Simon is great. I bought a camera with too much horsepower, and I didnt know how to use it, so I realized that I would need a class on using the DSLR camera. It was the best thing I could have done, and taking it with Simon was a stroke of genius. Already my photos are 100% better, and now Im much happier with my purchase of the camera. I can thank Colorado Photography School, and I would heartily recommend them to anyone that wants to take better photos.

I took a couple classes from Simon, and both were great. There is so much available online, but if you need a real person to talk to, Simon is really wonderful. He gave me the courage and the know-how to start my own business!

Taught me how to understand the camera better.Learned to adjust my camera settings manually. Helps to make crisper photos in different environments.Had a little bit of a learning curve, but Simon is good at encouragement, enlightenment, and lots of hands on examples to see the differences.Excellent place to begin developing your own style.

I have truly enjoyed and benefited from my classes with Simon. They are enjoyable, light and, most importantly, informative. The Landscape class was especially useful with the time in the field and the opportunity to just visit about all aspects of photography. My photography has definitely become more creative, and more productive.

Recently purchased a new higher end DSLR and needed to get going for an upcoming trip. Simon was terrific at providing direction and realistic information along with giving me reasonable expectations. Also, he provided me with just the right amount of information to get started and be encouraged by what I was able to initially do with the camera. Not only is there good direction into the use of the camera, but other options to learn how to think to allow yourself to be creative and take good pics. Looking forward to more classes. His instruction is clear, practical and he makes it fun!

Simon does a great job of getting you up and running and understanding how to get the most out of your camera. I took several of his classes (Intro to DSLR, Portrait, Off Camera Flash) and they all were great. He helped me get out of auto mode on the camera and develop a vision of what I want a photo to be before pressing the shutter button. Ive moved on and started my own photo business, I couldnt have done it without Simon!

I just finished the three-part Understanding Your DSLR course and cannot recommend it highly enough. Not only does Simon explain how to create the shots you want, you practice taking pictures with him to reinforce the concepts. For anyone interested in better understanding your digital camera and improving the overall quality of your photos, this is a must-do class!

I never understood all the camera lingo and tech. talk but after taking the understanding your DSLR 3 part class I had much more understanding of how my camera works. Simon is also very good at responding to emails and answering any questions you have. Definitely recommend any classes you are thinking about taking!

Simon @ Colorado Photography School was very friendly and provided an easy hands-on learning environment. His classes were small enough to get personalized attention. He provided lots of real world scenario to describe the use of his techniques.

My fourteen-year-old son and I took both the Composition and DSLR classes together. I highly recommend Simons courses. He is wonderful at giving you just the right amount of knowledge to get to the answers on your own. Just the right amount of instruction and hands-on experience. As someone who came to rely on the automatic setting of the camera, I now prefer the manual settings to get the real shot I want.

I first met Simon at my friends wedding. I told him my interest in becoming a photographer and he was very helpful. He gave great advice about picking a camera! Once I got that I was ready to start some classes. Having just had my 2nd kiddo Ive only been able to take the DSLR class. I love it!! Simon is a wonderful teacher and has so much knowledge. I am hooked on his teaching style and classes. Now to find some time to take more classes! Thank you Simon for helping me start down the path to my future! Highly recommended! I wanted to take this class over something from PPCC so I could skip all the BS thats associated with college. This class is exactly what I was looking for! Simon Andrews, the instructor, is knowledgable, patient and personable. He is also adept at explaining different concepts so they are easy to follow and apply.The class time may seem long but goes by very fast and is chock full of useful information. Simon is also easy to contact if you have a question about photography. I would definitely take a class from him again and would recommend him to my friends and family.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Simon is beyond an amazing teacher. I was intimidated at first getting into photography classes but Simon make me feel so comfortable. He takes time to make sure you understand what hes teaching you. He has a great personality and adds humor to the class which makes it even more fun. Simon was an absolutely amazing teacher. He teaches to all types of learning styles, I personally learn kinetically and visually so this course was perfect for me! I have always had a passion for photography since the very first time I picked up a camera, but after taking Simons course my passion was only further ignited. He pushed me to believe that I could make something out of my photos and I have since started my own photography business.I am a graduate of almost every single class Simon has to offer and I promise he wont let you down. Hes a very energetic and enthusiastic teacher, which in my opinion is the single most important characteristic in a teacher. Not to mention his intriguing stories are always a plus!I do not live close to Colorado Springs its actually about an hour and a half from where I live (almost 2.5 hours with traffic) but that never stopped me from attending one of Simons course. Hes such an inspirational teacher that the drive didnt even bother me, because to me the information that I learned in class was so beneficial to me. I do however make it a point to stop and visit with Simon every time Im in Colorado Springs.I cant stress enough about how much information I learned in these course. I feel that my skills have dramatically improved since taking these photography courses. I actually received a compliment about it from a customer just this week! My customer mentioned it was pretty apparent that I had taken photography course and my skill levels were at expertise.Simon has made such a enormous impact in my life that I have already booked him to photograph my wedding. I refuse to use anyone but him! I truly believe that hes the best in the business! I am a beginner photographer with a new DSLR camera. I signed up for the Composition and DSLR class and they did not disappoint. They gave me confidence in using my camera off the auto mode and how to think critically and creatively before snapping the picture.

