5/11/21Ive been at this school for 8 years, and I am in seventh grade. I am giving this school a four star for a number of reasons. First, the teachers here in 7/8 are very nice and chill. The students are also nice, but some can be inappropriate at times. It is pretty easy to make friends, because every type of personality is here. The only major complaint that I have is that the teachers are basically getting told what to do, and they dont have decision-making in things that they do. The school would be much smoother if the teachers ran it. The open space is different, but you can adapt and get used to it. We do get excessive days off, but as a student, im not complaining. And if you are looking to come here in 7/8, dont expect much homework at all. Anyway, I reccomend.

Graduated from here a couple years ago. No regrets. My brother still goes here. Not too bad, the school only gave me mild trauma (better than most). Solid 2/5 stars.

My math education was severely stunted not only did they not teach math in order they never taught me how to subtract I had to learn that in high school. They repeatedly taught the same history class because changes in curriculum. One of there teachers picked me up by my hair. The school didn’t have smart boards in every class room at the time I went there which they advertised. After I left my friends a grade lower than me said that during the night the school was shot and a bullet was in the wall they had photo evidence and the school claimed that it never happened and told kids not to tell their parents.

Im a seventh grader that attends this school, and Ive been going to Menlo since Kindergarten. Its been a generally okay school for me, but I dont have anything else to compare it to, so I dont know. Most of the middle school teachers are fairly nice and qualified, (I dont really know many of the new lower school teachers) but the rest of the staff are kind of bad at the job? Its not a horrible school, but its a very chaotic, and that is really my only complaint.

We visited from Texas to share Halloween week with our granddaughter and Menlo had a Harry Potter themed event. Parents and staff went all-in and we had a great time. We served as teachers aides on another day and I witnessed caring and attentive dedication by the staff in all aspects of their job performance. Im glad my grandchild is here.

(Edit 3/16/2021 - It is a very good school highly recommended)Before you stop reading this, I want someone to some of what I wrote into thought. I would give it at least a 4 out of 5, but really it doesnt deserve it. It is almost like the people here are trying to tell you that this is the best school ever. This is just me, but I really like to learn in an actual classroom where you couldnt hear Mr. Pernod or someone yelling at a kid every couple of seconds. Also, if a teacher writes a google classroom code on a whiteboard or something, everyone can put it into their chromebooks even if they arent in the class. The teachers also dont really know how to deal with discipline. They usually just yell at the kids or make every single kid be punished for a couple of kids actions. Also, some of the kids are very inappropriate, and they are like a spreading disease. There are plenty of kids that are completely nice and never curse or anything, but others are toxic. They spread the cursing and inappropriateness to other innocent people. Whomever picked the current Menlo building does not know what a normal school is like. normal schools dont have pillars, concrete floors, or four stories, and Menlo has all of those. I went to a catholic school for four years, and even though Menlo is a huge improvement, they still arent as good as they used to be. None of the teachers let you be independent except Mrs. Harraman and Mr. Cycyk, and I wonder why they are my favorite. I feel like we are too monitored, in terms of chromebooks. I mean, it makes sense to put security programs and stuff on them, but is NetOp vision is one of the worst things. It makes sense to put something to see what your students are doing, but thats what feet were made for. Like, sometimes I could be at home working on a Science Fair project, and then one of the teachers spams me with, NetOp vision would like to share your screen. Oh, and theres another creepy thing. It literally asks you to share your audio. I dont know if it means the computer audio, or the microphone audio, but either way I uncheck that box all the time. Another bad thing about NetOp is whenever you click the cancel button when it asks to share your screen, it just will keep spamming you until you click share. Whats the point of even having a cancel button if you cant even click it. I know this is kind of critical, but I really do not like the open space at ALL. The old school was way better because there are real classrooms, and we actually got to laugh in other classes besides Math. I mightve given a 4 star rating, but maybe next year. Im sorry Menlo, but Im getting more and more excited to leave for high school.

I go to this school!! Menlo is great and all, and the teachers are great!! We usually get homework just about everyday in 6th grade. 5th grade dont get very much homework though. Its great too, cause every grade gets to go to a over-night trip!! And they all are educational!! Like in 5th grade, you go to camp, and you learn how to survived in natures, and 6th grade, you go to Cedar Point. Great school!!

THE EDUCATION IS GREAT. MY SON LOVES THE SCHOOL AND THE TEACHERS DO REALLY WELL WITH GETTING INVOLVED AND KEEPING THE KIDS INVOLVED. ON THE OTHER HAND THE SCHOOL HAS TO MANY UNNECESSARY DAYS OFF AND THE TEACHERS AND STAFF WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING WITH THE PARENTS I FEEL ARE CLUELESS WHEN IT COMES TO QUESTIONS. 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I HAD QUESTIONS AND EITHER GOT BRUSHED OFF OR COMPLETELY IGNORED. AND GOOD LUCK GET THRU ON THIER PHONE SYSTEM NO ONE IS EVER ANSWERING.

Middle school student here (7th grade). Teachers are really nice for the most part, and although they can be immature, the students are pretty nice, in the year Ive been here theres been no major fights or anything. We still have recess in middle school so thats a plus. We also dont have too much homework (7th grade gets between 20 and 70 mins a night, usually not more). This was a major upgrade from the disgusting public school I had went to before, and I would recommend this to people who are looking for a good gifted school. Although there is a few issues, MPA is on the whole, a pretty good school

My 4th and 1st grader began learning here this school year. I have to say that I love that it is diverse (Black, white, hispanic, egyptian, asian, etc, you name it). We had a few issues with them adjusting but they are so much better now!! It is a school for gifted K-8th graders, you do have to test to get in. But the school encourages creativity and freedom to move around (reasonably) which gifted children need in order to be their WHOLE selves.
