Cancelled Culinary Program, not telling students until 2nd semester was nearly over. Staff and Faculty has the MOST poor communication I have ever experienced with a college/school. Just because of COVID, all staff was given 2-3 BUSINESS DAYS to reply (although being at home, as 80% of classes were virtual for the entire 2020-2021 school year) and even then it takes more than a week to get a response, if any, and normally it takes a second message to get anyone from any department to reply. Buyout and cancellation of the Culinary Arts Program as stated before, sending students to the most dangerous part of the city to attend.

Robert Morris University was where my older brother went to College. He finished in less than 3 years with a bachelors and tuition was pretty affordable, he also played college hockey. I chose Robert Morris for the same reasons, I had an affordable tuition, got to play hockey at a very high level, and was suppose to be done with a bachelors in less than 3 years thanks to Robert Morris Universitys Accelerated Degree Program. I was a 4.0 student and was a very hard worker on the mens D2 hockey team. The school merged with Roosevelt University in the Fall/Winter of 2020. The merger was suppose to honor Robert Morriss accelerated degree program and also honor the same tuition rate and scholarships/grants. I stayed at the school for the remainder of the year after hearing this information. Closing in on the fall 2020 semester (they lied about keeping the quarter system which was suppose to turn into 2 8-week sessions instead of the 16 week traditional semester), I was extremely frustrated my tuition went up exponentially, the accelerated degree program was canceled, and only part of my scholarships/grants were the same. I spent all of July and August calling and emailing people to not be given answers and to be brushed aside. I called at least 25 times and my Father called multiple times as well to financial aid, advising, and various other branches of the school. The few times my call was actually answered by a person, I always got the same response of sorry we dont have access to the information from Robert Morris, someone from Robert Morris will contact you. The school was putting me in a position where I felt like I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I came to find out that almost everyone I knew from Robert Morris was having this problem and a good number of people left the school. I left the school since they lied about continuing the accelerated degree program and my tuition which I signed an agreement to prior to enrolling at the school my freshman year.My advisor (Amy Elliot-Meisel) was also VERY dishonest and deceiving for trying to constantly have me sign up for classes I ALREADY HAD CREDIT FOR from College Of DuPage summer classes and credits that transferred in from High School. This greatly added to my frustrations.The ethical problem is the lying and deceiving higher education business practices going on at Roosevelt. They are taking advantage of students in this merger and it makes me sick to my stomach to say the least.The school should have:1. Not lied about this information in numerous emails, Q&A sessions, and in print-outs.2. Kept tuition the same and honored the accelerated degree program.3. At least have the decency and respect to say they were not honoring these things back in the Fall so I could have left the school then and not wasted time and money taking classes that were not going to transfer anywhere.I will tell and continue to tell any and everyone I know who thinks about attending here they need to reconsider immediately and save themselves from this ship-wreck of a school.

This school is so prestigious and its history is amazing. It holds so many talented professors and students alike. I know someone who graduated from here and he is excelling so far in his career because of this university.

Honestly, I wouldve given it a 5 if it wasnt for expenses. I attended this university because I fell in love with it. My first semester involved my general ed courses and courses that goes towards my major and Im majoring in Psychology.The environment is simply amazing. The professors are great. Of course there are going to be professors that makes you want to sleep, but thats in general with every college/universities. I never encountered rude staff members nor students. This school is literally involved with Chicago especially in a Justice way. My only problem is its so expensive. Some books are costly and to stay on campus I wouldnt dare if youre not making a lot of money. They will help you as best as they can and theyre great at that too. IF YOU ARE A CHICAGO FRESHMAN(MEANING ABOUT TO START COLLEGE) DO COMMUNITY COLLEGE FIRST THEN TRANSFER OVER TO ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY. Trust me this will save you lots of money.

Everything went smoothly for enrolling in online graduate courses. I ordered the books. At checkout the cost was $160. The actual charge to my credit card $260. Then 4 days later one professor sent an email that the books listed for the course are from an old syllabus. Told me to return old books and buy correct ones. I dropped all course, returned all books and will enroll elsewhere.

