped me gain ambition to go to college and strive for my goals. I appreciate the vision and mission statement they have at this school. I like to read it as a reminder of how Jane Addams has helped me. This school has had a huge impact on my life, and I will never forget it.

The first high school I attended was Kelly High School. I lost motivation quickly and decided to search for another school. I found out about Jane Addams High School and it has been a great experience. The school is a perfect fit for me. The students at Jane Addams are all taught and practice self-control, which makes me feel much more comfortable. Jane Addams knows exactly what they are doing, they make sure to keep their students learning and growing. There is not a lot of drama either. I feel like I belong at Jane Addams. Not only do they teach you, they inspire you, they remind you about how important it is to be prepared for the real world. The JAHS teachers aren’t just ordinary teachers.

This is a great school. My daughter is always motivated to come to school. I love the communication between the teachers and staff. I always know whats going on and I appreciate that. I recommend this school 100%

I needed to leave CPS because I felt they didn’t know how to teach. I wasn’t learning anything. They didn’t give me the attention I needed. At JAHS they give me everything I need. I’ve been here for 3 school years and I have no complaints about this school. I am very glad I made the change. I love everything about it. There isn’t a thing I hate about this school. My teachers pay attention to me as a student. This is an amazing high school. Jane Addams staff are the greatest. It’s a small school, friendly staff and students.

I cant say enough about the school, they know my son and know that I appreciate communication. They make me aware of everything thats going on with my son and I appreciate that. The staff is very nice people and easy to talk to.

One thing I really like about Jane Addams is that you do not run into problems or see fights. At JAHS, I feel safe and I have realized how important that feeling is. Jane Addams is like a home away from home. Coming to Jane Addams has changed me in a lot of ways. I now show up to school on time and my attendance has improved dramatically. I owe part of my success story to Ms. Hernandez for not giving up on me and reminding me of what is important. If it weren’t for her, I would not be here today.

I’ve had the experience of changing from a high school dropout to an independent student who is aware of my own actions. The mission of Jane Addams High School is to increase each student’s self sufficiency and critical thinking skills as well as to promote personal responsibility. I have attended Jane Addams for one year, and I ask myself this question: “Have I accomplished this mission?” I like Jane Addams High School because if you are slacking in school, they are sure to let you know to get on your game. In this school, I learned that I can be the victorious student that I’ve always wanted to become. At Jane Addams, I stood up to my old self and focused on earning high grades and attending school. I am no longer dissatisfied with myself. I can happily say that I did accomplish Jane Addams High Schools mission.

The past memories of my last high school that I recall are the negative ones. For instance, being late, wanting to drop out, not caring to do work, and wanting to give up on school. But at Jane Addams High School it’s different. JAHS taught me I’m a big procrastinator. At Jane Addams, I had no room for procrastination. The main reason that I like this school is because the teachers actually teach. Once I started to slack off in my classes but multiple teachers and even office staff called me out on it and got me back on track. Your only option at Jane Addams is to do your work! The school taught me how to manage my time and not procrastinate.

I have a lot of memories all throughout my years in high school, but I think my best memories are at Jane Addams High School. We have done a good amount of things at Jane Addams High School but I think what I what I will remember most from Jane Addams High School is the environment of the school. I learned so much from culture to science. There were many great obstacles that high school has put me through, but there were no obstacles like the ones Jane Addams High School. This is especially ones that helped me be more personally responsible such as being on time for school, or doing my homework and turning it in on time. If it wasnt for Jane Addams High School being so strict I would probably have been a drop out. However at Jane Addams High School all my teachers pushed me to my limits and knew that I had potential into becoming a great scholar.

Before coming to Jane Addams High School, I attended YCLA. I had a great time there. We went to games room such as sky zone and ate good food while listening to great music. But I couldnt deal with the drama. Every day it was something new. Jane Addams on the other hand is a good school. They have wonderful teachers. The students are friendly. I like the fact that they do not laugh at you when you get the answer wrong, they help you with it. Classes are hard but Im learning new things my old school never taught me. The teachers are here for you and the staff help you make the right decisions. I am proud to say that I will be a graduate of Jane Addams High School.

