I was reluctant to schedule dance lessons before my wedding because the idea of choreographed dancing makes me really anxious. I have never enjoyed dancing, let alone dancing in front of other people. Or so I thought!Doing lessons with Bud was one of the best decisions that my wife and I made as far as wedding planning. As someone with zero dance experience prior to this past month when I took three lessons from Bud with my fiancé and one with my mother to prepare for my upcoming wedding, I highly recommend the Your First Dance program by Bud Walters for any couple in the Cincinnati area planning to get married. Buds energy, enthusiasm, and expertise for dance instruction makes each session a fun and engaging challenge with plenty of laughs mixed in throughout. The amount of improvement Ive noticed in my fiancé and I as dance partners these past few weeks has been remarkable and I see us continuing to dance together well after our wedding day thanks to Bud.

Bud was the absolute BEST to work with. My mother in law found him at a bridal show and gifted us classes. We had so much fun with our first dance and learned a lot. Where do I even start? My (now) husband and I only wanted to do a dance class for fun- we know we wouldnt be able to learn a whole dance in one lesson the week of our wedding (but we tried)! We picked the perfect guy to have fun learning to dance with without even knowing! Bud was personable, funny and a great teacher. After attending one lesson we wish we would of had time to do more! Taking lessons from Bud made our first dance even more special than we could have ever imagined. Bud was so understanding when we had to postpone our wedding due to Covid and even when I had to cancel some sessions due to bee stings and a beloved dog passing away. Bud is AWESOME! My husband and I were nervous about the first dance, but we ended up having a great time and got so many compliments on our dancing skills! Multiple people commented that they usually don’t expect anything from the first dance but were impressed by ours (and we are not good dancers normally). Also, when I look back on wedding planning, our dance lessons stand out as one of the most fun things we did together. I cant say enough wonderful things about my experience with Bud. But first of all let me be honest when I say that my partner and I are NOT coordinated people, we are extremely analytical and we struggled as this was our first time slow dancing with each other. Bud kept us calm and never let us feel like we could not do this. He kept himself available to us throughout the week, encouraging us to call with questions as we practiced on our own. He even walked us through the steps over the phone one night. We came into his class with no dance background, never having slow danced together, awkward but eager to learn for our FIRST dance at our upcoming Wedding - we are now leaving with a new skill that we can use for the rest of our lives. Bud is a wonderful person, extremely charismatic and warm. He teaches out of his house, which is just lovely and makes you feel at home. The experience itself is something Ill never forget. We hope we can take some lessons in the future to keep us improving!! I feel like Ive gained a new skill and a new friend in Bud. If youre questioning whether you should take these lessons for your wedding, or just for yourself, take it from me and just do it! We took dance lessons with Bud to prepare for our wedding. Our goal was to look confident and have fun. Three lessons with Bud and we were ready. He is kind in his approach and specific in his instruction. He provides targeted feedback and asks lots of questions to make sure you feel good about the steps. I love that he doesnt teach you a choreographed routine, rather he shows you a series of steps, turns and spins that the two of you can work on together. It was tough to allow my fiance to truly lead, but weve had a great time working with Bud and are excited to show off our moves at our upcoming wedding. Even my fiance, who doesnt usually love to dance had a great time. It was a nice way to connect during the wedding planning process.

Bud was great!!! My fiancé and I are NOT dancers. After the first class I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and discouraged that we would not be able to pull this off. Bud was very encouraging and even spent extra time with us to ensure we would get it. He could sense if something wasn’t working and would show us another way to think about it. If you want a choreographed dance for your wedding or event do not use Bud, however, if you want to learn to dance the RIGHT way this is the right person for anyone. He is an awesome instructor, I feel that these lessons are timeless and we will be using them for years to come, not just for our wedding. Do not pass the opportunity up to learn from this dance teaching expert. We will probably use him later just for fun because we had fun learning from him.

Your First Dance by Bud Walters was exactly what we needed to prepare for our first wedding dance. Bud was a patient teacher and not only taught us the fundamentals for our first dance but also gave us tips to make it easier to get along and be patient with one another on the dance floor. Bud helped my fiancé and I hone our first dance. He is warm, charming, and an absolute delight. You feel immediately at home with Bud attentively instructing you and his two adorable little pups obediently perched on the stairs spectating. Bud is a wealth of knowledge about dancing but also the practical components of a wedding, considering factors such as one’s dress, shoes, the reception layout etc. He even presented us with an eye-catching way to walk up and approach the dance floor. Bud ended up making two blundering inexperienced dancers feel more confident and we will always remember our time with him.

I had originally met Bud at a bridal convention, but was unable to convince my now husband to take lessons last June 16. Fast forward to two weeks before the wedding in May 17 and my now husband wants to take dance lessons!! I called Bud Walters that night and he was able to give us two dance lessons before the big day on such short notice! He was able to turn our two left feet into something beautiful. Bud Walters is the best in the business.My fiancé and I were really nervous about our first dance. We went to a dance studio by our house and had an awful experience. The instructor was impatient and insisted on teaching us to fox trot when we really wanted something slower and more romantic. We left so discouraged. I became even more nervous when TLC informed me they wanted to film our first dance as part of our wedding clip package for an episode I was featured in. We can’t dance and now it was going to on national television?Luckily for us…we found the incredible Bud Walters. Bud was so fun and he made us feel comfortable and encouraged. He listened to what we wanted and incorporated it into a beautiful, joyful moment for us. Our dance was beautiful and one of the most special parts of the evening. We began lessons with very little knowledge of what we were doing for our first dance, and left with confidence and a greater respect for one another and how we move together. Going into dance lessons, my husband and I were dreading it. But Bud broke the ice and made both of us laughing and comfortable 10 minutes in. We actually practiced and had fun with it. We did 3 lessons, and the night before our wedding we had the dance down perfectly. Bud made us into confident dancers(and thats saying a lot considering I have no rhythm and 2 left feet). I was really sad when our third lesson was over cause I wanted to just keep coming back once a week for the rest of my life. It was that great of an experience. Bud is probably in my top 10 favorite people I have ever met and you NEED to book him for your wedding. Will make all the difference, way better then just swaying on the floor for 5 minutes.

I saw him at a bridal show doing the fashion show and talking about his business. He asked who was already married and I raised my hand. He then laughed at me and said honey youre like twelve. Dont worry theres time. The second time around is usually better anyway it was very rude and disrespectful to my marriage. I can take a joke but that was just uncalled for. What made you think that was okay to say to someone at a bridal show where youre trying to gain business. Then at the end of his little skit he asked another young lady in the audience when shes getting married. She responded and he said is he the one? Unlike this girl over here and pointed to me. I was there with 2 of my friends that are getting married and both were looking for a dance instructor. He sealed the deal and will not be getting business from either of them. (Not that I need to add but I am 26 years old and HAPPILY married and we have a child together. Divorce is not a funny subject yet he made light of it. Very disrespectful.)

I went to Bud for help with my first dance and father/daughter dance. He did a wonderful job of giving us tips on how to make small changes that make a big impact.
