I just graduated from this place in May got transferred in June to Los Angeles Jobcorps. Food when being talked about the chef gets sensitive to critism not great food but better than Gainesville Joborps Centers. I started in September 2019 theres room for improvements especially when you talk with wellness or cafeteria staff they are completely despised by students because of lack of communicatation and sensitivity towards critism.

I graduated from Clearfield Job Corps in February of 2002. This place is mostly for dropouts and delinquents. When I was there there were fights almost daily, mostly in the dorm rooms which were 8 people to a room. Its like being in juvenile hall, but with a lot more freedom. There were weekend trips that you could go on if you were phased up. Phases were like an honor system. When you first get there, you are phase 0, and after a month or so you phase up to 1 then depending on your behavior etc you could be phased all the way up to honor 4 I believe was the highest. Being high phase meant you could get weekend passes if you were over 18, and you could sign yourself in and out of the center during free times. The center did a lot to try to reward us and keep us busy, but there were a lot of kids that were there for the wrong reasons, just being trouble makers and not taking the training seriously. Besides the free housing, free food, and free education, you were able to work on center doing various jobs for minimum wage. Again, based on phase. They also gave you like $1600 dollars once you graduated, and part of the graduation requirements was that you had a job ready to go to, which they helped you find. So if you take it seriously, stay busy and behave yourself, you can come out of this program with a high school diploma, and a trade. Its a great program, and I definitely recommend it. Just dont take any bull and mind your business. Youll be ok

Do NOT I repeat do Not allow you kids to go here. They are treated like prisoners. They are stuck in their rooms with only a 20 min break during the day to go outside. The meals ( if they even get one) are extremely disgusting. They are not allowed to leave or have visitors at any point. They come into the rooms at night to make sure the kids are sleeping and they are in trouble if they aren’t. They are not allowed any entertainment while in their rooms. This place is worse then jail and has caused several kids to slip into depression. We will be taking this to the news and getting lawyers involved

I was on campus in clearfield 1999/2000. In an environment with so many troubled youth, it can be hard to get on with your school and trade. You have to be the one to make the decision to be there for a good reason or to just be there! This is an amazing program and many kids could benefit from it if they only knew these resources existed. It took me getting into trouble and having a court order to find out Job corps. was a thing. I had some AMAZING teachers and staff while I was there. Bill Ghelling, the auto2 instructor was an amazing man and if I could I would visit him! I dont work in the auto field, but I do all my own work on my cars and some friends and families cars. Signed Michael Wayne

Graduated back in 2006, yes this place is strick and as an inductee program for six weeks before you start anything. This place is for drop outs and troubled kids. You have to make the choices to better your self and progress at tour speed. Every place room had TVs connected to satellite or you can hook up your game systems to them. They had common areas to chil and food to buy. Games to check out. They had free food ath e amazing cafeteria. The campus is huge and beautiful. Mostly kept by the kids who attended for trade works. I learned basic electrical work in residential and commercial environments. At the same time I got my GED. If you child behaves enough not getting ing untroubled have a chance to earn a bulldog card and pay raises. The bulldog card garts you off campus trips to paint ball tournaments or trips out the the mall. Here you learn basic life skills basic budgeting on a very small budget. Deep cleaning once a week, and laundry. I decided to join the Marines after which they helped me get in touch with the recruiter. Local kids go home on good behavior every weekend. Open waiting for my ship date . I also attended facility maintenance. Basic knowledge about browns keeping repairs to buildings. This place gave me answers gave me light in my life when there was no hope. They helped when I asked and were allways kind. This place set me up for ten successfull years in the marines. For there was not match difference in the rules. I became a Sargent and a faimly becouse of this place. It can be hard. But there are times of leave were they pay for you to go home for the holidays and for your return. Ive seen this place give kids hope , I have also seen kids give up becouse it was to hard or they couldnt leave the streets behind them. They give 1600 on graduation. You be trained on how to sel your self to get job and will allways help you find a job if you loose one. They care and enjoy there jobs. Most counselors are veterans. Yes there is lights out time and they are watched as they sleep. They are ensuring safety for the kids there. This place is amazing I cant thank them enough.

