Just passed through whilst visiting Columbia, and I was quite impressed. The trees were outstanding and tall, the buildings were old but still looked good, and there was a fairly distinctive campus feel despite being in a rather large city. The palmettos make the campus much nicer and southern-feeling, and the various live oaks around campus give a very “Old South” feel. Cannot attest to the academics, though I did see a lot of “frat boy-types” and wondered if this school has that type of culture. The few people I chatted with were very nice and welcoming, and I would recommend visit the McKissick Museum or other places around here to get a sense of the culture and history of the school. Quiet and good place to focus on your school away from other busy cities. There are great teachers who are willing to help you if you ask. A lot services are provided by the school to help students with their school and social work. It get boring sometimes because it is a small city but overall there are a lot of activities to do

Fantastic campus setting. First time visit and was impressed with the architecture and upkeep of the entire area. It will be a great 1st year experience for my son.

Beautiful campus with many green spaces and restaurants nearby! I am so happy to call University of South Carolina my home away from home and I have no regrets of coming here for my undergraduate education! Go Cocks!

A small University with scattered buildings. a lot of trees in one side and footpads is really nice specially near by the stadium side. we enjoyed the beautiful fall color over there. overall its a nice experience to visit that University.

I did my PhD here as an international student and the experience was somewhat jarring at first and there seems to be a great deal of tension at the university over perceived inequality in the grading metrics and greater politicization of the faculty. Nevertheless, there are some fantastic people present who take time out of their day to see to your requests unlike some universities where the process is conducted from a financial perspective than a human one.

The iniv was fine students dont wear masks Leaves a negative impression on those taking tours and other visitors If the people giving the tours and taking the tours are wearing masks and most others on campus arent it doesnt set well

Class sizes are unmanageable for professors. They took away spring break from students who desperately needed a break. “Wellness” days are a joke and have given no bit of relief. The students are burnt out and USC seems to only care about the money they are getting. Will not be returning in the fall.

As a student its really nice the people are friendly food is good. Working at Usc meh not really I dont have any terrible experiences there but Ive heard harsh stories. Overall Ill give it a 4.5 but Ill give it 5 star

Great school for any career interest. The dorms are very clean and I love the ROTC program here. The professors are very helpful and generous with their time to help with tutoring or extra help.

I never really heard of this place until we moved to the South. Then I saw a bunch of shirts with these roosters on them. Then one day I wandered down the road to Columbia just to see what the place was like. Then I found myself on this campus. It really seems like it has a party scene to it and it kind of reminds me of Arizona State University in some ways. It seems to be a fun place to go to school. The library was AMAZING! It even had an exhibit with some civil rights history items on display. I loved every bit of it. All and I think this is a great school. Nice and hilly too.

Visited here with my brother in-law during a trip to Columbia, SC. Loved the nice campus & the overall atmosphere during a short drive, however, it is probably not that huge compared to lots of universities in the USA. Later we attended an award giving ceremony where my niece was also a recipient. It was decent, disciplined and well organized.

The university is awesome. The disappointment in the selection of an unqualified president is immense. I am seriously thinking of stopping my contributions and protest. I love the faculty and students who should not be punished. How will the old and out of touch board change this mistake.? They must listen to the alumni and students. Go gamecocks

School is okay. Faculty is alright as far as engineering goes. But the entire school is run like a corporate fed by democrat money pushing agendas trying to milk money out of students, yet the staff treats students not as an individual, but as a subordinate of the staff members. As a nontraditional student I was treated with more respect and care at some fast food joints than this universitys offices.

Exceptional School that is seriously focused on its academic and athletic programs. It has a beautiful campus, and it very well may be the best in the state. It has many accommodation for students & there is constantly something to do. Now days, even during the summer since more kids are opting into staying on campus.

I got my Bachelors in Journalism in 2009 from the University of South Carolina. My experience at USC was absolutely amazing. All of my professors were exceptional and great mentors. The Journalism program exceeded my expectations and I couldnt have imagined going to any other school. The programs available to you, the different things you can do right on campus, the athletics... I loved everything about my experience. Hopefully Ill be going back soon for my Masters! Forever to thee!

Inadequate parking that you have to pay for. Courses with large classes have material online that costs $60 to access. Incoming freshmen have more priority when choosing classes than veterans. Most classes taught by teachers assistants with heavy accents.

No parking on campus. And most of the teacher do not care if 70% of the class fails or not. Always check rate my professor online before signing up for any courses. Also the campus is dangerous, dont listen to any of the pr done by the school claiming it is. I would not send my child to school here. I am a student and have one year left and once I am done I will never set foot back in Columbia unless I have to.

I have to be completely honest here this institutions Admissions department by far has to be the WORST group collectively in the country. The amount of struggle and dedication that Ive shown to attend my dream school has been utterly ignored. I have never seen such of a mass group of people who clearly do not care about the prospective students nor have any regards to upholding any consistency on communicating with you. USC will miss a lot of opportunities to gain great students due to their lack of professionalism in this department. I really want to put the names of all the people that Ive encountered however, they might not have treated everyone like they did me plus that only hurts them. But despite their efforts, I will persevere and become who I was meant to be regardless of any situation. If youre reading this to determine if USC is a good choice for you, here is some advice. Find you someone who has the juice, and get that person to work on your behalf because they do not work for the students they simply work for the check. I was told early today by an admissions rep. to explore other schools as to say youre not welcome to come here because you have less than perfect circumstances and dont know anyone. Admissions department here me loud and clear when I say Get behind thee satan.

Ok programs! Clemson is by far a better place to learn. Racism is definitely here, both ways.

Terrible instructors, This zip has between 11 to 22 registered sex offenders, poor transport and no fresh food is available if you want to go beyond the exorbitant meal plan. The campus is a food desert. Food desert+poor transit+dangerous criminals = Safe students? Warmer months mean Carolina Alerts regarding assaults on students, mostly female. A girl was almost kidnapped by a cabdriver. The TAs and instructors will not report cheaters so EVEN if YOU are diligent, and play by the rules, the slackers will get the same grade as you.Whats the point of a curve?

I called due to the fact, I wanted to attend until after I felt like I was judged by my name and race. It was not fair at all and I was transferred to the wrong the department and she stated that she could not transfer me back to the operator.

I am on my second year of grad school here. I love the university. Yes, parking is crap, but they havent tried to hide that in my opinion. Its in the middle of the city and to be expected. I find it appalling that so many say professors dont care. Ive had nothing but attentive and caring professors whove incorporated a ton of different learning methods and have been available by cell phone email and office hours. Ive gained a great education thus far and recommend this school.

My worst decision that I had taken to attend for this university. The city has no event at all. And the transportation so bad there, However for the academic most students complain that teacher there unhelpful and not care for them. They city also very dangerous. My recommendation to any one think to attend for this place change to any other there are 50 other state.

Whenever I think about my time here, only one thing really comes to mind: that they’re now three Starbucks on campus, along with a travelling Starbucks bicycle. This, I think, is an oppressive number of Starbucks.