Scamming students during a pandemic. $50,000 housing WITH roommates in terrible condition. Told students that classes were still in person then moved to Zoom only after they couldn’t break their housing contract.

The college is a gem in the city! The psychology department is first rate! Schedule a tour! This college is sensitive to the needs of first generation students. The dorm views are incredible!

Statistics were always my nemesis. Materials I used elsewhere made me feel like I was reading Sanskrit. Had a friend who recommended it. I came here part-time for evening classes. Dealt with parking, fees, tuition costs out of pocket. In class I used a different approach to help myself. Recorded classes. Listened. Wrote down only what I had to. The instructor gave real examples I could relate to. Did the same in other classes. One at a time. Other instructors equally excellent. Now things made sense. Rewrote my notes. Studied at a new level. It goes back to the time you have to invest. Do what you need to do to learn. That was my way. Took hours. Well worth it. Personal accomplishment. Thats was Roosevelt gave me. A gift to myself.

If you want to have a good social life in college, and quality education, study here. Actually the education is just the same compared to other schools,

RU is what you make of it. There are some great professors and good classes. I completed my BLS and the undergraduate students were eh. I completed my MBA and those students were much more involved and quite bright. Outside of Chicago, no one really knows this university. I live and work in Manhattan and no one has ever heard of this school. However, I work for the largest consulting firm in the world and received offers from equally prestigious firms. Since this school is locally known, you will have to be outstanding to compete in a serious market - NYC, London, Paris, Singapore...If you are driven and avail yourself to the schools resources, you can succeed in a global city with a degree from RU.

Terrible school that’s unfortunately ran by administrators who are so out of touch with reality. They really expect you to put your life on hold and to become solely a student and to throw everything else away as if ones own life revolves around them. Chicago is a huge city with so many opportunities. Find another school to go to as this ones a sham.

Transferred here from Illinois state university. Staff here is so unprofessional and rude. Professors here aren’t paid enough and don’t know how to teach students which is quite sad. I had better experience over the summer at a community college for far less money.

I had a terrific experience from 2006-2010. Needs more cost-effective housing and more quality music facilities. Overall, its a great institution with dedicated professors.

The new Wabash Building has changed the skyline in a big and beautiful way. A verticle campus that is new and innovative. Even if you have no academic reason for being there, some of the best views of the city!

I love the feel for the University, I enjoy the atmosphere, the architecture outside and inside and the people are always friendly. If you want to go to a small school in the middle of the city of Chicago, this school is for you. If you love this building, you will also enjoy the latest building, the vertical building next door.

Hi my name is Sylvia De Dios and I was wondering if I got accepted to this college because i really do want to go to this school I want to study criminal justice and be able to go to law school after that. What are the requirements to go to this school. And I would like to be a Uniform Police Officer on the south side of Chicago.

Overall, I really like attending Roosevelt. I’m not saying this to just to boost their ratings but I really like it. Universities can be expensive but it’s worth it if you know what you want to do and you’re gaining a lot from it. It’s downtown Chicago. I’m a city girl, so I love it. I like the school’s diversity of people from different backgrounds and countries. The professors are nice and it’s a great place to attend graduate school. I didn’t attend the university during my undergraduate years. I am a second year grad student with a major in IMC. I’m also a Graduate Assistant. I like the program. Some of the professors may work you but I have to say that I’ve learned a lot in this program and I’m glad that I chose to attend Roosevelt.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS- PLEASE READ!I will start by saying that I am enjoying my education here, and I truly value most of the staff and the professors that Ive had so far as they have been great. That being said, my qualms are with the finaid office. If money is an object for you then keep reading. Please consider my story before you decide to attend this school.My first semester at Roosevelt I received grants, scholarships, and loans. All of these covered my tuition and provided me a refund which I used to pay rent, eat, etc. The following semester and each semester thereafter my refund was cut by over 90%. This is seriously unacceptable. The refund check that I received was a joke and the answers that Ive received from financial aid office have also been a joke.Long story short, they told me that I cant receive multiple scholarships, and grants, and thus removed them from my aid package even though I am a full time honor roll student. Its also important to note that these additional funds were promised to me before I even started school there. Yet In the middle of fall semester 2015 I watched them deduct from my grants and scholarships for 2016 because more loan money suddenly became available. I am outraged and can seem to get this issue corrected or explained to me and I feel like Im getting the short end of the stick.I spoke with some professors ( those whom I will not name in this review) and they told me that what really happened is that the school messed up everyones aid a couple semesters before and now are in a financial crisis because they dispersed too much money. The real kicker? Students are paying for their mistake by being forced to accept aid packages that barely cover tuition. This is NOT right.If you can avoid it- dont go here. The school itself is great, and theyll show you your aid package for first semester which will also look great. But once youve got a semester or two under your belt theyll go and change it so that you receive almost no refund at all. Other students I have spoken with are even saying that their tuition isnt even paid in full anymore, even though it used to be. For people who live at home with their parents maybe this is okay, but if youre like me and live on your own, work 35-40 hours a week, and take classes full time, the aid package just doesnt cut it.If someone from administration is able to reach out to me and make this right Im more than willing to edit my review, but for now I have to give it two stars. Last semester my stress levels were through the roof because of the financial aid office and my grades slipped a little bit because of it. The last thing a student should have to do is worry about how theyre going to eat tomorrow.