Transferring my daughter to this school is the best decision we could have made. You can tell the school pays attention to the students. My daughter made the Deans List this year and I am delighted.

I have been to two different high schools before I came to Jane Addams. I transferred out of my last school at the start of my junior year. When I started at Jane Addams, it was the answer to all my problems. JAHS is helping me reach my goal and starting my career. What I like most about Jane Addams High School are the students, staff, and environment. Jane Addams wasn’t like all the other schools I’ve been to. The staff treats you as if you were an adult, they don’t see their students as just children. The students at Jane Addams seem to be more mature, they already know what their plan is for the future and if they don’t, they make you get a plan!

I decided to transfer to Jane Addams after I dropped out of my old school. When I transferred to Jane Addams I immediately saw my grades improve. I got the extra help I needed with the subjects I was struggling in. The teachers work hard to inspire you. They teach us to be independent and to be responsible in all the aspects of life. The thing that I like about Jane Addams is that everyone helps each other and gets along. I also like this school because the teachers will help you with everything and at this school you never feel alone.

Like most teenagers, my time is high school wasnt always easy. I have attended four different high schools. Jane Addams is like a second chance for me. This school has showed me that everything in life does not have to be so complicated. For the most part everyone at JAHS comes to school every day with the same goal in mind. That common goal is graduation. When I walk through the halls I rarely hear students talking about things other than graduation and their senior portfolio. Jane Addams also does not tolerate a lot of nonsense.

When I first entered Jane Addams I did not like it. One of the main reasons was because I was not ready to leave behind all my friends. I began to grow with the school and the staff as months went by.I am able to be more successful at Jane Addams because I am more focused here. The teachers at Jane Addams motivate me to go to school and do my best. I have learned persistence while attending Jane Addams. What I like about Jane Addams is the way the whole school is set up. Even though the rules can be a pain sometimes it is still worth it because the structure is good. Jane Addams prepares you for the real world. I am thankful for being allowed the opportunity to be a part of the Jane Addams family.

I like how my classes at Jane Addams High School small and focused. I like the uniform and rules because I believe it keeps us safe as well as focused and out of trouble. I admire their goal for every student here. It is straightforward and simple. I think it’s a very comfortable and supportive environment. The support that is shown in this school is a large part of what I value about it, I have learned the importance of self-sufficiency and that asking for help is not necessarily a weakness. I have learned how to manage things and how to handle certain situations. I have become stronger, when it comes to certain topics. Being at Jane Addams has taught me how to be more responsible as well as prepared for certain situations. Out of all the schools I’ve been in, I have enjoyed my time at Jane Addams the most.

What I like about Jane Addams is the way that the teachers care about the students’ grades. They don’t want to see you fail. They encourage you to get your work done, to pass all of your classes, and to reach your goal: to graduate from high school. They give up their time to help if you need it: they’ll come early before school or stay late after school. Also, by the way that the staff treats you, they show that they actually care. They encourage me to do better and to reach my goals in a timely manner. I’m excited to be a graduate from Jane Addams high school.

Jane Addams is a wonderful school and great opportunity for my student to get a seconnd chance. I wish he could have started at an earlier age. I think the staff is excellent and I like the effort to keep students in school as opposed to kicking them out without giving them additional support.

Great academic establishment. My daughter loves it. I dont have to wake her up to go to school, she gets up on her own and is happy to go to school.

I think this is a very good school, they have the discipline my son needs. I like that the staff is always communicating with me. The teachers also give my son the support needs. I wish that there were more schools like JAHS, kids need this kind of support.

Being at Jane Addams opened my eyes. JAHS seems annoying at first, but it is definitely a school that will grow on you. They always provided a safe and quiet work place, so I was always able to get my work done. I am very thankful for everyone at Jane Addams, because without them I wouldnt have grown - not only as a student but as an adult. They made me a better person.