I am shocked and appalled by this place! My daughter was attending when they sent everyone home for Covid shutdowns, I get that, however they did not offer to get her into any online schooling, she was told that she had not been enrolled in any of the schooling programs yet although she had been there for approx 6 weeks already. She was told to leave her belongings there that the lock downs would not be long, when it became apparent that this was not the case she ask for her stuff many times over several months. When finally I text the counselor asking why they would not give her belongings back they suddenly sent them back. Although the counselor never responded to my text. Then after almost a year she finally got the message that they were bringing her back, she had just got a job but told them that she would have to quit because she was going back to Job Corp. A few days after that they said, no they would not be bringing her back because of an increase of Covid cases in Utah. She went back to her job and ask if they still had an opening that she could come back to, they did and brought her back on. A few days after she started to work Job Corp messaged again we are bringing you back. So she quit again and went back. Then the hell began! She was put in a room alone, told not to leave. They brought her meals and set them outside her door and knocked. She was not allowed to go out of her room at all. They did 3 nasal swabs to test for Covid because they kept messing it up. She tested negative. They put her back in her room. 2nd day, still locked in her room, ask if she could get an Amazon package if I sent her some books and things to pass the time of isolation and they told her no, nothing could be delivered because of Covid. They at least let her go outside for 20 minutes alone (prisoners get more time in the fresh air). When she tried to ask questions she was told to go back to her room. She was very upset by now and her mental health was declining fast! 3rd day she is very upset because a guard had lost an important paper that they said they would put at the front for a family member to pick up. Security was in her room questioning her most of the morning. At noon she realized that they had not brought her lunch, she figured they were just running late. 2:30 they finally get her lunch but not before the lady that was over the dorm spoke rudely to her ( I was on the phone and heard this) telling her that she should have called and let them know she had not gotten lunch. We decided that she had been put through enough mental anxiety and hell and she called her counselor to say she was going home, he told her that she could not leave until tomorrow. This is a prison for kids and young adults! She finally got ahold of the mental health care person who had to arrange for her to leave! My daughter is not a minor but an adult who should not have been held captive by this place. I would tell anyone who thought of going to Job Corp to NEVER do it! It has been the worst experience and I fear my daughter will have lasting mental health issues because of it! I have not put everything that happened here because it would be too long and this is already long. Please do not go to this hell hole! The staff are rude, they are demeaning. This place is suppose to teach people how to work in the world yet cant get their own establishment under control or do a professional job and the people that go there should not be treated like, no, worse than a prisoner!

I attended June 1993 (turned 17 my 2nd day there) to May 1994. Basically my senior year of high school. I was one of those troubled kids that had to chose jail or job corps. In the first 2 months I completed their required courses, world of work and others, G.E.D prep (also attained my G.E.D.) after I chose the carpentry program for my trade. Was able to build a few projects on campus, as well as rebuild the ranger station on Antelope Island. With determination and hard work I finished the carpentry program in 9 months. Made great connections with many people. And have even ran into a few back home in the years since. After many years of miscellaneous jobs ( costom houses, roofing, concrete foundation, apartment maintenance) I needed to do more. With the same drive I had back then, I went through the union ironworker apprenticeship 2002 -2005. Was 2 points away from apprentice of the year as well as (see pic) the first apprentice ironworker in denver to build a skyscraper in 30 years.Point Im making??? You can use this opportunity as the foundation to a huge successful career and life..... if you WANT it!!!I say YOU CAN DO IT !!! 💪💪💪

I was attending in May and had to leave because of my son. They told me that they would be accommodating and would actually help. But when that time came they had switched my counselor from one lady to another name Betty. Ms. Betty needs to be retired or let go. She can BARELY hear you when you go to her for something important or have your monthly evaluation. On top of, I found out that I couldve been a bereavement leave, she didnt even attempt to let me know anything about it. I found out after the three days were up that she couldve done that and I couldve finished as I planned and prayed to. Nor did she follow up as she was supposed to. I literally was top and ahead of my class and was about to start my Welding training that following week. I strongly believe if I had a better and more informed counsel that I wouldve have finished. Because the program is great its just the people employed there. Also had one of the security guards going with the cafeteria manager who recently had gotten divorced. I just wish I hadve had someone else who was more informed and not as elderly.

