We’re so glad that we chose to send our two boys to this Martial Arts program. Everyone is professional and truly cares about the success of each individual student. I love that belts aren’t just given but that they are earned.We also chose to send them to their summer program which has been nothing but awesome. Our boys have come home happy everyday and are eager to return the following week.

Got to meet a bunch of students and their teachers at a Blue Crabs game and was so impressed with how polite and well behaved they were. Speaks volumes for what they are learning at Hapmudo... respect that goes beyond the classroom!!

Hapmundo is amazing with my 5 year old son. Their school age program is amazing. They help him during school with keeping him on task. The instructors set a positive role model for the kids to follow. 5 starts everyday. My child doesnt want to leave in the afternoons!

Hapmudo is AMAZING!! The programs are organized, the staff is professional, and the environment is designed such that the children actually LEARN MARTIAL ARTS! The after-school program is structured, educational, nurturing...I can’t say enough about it! Send your child here and you will be very pleased that you did. We were at another place and researched others. I can tell you that this is the best in a wide area. It’s convenientlyblocated in Clinton, MD and there is ample parking. There are tots learning as well as adults of all ages. I highly recommend Hapmudo!

We are SO incredibly glad to have found this amazing gym! The time, patience, and love that the staff put into the students is above and beyond that of other gyms I have interviewed. Like everyone else, we were uncertain how things would change with classes during COVID-19, but Master Barrientez, Master Dodd, and staff have really taken every precaution to ensure our kids stay safe, while doing what they love. Cant express just how grateful I am for the Hapmudo family! Both my children have grow significantly from the impact and the culture of Yong Sung Lee Hapmudo. It is one of the most family friendly, professional and consistently great organizations in the Washington metropolitan area. The brand of martial arts is awesome, but the culture is what sets it apart. It is a culture of honor, respect, hard work and responsibility. Hapmudo has been a great experience thus far for my kids. Weve been with the Clinton studio since July 16, my kids are maturing and blossoming right before my eyes. I have been a student at the Martial Arts Studio for about four years now. This Martial Arts Studio has helped me to grow in many ways. I did not have a healthy life style when I started. I had some anger issues, lacked confidence, and was very inactive. But through the years of training at the studio, I have developed several techniques to control my emotions, I have built up the confidence to start working on being certified to help teach in the Martial Arts Style, and I have built up a physical fitness that surprises many. Like many martial art studios, this studio has taught me techniques to defend myself in both situations and fights, but unlike other martial art studios, this style has focused on helping me grow as a person. Both the Master and the Head Instructor take the time to check on me if I seem out of sorts during class. They have also help to push me so that I could reach a goal I never imagined that was in my reach. The first lesson they taught me, I will never forget, anyone can punch and kick, but a true martial artist grows and tries to become a better person. I owe a lot Yong Sung Lee Hapmudo Martial Arts because they truly have helped me to become a better person.

Our son loves attending Hapmudo Studios in Clinton MD. When he began the program, he was extremely shy and often afraid to go into class to participate. Master Barrientez and Mr. Dodd never forced him to come into class. They encouraged and paired him with other students until he was comfortable to participate on his own. The studio is now our second home, our son is excelling in the program even helping to acclimate incoming new students to the program. Long gone is the shy kid who would not talk! Great program!

We have been a member of YSL Hapmudo Studios in Clinton MD for over 6 years now. My husband and I are truly blessed to find a program that not only cares for the progress of the child in martial arts, but also reiterates to them the importance of doing good in school, and being a good and respectable child in and outside of the home. The program itself helped our daughters become confident in themselves; and yet, still be humble and recognize and respect authority wherever they are. Furthermore, it supported the discipline and values that we were teaching the kids at home. My oldest son attended Hapmudo from Kindergarten until about 4th grade(2009-2013). We were very pleased that homwork was ALWAYS completed and the center is very intimate and family oriented. My youngest son will be attending Kindergarten the 2016-2017 school year and will be signed up as well. Keep up the good work!

The owner was a decent guy. He just wouldnt be straight with me, and made me conclude that every one paid a different rate at this McDojo. My question was simple. How much for a 10yr old to join youre school... This question turned into a used car sale as he kept trying to sell me on their holiday sale intro package. Finally I got to watch a class in action! Luckily I caught the 6-10yr old class. Unfortunately I failed to witness their 5 star performance. Instead, that nights instructor was bulling one of his young students by yelling DO YOU WANNA LOOK PRETTY as they performed some basic punches. Dude was in the kids face! The kid was roughly 6-9 years old tops and was putting in some effort, but he was clearly a beginner! Now Ive seen alot of McDojos in my day but never seen an abusive stand up comedy routine. The whole time I was hoping the kids parent would smack the instructor with a chair. But no, the poor kid had the whole class laughing at him. having had my fill of bullshido, I complained to the managers helper telling her that tonights instructor needs to be fired for the way he is treating that kid and walked out. Personally I refuse to pay for my children to be mentally scarred by an instructor, when public school will do that for free. But hey, different strokes for different folks. Hapmundo totally failed to live up to its multiple 5 star reviews that night and definately lost my families business!!! But go check em out and make your own opinion. Just dont be fooled by the lack of paper hats as they serve you a bigol pile of bullshido with unsalted fries.

My son, Keteyian, started YSL as a shy 5 year old who was full of energy. Although we had interactions with YSL in the past (my niece earned her black belt there as well) we jumped to the opportunity of utilizing their after school program. Even in the after school program I started to notice changes in his attitude. Simple things such taking the initiative to clean up his toys and room without being asked, cleaning up his plate after dinner and taking pride in everything that he did.When we decided to place him in full time classes I was nervous – other than school he has never been in a structured class setting. Although each and every class is taught with no nonsense it is also taught with love and compassion. Master Barrientez makes kids feel like they are a part of something. I learned that Hapmudo is much more than just physical contact. It is learning self-discipline, patience, self-confidence and respect to say the least.The teachings that he learned are easily displayed even today through his mannerisms and interaction with people. In the 6th grade he met someone and immediately bowed and said, “Thank you, Sir”. The gentlemen said that he must be in martial arts and it shows.From the summer program, testing events, banquets, holiday events, demonstrations and after school program YSL provides kids from all walks of life the opportunity to shine in any capacity.5 Stars is definitely not enough!!

I strongly believe enrolling my child in YSL HAPMUDO STUDIOs is the greatest act as a parent I did for him. We live in a rough world, YSL STUDIOS teaches our children how to live in this world and be humble, honorable, respectful as well as how to defend oneself. We all know the pressures our children face from their peers, I feel along with my parenting YSL HAPMUDO Studios teaches the self esteem my child needs to make the proper choices we all pray our children will make when faced with the pressures from his peers. I worried less about him growing up in this harsh world. The role models at this studio are second to none. I am so thankful that I found such a wonderful place, and family he found at YSL HAPMUDO Studio.