I received the DSLR class as a Christmas gift and it was awesome. So much so that I signed up for the Lightroom class and Photoshop class to learn more. Simon is extremely knowledgeable about photograph and has exceptional skills conveying difficult concepts to his students. I am now more comfortable with my camera and post-production editing thanks to Simon. I highly recommend all classes with him. In fact, I plan on taking some additional classes he offers to learn even more. Again, highly recommended.

Simons Landscape class was fantastic. He perfectly balanced practical DSLR skills with the essential elements of composition. I learned more in one half-day with Simon than a semester long class. His wealth of knowledge and wide variety of photography experience is evident. Simon also provides great recommendations for useful equipment and software without having to break your budget. I definitely plan on taking another class in the future.

Simon, the owner and instructor, is such a wonderful person to learn from. I owned my DSLR for two years trying to figure it out on my own (unsuccessfully). His three week DSLR course broke down all of the basics and he did an excellent job of incorporating explanations with practical applications. I will definitely be returning for more of his courses!

Taking classes here was definitely worth the investment. In three short classes I was able to not only understand the functions of my DSLR but use the creative controls to get the effects I wanted and have an understanding about composition issues! I learned so much! I definitely have a good foundation to build on now thanks to Simon and his patience and excellent teaching skills!

I took the DLSR, Composition and Lightroom classes and I would definitely recommend them to others. I am a freelance writer and fledgling travel writer, and with that comes the needed ability to be at least a proficient photographer. So, I bought my first DSLR camera and, not having a clue how to operate this daunting piece of machinery, looked online for a photography class. Lucky for me I quickly came across the Colorado Photography School and signed up for the Composition class and the DSLR classes. I emailed a few questions to Simon Andrews and he quickly responded. The minute I met him at my first class, my photog-anxiety was alleviated. Friendly and welcoming, Simon assured me that I would learn how to master my camera. His classes are limited to about six people, so he is able to give individual attention. He has remarkable patience and doesnt flinch when asked the same questions numerous times! He breaks concepts down to manageable, concrete bits and repeats, repeats, repeats major concepts until they click! But, beyond that, in Simon youve got a teacher who is obsessively passionate about photography, and that makes his teaching style energetic and entertaining. His mantra is You have to go slow to go fast...practice, practice, practice. He truly wants his students to succeed. I will definitely sign up for more classes.

I have taken the three part class on how to understand your DSLR. Simon really knows how to teach efficiently and his joy in both teaching and photography makes the classes fun and the information retainable! With out a doubt, any one who walks away from these classes, will learn something new.

Im a novice photographer, and I highly recommend CO Photography School. Ive taken four classes from Simon and learned so much from each class (composition, DSLR, Lightroom and Photoshop). A month or so after taking the composition and DSLR classes I did a photography workshop at Denver Botanic Gardens. After seeing my photos the instructor said I had an intuitive sense of shape. I credit Simons composition class for that. It really helped me to see things and analyze them like a pro photographer does. I still have a long way to go, but I feel I have a solid foundation after taking these classes. Simon is a great teacher, and strives to make sure everyone in the class is on the same page, and no one gets left behind. If youre thinking about learning how to use your camera, or want to improve your photography skills Simon wont let you down.

March 1, 2017 - After taking the High Dynamic Range (HDR) course this past weekend, I wanted to revise my previous review (listed below). HDR is clearly another one of Simons awesome courses with some very practical applications. For as advanced as DSLR cameras are these days, they are still limited when it comes to compensating for scenes that have both well-lit and dark areas. If you expose for the lighted areas, the dark areas will be lost. If you expose for the dark portions of the scene, the lighted areas will washed out. Having a good understanding of HDR and Photomatix will make all the difference in solving this lighting challenge. Simons course is only a few hours long, and you will take away from it the skills needed to bring your photography to a new level. As a person who is planning to get into real estate photography, I can see that HDR will be an invaluable technique for producing high-quality real estate photos. I highly recommend Simons HDR course, but I also recommend that you at least have a good understanding of your DSLR camera and Lightroom before taking this course (classes in both DSLR and Lightroom are offered by the Colorado Photography School, and they are well worth the investment of time and money).February 2017 - So far, I have taken the Composition and DSLR classes at the Colorado Photography School, and I must say that my knowledge of photography has grown significantly in the short amount of time that I have spent in Simons classes. Not only is Simon Andrews an experienced, professional photographer, he is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable instructor as well. I recommend the Colorado Photography School to any person who is looking to become a better photographer regardless of their current experience level. I definitely look forward to taking more classes, and advancing in my skills and knowledge as a photographer. Thank you.

As an avid scuba diver, and would be underwater photographer, it was time to learn the craft. After years of using a point-and-shoot underwater camera/strobes in auto mode, I elected to buy my first fully adjustable camera. Through the composition class, 3-part dSLR class, and now the 2-part Lightroom class, I have learned A TON! I highly encourage prospective students to follow the same class track, as each builds on the last.Throughout the series of classes, Simon has made a point to tailor the information and exercises to my underwater photography and scuba diving needs. Though he is not a scuba diver, he uses his technical expertise to formulate suggested best practices in the scuba diving realm. Sign up! Enjoy the fun!