JAHS has taught me many things that I’m really grateful for. I like this school because of the uniform. Everything is neutral about it and everyone is equal. The strict, but helpful, rules truly do help students stay on task. It’s a small price to pay honestly, but I’m fine with it. Second, I like JAHS because it’s a small school. Everything is easy to access and things are neither chaotic, nor crazy like in other high schools. Lastly, I’m glad this school has given me the opportunity to have a second chance in life and to get me back on track.

I am so glad I found Jane Addams because it changed my whole life around! Jane Addams opened up many doors. I received all the help I needed from all the teachers and staff. I went from an overpopulated school three times the size of Jane Addams which is a small and stable school. Teachers actually take their time to focus on their students, and provide them with the help needed. I’m glad I decided to choose Jane Addams.

My daughter has changed since she started at JAHS, her attitude is always positive and she loves attending school. She isnt scared to be smart and she also got a job thanks to the help she received in creating her resume.

Before I came to Jane Addams High School, I went to a couple of different schools, however, I never stayed at any of them for very long. I was always cutting classes and eventually, I would just stop attending. But at Jane Addams there is no way for you to leave or cut class so I don’t have any excuses not to be in school. They showed me the importance of relying on myself and becoming independent. I learned how to be responsible and how to put myself to work. They prepared me for life after high school. Jane Addams is small and strict and they do not let students slack off.

About 6 months after dropping out I decided to go back to school. This is when I began attending Jane Addams High School. Jane Addams is very different from my first high school, Plainfield Central. The campus is a lot smaller and its way more structured. Ive been successful since Ive been at Jane Addams because it is much more structured and we have to follow the rules strictly. The staff has more time to pay attention to the individual student needs. While being at Jane Addams I learned that I perform better in a well structured environment compared to a non-structured environment. The good thing about Jane Addams is that they don’t look at you differently because of your life choices.

I am so grateful to JAHS, my daughter is focused on what she wants to do and JAHS has helped her to get there. The teachers are focused on what their job is which is teaching the students and helping them out individually. The support staff is also so awesome and welcoming all of the time.

I feel since I have gone to Jane Addams I am less grumpy and overall happy. I feel as if I was connected better with my teachers at JAHS than at my other school. Jane Addams is a very loving school and they welcomed me with open arms.

To meSince Ive been at Jane Addams I have learned responsibility. Responsibility at Jane Addams plays a big part in being successful. I appreciate Jane Addams because this school takes you from your old ways and guides you to a new path for a fresh start. The staff is always there to help when you have a problem, whether with school, work, bullying, or at home. Jane Addams has taught me responsibility, which is a necessary skill for life especially when trying to maintain a job. Jane Addams is not a school for “bad students” it is a school for student who had a fall and need a way to be picked up.

If I could have a do-over I would have attended Jane Addams sooner. Transferring to Jane Addams was the best choice I could have made. No one supported the idea of me coming to Jane Addams because they expected failure and thought I should just work. If it wasn’t for JAHS I would have listened to those people and would have been a high school dropout. I have been successful at Jane Addams because of how they care for their students and their commitment to helping their students succeed. The staff at Jane Addams are people, just like us, they do not think they are any better. They are humble people who want to help you.

During my time at my prior school, I had no serious motivation. In a school so big it was difficult to get one-on-one attention. A few months into my senior year, I decided school just wasn’t for me. I was a dropout for a year and half before I discovered Jane Addams High School. Jane Addams was probably the best thing I could have ever done. This school pretty much caters to my every need, and teachers do a lot to make sure I can be successful in school and in my life after I graduate. I even want to further my education. College always seemed so far out of reach, but now I can’t wait to see what college has in store for me.

I am very happy with Jane Addams. My son is doing very well. He is doing way better than what he was doing before, I have no complaints.

