Tech Elevator is exactly what the reviews say. Everything is true. I had no coding experience, and got a job shortly after the program with a company that was matched to me through the pathway program. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I often joked to the people in my life (and my class) that my brain felt like soup. Its not easy, but it is WORTH IT. The instructors are all there to support you every step of the way. They celebrate every success you have and guide you through the bumps along the way. I am truly amazed by what a brain can retain in 14 weeks, but you have to be ready to work for it. If youre ready to make the change, these are the absolute best people to have on your side.

Tech Elevator changed my life, in just 3 months!Prior to TE I spent 20 years in academia performing life sciences research. However, I had gotten to a point where I was no longer satisfied with the work I was doing, and I wanted to do work that had real-world applications. I had a discussion with a friend, who is a programmer/microbiologist, and he suggested that I consider learning to program through a bootcamp.I chose Tech Elevator for a number of reasons. First, I read online reviews from former students, and they were *all* positive. Then I attended an informational open house to learn more about the program. I was particularly impressed with the depth of the Pathway Program, which runs concurrently with the technical program and teaches the soft skills that are important for maintaining a successful career. Finally, I had the opportunity to attend a Learn To Code Meetup event that was co-hosted by Tech Elevator. At this event, I got a taste of what it would be like to be taught by one of TE’s instructors. John Fulton spent a few minutes explaining a particular concept, which many of us in attendance were confused by (despite the best efforts of the other instructor, who was not from TE). In those few minutes I was able to clearly grasp what John was explaining, and I thought to myself, “If I am going to learn programming, I want to be taught by instructors like this!”I fully expected the program to be more challenging than graduate school, and it most certainly was! Going through TE was one of the hardest things I have ever done, BUT also one of the most rewarding!!! I hadn’t been that mentally challenged in a long time, but I loved it, and importantly I learned so much. Even on the days when I was mentally and physically exhausted, I had such a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction deep inside me. The support and encouragement that I receive from the admin staff, instructors (I had Brian and Rachelle, who are fantastic), Pathway directors, and the other members of my cohort was continuous and uplifting. If you are ready to go all-in, work tremendously hard, and, “Trust the process,” then Tech Elevator’s program is the right one for you. I did, and I received 3 job offers before graduation. I am now almost 2 months into my new career and loving every minute of it. My education at TE has set me up with a solid foundation on which to build a software development career, and I couldn’t be happier.

Short and simple, Tech Elevator starts slow, but then sprints through so much technical information, it can seem overwhelming. You will learn and it will be emotional. That said, they cover a wide enough base to give you a strong start on your path to becoming a successful programmer and give you plenty of support throughout the course. Everyone is very dedicated to seeing you succeed. What really sets TE apart is the Pathway Program where the Instructors do their best to prepare you for the real world job market and give you the help that you need to succeed in your job search.

Overall a great experience. I made lifelong friends, not just in other students but in the staff members as well. The instructors are incredibly knowledgable and amazing at sharing that knowledge. A job is not guaranteed once you graduate but they have some of the best placement numbers around. I obtained my current position through the matchmaking process, which is probably the distinguishing factor for Tech Elevator versus other bootcamps and very valuable as a new member of the tech field. I highly suggest the .NET course; John is hands down the best teacher Ive ever had the honor of learning from and Matt is on his way to be of the same caliber. I went from never looking at a single line of code to being a functional full stack developer in the span of a few months. It was exactly what I was looking for in a career change.

I can’t say enough positive things about this program. I was a stay at home mama for the last almost five years and was incredibly nervous about starting a career for the first time. I have a degree in Communications but zero experience. I had zero background in coding as well.To start off the instructors at Tech Elevator are beyond talented and caring. It truly blows my mind how brilliant they are. John made class exciting every day and he is always there if you need the extra support or help. Before leaving everyday he makes sure to ask if anyone needs assistance before heading out and he’s right there when you message him a question on his own free time. He truly is there to see you succeed. He is always asking what he can do to make the experience better. The Pathway Program was extremely helpful, from helping craft a resume, to mock interviews, to matchmaking where they help you make connections (which is ultimately what helped me secure a second interview and ultimately a new career). I didn’t know where to begin when it came to job searching and my technical interview skills needed a lot of practice. They provide all the help and support that you need.I am very thankful for the opportunity to work with such talented people and to be part of Tech Elevator. The program is tough, but it is more than worth it. I did my research before applying and they have a FIVE STAR review for a reason.

