In just a month, we have seen a positive change in our son.! He is more confident, focused, disciplined, and just overall happy and excited to be apart of a karate family. We love this place! My son started 5 weeks ago and already passed a stipe test, it’s all due to his hard work and his amazing leaders. I cant say enough about Guidos Martial Arts Academy. When my kids were looking to start their martial arts journey, Guidos was the only place I would consider attending. The staff is amazing and the instructors do a tremendous job at teaching their craft. My kids have grown, not only in their physical skills, but in their focus and confidence as well. Besides regular class opportunities to learn martial arts, there is also a leadership team of students that are great role models for the younger students. The demonstration team is also a way for students to get involved and show the community the great things they are learning. Guidos is the best in town and became our karate family.

I first met Sensei Guido while he and his students were doing a demonstration for the dojo.  At the time, I was very uneducated about karate, and thought it was a fighting sport, and had no idea it was anything beyond that.  My 5 year old son thought it looked fun, so we decided to take him to a free first class and see what it was about.  When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by not only the Sensei, but the parents and students as well.  Sensei sat down with us and explained a lot of different aspects of karate, what they represented, and he really opened my eyes to what it’s all about (not just fighting).  After class we were a bit worried our son wouldn’t properly fit in with the other students, both socially and academically, because he was one of the youngest there.  Sensei assured us that he did great, and it was just going to take time.  Not surprisingly, he was absolutely correct.  Within just a few classes, he started making friends, was able to follow commands, and most importantly he was enjoying it.  I am a homeschooling mom, and finding (quality) friends for my children to socialize with can be tricky.  I am thrilled with the socialization that not only my son gets, but I get as well.  I have never been somewhere where I have been welcomed as much as I have been with the people of this establishment.  If you ever have any questions or concerns everyone there is ready and willing to talk or answer questions.  It is such a wonderful family to be a part of.  It has always been obvious to me that Sensei Guido takes pride in his academy, and wants what is best for you and your family.  My son looks up to him, and I truly believe that he is such a great role model for him.  I would recommend this academy to anyone looking for a place to send their child, or even people who aren’t looking for it.  I really can’t say enough good about this place.  I hope if you are reading this and trying to decide on a place for you and/or your child to go you will give it a try!

Weve tried every martial Arts studio in town before we landed at Guidos. The others seemed ok but there was something missing. We found it at Guidos. The kids love it. The parents love it. Very friendly family atmosphere and a wonderful balanced and age-appropriate approach to teaching each class. Even during lock downs and pandemics, Guidos didnt miss a beat with live online classes. Wonderful!

This was just what my son needed to build his confidence and stay active, particularly during this time when he cant attend school in person. All of the staff is excellent and make for a fun and welcoming environment. Im so impressed they know everyones name at every class. Would give this ten stars if I could!

We started taking our kids here a little over a year ago and have had a great experience. I even started taking classes too! The staff is friendly and helpful and all the instructors are great and make learning martial arts fun. Throughout the ordeal of three past few months they have gone the extra mile to continue to provide martial arts training virtually and have even been able to reopen for on the mat classes while maintaining social distancing and a stringent disinfecting routine. We feel safe bringing our kids in for class and couldnt be happier with the experience weve had here!

My son has been taking classes for a little over a month and the confidence and drive to do better is the greatest reward. He’s naturally a smaller kid and that has been hard for him to accept. Since starting classes his confidence has improved so much and he talks about how strong he feels and how happy he is with karate. This program is more than I could have asked for.

Guidos is much more than martial arts to our family (although they have high quality programs and instructors). Guidos has helped our son develop discipline, confidence and relationships. The environment is clean, professional, and like family. The program cycle is educational for the whole child not just physically. The instructors are warm, encouraging and skilled. We love it here! My son and I both take classes. It’s awesome to have something we can share together. The instructors and community are also amazing and so so supportive and encouraging. It’s also been really helpful to see them pivot in a time when we couldn’t be in person and begin to offer virtual classes. Way to innovate!!

We started our two boys a year and a half ago and the increase in confidence, focus, and responsibility has been phenomenal. My wife and I are both teachers in the Clovis Unified School district and we both also coach academic and athletic teams at the elementary and intermediate levels. We have both stolen some of the teaching techniques they use with their students to use in our classrooms and on the teams we coach. They are genuinely invested in seeing ALL students earn success. Nothing is given, everything is earned. I have seen more tears of joy and pride in this dojo than I can count. My oldest son, who was painfully shy and had zero confidence, is now a teaching assistant for the beginner classes. If your son or daughter needs an environment to learn positive interactions with peers and adults and learn to be a successful adult, this is the place for you.

My five year old has taken classes at Guido’s for over a year now, my three year old started in March. The staff is extremely friendly, is always professional, and truly care about their students. During shelter in place, all their lessons went virtual, they provide 5 days a week classes for all students via Zoom. They treat the students at a young age life lessons along with martial arts. It is a well rounded program! Thankful for all the staff, they definitely are like family to us all!

I love this place. They do everything they can for their students. When Covid struck they did not shut their doors, they moved their classes online to keep us safe. I am very appreciative they stayed open online, as it gave me something to do and a little structure to my day. The staff are wonderful. When joining, you definitely joining a second family.

Guidos Martial Arts has had such a positive influence on our son. The structure and processes in place here make it incredibly fun for him to participate and learn discipline at the same time. Amazing staff, they have taught my child for a couple of years now. And there is a major difference in the attitude and focus over all. Self defense, respect, it really does teach these kiddos skills that are lifelong.