I love how they are on me to not give up and keep going. Jane Addams high school is like my new family. I thought at first I would be on my own but to know they care, it’s wonderful. I think the help of the teachers at Jane Addams high school helped me emotionally, and has help me to succeed in life. I learned to never give up and keep strong and stayed focused. I have a purpose and JAHS taught me to discover what I’m supposed to do.

One thing that I like about Jane Addams High School is the support system that they offer us. If you are having any trouble in any classes they will immediately send extra help in your direction. This kind of extra care is what helps students want to get their act together and succeed at this school. At JAHS I learned more than I did my last three years at my old school. This school has showed me that it’s never too late to make a change. I appreciate that Jane Addams has made me finally wake up and realize that if I actually focus and pay attention, I’ll actually learn how to do the work. I really enjoyed my time at Jane Addams. I encourage others to join this school. Everyone here is so friendly and willing to help you. That makes you want to succeed because when a lot of people believe in you, you start to believe it too.

Before I came to Jane Addams I was at Golder College Prep. I had to get out that school. At Jane Addams I have learned much more because they put your mind to work. We cant use calculators. Its either you get your stuff done on time or you stay in school until you get it together. They make sure we achieve our goal and go to the college we want to get into. Jane Addams teachers and staff take things very serious- they do not play around. If they see you are serious about succeeding in the future and want your high school diploma they will help you.

Jane Addams High School was completely better than my old high school. At Jane Addams high school they care about me working and getting good grades. At my old school they didn’t care about my grades. My siblings introduced me to Jane Addams high school. One night I received a phone call from my sister saying, “Hi fellow classmate!” At that moment I asked her “what are you talking about?” she said, “oh yea, mom signed you up at Jane Addams.” I was very upset because my mom never consulted me. The following week I started going to attend Jane Addams high school. I was nervous. I didn’t know why. I thought about dropping out or getting my GED. After the second week of school, I made my decision to continue going to school. This school has done a lot for me. I have never been able to push myself to do good in school, or even care about getting better grades. JAHS changed everything for me. Both the teachers and staff have been a great help. I can see the change in myself. I can never repay them enough for doing everything they did to help me out. Jane Addams has truly helped me to believe in myself again. I am very excited to say that I am moving on with a diploma in hand and a smart head on my shoulders. I can’t wait to start college.

The school is very productive and I have high expectations and all have been met. JAHS staff and teachers keep up the good work.

My last school was Rudy Lozano Alternative High School. I did not like the school environment. The classrooms were out of control. I realized the teachers and staff did not care about me. I heard about Jane Addams through my boyfriend and I decided to give JAHS a chance. I very much like Jane Addams High. I like the teachers and the school environment is better and more conducive to learning. Every student is here to finish high school and not play around. I like that the school is strict but enjoyable at the same time. Jane Addams was the best decision for me. I love the teachers, the classes and the students.

I’m not dumb...or lazy. I’m not clueless...but I was ignorant. I thought I knew everything, until I began my chapter at Jane Addams high school. I have to say enrolling at JAHS was one of the best decisions I’ve made by far, not only do they help me stay on track. They made me realize when I communicate with my teachers I get a lot further. Never in my life have I been able to keep a C off of my report card until I came here. I believe if it wasn’t for me coming to this school I wouldn’t be where I am at today.

Jane Addams is a really good school. I like their discipline and keeping up with atendance. I also, like that they take care of the students if theyre feeling sick; they show concern. Great school thanks.

School has a good vibe and an over good feeling just being in the school. I recommended this school to both my sisters and now they are going too. Its a really good school.

Being in Jane Addams High School is like my car finally being put into the next race, instead of going in circles. I am glad that I joined Jane Addams High School because it is a turbo boost to my educational career. The first day I entered the building, I jumped to the conclusion that this was a bad school. But I was wrong. The staff make me feel like someone is always looking out for me and will be by my side. I can tell that this school is meant to get students on their feet and hit the ground running. There are many ways to get your high school diploma, but getting one from this school just feels right. Being at Jane Addams High School has also helped me gain my self-esteem, a lot. I have to say that it is a great school to be in. It is a very structured environment. Jane Addams High School can be the start of a career and the end of ignorance in Chicago!