Stellar. I already miss it.Best investment Ive ever made. Was able to double my pay with my first job out of the program. Was able to start working as a developer 1 month after graduation. If youre considering whether to do Tech Elevator or not, heres your answer. Do. The challenges you overcome, the relationships you nurture, and the knowledge you build will create a better life. The gratification of truly investing yourself totally, and coming out some 3 months later, transformed, as an evolution of yourself, one of the best choices Ive ever made. The staff and teachers are exceptional. I was touched by how much they actually did care. Its a wonderful arrangement where students tenacious absorption of new material is matched by staffs support of rapid growth. A two-way street of success.I wont lie. This program is difficult. I considered a few times whether I could actually finish it. Ive never worked so hard in a class to just be doing okay. But it retrospect, the curriculum was a smart mixture of tech, to gain a foundation in web development, expedited.I honestly already miss my class, only 1 month after graduation. Unsurprisingly, the fierce pace of the program forms strong bonds within your group. This was a truly rewarding time, and 100% delivered on its goal to prepare us, and start with a job in tech/development.Value your own time. Value your own future. If youre willing to commit the time and effort,it will return to you in spades. Im glad I did.

If you are looking to join a coding bootcamp, I would highly recommend Tech Elevator. I graduated this August and had a very good experience. I was even able to land a job before graduation. The instructors are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The Pathway program does an incredible job of helping you learn how to present yourself to future employers. If there is a catch to the program, it is that nothing is handed to you. As good as the number are for job placements, if you do not put in the effort, you will have a very difficult time. Tech Elevator gives you all the tools you need but you have to personally put in the work to succeed.

Any bootcamp can teach you to code, but Tech Elevator is the only one I found that will teach you how to get a job as a developer. The coding education provided by TE is absolutely top-notch! Most of my cohort went in with little to no experience, but by graduation, we were competent in multiple programming languages, and spent our last two weeks developing a fully functional web application from scratch! The coursework was challenging, but well-paced, and the instructors are all experienced, friendly, and perpetually available to help you get unstuck (and you WILL get stuck). But the thing that truly sets TE apart from the rest is the Pathway Program. They will teach you how to tailor your LinkedIn, resume, and elevator pitch to attract and hold the attention of potential employers. They will teach you how to shine in HR, behavioral, and technical interviews, and give you practice sessions for each type of interview, both with staff and industry professionals. They have panel discussions with local developers and former students to help you understand what its like to work as a developer. In the second half of the program, there are several employer showcases, wherein large and small tech companies give presentations and field questions about their businesses and environments. After all that, the shining jewel of the program is the Matchmaking interview process. Every student gets interviews with several local tech companies and tech recruiters!Even after youve graduated, the TE staff is always available to help with job hunting, salary negotiation, on-the-job problems, and more. The program isnt cheap, but it would be a bargain at twice the price. In closing, if you are serious about getting into software development ASAP, theres no better place to go than Tech Elevator!

TLDR: Their program taught me how to code, and they helped me get a job with awesome coworkers that literally doubled my yearly income.I was in Brians class, and he is an excellent teacher. He helped us understand not only the larger concepts of object-oriented programming but also the syntax and methodology of writing all the languages covered. All of the teachers were extremely supportive and generous with their time - helping with troubleshooting and answering questions. They definitely go above and beyond to give you a solid grounding in programming. The Pathway Program is what sold me on the Bootcamp, and as awesome as the teachers are, it is without a doubt what makes Tech Elevator stand out among other bootcamps. Ben and Laura teach you about career options, interview types and tactics, and resume standards, and they also introduce you to potential employers who visit because they like to hire Tech Elevator graduates. Those connections and matchmaking helped me get interviews that led to job offers. To top it off, both the teachers and Pathway Program continue to support you after graduation. Honestly, if you are thinking about going into programming and arent afraid to work for it, go to Tech Elevator. It can change your life.

