This place is magical! It’s never looked nor felt like a daycare setting; it’s a beautiful, clean, fun atmosphere. Our son has been attending for two years and the staff are like our family. His teachers are incredible. The office staff respond to any need immediately. I’m so thankful we found The Compass School. Our son is thriving and we leave each day with peace of mind knowing he is happy and safe!

We have three children at The Compass School and couldn’t be happier. Our kids have been in the infant, toddler and preschool wings during our time there and we have had great experiences in each. The teachers are creative and compassionate; the environment encourages exploration and sparks curiosity. We feel very fortunate to have our boys in such a great school.

As a parent, I am thrilled with the care of my son in the infant wing. I rest easy during the day knowing my child is not just being supervised, but is being loved and nurtured by his teachers. They actively encourage his development through play and accommodate his individual feeding/sleeping schedule. As the kindergarten teacher of The Compass School, I believe it speaks volumes that I love my job, the people I work with, and the school that I work in. The staff and families are a community and there is a sense of warmth and welcome in every room. Ive been here for many years and I plan on being here for many more!

Our daughters time at the Compass school is coming to an end, but its been a great 4 years for her there! We moved her out of another place when she was a baby, and are glad because this was the best possible outcome that we could have imagined. The class structure and activities have been perfect for her, the staff has been very caring and knowledgeable, and there was little-to-no turnover during this period. The management and staff are great to work with, are very engaging, and all seem to be very happy working there. Highly recommend!

We love Compass! The staff is always friendly and they go above and beyond to encourage curiosity and make children feel important. All of the teachers are adored by our children. Inside the classrooms, the teachers beautifully balance exploring, learning academically, and learning socially, making each aspect come to life in fun ways. We have tried several daycares in the area and are so happy to have finally found “the one”!

We are thrilled with our experience at The Compass School. The teachers and administration have such passion, dedication and professionalism. Our son is thriving here, after having been at home-care providers in the past. As an Early Childhood professional, I have a high standard for my own little guy. This school far surpasses my expectations in terms of quality care, an incredible facility and an impressive team of professionals. They do their work with such heart, and I know when I leave my son there, he will be loved, nurtured, challenged and supported in his social/emotional, physical and cognitive growth. Go see for yourself- and give your child the gift of this program.

Our 2.5 year old daughter has been attending The Compass School since she was about 5 months old, and we would highly recommend this school to anyone! Compass stood out to us right away during our tours for the infant room, which was warm & inviting, with many interaction opportunities to feel, play, and explore right at their level! It was unlike any other infant room that we had visited, and we continue to be impressed as the teachers create new learning opportunities every day for her! The teachers have become like family, as they take a personal interest in our daughters care and growth, and they have invested in getting to know my husband and I throughout the past couple years. The communication through the parent-teach journals, the binders with project work, and the photos/daily updates allow us to feel a part of her day, and well linked with the teachers! This is a truly special school and we feel very blessed to have found it!

Our son has been attending The Compass School for about 6 months. We are thrilled that we decided to go look at this school. We had considered several well-known places and someone suggested we look at The Compass School before making our decision. When we walked into The Compass School, we knew immediately! The overall atmosphere is very natural. The lights arent overly bright and you dont get a school feel- it just feels like somewhere youd like to spend some time and explore. We are pleased with the classroom size and teacher/student ratio. The teachers are kind and just fantastic with the kids. The Assistant Director, Brandi has been amazing. She is always on top of things. I truly cant say enough about the School and staff - we feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful school like this.

My three children have all been through the toddler and preschool programs. Now my oldest is enrolled in the summer camp. Compass feels like home - thats the easiest way to describe it. Special attention is given to the childs interest and abilities and the curriculum always provokes curiosity and new learning opportunities. The teachers and staff are like family and they treat my children with love and respect. The focus on communication with parents makes me feel like I am there with them during their day and provides opportunities for my husband and I to engage with them while discussing their experiences. Take a tour and you will not be disappointed.

As a mother of a preschooler with Autism, we really had to do our research to find a good match for our son. We were looking for a school that would not define him by what he couldnt do, but would embrace him for all that he can do. They see him as I do: full of possibilities! My son is not able to hold conversations: yet. The kids in his class do not seem to mind, In fact, they engage him and include him and encourage him. The children are a reflection of the diverse and accepting nature of the school. It is project-based learning and the children get to choose as a class what they want to learn about. My son absolutely LOVED the post-office project. I cant believe how much he talks about what he learns about in school. The Compass School has really encouraged his love of learning. If they went up to high school, I would enroll him all the way.