It amazes me how long it takes for security to check the kids out of campus. I can see thorough searches to keep unwanted stuff out of the facility, but what are they trying to keep in!!The kids there get good educational help, but I think it is WAY too close to prison life and at times stunts the educational growth of those attending. Especially when a student gets a teacher who drives on about his own life, rather than teach material that is relevant, and then had the nerve to write up students who are coming out or arent listening. There really needs to be some state educational oversight at this place to make it a better educational experience.

I am a former student of job corpse. And I know a lot of people speak poorly about this facility however I have nothing bad to say about anything or anyone on this campus. Everything is absolutely amazing from the food to the staff to the students it really falls on you about how you make job corpse there are plenty of things to do on campus even though they may seem repetitive theres a pool hall or regular pool a game on they have a tennis court a really really huge gym and monthly trips anywhere I attended a trip to Yellowstone Park going across Idaho Wyoming and Ive been in many different associations such as student government. The first annual Color Run was absolutely amazing we did a two-mile walk through out the campus and the staff members through colored powder on us we threw parties where we had no food no alcohol and no marijuana and still got super lit I definitely enjoyed this place and even though Im going through an appeal to get back to campus right now I still plan on going back and doing the exact same things that I was doing before the policy for drug use is amazing and its very nice tolerable I did not use when I got up there however I had too much marijuana in my system to pass my second drug test I definitely believe that that policy should be changed because a lot of the students that attend Job Corps will not be able to pass a drug test that is probably the only thing that is bad about this location and job corpse in general however life is what you make it and job course is only what you make it I enjoyed my time and I cannot wait to return

Overall this is a good program. Theres some students that come here and waste time and others that do take advantage of the program. Some instructors dont want to see the students succeed and others truly care about their students. My husband and I attended this school in 2017 and he received his high school diploma here, he started the after school tutoring program here with the help of Mr. Randall Anderson . If you come to job corps with your significant other just know some instructors dont like to see happy couples and they dont like to see them succeed. Not all instructors are like this its just something you should be aware of. I came here and got my CNA certification. Thanks to this program I realized I wanted to go back to school and get a better education. I am currently attending a nursing program and will be graduating in May next year. I just want to tell those who plan to attend here to focus on their education and dont waste your time fooling around. They offer work on campus and they also give you a biweekly allowance to help out with whatever you need to buy. If you dont want to work on campus you can get a job off campus. They also have advanced training, for those that dont mind being away from home and their loved ones you should take advantage of this. (Im saying this because I’m in nursing school and it is not cheap, job corps offers an LPN program for free).2020 Update: I am now a nurse in the state of California. My husband is a full-time college student he is majoring in Diagnostic Radiology. It all started with the help of Job Corps.

Free training, free food, free roof, free clothes. Hard to beat. But it wears you down. Going to trade from 8 to 4 everyday. Doing the same thing everyday. The food was good when I first got here. The havent changed anything. Ive been here 6 months and its just rotating menus. The dorms are hit and miss. If you have an RA you dont dream about kicking into traffic youre lucky, even luckier if you have roommates you can tolerate. Or you might be me, still up at 11pm because your roommate cant be quiet when hes watching crap on YouTube. The 46 bucks a month doesnt make it worth it to be here. This is a closed campus. You cant leave at the end of the trade day. You can only leave Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you come back for any reason you cant leave again until the next Friday. Bring your own blankets and for Buddhas sake bring your own pillows, youre going to be sleeping on a mattress directly on the springs. Twin Size. Some of the staff are alright, they genuinely care and understand that it sucks here and try not to make our time harder. Others... See us as annoying obstacles who cant behave. They dont understand the stress this place places on us. They dont think about the fact that we cant go home at the end of the day, they can do whatever they want at the end of the day. They havent eaten the same food for the past 6 months (or in automotives case 2 1/2 years). They lack empathy and basic decency. And they suck at what they do. Ive also noticed sexism here. Mostly in the older staff, very preferable to women, its funny when it happens to me because its never anything to big. Like an instructor having a 20 minute conversation with me and my female friend but only acknowledging me twice and staring at her the whole time. Its still jarring when I feel like Im less than someone else though. Especially so blatantly. But I can still enjoy it because its nothing serious. You should keep that in mind though. The first 5 weeks youre here you wont be going into your trade. And on the 4th week youre on Kitchen Prep cleaning their kitchen. And no youre not getting paid. And yes it is mandatory. Keep that in mind as well. I know Ive only said bad things but this is still an amazing opportunity like I said in the beginning. It just REALLY falls on you to make the most of it. If you can deal with all that for some free education this is the place for you.