Before I came to Jane Addams, I felt like my life was going down the drain. I was searching other schools were and I found Jane Addams. Honestly, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I think I have been successful at Jane Addams because it is stricter than my last high school. There are fewer distractions here than at my last public high school. They also pushed me to my limits and I exceed them. I really wished I knew about Jane Addams sooner.

I had a friend who went to Jane Addams and she told me it was a good school. I decided to give Jane Addams a try and I’m so glad I did. All of the staff members in Jane Addams help push you with everything. I know that in life you’re not going to always have people to push you, but while you can get that push it’s good to take advantage of it. One of the biggest things I’ve learned from Jane Addams is never give up and always try your best. When you try your best you will achieve a good outcome overall.I liked everything about Jane Addams. Jane Addams felt more like a family than school. Examples are Mrs. McDonald and Ms. Joshi because they are always there to help you. I feel like I have a bond with them because they will help you with tough decisions not only with school but with other things and they would always give you their best opinions.

The whole staff of JAHS has a good vibe. The teachers are really good at explaining what the assignments are all about. Everything is straightforward and organized. I think this is what helped my success.

Jane Addams has been a great school for my kids. It is the right school and at the right time and based on my experience with other schools, Jane Addams seems to be the school where they have been most successful.

Jane Addams has a pretty good staff and they keep you updated with their attendance. They help the students with school work when they are falling behind. They care about students passing their classes and give students hope and encouragement.

Jane Addams has helped me succeed in more ways than one. The students and staff here have been very kind. I am grateful to have a principal like Ms. Comparini. She is the most generous and thoughtful principal I have ever had in any school. At my old school, Ace Technical Charter High School, I was in the process of dropping out until I heard about Jane Addams. When I say this school has helped me, I truly mean it. I now realize that I would have made the biggest mistake of my life if I had dropped out of high school completely. Jane Addams has motivated me to attend school regularly, stay focused on my studies, and set goals that I can someday fulfill. This school is all about preparing students for the real world. I have spent many mornings thinking I did not want to attend school, but Jane Addams has shown me that attending school will be beneficial to me in life. I have created many relationships with the teachers and staff. Teachers such as Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Avila, and Ms. Stuebner. I am also close with Mrs. Gonzalez.

I was out of school for 2 years. I wasn’t in school, I didn’t work, and I felt like I wasn’t accomplishing anything. My mom was tired of watching me feel helpless, so she gave me the choice of either going back to school or getting out her house. She told me JAHS would be a good school for me. The next day I went to sign up and got accepted right away. I have mostly been successful at Jane Addams because of the amazing teachers. Jane Addams is the place to be when you feel like you’re not good enough, because the marvelous staff looks after your future and cares about you. Also, I love how JAHS feels like a home where everyone gets along with each other. If you’re stuck on something, there’s always going to be someone to help you.

JAHS is a great school, I have had all 3 of my kids come to this school. I highly recommend JAHS to all of the parents. The staff is always in contact with me in regards to attendance and grades.

Thanks to Ms. Joshi & Mr. Avila and their math classes I’ve gotten better at my math skills. Now that I am attending Jane Addams I have faith that I will succeed this year, because this school is stricter with their rules and push each one of us to keep working towards our success and our future. What I like about Jane Addams is that succeeding is an easy task to do. Just arrive to school on time with the proper uniform and achieve good grades in all classes. The strictness of punctuality and responsibility that they have at Jane Addams has had me on top of everything and on point. Punctuality at this school has taught me to be on time to school, has had me turn in my assignments on time. What I like about Jane Addams is that it has helped me succeed in many ways. It has helped me remain on task unlike other schools. I will gladly return and show them how much I have succeeded because of the staff, the teachers, and most importantly Ms. Comparini.