I first met Shihan Guido when I was organizing a community event for my child’s school. Guido’s was a pleasure to work with. Even before the event they brought school supplies for the kids and helped us organize a fundraiser. The money raised went directly to the kids. My daughter showed interest in martial arts so I signed her up for an introductory course of classes. We’ve been here ever since. This is a great program and my daughter is really growing in all areas! We love being part of this school.

If you need a birthday party for active kids look no further!! Guidos donated a birthday party to my child’s school and I won it. It was one of the best parties for active children I have ever been to!! Master Guido was awesome!!! I told him our party was Star Wars themed before hand.When I arrived the table was set with Star Wars plates and bottled waters. He also had Star Wars dessert plates and napkins ready!!! All I had to bring was cake and favors!! Pizza drink paper supplies included!!At the party master guide was awesome!!! He started with a fun game while guests arrived. Then taught some basic skills. He was patient and kind to every child. One party kid was scared and when he finally joined mast Guido brought him him and gave him extra support! 2 kids got bumped and were crying. I almost stepped in but Master Guido handled it with ease!!! I was able to relax and enjoy!The kids got to kick bags and every child got yo break a board! My birthday boy got to do a Running kick!! He also got to help master Guido cut the cake with a huge sword!!! My boy loved it!!!! Thanks for making his day super special!!!

My son has been at Guido’s’s for a year and a half and we have seen tremendous growth in him. They care about their students and teach core values along with a comprehensive karate program. They have been absolutely amazing and when COVID hit they rallied and keep on going virtually. I was so impressed at how fast they adapted to moving classes online and how well run the classes are! It has been so good for my son during the stay at home orders. They also do weekly one on one check in’s virtually and it has been great to have the support. It’s not just an activity/sport it’s a support system and they really do everything they can to support not only the kids mentally and physically but also support the parents.

We strongly recommend Guido’s for anybody that wants to improve themselves but especially kids. They have the right approach and hold the kids accountable to the dojo’s principles while always making it fun!

What started as just watching my nephew in the dojo turned into me joining as well. Its an unbelievable workout and for someone who works in a not so good area of town its a big confidence booster knowing you can defend yourself if something were ever to happen. I have been thoroughly impressed by Guidos. My kids love it and I’ve appreciated how well they’ve adjusted to the COVID situation. They are offering fully online lessons and send a reminder text each day so that we don’t forget! I really like that they teach the kids how to behave in addition to karate.

Guidos Martial Arts Academy is the best dojo ever. This dojo does not only teach their students martial arts techniques but also teaches them about life and how to interact with people around them with respect, discipline and courtesy. The instructors are not only teaching them how to defend themselves physically but also teaching them how to deal with life in general and at the same time having fun while doing it. This dojo had helped us maintain structure and a sense of normalcy in our sons life when everything around him is crumbling because of this Covid 19 pandemic. All the instructors and everyone who works for this dojo are the best! Right away, you can tell that they really care about their students and how they behave when they are around others. In this dojo, they are going to make sure that whatever level the students are they have earned it with hard work and discipline. I had the opportunity to learn some self-defense moves and be a part of the adult/teenage class for the summer. It was a very rewarding experience to earn my yellow belt. The instructors are very positive and encouraging, as well as the other students being very helpful and encouraging. They also have a few minutes every class where they chat about little things you can do to live your life better like being respectful and looking for the positive things in life.

Guidos Martial Arts Academy is a very great place to train. I have been training with Mike Guido for about 6 years now. Still working the 40 hour work week, making as many classes that injuries my work schedule and life would allow.I remember through the years about his visions in wanting to create a Martial Arts School that would last a lifetime. When I was maybe a blue or green belt at the time he had visited a super show in Las Vegas that implanted great seeds of success in his thoughts. Guido implemented changes through the years pass down to his students. Watching him through the years I have seen him not just talk the talk of a martial artist; but walk the walk in everything he has shared.He is a valued person to the communitys of Clovis and Fresno areas. He has done many demos and bully preventions through the years for these school districts and in guiding our youth.I was very fortunate to achieve my black belt on March 18, 2017 and I am very grateful to know this man inside and outside of the dojo. I decided to wait until we were approaching our one year mark before we left a review. We were new to the area a year ago and searched high and low for the perfect place for our children, we are so thankful to have found Guidos. We called places and visited different dojos, during the day they are all closed, during the evenning they are all busy teaching classes! My son found Guidos during a community event, an 8 year martial artist came up to me, gave me a firm handshake and introduced himself. ALL the kids were respectful and engaging and were able to answer all my questions confidently. We took the information came home and did our homework, this place is open 6 days a week, wait for all day long!! Ok, so we came to the dojo and took a class, again all the kids were super respectful! The classes are amazing, Renshi trains on the mat with the kids! He holds the children accountable and builds their confidence up every single time they come through these doors. Mat chats are our favorite time of class, the owners motto is, Building Champions in Life and he lives by this. It not only about kicks and punches but about building character, his black belt principles: respect, integrity, courtesy, discipline, self- control, indomitable- spirit. He talks about choices and consequences and works seamlessly with parents. My son needed help with discipline and self control, I would mention the problems were having and he would incorporate into class! My son who is 6 is doing extremely well, his behavior has changed dramatically, his confidence is amazing and he feels proud when he walks through the doors. My daughter who is 11 is also doing extremely well here as well and is a very confident girl and well trained martial artist. I have seen so many kids come into this dojo and transform in to such amazing confident individuals! Did I mention that most students here are 4.0 students and parents here constantly talk about how their children grades improved!?! Or that he is consistently training his staff each week and that he travels on his days off to train with the best martial artist around so that he can continue to train his students to be the best in the area? Seriously, I cant say enough about this wonderful place which we jokingly call our second home. Bring your kids to places where the kids are held accountable, where they are able to grow into confident children, they will become champions in life!
