Josiah has been apart of Columbus Martial arts for about a month now. He loves it and so do I! For me, the 1-2 minutes of individual attention is great. They ask how they are doing in school, how was their day and things of that nature. I also love how the coaches discuss how important it is to behavior, pay attention, and do your best not just in class but also at home and school. Josiah loves the games at the end of class too. One final thing, Josiah had an eyelash in his eye and it was irritating him bad. The coach went over to him, figured out the problem, and coached him on rubbing his eye. Their attentiveness to all the children is amazing. Josiah is in the beginners class.

CMA is one of the best decisions we made, enrolling our oldest child at the beginning of our experience to enrolling our other three children as well.They’re very patient and experienced at meeting our children’s needs from head to toe. Inspiring our children to having confidence and having respect for everyone.Our youngest son is on the spectrum and he enjoys every minute of it. With CMA redirection and positive reinforcement he has improved staying focused.Our oldest daughter is very shy and they encouraged her to be confident in herself and it’s definitely paid off.Our oldest son was bullied in mid school to the point we had to change something. Now his confidence is where it needs to be.

We sent our son to CMA to teach him to fight. This Academy is more of a leadership prep school that teaches not only fundamentals, but also character as a part of the childs foundation. My daughter started about two months ago. She absolutely loves class days. She is working hard and pushing to excel. This is a complete 180 to how she was 6 months ago. The coaches are amazing. They truly care about each student and helping them achieve their goals. We can’t say enough great things about the staff and coaches.

Really disappointed! I requested more informations online and got a call from them. However the lady I spoke to was not helpful at all! They wanted me to come in with my son to do an evaluation class but couldnt give me a price range for how much it would be monthly. I told her I need the price range before I bring my son in for a class and him love it and not be able to afford it and him be disappointed! She still kept saying they would give me the price AFTER the class.

This place is awesome. I am dual military and needed my kids to have more discipline because we worked so much. I enrolled both my kids and they love it. Both of them say yes sir and yes maam now. The instructors are awesome and provide positive reinforcement, but they also just dont hand things out. Everything given to the students is earned. This is a great place for your children.

CMA has been a tremendous help with our son to cope with his autism. He was bullied at school due to the kids not understanding his condition. He shut down and became a recluse. But with the training he’s received from the excellent instructors, he has opened up more & loves attending! We are so greatful for CMA & the staff. I highly recommend CMA to all parents who has a child (or children) looking for structure, exercise, self defense, and self confidence booster; also, therapy for autistic children.

Columbus Martial Arr has been a very positive experience for both of my children who are 5 and 10. Coaches are all very involved and their patience with each child as they learn creates a really positive experience. Coach Ken really pushed my oldest to perform to his fullest potential. While maintaining a positive and fun experience for him. Only downside to the program is the cost is a little steep, but they do have different promotions and will work with you were they can. Overall it has been a great experience and both kids look forward to attending class each day

This academy is amazing! We are a military family and move every few years. I wanted somewhere for my son to go and feel a sense of stability. As well as to build his confidence, discipline and strength. We decided to give CMA a try and we don’t regret it one bit!! All of the coaches are amazing with the kids! When I moved to Columbus, I decided to finally follow up on practicing martial arts after putting it off for a while. After searching around, I finally decided to sign up for the adult classes at Columbus Martial Arts Academy and I haven’t regretted it one bit. I immediately noticed how welcoming the atmosphere within the gym was. It’s always intimidating when starting something new, especially martial arts, but they were able to establish a dynamic that allowed for me to be comfortable while also expanding upon myself physically and mentally. The camaraderie is also unmatched, as I’ve met some amazing training partners and we’ve all grown together. The coaches are always willing to answer any questions I have after class and provide advice and tips that you may need personally. Reflecting on where I started and where I am now, I’ve learned so much and there’s still more room for improvement. They’ve most certainly kindled my passion for the sport. I highly recommend.As for the children’s classes, it’s amazing how the coaches are able to foster such a family friendly environment. Their classes usually take place right before the adult class, and on days where I would be early, I would watch the children’s classes along with the parents. The kids love it, and so do the parents. As a matter of fact, there have been several parents who have joined the adult class after witnessing their kids train and grow so much. Columbus Martial Arts Academy is an amazing place for people of all ages to grow and appreciate martial arts!