From my freshman year to my junior in CPS I really never participated in school events or clubs or anything. Most of the time I wouldn’t even attend to school. Now at Jane Addams I feel more complete. I am now more committed. Jane Addams has kept me more on track than Clemente. At Jane Addams they have me on track. They care about me and my well-being. At Jane Addams, I can get done what I couldn’t at Clemente. My overall experience with Jane Addams has been pleasant. They have good discipline and have rules that you can apply to your everyday life. JAHS taught me that if I want to be successful then you have to take everything seriously. At JAHS, I learned that if I set a goal for myself and study hard, that I can actually reach it!

Junior year was very hard at CPS. I tried to stay on track as much as possible. I was getting into fights, it just wasn’t working out. Then I transferred to Jane Addams and my whole life changed. It was like God sent help for me. They have helped me get on track, this school is awesome. I like that they are very organized and well put together. Also I like that the staff is very helpful. They care for students no matter if they are new or old and I love that. My favorite teacher is Ms. McDonald, I love her class, she’s straight forward and doesn’t sugarcoat anything, that’s why I love her. The coolest class I have is Mr. Bounds’ class, he teaches critical thinking. Before I came to Jane Addams I felt like a failure, but since I’ve been there I feel like a winner. Something I learned about myself is if I work hard at something, I will succeed. Jane Addams has made a big contribution to my entire life. Ms. Comparini pushes us to the max and I adore her for that. She’s the principal that everyone needs at every school. Without her this wouldn’t be possible. One big lesson they have taught me is to believe in myself.

I ended up in Jane Addams High School because I had a lot of bad influences and I didn’t take school seriously. What made me successful at JAHS is that the teachers don’t give up on me and they keep pushing me to do better. JAHS also made me rethink my values, morals, expectations, who I am, what I want in life, and gave me awareness of this world.

Life at Jane Addams has been great. When I got to Jane Addams I struggled with a lot of stuff. They helped me with everything and I really thank them for what the school staff did for me. Ms. Comparini is kind of like a mom figure who cares about you but don’t take no nonsense from you either. The school staff was there when I needed help the most, and supported me when family didn’t. The office staff like Ms. Suggs, Ms. Hernandez, Mr Richardson and Ms. Becker were all glad to see me finish and take the path I want to take. It made me smile because I know they are willing to help me no matter what. I really want to thank all the staff for what they did and have done for me because I do not know what I would do without their help.

Jane addams has helped my daughter stay out of trouble. i like the fact that the discipline is strict and helps keep my daughter in line. i love this school

At Jane Addams I feel I can focus more because there is not as much stuff going on to distract me, the environment is more sensitive to the moods of all students, everybody understands what it feels like to struggle, and the teachers are really helpful. I have learned so much since I arrived here. I have learned different test strategies in reading and math to help me understand the material better. I have also learned new words from the vocabulary tests and I have developed stronger social skills than I could have ever imagined. The best part about JAHS is the teachers. The teachers work hard with you to get you where you need to be. This school has fundamentally been beneficial to my mental and physical health, for that I am very grateful.

I am happier at JAHS. I feel like the teachers teach me more things that I’ll need in the future. I feel more comfortable learning and engaging here. I am able to express myself in positive ways, because I do have more fun here when learning than in did at my previous high school. The lessons at JAHS seem more relevant to what they want you to learn. I have learned that I want more for my future after attending JAHS. Jane Addams staff and teachers push me to become the best version of myself. I like how the staff and teachers are very caring for all of the students. I am glad I came here.

High school hasn’t been the best for me. The problem was that Dunbar is a terrible school. The students there are very violent and out of control. My life at Dunbar was like a very difficult obstacle course. It was kind of like the ones you see on that TV show American Ninja Warrior. You can say I found myself at Jane Addams High School. I wish I could have come to this school sooner. My life would probably be dramatically different. Im happy I came to Jane Addams to get my diploma. I like the teachers at JAHS. They all are amazing and very helpful and supportive. I really like Mrs. T (Comparini), and Mrs. McDonald: they are my favorites. These two individuals are something special. I wish the best for them and will stay in contact with them. I also like how the school is set up. It’s really set to help students be successful. I would definitely recommend students to come here.