Tech Elevator was absolutely a critical turning point for me. After a layoff and being uninterested in pursuing my previous career path I knew I needed to do something different, something more fulfilling and rewarding. I came across Tech Elevator and the rest is history.I went from absolutely no previous experience in technology( I come from an arts background) to landing my first job in tech prior to graduation. The work was hard and at times I wanted to quit but the staff, instructors, and my classmates were very helpful and encouraging. I have 5 children ( 6 month old twins at the time) but with the proper support system I learned programming and was able to create a really cool web based application along two other students. Not only this, but the professional development aspect, which is a part of the program is really want helps you land a job. They are extremely committed to creating opportunity for the people of the program in every way possible.Like the saying goes, you get out what you put in. I put in a lot of hard work and long hours to learn coding and how to build applications. At my job there is more learning and training, the journey never ends. None of the journey would be possible if I had not decided to take a risk, change directions, put my head down, work hard and if Tech Elevator did not have such an incredible program to help my achieve my goals. Thank you all so much, my future will be totally different than what it would have been! For anyone reading this review, like I did a few months ago, I realize they are very critical to making a decision. Its not a cookie cutter, walk in the park situation. You will WORK very hard to learn these concepts but in the end its all worth it, I would gladly do it again.

The whole point of this program is simple, they teach you the skills needed to succeed as an application developer in the real world. Casey is an amazing instructor who never hesitates to take advantage of a teaching moment. Youll learn how to build a web app from front end to back end and everything in between. The course is very demanding but you will be rewarded with the skill set to succeed. The main selling point for Tech Elevator will be the job placement. Katie and the team will do wonders that will surprise you. They bring companies in to buy lunch for you just in hopes you will apply with their company. Theres also a meeting every week about how to improve your career and manage it after the course and for years to come. They teach you how to be a professional in the workplace and what to expect when you get into your first job.

Before learning about Tech Elevator, I spent around 6 months learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while working on a blog for my work as a private guitar instructor. I found I really enjoyed the challenge and creativity of programming, and began considering a career change to web development. Though I was making progress through self-study, I knew I needed help building my skills if I wanted to become employable. It was around that same time that Tech Elevator announced it would be opening a campus in Columbus. I took the online assessment, attended an orientation, took part in an interview, and eventually accepting a spot in the Spring 2017 Java Development cohort. Everything I saw and read about the organization suggested it was the real deal, so I took a bet on myself and went for it.Though the program is challenging - the equivalent of 14 straight weeks of college finals, with an extensive job search thrown on top - the personnel and structure ensure that anyone with the proper aptitude and drive will succeed. The instructors were amazing - knowledgeable, patient, and continuously offering their time and support. The Pathways Program was just as important; they worked to get us in front of dozens of top companies, and prepared us to shine in those meetings. In the end, the hard work paid off. I had multiple job offers before graduation, and eventually accepted an software development position with JPMorgan Chase & Co. I’m learning a ton every day, working with many of the same technologies taught during the program. Thanks to Tech Elevator, I’ve completely changed the trajectory of my life. If you’re a hard worker, an avid learner, and interested in a career in technology, I highly recommend you consider this program.