My son has been coming here for over a year and he loves it! The coaches are amazing! They encourage the students to strive to do their best! We had tried several other martial art studios and hands down this is the absolute best!

My 6-year-old loves it here and I am so happy I went off Google reviews to try it out. The experience starts out great with Kina, who works the front desk... she knows everyone, and greets everyone with a smile and a hello. We started in January with an assessment from Coach Tiler, and was told about how their MMA program differs from others. They use SPARK, and Im really happy thats a thing... I wanted her to be with kids her age! Even during the stay at home, they held zoom classes! Coach Andrew was great with her age group (she was 5 when we started), and after lockdown, she tried out for the next age group (Coach Tiler, who is super awesome). These coaches are so good with the kids, and I have seen some transformations during the last (almost) 10 months!! Coach Colton (the overseer, lol) keeps us all updated on FB, IG, and through their app. My daughter also got to train with Coach Colton a couple of times, and hes scary good! Im happy my daughter has a place to learn thats fun, disciplined, safe, and spacious.

Our daughter has been in the Tiny Warrior program for about 6 months now and they have been such a blessing to us. We put her in the program because she was having some behavioral issues in school, she was somewhat timid and very emotional. Since joining the program she has done a complete 360! She has a lot more confidence in herself and controls her emotions very well. All the coaches here are amazing!! They know ALL the kids by name and on a personal level. I love this place, it has worked wonders for us. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Absolutely love! My daughter, who is 10, has learned multiple self defense moves and has the absolute most fun doing so. It not only builds strength but her confidence as well. The studio promotes self confidence, self defense and structure. The coaches are involved with not only happenings in the studio but also how my daughter is doing in school and at home. This is the place you want your kids to go!

The decision to have my son enrolled here has proven to be of great benefit to him. The students are often complemented for their participation and achievements which builds pride and self-esteem. CMAA is great. The coaches are amazing. Everything from our first visit to now (months later) has been great. Its well worth the money. My son has become more discipline , confident, and willing to try new things. He is on his own journey to becoming a “ninja”, which is so exciting to watch.Coach Tiler was so informative when doing the placement (assessment) test. Coach Ken and Coach Andrew are great, they work so well together, and with the kids - so does Coach Dominic. It’s just such a great atmosphere. I highly recommend CMAA. I have been looking for something extra in my life to get me up and moving again. It took me a minute to finally get in and start training but now that I am I can’t get enough. Columbus Mixed Martial Arts Academy is definitely the gym to go to. All of the coaches are passionate about what they do and are very professional. My first class was with Coach Matt Clay, and he taught me many techniques and was there to assist me every step along the way. It was my first class that I felt comfortable and determined to improve. I have been bringing my 9yr old son here to the Academy since November 2018. I was looking for an extra curricular activity for him that could bring him out of his shell & build his confidence. He ended up loving it! The Coaches here are great teachers - they are always present, very knowledgeable in their craft, and enthusiastic & ready to work with the kids. I like the fact that they regularly go to training to learn how to effectively teach children, as well as to further study/learn their martial arts. Watching from the stands, i can feel how much fun all the kids are having & i especially am proud of how much my son has learned so far. When it comes to cost, I feel like Im getting my moneys worth, since classes are scheduled up to 4x a week.Overall, I would highly recommend Columbus Martial Arts Academy when it comes down to value for a program, as well as being staffed by a genuinely nice group of Coaches who are also competent, learned professionals in their field.