My husband and I love Compass School. My daughter has been going there since 2013 as a toddler and now she is in Kindergarten. I feel so much at peace when I drop her off knowing very well that she will be taken care of so well.Laura and Veruska and the teachers are always so warm and friendly. No matter whatever time of the day I show up and whenever I show up...they will aways greet me with a smile on their face. Its amazing and a pretty difficult thing to do as everyone has challenges in their lives, but they decide to set that aside and just decide to be warm and welcoming. Thank you so much! When my daughter joined Compass, what struck me most was that they knew her name within her days of joining and I figured out that they make such an effort to know all the kids names. That means that they really take care of them.I love their curriculum. The fact that my daughter does not want to come back home is indicative of the fact that she is taken care of so well. They not only teach but also care for the kids.I feel like my daughter is not going to school but to a second home.Thank you Compass! You will always be an integral part of our lives.

I had a great time, on a recent field trip to a pumpkin farm, with my granddaughter who attends The Compass School in Mason, Ohio. The teachers, and all adults that attended, were very supportive and attentive to all the kids needs while experiencing a great Fall outdoor event! Stephanie Davis

We loved The Compass School from the moment we walked in. Our son started as an 8 week old infant and has thrived in the infant, toddler, and preschool rooms. Our 2nd child will start in a few months. The teachers are great, and always open to working with us on schedules, development goals, etc. Everyone is extremely friendly and obviously enjoys working with the kids and families. We love the Parents Night Out and all of the other family events that the school holds throughout the year. It does not feel like a daycare and more like a second home. It has been a great experience.

Compass is not your typical day care program. I have had a child attending the school for the past 8 years... the environment is warm, loving, and engaging for the children. The majority of the teachers at the school have been there for several years and really understand the needs of the children, and the parents. The teaching style (reggio) is hands-on and child driven/teacher directed. In addition to a primary teacher, there are weekly specialty programs such as art, Spanish, and music to further inspire the students. Indicative to the uniqueness of this program, the children and families are also very diverse, bringing additional broadening and exposure to the classroom that you just dont get everywhere.Parents/family are regularly welcomed to participate in activities, field trips, and school-wide events creating a community of individuals that support each other and their children.Being a working professional mom, I was so thankful to have found the Compass School and know that my childrens well-being, education, and development have greatly benefited by the choice to send them there during their early years.

We have been part of the Compass family for nearly 4 ½ years. We have two children (4 ½ and 1) that have excelled in the quality care and teaching environment offered by the Reggio- Emilia inspired learning. Both of our children have attended the Compass School since they were 3 months old and we have never once questioned the commitment or attention they have received from the teachers at Compass. Each teacher, many of which have been there since we started, that we have interacted with is dedicated to our children and creates a thoughtful, trusting, engaging and fun atmosphere for them to learn in. The classroom environment is warm, inviting and always showcases the children’s current projects on the walls. There are plenty of learning activities and “centers” in the classrooms that each child can continue to engage in a specific project that is interesting to them. Each week they are even exposed to drama, music and Spanish classes. You can expect frequent communication via daily email snapshots, weekly journals, and a binder of all of your child’s work. We are very lucky to have found the Compass School to begin our kids’ leaning process. We highly recommend The Compass School.

Expect Amazing Growth & Development! We moved our daughter to The Compass School in Cincinnati in June 2012 - she was just 18 months at the time. She had previously been enrolled at another school that was also NAEYC accredited and we had been happy but we had no idea what her true learning potential was until we moved her to Compass! In 5 short months she is a completely different toddler - performing closer to 3yr old benchmarks which is truly amazing. The hands on approach with the teachers has developed her speech considerably - she is now talking in complete sentences. We were nervous for her to go from a classroom with just 16mo-20mo old toddlers to one that combines 18mo-36mo but it is incredible! She is learning through observing and her ability to play with and learn from toddlers of all ages now is terrific. I had never read much about the Reggio-Inspired Philosophy but now that I am experiencing it first hand I would never go back! Compass is not a daycare facility - it is a school. You receive weekly journals on your childs progress, daily e-mails describing the activities experienced that day, progress reports, monthly newsletters, etc. In addition, you can be as involved in the school as you choose to be which is nice.Compass also offers many different classes so that the children really do get a well-rounded education - even at this young of an age. She gets to experience Drama, Spanish, Art & Music each week with a teacher other than her primary room teacher which is a great way to introduce the concept of learning. Recently she even counted to ten for us in Spanish! If you are looking for a place that will nurture your child with compassion and education then I would highly recommend The Compass School!

