My daughter has been attending Gateway Montessori School since she was 3 and it was located on Montrose Avenue. Its now in a brand new building on Pulaski specifically built for the school and my daughter is now in 6th grade. She loves it. She feels connected to the community and safe in the environment. I love the school, the teachers and the Director who has 35+ years experience and I learn from her every day. The new space is large and bright with a lovely garden area for playing. The classroom sizes are still small with one trained teacher Guide and one assistant in each room. Classes are broken into 15months to age 3, age 3-6, and elementary age 6-12 years.Gateway is one of only two Montessori schools in Chicago that is recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). This means they follow the original teachings of Dr. Montessori and they have all the required materials. All of the classroom teachers have under graduate degrees as well as the required AMI certification program for the level they teach which requires several years additional training.I feel really fortunate to have found Gateway Montessori School.

We love this School for the international atmosphere, love and respect. this school is one of the only International certified Montessori in Chicago. Our daughter love to go to school every day, Shelly and team are tremendous teachers and give their best to kids and community.

This is a fantastic School, one of the only International certified Montessori in Chicago. Shelly has been an amazing teacher and role model for our children. The atmosphere of this school is loving and respectful to the children and we love being in a small community where there is such strong support for each child. Its truly amazing how advanced our four-year-old is in math, writing, and geography, while there is no pressure for her to do anything but learn at her own pace. Our two year old loves being in the community room and enjoys being busy, making biscuits, sewing and doing other fine motor activities. Ive learned so much from Shelly on how to parent my children better, when we go through the inevitable frustrating cycles of toddler-hood. They take children from 15 months to 12 years.