Im not sure how the screening process works to find these coaches but what ever it was worked. Each and everyone of them is doing exactly what they should be doing in life. They offer a fun filled, safe environment that offers the kids a new challenge to overcome every day. With positive reinforcement my son in particular has become a real leader and I couldnt be more in awe of what theyve created in him. I have nothing but respect for the team at Columbus MMA and am so very grateful theyve touched our familys lives.If youre on the fence about placing your child in the program in this gym, please take my advice and do it. Your child will grow far beyond your imagination.Update: Its been several years since weve relocated away from Columbus and my son left this amazing gym but still to this day, I see the mark theyve left on my son! I have 2 children in their MMA course and I go to their adult class, weve been doing it for almost 2 years. They love it, and I enjoy how much they are learning... Every class is different, and the coaches do a great job engaging the kids and making the information stick.... Be careful. I paid a down deposit of 399 and the contract was to be for 594 for 6 months. I called today and I am now being told that this is not correct even thought I have a contract that states otherwise. Due to the dishonesty of the company I can no longer endorse. My son will no longer go here.

This has been an amazing program for not just my younger sister, but the whole family. All the the coaches are really amazing and awesome. Everyone there is dedicated to the work they do. the coaches strive for everyone to be the best person they can be. From the moment you enter the door the staff is friendly, greeting you and introducing them selves. The coaches ask and answer all your questions professionally and with great knowledge. This was my three year olds first experience with any sports, and the coaches were amazing making the boys feel at ease. Great program for kids! Not just a program for them to learn martial arts skills, but also teaches character building. Over the six months that my daughter has been enrolled, I have seen a change in her behavior. She takes pride in doing chores, helping others, and doing her homework. I have been with this academy for 10 months now. It was initially just for my 3 kids. Ranging from 5-14 years of age. I caught myself also wanting to participate so I could help my little ones practice at home and it has definitely been life changing. Great way to release stress and the comradery built is great. I would recommend this to anyone. They have all levels from beginner to veterans in the juijitsu game. Very much a family environment.

After a thorough search for the best quality martial arts school for my daughter, we chose Columbus Mixed Martial Arts Academy. This school goes far beyond the martial arts standard and I am continuously impressed by the coaches dedication to providing not only the best instruction, but also strong values and challenges to keep these kids engaged and having fun while doing so. Shes been taking classes and participating in the afterschool program for now over a year, and it is still a struggle to get her out the door at the end of each day. I first came here wanting to attend the boxing classes last year. I accidentally went to a Muay Thai class and was hooked from the second I started. I had never worked out that hard in my life! Now they have an all womens kickboxing class with the awesome instructor Lisa Randolph. I thought the class would be a bit toned down from working out with the guys, but its actually more intense! She makes the class super fun and always different every time. I cant wait to go to kickboxing each week! Everyone here is helpful and you feel like youre with a great group of friends.

The program is thorough. The staff are professional and the style of teaching promotes self esteem and confidence for all ages. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and exceptional with instruction, but working with Coach Clay independently is great.

The coaches are so patient with the kids. They make sure they do the proper technique for the certain positions and moves. They will stop the kids and re-show them the proper way. They always re-show and make sure the kids understand how to do the moves they are working on.

I am currently a student here and all of the coaches are really awesome and they push us to do our best when they know what we are capable of i personally recommend this place for new comers to martial arts.

I love this place!! My daughter went here for a year for BJJ until we moved away. We want to come back to Georgia, just for this school! We have yet to find another that compares. The coaches are absolutely fantastic, and the kids are trained so well! They also have an amazing after school program, as well as an awesome summer camp!!!!!

The MMA coaches are like family. They are a big part of the wonderful, respectful, compassionate, and fun loving kid my son has become. He holds their opinion is high regard. Thanks Simon, Colton, Mike, Tyler, Kent, Shawn and of course he loves Dominic. We love this place.