I left my last school because I lost my motivation towards myself and school. I just felt like school wasn’t for me. I was able to become successful at JAHS because the teachers and staff taught me how to work hard and not give up on myself and my dreams. I learned how to be myself and push myself harder in my work and studies, and, to have my grades up as well. At JAHS I have been learning how to write better essays and how to correct myself. The teachers are showing me how to manage a business so whenever you want to have a business you know a little about everything. JAHS showed me how to be a better student and also how to be a better man. Everything they taught me I know I could use in the real world because I want to have a restaurant of my own one day. The teachers have taught me how to understand how everything works in the restaurant business. The staff are really cool. Everything is well balanced and works perfectly together. Jane Addams is what a school should look like with everyone organized. Jane Addams is the best high school I ever been

When I first went to Jane Addams, I was a slacker and my work ethic was terrible. I never thought about how this would affect my future until one day I vowed that I wasn’t going to end up like most of my family members, working a minimum wage job and living paycheck to paycheck for the rest of my life.Before I went to Jane Addams I went to another school called Ace Tech, while I was there I was constantly failing all my classes, my grades were absolutely terrible. While going to Jane Addams I learned that I am smarter than I give myself credit for, also that by doing the things that I’m required to and getting them done feels like a great accomplishment, which is usually a vague term when it comes to me. I am going off to the army, and hopefully I can apply the things learned at this school like habits of mind so I can be successful while serving my country and later in college.

In my life, I have attended four different high schools. The first high school I attended was Noble Academy. The disorder and chaos at that school did not really work for me, so I transferred to Crane. Crane was closer to what I had expected a school should be, unfortunately, a number of people close to me died and I lost motivation. We moved to Yorkville and I felt like an outsider at Yorkville High. So we moved back to Chicago. My friend told me about Jane Addams High School (JAHS). The school sounded small and like a place that I may do better at so I gave it a try. I immediately was doing well, and I started to genuinely like school. I started coming to school every day on time and I did all of my work. I saw my grades improve. I also noticed that I wasn’t complaining in the morning and making big fusses about school anymore. This is mostly due to the fact that the teachers are very funny and they take the time to relate to their students. This felt to me that school was more of a home. The other schools that I went to did not feel that way. At JAHS the staff and teachers understand us and put a great deal of energy into us. The classes are not big, which means the teachers have a chance to sit one on one with kids and actually help. The kids are also funny, no one is left out, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. The work feels possible because of the support system; but its up to you to do it. The staff here will help as much as possible, I never felt alone. Jane Addams is the place for me. I really wish I could have started here in my freshmen year. I’ve had a rough journey during my high school years, but I never gave up and thankfully I found Jane Addams as a place that never gave up on me.

The expectation at JAHS is to succeed and thats it! Jane Addams has given my child everything that I expected from a high school education. UIC College Prep is not all that its cracked up to be, hands down JAHS is the BEST!!

Jane Addams forced me to be more responsible for myself. The school prepares you for the real world. Jane Addams taught me how to be on my “p’s and q’s” at all times and that time waits on no one-- and we all know that time is money. Appropriate communication is taught at this school; you can’t talk to the deans or other authority figure how you would like. Being on task and staying positive goes hand and hand with the rules and standards. What I like most about Jane Addams High School is that they are real with anybody who comes through the door; they do not let anything slide for anyone. JAHS reminds me that every action and decision comes with a consequence or lesson. They prepare us, I’m grateful and mostly thankful I attended JAHS. I can actually feel the growth and success within!

I like this school. My daughter attends here and the experience has been good so far.