Whether or not to attend a bootcamp was a decision that I agonized over for close to a year. I knew that I wanted to change careers but upfront cost of attending a bootcamp coupled with the lost wages accumulated over the course of a fulltime program gave me pause. As a recent Tech Elevator graduate I can now confidently say that the experience was definitively well-worth both the time and money. The team at Tech Elevator is incredible. From the instructors to the teaching fellows to the career advisors, I honestly got the impression that everyone was invested in me and genuinely rooting for my success. While the coding curriculum is rigorous and extremely challenging, there is no shortage of support. Whenever I ran into a roadblock, I only needed to walk down the hall or, if it was after-hours, send a quick message to my instructor. One of the most valuable things about the Tech Elevator experience is their partnerships with local businesses and their reputation within the community. I attended the program in Columbus, Ohio and their reputation here is pretty incredible. Everyone who works in the tech community seems to know someone who attended the program and is excelling in the field. I also found a lot of value in the matchmaking event that they host towards the end of every cohort. I interviewed with 6 different companies through this event and snagged follow-up interviews with 5.I received an offer from my top choice company a week prior to graduation. While graduating with a job offer already under your belt isnt a given, it certainly wasnt abnormal either (based on my experience and that of my classmates). I am 100% satisfied with my experience at Tech Elevator and would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

I took a chance on them, and in return they took a chance on me - Im someone who is outside of their demographic, and was a possible risk on their outstanding statistics. But they saw something in me that made them take a chance on me, and believed in me the entire way through the program. Tech Elevator doesnt just give you a 14 week education; they also give you life-long friendship, mentorship, and support. The program is rigourous and not for the faint-of-heart, but it challenges you and pushes you in a realistic manner for what you will face going into the workforce. This bootcamp is vastly different from others becuase it provides you with career specific training in an area that is truly lacking in the tech field - the Pathway Program teaches you how to spotlight your emotional inteligence, and showcases that in their students to outside companies. This leads to external relationships that you truly cannot find elsewhere. Each of the instructors genuinely care about their students as people, and want to see them achieve as much as they can. It is constantly reiterated to students that the staff is not just there for students for the duration of the program, but following graduation for as long as we need it.Tech Elevator also has a phenominal Alumni network that they encourage students to interact with. It provides a crucial aspect of support that you will not find elsewhere. These are individuals who have gone through the same exact thing that current students are experiencing, and provide hardcore evidence that people make it through, and come out the other end successful. Please note that what you put in is exactly what you get out of the program. There were students that spent all their time on phones, and scrolling through random webpages, and those individuals were a part of the percentage that struggled to get a job. Tech Elevator cannot gaurantee a job, but they do a lions share of the work, and those who put effort in see a positive outcome.I had Steve as my instructor, and I could not have asked for a better individual to lead our class. He guided the class with a lively personality and an opportunistic approach to the topics at hand. He provided enough instruction for individuals to have a skeleton of what we were to be doing, and still allowed for critical thinking to occur whilst completing study and assignments. He never once shut down creative ideas, or routes of thinking, and often times encouraged conversations and discussions that, while not always exactly the topic of the day, furthered our knowledge, understanding, or curiosity on subjects. He is also an incredibly genuine and caring person. He treated each of us as students and often as peers as well. He never made me feel stupid for not understanding something, and encouraged me to make mistakes. He often provided guidance for newbies in the adult world and on this career path. He was a safe space to grow, and ask questions, and stumble, and was always there with a smile to encourage us through the program. I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done for the program, for his students, and for me personally. I am excited to continue on in this career knowing he is available as a mentor and guide going forward, and my passion for the program has grown astronomically due to his presence and teaching. As someone who honestly avoided tech and programming for the first chunk of their career/life and who had no skills that were valued in the skill-centered workforce, Tech Elevator changed my life. It challenged me, changed me, and vaulted me into a career that I never knew I could acheive, with a network at my back that I couldnt have ever dreamed of. I owe Tech Elevator a great deal to who and where I am now!

