My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated.Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.

I graduated from here in 2019, it was a great experience. I recommend if you need a degree without spending $50,000, go here. The credits transfer well to other schools as well for continuing education. The teachers are not only college professors, but high school teachers as well with this being a part time gig. Because of that, they often arent a strict as some other teachers youll find. The only downfall that I had an issue with was the mandatory Co-Op experience. It was very difficult because I was a full time employed and full time student, I couldnt find additional time to work extra to get those credits. It was like pulling teeth trying to get out of the co-op but after months of work and essays and employee recommendation letters, I finally got the credit and graduated with my AA in Psychology.

Pretty good school so far. Laid back atmosphere. I’m currently taking online courses and they have been going well, communication with professors are excellent. However I did not appreciate the politics this school plays in my education. They will occasionally send an email out regarding their stance in politics and what they deem important (much like the media). I didn’t come to Cincinnati state for your input in politics. I can’t here for an education. Otherwise the school is alright. Wish there was better communication between financial aid and what important things pertain to me.

Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly - they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA - of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel - I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams - although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests... Sorry? That is literately your job... The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck.Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school.... For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so.The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this).Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish.Take my advice and stay away from Nati State.-Brad, MSHI

I studied Network Administration here and am very pleased with the services I received. I really like the older part of the school, spending time in the basement was always my favorite. Nice little gym and shower room too. The school is easy to access being right off the highway and the parking garages are great to have for when its nasty out.School staff all are trained and competent. Im going to miss that cafeteria though and my late night monsters taking classes I was too tired to be in, but I did it. Graduated and have nothing negative to say about the place. I read the reviews of students attending within a year ago. As a 30 year army veteran and officer looking to change from being a Civil/Structural Engineer into Nuclear Med. Tech. I am extremely concerned about the instructors timeliness, not posting grades in a timely manner, registrar losing transcripts and having no record of a students graduation. How does that happen!? In reading all the negative comments I see a pattern I do not like. I will not be spending my GI Bill at this community college.

My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.

I had a lot of great teachers at Cincinnati State. Yes you will get your occasional teacher who is unorganized, there is one in every profession. I like how you can get enrolled in one day with Fast Track. Tuition is cheap you get what you pay for. Brandon Montoya was the best A and P teacher ever highly recommend him if the class is in your curriculum. I used to work as a federal work study in the admission department receiving all transcripts and sending all emails in regards to placement testing. Being a work study takes money off your tuition and gave me time to study and work on homework. Enrollment was quick and easy for me when I applied there in 2016. I really liked the school the schedule was way easier to put into my busy working schedule.

I tried the welding program here first. The instructor gave us at most 30 minutes of instruction over the course of the entire semester. When you had questions you were made to wait until he was done looking at his Facebook. Then he would give 10 seconds of his time. They promoted him. Also tried computer science. The chair teaches a mandatory class where he stormed out of the class one day since he had some things going on and didnt like the class response to his tedious methods. He reneged on his threat for an immediate final exam. The main grade in that class was a group project. Two of my group members disappeared- one was replaced by someone who had missed 5 weeks of class. The other did homework for other classes during class time. Dont waste your time here unless you cant go anywhere else.

I am a new student here I started in the fall semester. My first semester was okay... the teachers were somewhat unorganized. One teacher lost my test and gave me a zero. He didnt remember I turned it in. He had to go back and change my grade. My second semester in 2017 was awful. I had a lot going on on my behalf and spoke to my teachers about the concerns. They seemed to not care much and failed me at the end of the semester. They gave me false hope in terms of them helping me pass my class. I made up all my work and still was failed by my teachers.Honestly, I believe it is only about the money and not about the well being of students. We also have to wait 2-3 months before we get our refund checks to pay for our books and needs for classes. Campus bookstore doesnt have many used books and make you pay hundreds of dollars not being able to rent or return the books after the semester ends. Have to pay $75 every semester for a parking pass which accumulates to $450 a year! Not having a very good experience here.

I went here for Audio & Video Production. During my time there, the video classes changed curriculum to only teach Avid because “that’s the way the industry is headed.” Spoiler alert: no one uses Avid. Everyone uses Final Cut, a program I was never able to touch. The Capstone class was taken away the year I was supposed to do it so I didn’t get to experience working with a client and incorporating all of my skills in a real world scenario. My co-op was with a “company” that literally taught me nothing and doesn’t exist today. The teachers went on strike while I was there so we had a math teacher teaching us Audio III who had no idea how the recording studio worked. I’m still paying off my student debt, six years after graduating. No one from my graduating class is doing anything with their degree (to my knowledge).