I am getting high grades at JAHS because I don’t feel like I’m forced to do anything at JAHS. I feel like my future is in my hands. It’s either I do what I must do or I fall behind. JAHS has changed my perspective on life. It has made me push myself harder than I ever have pushed myself before. Ms. McDonald is my number one supporter. She makes sure I have what I need and more. I love her dearly for believing in me as much as she does. At JAHS you aren’t constantly getting nagged by teachers to do this or that. If it must be done, you must do it. I’ve learned how to be more independent at JAHS. I’ve learned to do the right things for the right reasons. I love that at JAHS, you’re independent. You aren’t held on a leash and told which direction to go. You get to choose that path you want. This gives me the confidence to continue to be successful and push myself to never give up. JAHS has given me that chance to prove to the world that I am able to do any and everything that I put my mind to.

Before I came to Jane Addams High School I was a troubled student. I was always getting in trouble. I very felt welcomed at my other school. I felt the need to leave that school simply because it wasn’t the right fit for me. I wasn’t learning. Then I found Jane Addams High. Jane Addams teachers and staff have taught me that I can be successful and that I can achieve my goals in life. While at JAHS I have learned that I love history. I will be able to apply my new responsible mindset to the work place, and my future schooling for mechanical engineering. I liked so many things about Jane Addams High School. Thanks to all the JAHS teachers and staff, I am now responsible, respectful, and set to be successful in life.

When I started at Jane Addams I had heard that they were strict but I thought I could play the staff like I did at my old school. I was so wrong. I began to dislike the staff for not letting me do what I pleased. I wouldn’t tolerate people telling me what to do or how to act. I didn’t like the rules that they took so seriously. So I left. I left Jane Addams to attend a joke of a school, Latino Youth. Being at Latino Youth I realized that’s what nightmares are made of. I soon began to see the error of my ways when I noticed the difference in the academic system between JAHS and Latino Youth. Latino Youth teachers didn’t value being teachers and actually teaching us. It took me 6 months at Latino Youth to lose my drive to go to school. In my heart I knew I could only accomplish my graduation dream at Jane Addams. But I was petrified to go back. I had let my ignorance and defiance get the best of me when I was last there. I was sure that if I went back to JAHS they would laugh in my face and tell me to go home. I was surprised when I walked through the door and was welcomed back with open arms. A few unfunny jokes, and a harsh “I told you so”, but nonetheless, a warm embrace and I was back at Jane Addams! Although sometimes my attitude can make people think otherwise, I genuinely love my Jane Addams High School. What makes JAHS special to me is that the teachers and staff are here for you more than their job requires of them. They do their best to guide you through not only your academics but also what school can’t teach you: life and its lessons. You’re never alone while you’re there and that is something that is absolutely priceless.

The staff at Jane Addams are very helpful with whatever you need. The staff is devoted to making students successful; they show you that you can do great things in life if you really put the work and effort in. I’ve learned many things while at Jane Addams. One thing I learned is personal responsibility and how important that is. I learned to be responsible for the work that I have to do in school. Critical thinking is another trait I’ve acquired at Jane Addams; the rigorous courses at Jane Addams made me think about my thinking process and how I can solve difficult problems. I don’t just like the staff at Jane Addams; I love the staff at Jane Addams. They are all very helpful and go out of their way to help you achieve your goals, you just have to give it your all.

Being at JAHS I have learned so much about myself. I feel comfortable enough to ask the teachers to help me get back on track with the rest of the class. For example I was never very good at math. I hated math until I came to JAHS and Mr. Avila made me start loving it! He gave me a positive attitude towards learning difficult concepts. What I really enjoy about Jane Addams High School is how the staff and teachers encourage us to be responsible because no one else will “cover” for us. The students are taught to problem-solve using our critical thinking skills. This means when we are given a problem, we think it through critically and in depth. We analyze it objectively before acting on it and deciding which approach would be best. The teachers and staff always keep us on task in class. This helped me a lot because I am a very easily distracted.