I quit my high school teaching job of nine years at the end of last school year to pursue a career in technology. I was enrolled at Ohio State part-time but was not looking forward to a 2+ year process. My mother heard the Tech Elevator ad on the radio and encouraged me to apply. They had run several cohorts in Cleveland but this was the first one in Columbus. I checked them out online and everything seemed legit - lots of positive reviews and students who landed real jobs. I completed the online assessment and was invited in for an interview and second assessment. I liked the staff members I met during the interview (on a Thursday), and was excited to find out I was accepted the following Tuesday. The program is intense. I have multiple graduate-level degrees and this was as challenging if not more than all of those programs (including law school). The good news is that its over quickly. The bad news is that its over quickly. I loved everyone I met there - both staffers and fellow students, and once we got into the groove and got to know each other the 14 weeks flew by. The Java instructor, Casey Borders, is amazing. Patient and knowledgeable. A true coding wizard! You will be there from 9-4:30 most days. If youre like me and arent always the best about getting things done at home, you should probably stay until you get all of your homework finished. Try not to fall behind as things can pile on quickly. The reading may not seem as exciting as the coding but it will help you be a better programmer and pick up the language and vocabulary to be an effective communicator.Around week 10 is the Matchmaking Event and this is where the job-hunting really picked up for me. Before the event, we worked on our resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and interviewing skills through the Pathways component of the program. Each student has 8-10 interviews back-to-back. I was so nervous, but it was so helpful to be forced to get over the nervousness. After the event, I received 5ish follow-ups from employers who attended and tons of promising feedback. One of my second interviews was about 10-days after the event and I received a job offer about 3-4 days after that (a full 2 weeks before graduation). It is at a large national bank and the pay was at the top end of my anticipated salary range. Today was my first day of work and Im excited for everything in store for the future. And so thankful to Tech Elevator for their expertise and assistance getting my foot in the door.

I graduated August 2018 from the Java Cohort and i can’t say enough good things. Going in, I thought I knew more about coding than I actually did, so the program was very tough. And I also thought I was on-point with my resume and interview skills, which needed some help. The course feeds you info like a firehouse so was very challenging, but the instructors and staff are always willing to give you extra help and guidance after class or nights and weekends through the messaging app. If you put in the work, you will earn that reward. I learned everything i needed to get me started in a career as a Software Engineer, but I learned so much more about myself as a person. There were times that I felt I wouldn’t get to the finish line, but with help and encouragement from everyone (including classmates), I dug deep and stuck it out. The staff does a great job to get you there, but soft-skills aren’t spoon-fed. You have to work hard and figure some stuff out no your own and that makes it that much more rewarding. I’ve never done anything so difficult and I’ve never had any career experience more fulfilling. If you want to change your career, you can do that at Tech Elecator, but you will elevate your life in the process. Go for it.

Tech Elevators Coding Academy was one of the highlights of my career. I was fortunate enough to be sponsored by my employer to attend full time for the 14 weeks. The classes were extremely well taught and small enough to allow students to feel comfortable asking questions and get individual help when needed. I felt that the way that Tech Elevator teaches coding is really well done. Learning the theory and the basics before launching into writing lots of code - giving you the building blocks and concepts that you need to make sense of object oriented programming step by step. Classes took place in the morning with individual exercises to work on in the afternoon, later including pair programming so not only experiencing working with other people at different ability levels, but learning how pair programming works. At the end of each section of the course students worked on a mini capstone project with another student, pulling together what had been learnt in the previous weeks and challenging you beyond what had been taught in the classroom - something that every developer will need to be able to do in the workplace. At the end of 12 weeks, we worked in small agile teams to create an application based on requirements provided by a product owner. Some of these were real life projects from companies outside Tech Eleveator but also projects created by the instructors. That was such fun and I had a great time working with my team to create a website for unemployed cats! For the students that were not already in a job, Tech Elevator provides an amazng Pathway program to help students find developer roles, bringing in companies to hold job fairs and interviews, helping prepare linked in profles, elevator pitches and a whole raft of great ideas and practise. It was all in all, an incredible experience and although I was ready to return to work, I also hated to leave the academy where I had felt myself grow so much in terms of my confidence. It was *tough* and it was hard work. I put in many hours beyond those in the academy and at times pulled my hair out in frustration, but the support from my instructor Steve and the other instructors was phenomenal. I made some great friendships and learnt so much from my fellow students too - I cant tell you how amazing this place is. Take the leap - it will be worth every cent and the blood, sweat and tears!

