I was hoping this school would help my child love school again. I was initially impressed that the curriculum included martial arts, and had a system in place for when the kids need a break. However, there have been 2 principals in 2 years; the grading system is confusing, at best; it has very limited transportation service; the school building is shoddy and closed several times due to flooding. Also, for the school to supposedly specialize in children with ADHD and other disorders, the lunch time is super-short and there is no playground for the children to expend energy. Some of the teachers seemed to genuinely care for my childs academics, but he started to slip through the cracks, and i ended up withdrawing him and enrolling him into a virtual school instead, which has been a success. Overall, Summit Academy is not all its cracked up to be.

My daughter went here for a little over a year and it wasnt a great experience. We came there looking for a school where my daughter would be able to learn skills to manage her ADHD and learning at the same time. Prior to my daughter going to this school all of her teachers raved about how sweet, caring, and the willingness my daughter was, but she couldn’t sit still and loved to talk more than she should and the pace of the class went too fast for her. We sat down and talked to the admissions staff at Summit and they seemed as if they were on the same page and could provide what we were seeking for our daughter.After my daughter attending Summit the bullying began and didn’t stop until we took her out of the school. The students told my daughter that they bully everyone it their way of dealing with new students, because they do not like the change. This is a skill that should be addressed and the student should be taught how to adjust to this and the skills to express how they felt. This did not just happen to my daughter, but to every new student that came into my daughters class. The bullying never stopped and I was only made aware of the situation through my daughter, never made aware of the situation through her teachers or any other staff at the school. I punished my daughter many times based only upon what the teachers told me. Constant emails about how my daughter was the problem, but together with the staff and myself we couldn’t figure out what he issue was and why she was the “one” causing the problems. I still regret not listening to my daughter, and I understand now how young students commit suicide. I just always took her teachers word for it.I only figured it out that her teacher weren’t being honest when I sat both of them down and her teacher and I were going to show my daughter that her teacher and I were on the same page about everything, and the teacher told me in an email that my daughter was climbing the desks and chairs. I brought that up to both of them and my daughter said no I wasn’t climbing on anything I was sitting in my chair and the girl sitting next to her pushed her out of her chair causing her to fall. This is when I stopped and took a second look at what was going on and I just decided to talk to my daughter and not instantly take the teachers word about what was going on.My last straw with the school was when her teacher emailed me and said that my daughter was being bad in class and that she kept getting into my daughter’s face (very out of character for my daughter), I then spoke to my daughter and she was jumped by 4 students. These student pushed, kicked, punched, and threw her belongings in the trash along with another girl, it was so bad throughout the year that my daughter told me she didn’t want to live anymore after she was jumped. The teacher never made me aware nor the other students mother about what was going on and what happened. And my daughter told me that she told her teacher about her being jumped in class, not in the hall or bathroom. Upon having a meeting with the staff it was apparent it wasn’t a big deal and I was told time and again that I cannot know what happens to these students who did this to her. I spoke to every level of teacher and staff about this and it was just as if they could care less.I haven’t spoken to a lawyer about the situation, but I am planning on it. Just be aware if you are thinking of sending your child there. I have not spoken to a lawyer yet, but I do plan on doing so in the next few weeks. I just don’t want to see what happened to my daughter happen to another child just be careful when making your decision on sending any child here.

Good so far just mad they dont have her bus service together

Summit Academy is a good school for kids with ADHD and other disabilities too because I went their when I was in third grade and back there through 7th and 8th grade. Also my experience there was amazingly wonderful.

I loved this school so very much and I hated switching schools I did get bullied a bit and the teachers didnt do much but I did love the school but most of all my fith grade experience was amazing with mrs: jarmen

This school is bad. It has broken heating so its always cold, the food is bad and the place is not insulated. Also there are holes/cracks in some places that let the air come in. also the teachers could be charged with rape because the students go in the principle office for long periods of time and told not to say anything. Also most of them r ugly and the school smells like balls.also when the principle comes out of the office theirs white stuff all over him. and he smells like balls. also theres bugs like: waterbugs and bed bugs and one time i seen a bug eat the school food and it died one time there was a taco with blue and purple color on it it was discusting

They definetly just made our school a prison no recess we cant have friends all because of the schoolboard its kinda sad