I called them that day and they told me to expect another phone call within the next two days, its going on day 5, and no phone call, now the books I need are on backorder, not that I could order them anyways. Also, the Financial Aid office has delayed the processing of my financial aid due to a mistake they made, twice. I also made weekly phone calls to figure it out, and now I have to wait three week for everything to process, that puts me 4 days before the start of the semester to find out if I have financial aid or not. At first I thought that Cincy State would be a better and different school from Gateway, boy was I wrong. Gateway Community & Tech is a way better school they care about their students and will do what they can to see you succeed and not fail. Teachers and Deans at Cincy State not all care if you fail need help. All they want is your money!! I have had nothing but problems with English class online and with both English teachers dropping me from my summer class and now my fall. This is after I email them about my assignment that they decide to put me as a No Show instead of emailing me back and helping me with my school work so that I succeed instead they dont care what happend to you as long as they get paid for your attendance and report you as a No Show. When they do that they get paid and you pay double out of your pocket for it. My English teacher I had for Spring was a great teacher and she taught e a lot and helped me along the way to better myself as a person and a writer. I wish there were more teachers like her. So Monday I am going to call and talk to someone and will let you know what happens from there. Summer i even talked to the Dean over English and she was not the nicest person and didnt care either!! I have a Pure Romance Business and a Cleaning Business so I am thinking why do I need college for business anyway right, so I may just be done with it and Cincinnati State. After all they charge you more fees than any school I know and fees that they shouldnt when your classes are online. Oh and I pay more for my online classes at that! I cannot recommend this college to anyone. I had a horrible experience when I went to Cincy State. The majority of the instructors that I had were flat out lazy and would be 10 to 15 minutes late to class. Several of them would wait until the very last moment to post grades. I approached several of my instructors in the past about my grades, and they told me they would have grades up by the end of the week. They never did until the end of the semester, so you would never know how you were doing until the semester ended. The marketing instructor I had lost one of my tests and she never bother to tell me about it until the end of the semester. She sends me an email informing me that I never took the missing test and needed me to come in to make it up before grades were due. Well, by then I was already on vacation with my family and couldnt drive back from Florida. I had one Algebra instructor who had a very difficult time trying to explain how he solved a problem. He also relied too much on PowerPoint slides that were clear as mud.Not all of the instructors that I had were terrible. There were a few that I had who genuinely cared about our education and were passionate about teaching. Unfortunately, the majority of them did not care. My counselor left a lot to be desired. She was a messy and unorganized woman. She, at one point, told me did not believe me when I tried to talk to her about the issues I was having with my instructors. I believe she eventually got tired of me and had me reassigned to another counselor who was even worse. At this point my GPA had hit rock bottom because I never knew how well I was doing in some of my classes. My new counselor had the gall to tell me I should change my major. He also never wanted to listen to my concerns about several of the instructors. After getting so frustrated with him and the college I dropped out.My problems with the college did not end there. After taking a year off from school, I decided to go to UC Blue Ash to finish my college education. I decided to get my college transcript from Cincy State so I didnt have to retake the general education classes. That process was like pulling teeth. It was so hard to get my transcripts. What should have been one trip ended up being five trips down to the college to see if they were ready. Eventually I got what I needed and did not look back. There were plenty of other issues with the college when I was there. The computers in the student labs were virus and malware ridden. The food there was expensive and ok. Parking was a nightmare. Parking at the time was not covered in the tuition and a pass would cost you $50 which was the cheaper option or else you would have to pay $5 to exit the parking lot. Their Blackboard system was a joke. It was unusable because it would crash or go undo periodical maintenance which made online classes very difficult. There are better colleges in the tri-state area where you get your moneys worth. I do not recommend this place and advise checking out UCs community college branches.

Other than that, I think this is an ideal school for someone who wants to get an associates at a cheaper price than at a University. All I can say is that before you do the Compass test please dont slack on it as that will determine if youd have to take remedial classes that dont count towards your G.P. A or credit hours. Itll be like taking some high school courses all over again. I guess thats how they make their money.
