My boys absolutely love the program and their professor at RGC. We were driving to the South Side for years due to the lack of kid friendly schools in the city but were so excited when they opened this location on the North Side near our home! The instructors (professors) are extremely knowledgeable and keep an open and fun learning environment. They even keep the gym and locker rooms spotless (even for me as a neat freak) and have showers which help when we are in a rush (pre-pandemic). Post Pandemic they have been so amazing at keeping an open communication on policies and sharing how they are keeping the boys safe. This has been a mental and physical lifesaver for the boys! Visited Chicago this past weekend from Louisiana. Dropped in for a class and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Amazing mat space. Clean locker room/bathroom. Frank was a great instructor. Got some good technical training in before a few sparring rounds. Highly recommend this place if you live in the Lakeview area.

My 11 year old loves going to the Renzo Gracie Academy. The academy is great in teaching my son the skills and giving him the confidence. The professors are very compassionate and kind. The academy is very clean and professional. My son looks forward to spending his Saturdays at the academy.

The facility is immaculate. I had the privilege of training with Coach Frank while I was there, He was knowledgeable, and a very attentive instructor. Both the training area and the locker rooms were kept extremely clean, And, there was PARKING, which is super hard to come by at a North side gym. I had an awesome experience during my visit to Renzo Gracie Chicago, and I will return!

Was a little hesitant walking in, but I came in opening night and signed up that night for a month and haven’t missed a night yet.Insanely welcoming staff. Crazy clean, i mean crazy hygiene in here. I grew up wrestling and these guys truly take care of the mats and are health conscientious. Definitely feel like ALREADY i have a new family here.

Ive been attending the academy since theyve opened the doors. Training at various academies throughout the years I have found that the professionalism demonstrated by Professor Christian and Coach Frank is unparalleled. I have yet to see instructors that are as committed to enhancing the knowledge of their students!

Wow, this is the cleanest, nicest bjj gym i have been to. The instructors are excellent. My whole family trains here and i can see the changes in my kids. I use to take the kids to karate but that was a complete waste of time compared to bjj. Best in Chicago!

I have been training BJJ for over five years.RGC is a great place to learn the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Christian is an experienced and devoted instructor who started doing BJJ at the age of seven. He and his coaches have created a fun and safe environment to learn the gentle art right in the heart of Lincoln Park.Some of the things I love about this academy:The facility is brand new (mats, showers, etc.)The instructors are actively watching the students during training sessions (creates a safe environment)Mats get wiped down with disinfectant after each classNo outside shoes allowed inside the academyFREE PARKINGThere are many more benefits to this academy that I have not found training at other schools in the area. This place is great! Extremely well prepared Professors and coaches. During class they are constantly walking around to make sure techniques are being done properly and everyone is have fun while being safe.The facility is extremely clean, great locker rooms, showers and a parking lot. Three members of my household attend this school and would not consider going to another. This place is very family oriented with several classes for kids and adults.This would be a great choice for anyone in the Chicago area!

Renzo Gracie Chicago is a fantastic Academy, if you have the chance to stop in you have to go. I am new to BJJ (5 Months) and train at Renzo Gracie New Hampshire regularly but was in Chicago for business and dropped into Renzo Gracie Chicago for an adult class on a Monday night. The facility was great, very clean, awesome mats, great locker room and perfect lighting. From the moment I called and when I arrived, the people running Renzo Gracie Chicago were very welcoming and made a visitor from out of town feel like family. The class itself was great, Professor Uflacker was terrific, immediately made everyone feel welcome, had detailed instruction and managed the time spent training masterfully. Lastly, the people training that night were also all very welcoming and fantastic to meet and train with. I feel very fortunate to have been able to drop in to Renzo Gracie Chicago and if you are in town, come check this place out. If you are lucky enough to live close take a class and meet some great people. Thank you Renzo Gracie Chicago, I appreciated the opportunity to train and hospitality.

I had been thinking of starting BJJ for a few months. I looked up lots of videos online the history of its origins and the dominance of the style in the early days of UFC by physically smaller individuals.When this place opened so close to me I knew I had to check it out. It’s very clean the instructors are very welcoming and friendly as are the staff and other students.It’s close to the brown/purple line, but if you drive there is a decent size parking lot next to the building. I’m lucky enough to live close enough to just walk.If you want to get some exercise and learn a useful skill, or just enjoy the sport of it, it is a great environment to learn.

All of the professors are extremely credentialed, and they truly treat you like family. Cleanest mats in Chicago, in a brand new facility, that has legitimate talent.

I recently signed my 5-year-old son up for Jiu-Jitsu at Renzo Gracie. I could not be happier. The class is teaching him flexibility, body awareness and control, disciple, respect, in addition to fundamental jiu-jitsu techniques in a fun learning environment. The instructors are amazing with kids. He is super excited to go to class, and is learning real skills that will not only help him protect himself in the future, but the life lessons Jiu-Jitsu teaches practitioners like mental toughness, humility, perseverance, and confidence.