Highly recommended!! I absolutely LOVED The Compass School from day one. Laura Carr and Veruzca Ascanio do a great job being the image of the school and giving the support we need as parents. My daughter started at Compass School at the age of 3 (2008) I believe this school set her up for success at her current school. My son is 3 years old and he attends to the school everyday. He loves the school and his teachers, he is a happy boy. I also love the conferences the teachers offer twice a year with a professional review of our childs development. We feel part of this family, always welcoming, always supportive and happy. I couldnt ask for a better environment for these important years of their life and their development. I highly recommend Compass School for everybody living in this area.

The Compass School is an amazing school! My 3 kids have all attended preschool, pre-K and kindergarten at Compass and we couldnt be happier with the teachers they have had and the education they have received. The Reggio Emilia approach that Compass uses allows the children to really engage in their learning and to have fun while doing it. The teachers genuinely care about the children and go out of their way to make sure the child feels needed and an integral part of the classroom. The school strives to make you feel like a part of a community and not just a school where you drop off and pick up your kids. They have many events throughout the year that encourage the entire family and even extended family to participate. Its a wonderful way to be a part of your childs learning and school environment. I have recommended The Compass School to many of my friends and will continue to do so!

We could not love Compass more. We moved our children to Compass from a school closer to Dayton a few months ago. Our toddler and preschooler both love going to this school. The teachers and administrators were amazing during the transition, which was particularly difficult for our younger son, who was experiencing some separation anxiety at the time. His teachers did such a wonderful job with him that, now, he asks for his main teacher at all hours of the day and is constantly reciting the names of his friends in class. He truly seems happy and well taken care of. Our older son also comes home every day with wonderful stories about what he has learned about colors, Spanish, art, letters and counting. I can also tell that his teacher is very focused on providing him with positive guidance and a nurturing environment based on how he reacts to difficult situations at home and how he interacts with his little brother. Every day on the drive to school, both of my boys erupt into ABCs and songs they learned at school and seem excited to attend. We could not be happier about the education and care they receive at Compass and highly recommend it!

We have been extremely pleased with the Compass School for the last 1 1/2 years. Their Reggio Emilia System of teaching has been very beneficial for our 3 year old daughter. She has become a much more outgoing, confidant and talkative toddler. What really sets Compass apart is the passion and dedication the teachers have for teaching the children. While day cares high turnover in staff, the Compass School has teachers who have been their 5, 7 and 10 years plus. It starts with the excellent management of the school by Exec Director Laura and Asst Director Veruska. They keep the school running smoothly and keep the parents active in the school and plan lots of fun events throughout the year for the kids and their extended families. I cant say enough good things about Compass except, they are just like family where everyone knows your name.

We love The Compass School! My child in Pre-K is so excited to go to school everyday! It makes it so much easier to leave everyday knowing that he enjoys being there and is so well cared for. The curriculum is great and he is totally on track to enter Kindergarten next year. The teachers he has had more than exceeded our expectations! They treat the children as their own while they are in their care. They have become an important part of our family! We love them all.My school-aged child has attended the after school program and the summer camp. She is participating in other after school activities this year, but if I need backup care after school Laura (director) and Veruska (assistant director) are so accommodating and more than happy to help out. We are months away from summer vacation, but she is already begging to go back to camp there again this year. The Compass School emphasizes the children learning from experience and nature (Reggio-Inspired Learning). Because of this the outdoor space that the children have to run and play is phenomenal. They spend as much time in the outdoors as they can, which is really important to us.We have moved a few times so we have experience with a few other childcare/early education centers. The Compass School is by far the best place we have ever been. There is a real sense of community in the school which is extremely hard to find. We, as a family, can not recommend it enough.

