Most of these reviews are about how beautiful the campus looks and nothing more. I asked for for info regarding the ABSN program. Carolina Rodriguez called me and then emailed me to send over my transcripts. I emailed her twice and never heard back from her again. I do not like schools that do that to students trying to better themselves. I will be applying to other schools and do not recommend the Nursing department.

Warning. I work for Loyola and making this review highly suspect. The university has grown in student numbers, numbers of program, student achievement and service to the city of Chicago. What makes Loyola stand out from others is the unapologetic mission of the school. We strive to become a person for others. We believe in strong academics, unwavering integrity and we believe in helping others. When students graduate from Loyola there is an expectation they will remember they are truly privileged people and that they have an obligation to find ways to assist others. Its a Jesuit university, but being Catholic is not a requirement for entrance. In fact more than half of the students attending Loyola are not Catholic. Loyola is the only college basketball team to have won a national championship and that was back in 1963. The program has been dormant for the most part since then. That is until last year when Loyola was the Cinderella team of the NCAA Tournament and the darling of international media thanks in large part to Sister Jean, the teams spiritual leader. A bona fide firecracker, Sister Jean took America, Africa and European media by storm during the tournament. The fairy tale season took the Ramblers to the Final Four where they lost to a very good Michigan team.

This review is for Loyolas admission advisor, Tyler D. It has been over ten years since I completed my BS and Tyler has been so helpful and understanding in providing the tools to figure out the steps needed for me to be able to attend Loyola and apply to its nursing program. Although I ultimately decided on a different school for nursing due to affordability, Tyler has been the only admission advisor I encountered that really made the experience personable and welcoming.

Loyola University Chicago is a world-renowned top private research university located in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The school was founded in 1870 and was originally named St. Ignatius College until 1908. So far, Loyola University in Chicago is also the largest Catholic Jesuit University in the United States, with more than 16,000 registered students (2017).

My son just finished his Freshman here and having a great experience . His advisors and most all teachers are great —compassionate & highly qualified . The wellness center and workout facilities and student center state of the art. Beautiful campus with lake views, conveniently located to Target, CVS, dozens of restaurants and even a movie theater and the trains downtown and to Evanston. Food is good-they’ve made recent positive changes like pasta bar ( make it weekly or daily not once every 2 wks) and delicious grill sandwiches . For the high tuition , the food should be top notch. The fitness and sports center are amazing ! One suggestion is they need to revamp their Interdisciplinary Honors program . My child was enrolled but dropped after 1 semester . He well qualified - his scores and GPA well above the minimum 4.0 GPA, 35 ACT. Yet the honors professors purposefully refuse to give As and seem to get satisfaction out of frustrating hard working kids . They announced in the orientation that ‘my class will be the first B you ever get.! ‘. Who does that ? Why ruin a kid’s GPA or their chances of med school in classes that won’t even count towards the major like literature or history ? They curve so deeply that it’s obvious that they’re expectations and testing are skewed. They should allow honors students to take honors classes in their major only and regular level classes in non major electives . The science teachers and psychology teachers are fantastic and my child got all As , which reflected his effort and a quality learning experience . The literature class was barely a B, even though she worked the hardest in that class . Sadly it was worth double the credit hours as the major classes so it brought the GPA down to 3.7. Why would they count for 6 credits and your major classes only 3? One more thing. Some clubs and activities like psychology club and techno music club are non existent. A few more activities and initiatives to add clubs especially for non majors in music like a music composing club or other social clubs. There are some great intramural sports and some fun activities and proximity to Chicago awesome . Free van service provided within 2 miles of campus runs late. Anyway overall the school is great. Most staff and teachers are great .

I cant overstate how amazing the University, faculty, and staff are. Regardless if you take course along the lake, downtown, at one of the other campuses, or overseas at their sister locations, there is nothing quite like the education you receive at Loyola. I am a current undergrad student at Loyola, and I only have positive things to say about it so far. I feel I am receiving an excellent and well rounded education while also keeping socially active. There is always something to do since the campus is within such a close proximity to the city. Getting downtown is easy (and free), thanks to the CTA and the intercampus shuttles. Also, the Lake Shore Campus is beautiful and has some nice views of Lake Michigan. The Water Tower campus is beautiful too, and has some new buildings that are located just a block away from Michigan Avenue. Overall, I am very happy that I chose Loyola. I feel it is preparing me for the future and allowing me to meet great people along the way. I cant wait to return in the fall!

Not a good value for the money, not a safe campus, poor student experience in dorms, false information given to entice families to sign on but once there support promised is not given, unethical handling of complaints (i,e, personal e-mails not responded to but sent around to other employees without permission). Meal plan absurdly overpriced. Campus housing absurdly overpriced. Tuition and fees absurdly overpriced. Poorly run. However, there are some dedicated professors and employees who are trying their best within a poorly run institution. Thank you to them.

Everone knows the Lakeshore campus. Buildings like Dunbach. Cudahee. Madonna Dela Estrada, the beautiful chapel. But the heart of Loyola? A Jesuit education. The Marines of Catholicism. Set a standard for excellence. Professors known internationally. Like Patrick J. Casey, who taught Irish Renaissance plays, poetry and literature. Very special man. Oh cmon. Cmon. I know somebody knows this. Brilliant. Inspired. Knew detail after detail of the Dublin of John Joyce. Yeats and Lady Gregory. Cu Chulainn. Made them so relevant, alive. Raised the bar for what it meant to be a teacher. Inspired you to research, memorize, synthesize. Thats what makes professors great. They inspire you to learn. Actively not passively. Like Thomas Kaminski, also in the dept of English. Exacting.18th century Lit. Made it relevant for that time. Critical when he saw you did not work up to your capabilities. Praised when you reached beyond. Came to the graduation of a student who everyone else initially thought would never succeed. Dr Michael Masi. Taught Chaucer like no one else. Word by word. Painful but rewarding. Even Jeffrey Harder, who could get past talking about Danny Ortega to teach film criticism well. Absolutely rich, meaningful, great education. You can skim by, get Cs, or benefit from professors who care more about teaching than their salaries. Did not just sit around & lead time-consuming discussion groups. Actually Taught. Loyola. Beautiful Lakefront campus. Great education. Go Ramblers.

Proud to be an LUC Alum. The campus, especially with the new renovations, looks great and is nestled right up against Lake Michigan. You cant argue against the beautiful views as you look out from the Information Commons or walking along the lake. LUC has a very diverse student body and it makes for an excellent education, both inside and outside of the classroom. While athletics arent the primary focus at Loyola Chicago, they still boast a solid enough D-1 program to bring excitement to the university. I was very disgusted to see antisemitic messaging at Loyola College Chicago. Not only will I never send my college aged sons there and never donate, I will always remember that these student at this college are either poorly educated or morally defunct. To appose our only true allie in the middle east is ill advised and shows a true lack of understanding for history and the current struggle against IS,ISIS and ISIL. At this time why is there no out cry against those who are slaughtering Christians in the middle east and Africa? I am truly very disappointed.