I am a working adult that decided to go back so it took me a longer amount of time than the norm. When I first started, you could not find a parking spot at the Schaumburg campus for evening classes and had to get there rather early. But as time went out its turned into a ghost town of a place by the time I graduated. Ive seen the highs and lows of the school and they are definitely on the farthest low I have ever seen. Competition between funding for both campuses was always going on the Chicago campus always had the upper hand even though Schaumburg was able to keep the higher enrollment. Instr. That worked at the Chicago campus would reg. talk bad about the Schaumburg campus. Which I found unprofessional of instructors to do. I use to recommend this school but since graduation, I would not recommend this school for anyone. Go to DePaul or Loyola if you’re interested in a private school. I hope this place gets organized one day. they have no identity or image of who they are or what they want to be about.

What is there to say but I absolutely loved my graduate time here? All schools should be like this :)

When I decided it was time to finish my undergrad, my mom made the suggestion that because I like to read and write and stuff I should go for an English degree. And since Roosevelt is local, maybe I could go there. She and my dad even got me the information for the two campuses (they have a commuter campus in Schaumburg where I also took classes) . Since I had no better ideas, I gave it a good, applied, and ended up getting accepted in their English program. I was impressed with the majority of the professors. Professor Buccola was probably one of my favorites. She was definitely someone who enjoyed her job, and made all her classes enjoyable (even when I complained, she argued and won her point, so I totally have a lot of respect for her). I felt the English department gave me a really well rounded program with classes like Women and Comedy (I actually met the author Laurie Notaro at a book signing who was shocked and delighted when I told her we used her book in our class). Literature of the Color Line with Larry Howe was definitely a class that made me think about the culture of race in America in a new light, and Ellens Crime in Victorian Literature got me hooked on Dickens. This is only a small portion of my classes, but they were all enjoyable and I felt my education was well earned. If youre looking for a school with top-notch professors (and dont mind paying the private school prices), then check out Roosevelt University.

10/6 The book store: The hours on Friday to pick up textbooks and other items is just nonsense. I mean what successful business is open only 5 hours on a Friday? Of course there are no hours on the weekend, the University is keeping this (book store) schedule on a traditional academic route, where other Universities are making changes to reach a wider audience of students.Although I can get emails about them pushing pens, textbooks, jerseys with the school name to cock fights and liver transplants but nothing about the hours of the store in these emails. I only see this level of distinction at academic institutions of higher learning and freakin clown shows. I am not sure if they are trying to make sure that the University is keeping that cool kid -like vibe for the students and their families from small po dunk towns from God know where, or these kids need to have enough time to get high (they smoke right outside the store! IKR?).However for the working professionals and those who are serious about an education, this is just another impediment to getting that degree and actually recommending the University to other people. The bookstore is just a reflection of the mismanagement of the institution, who should just go full party school than trying to sell that they are a serious academic institution.The bookstore is a small but great when you order online to pick up your items (textbooks) and the customer service from Machelle was fantastic. Note: I gave 4 stars to only the bookstore portion of Roosevelt University.