I attended in 1999 and Im glad it looks like things have improved. It was pretty bad back then. More like a minimum security prison than any sort of education center. I did get my HS diploma, some basic welding knowledge, and a couple of PC repair certifications. Mostly I learned that I could have gained those same skills on my own while not giving up my freedom. A couple of staff had a long term impact on me (Craig Jackson who led the high school program and Jay who taught the PC services trade), but most of them were there begrudgingly and seemed to carry hostility towards the students. The food was awful and they had 6+ people to a room. There was no privacy, no freedom of movement. That was a very long time ago, though.

Its an ok place now and then food is ok. The staff here depending on who is working at the moment are cool. Dinner sucks thought. If your not a big fan of walking you will have to walk everywhere on campus.

Graduated in 2000! Great experience, its what you make of it like anywhere else in life, if you want booze and drugs its there, if you want to better your life and build some structure its also there, it comes down to a choice. Good luck!

In 05 to 08 it was a great experience for me. They offer pretty much what your looking for, from a G.E.D to a high school diploma. A trade that would cost major bucks to get courses for, clothes for the trade. An allowance for whatever you choose. A gym, movie theater, rec room, game room, pool. If you choose to go, please stock up on Raman, it could save you if you miss dinner or put a couple of bucks in your pocket. And last piece is critical STAY AWAY FROM THE EGGS. They will tear your stomach up. I wish i could go back and do it again with the same people.

To get a staff to take you seriously, mention ASAP , when leaving a voice message. Afterwards, be as vilgelant as can be for them to work with you.Racist and unprofessional staff; especially towards Native Americans. Very appalled at the treatment I received. After three months of trying to get a hold of the warehouse and other departments, Ive FINALLY found the loophole of saying ASAP on their voice machine. Even with this help, I still hope they get sued one of these days.

I thought I would be worthless my whole life, crushed under the boot of minimum wage, but CJCC helped me turn my life around. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about doing better, those who come that are immature, disrespectful, etc will just fall back into the same bad habits and get involved with drugs, alcohol or sex and be terminated. Those who are mature enough to change, or were just people like myself, in a bad spot, this is a godsend.

The Job Corps program is at best a mediocre program. The education given in the high school would not pass the standards of any high school that I know of. The Office Administration program, if they still call it that, is something that anyone who has tinkered with any of the Microsoft Office programs would have figured out by themselves. The administration is woefully disorganized. Security is nonexistent. Fighting back in self defense is grounds for termination. The reason that my review is not one star is because the living arrangements are nicer than other places I have seen, and the residential advisers are actually decent people. I do not recommend this for anyone who has another option.

Honestly, this place has changed who I am a lot. I learned computer repair here, but I also learned to not expect anything helpful from any management here, a lot of the staff try their hardest while their managers overwork them, dont train them, and in a whole dont care about the human condition around here. I knew many students who didnt get their training because the staff took their opportunity away due to just pure cruelty. I havent got a dental appointment the whole time Ive been here, despite asking multiple times. Im glad that Im getting to move on from this place soon, but if I knew about the condition of this campus before I came, I would have bought a plane ticket to go to another center. If youre concidering coming to this campus just because its bigger than most in the US, or because it has more trades than other centers, dont. Ive been here a year and a month and I wouldnt want anyone I cared about to be treated like this because this place breaks more people than it makes. Honestly, dont come here.

It was a good learning experience, but there was a lot of drama, drugs, booze and other things on center. I graduated in 14 After a few months on center there was an increase in drugs, fights, and sex. There was an outbreak of whooping cough, and they didnt send the two students who brought it on center home. Instead they let the students stay on center and infect the whole center. Wellness was really bad, I have nerve damage in my leg because of all the antibiotics they put me, wrong diagnosis for a kidney infection. Oh I can go on but I wont.