We have had our children at the Compass School since 2010 when our infant daughter started in the Explorer classroom. It was a big transition for our family, but the teachers immediately made us feel welcome and secure. My wife was so excited to be able to visit the school on her lunch to feed our daughter; she tells our friends that Compass really contributed to a positive and successful nursing experience for our daughter- and now our son.Our daughter is now in the preschool and our son is in the infant wing. We continue to have great experiences with all of the teachers. They are all friendly, educated, energetic people! My wife and I enjoy the numerous methods of communication. I love the daily emails from the teachers that explain the happenings during the day. With the emails, I can ask my daughter about her learning and continue the conversation at home. My wife loves the academic portfolio that is created by the teachers. Every time we have family in town, she is pulling out my daughters infant or toddler portfolio to show pictures of our daughter engaged and learning! We both love the weekly journal that is hand written by the teacher about our children specifically. We write back to the teachers each week and have now filled 3 composition notebooks! My wife and I would agree that we love the method in which the teachers teach the most about the Compass school. We have very curious, passionate, interested children and the learning method really caters to that! The school follows the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The children learn through projects and are encouraged to discover, explore, and create! At young three, in addition to knowing basic things like ABCs, math concepts, basic life sciences, etc, my daughter is confident to ask questions, make discoveries on her own, and take time to observe her surroundings. I feel like the learning environment at Compass has contributed greatly to these traits in my daughter.I highly recommend the Compass School to anyone and everyone! From the warm environment to the welcoming teachers and administrators, we continue to have a great experience at Compass!

We have been with The Compass School since 2009. Both of our daughters started there when they were 8 weeks old (they are now 4 years and 15 months). I always told my husband that we would be spending money for quality childcare since we both work, and quality is truly what Compass is all about. The infant teachers are so nurturing and caring while also helping the children with basic communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal). The children really pick up speech so much faster when they learn sign language, as well. Communication is at a maximum at this level, from feedings to diapers to basic need-to-knows. Infants schedules are individualized per each parents wishes, and I was never made to feel that I was inconveniencing anyone.Once they start Toddlers, learning really gets going. It is amazing to me the sheer extent of knowledge gained between 18 months and 3 years. Some of my older daughters lesson plans included a study of France (wine making, Notre Dame, the Louvre) and a study of pets (a visit from a veterinarian, making pet birds, choosing favorite animals). In Preschool, my older daughter has rapidly learned both recognition and how to write her entire alphabet (upper and lower case) as well as numbers 1-20 (we are still working on 11-20). She shows obvious pre-reading skills and is developing social skills everyday. Her teachers are amazingly patient and kind, but also so knowledgeable. The most recent lesson plan surrounded ice cream (they let the children choose, as a class)...they made ice cream in a few different ways, visited a local ice cream shop, and even opened their own shop for parents (they all had different jobs from cashier to server to bus boy or girl). In addition to regular classwork, art, music, drama, and Spanish classes are provided each week. The children also have the opportunity to visit the other classrooms once a week to see what else is going on in the school.I cannot say enough great things about The Compass School. I have been comfortable leaving my children there from the first day, and I know what an amazing education they are receiving. I would highly recommend it as a true school for all young children.

My son is now 18 months & has been at Compass since he was 4 months old. We toured several child care options in the area & Compass stood out. They have such a great academic program where they focus on age- appropriate activities to enable learning. The infant teachers are so great about communication with the parents... you get a daily sheet of specifics of your baby- how much they ate, slept, potty, etc. & they also send a daily email on the activities...songs they sang, painting, textures they explored, etc. They also take a lot of pictures... they send them to you in an email & also update their individual portfolios. Grandma was in town one time & she was able to participate in their activity that day... they did whip cream art & they captured many pictures & included it in his portfolio. I was able to give that page to Grandma & now she has a great memory of her time with Jack at Compass.Jack has now transitioned to the Toddler room & is doing great! The room is 18-36 mo & its been great for his development. They have an outdoor playground that they enjoy daily. They have some sort of lesson in the morning... lately theyve been focusing on 1 spanish word... such as Azul. They colored things Blue & learned that Azul meant Blue in Spanish. They are also doing a unit on India right now... so each day its a new topic. Learning about geography, music, art, food, language, etc. They have a structured day so they know what to expect throughout. Were extremely happy with Compass & when we have another one, well be happy to have her/him join the infant wing as well!