Before Tech Elevator, I was an R&D engineer at a top automobile company. Benefits and pay were outstanding, but I was slowly dying of boredom. I had some experiences in the past of writing code and those were the days that flew by for me.I knew I wanted to get into software development, but going back to major in computer science felt like overkill and would not necessarily secure me a job in the field. After some light research, I was happy to find that Tech Elevator existed, and was in Columbus OH (a 20 minute drive for me). Once I understood the Pathways program and did the on-site open house, I knew it was the right choice. After applying and getting accepted, I was counting down the days for the cohort to start. The first module (1 of 4) was largely review for me. Instead of just blazing through exercises, I was encouraged to help other students as we learned the ins and outs of object oriented programming. This actually proved to be very educational for me - you really only fully understand something when you can explain it to someone else. When we hit module 2, I started to feel the stress of learning new material! At this point, I started getting help from other students and going to professors after hours.By the time we got through the rest of the modules, I felt extremely confident in my abilities to program. I remember doing an exercise in CSS at home and my wife walked by and saw my screen and asked Oooh, what are you ordering for Audrey? (my daughter). I had created a styled web-site that represented a kids toy store and it was good enough to fool her.The culmination of the entire experience was interviewing with companies for a junior software developer role. I think a lot of people expect the hardest part of the cohort to be learning to code, but really for me it was the job search. I over-prepared my interviewing skills with extra mock interviews and lots of guided practice. The biggest advice I can give to you: its all about confidence. If you study hard, take all the events seriously, overprepare, educate fellow students, ask tons of questions to your professor, understand every piece of your pair projects, then your confidence will be through the roof and you will be overprepared for a junior developer role. Going into an interview with 8 people at a desk watching me whiteboard the architecture of an MVC project? No sweat! I had overflowing levels of confidence and still do, cant you tell? I knew going out of that interview I would have an offer. I got it the next day and it was my number one choice! In summary, I am thankful to Tech Elevator for bridging my gap to be a software developer. Extra kudos to John Fulton - the best professor I have ever had.

Having started an education company in college I was very skeptical of anything in higher ed (especially for-profits). I knew a lot of the ins and outs of for-profit Universities having had some of them as my venture capitalist, so when I started looking into bootcamps in Columbus I did a lot of research and questioned everything. I knew there has been a lot of bad actors out there in the for-profit model, so I did my research and encourage you to as well. With the bootcamp concept being relatively new and the government generally being behind in regulations, inevitably there is going to be some pump dump quick profit players. I went to several open houses, looked at LinkedIn profile success, talked with people, and even read reviews here. I knew it was important to go with the best of breed in the industry to truly learn, get the job support, and create the network needed to revamp my career. The last thing I wanted was to be one of the news stories about how I thought I would get a career and all I did was build up more debt.I found the best of breed of coding bootcamps in Tech Elevator. Their model depends on your success! If their students do not do well it hurts them long-term and you can sense that, so the motivation is aligned. Casey, Katie, and everyone else at Tech Elevator are awesome. I could not be happier. I now have a cybersecurity role where I work for AEP, Battelle, L brands, Huntington, Cardinal Health, Ohio Health, and Nationwide. I get to work for the best and brightest companies of Columbus now doing what I love. Tech Elevator changed my life and I could not have done it without them.It was not easy, and honestly it cant be. There is a lot to learn no matter what you say. This is also why Tech Elevator wont accept just anyone with a check. They want their students to succeed and only select students they see the most potential in. I can guarantee you if this is what you truly are interested in and you have the drive, it is well worth the investment. The only downside was that I had to quit my job in order to do the bootcamp, but to be honest, I do not see how other models work if you are not truly immersed.