My son had done almost 2 years of Muay Thai before we moved to the Columbus area. I wanted to get him into martial arts to continue his training. We tried another gym out in the area but I just felt like it didnt really *click* for my son. So we contacted CMAA and set up am appointment for Coach Mike to access our son. All I have to say is Im glad we found this place. They follow the same structure as his old gym... It has been such a smooth transition and he is thriving. I highly recommend CMAA. They are a very well rounded gym and the coaches are fantastic! They welcomed my son with open arms and it means the world to me💗💗

Do not go here! We had a horrible experience with CMA before we even started classes. I went against some advice from a long-time BJJ practitioner who recommended I not go here because of shady contract agreements. He was right! The Manager/head instructor was misleading and attempted to entrap us. During your first visits and assessment, they try to have you sign a contract and providing payment information in order to avoid a steep entry fee. This amounts to $600 in savings per child. CMA gave us the weekend to talk about it and make a decision on how to move forward. We decided to cancel due to a pending overseas deployment. I called the morning of the final day we had to confirm before being charged. When I called and spoke to the Manager, he told me the payment already went through! He had the audacity to question whether my deployment was legitimate, yet he has never served in the military himself. He then deferred to the contract and a third party billing agency who never returned my phone calls. I had to dispute the charges with my bank. The will be hearing from my lawyer.

The MMA class there is great! The coaches are outgoing, caring, and teach self discipline to their students with great patience. My son was only 3 years old when he first started. The positive change and self discipline I saw in him over the course of the months that he attended was astonishing!!

I am sending this review as a warning, be careful of what you are told when paying out your hard earned money. I signed my grandson up for the program, at that time I was told I could cancel any time within 60 days, for any reason. When I came in to cancel I was told to fill out this form, I did, then told to call cancellation department.I could not reach anyone so when I called back to the gym I was told I could not cancel only transfer to another family member. When that didnt work I was told to email the termination department, so I did. They told me because he did not come in for 18 visits I could not cancel. Now they will not let any email from me go in, it says permanent failure is the responds I get. I have prayed about this and would really like to receive a refund of my money, but I dont know what else to do. Maybe the media news. Very disappointed, I thought the young man was honest? Oh Well.

Columbus Mixed Martial Arts Academy has been a home away from home. The atmosphere promotes hard work, but also retains a fun and welcoming vibe. People here are extremely friendly, and it makes the hard work feel easy!

Bottom Line: Despite quality instruction, run as fast as you can.I recently took my five year-old daughter to two trial lessons here. We were very impressed by the coaches and how involved all the children were. They were all very excited to be there and did a good job being focused during the lesson. The coaches managed to involve them the entire time, and every kid there seemed to love it. The introductory program is essentially a guided exercise class that tried to teach kids to focus on following directions. Once they show they can focus well enough, they are invited to the Black Belt Club, where they study fighting. There is also a competition program that is active and sounds very exciting.I had some misgivings after numerous strange phone calls from their office. In one, they complained that I missed an appointment (I hadnt). In another, they called to remind me of an appointment but gave me the wrong time. The strangest went like the following:Them: Hello, this is Columbus Mixed Martial Arts. I heard you were interested in signing your daughter up. When can I make an appointment for her to come in?Me: I already made an appointment.Them: Oh... Can I have your phone number for our records?Me: You called me.Them: I would really appreciate it if you could give us your phone number.Me: How much does your program cost?Them: I cant answer that question.Me: When would my daughters classes be if I signed her up?Them: Youd have to talk to the coach. I cant tell you that.Me: Can I talk to the coach or someone else who can answer my questions?Them: No. Can I have your phone number please?Despite our misgivings, we decided to sign our daughter up. The owner brought us into an office and asked us why he should allow our daughter to be selected for this competitive program. Then, he started a high-pressure sales pitch to convince us to sign up for his limited time offer of $894 up front for eight months of classes. The owner was evasive when asked if there were any other fees. This was far more money than we expected, so we left to think it over and do research. We found numerous reviews from people claiming that the company charges several hundred dollars for the Black Belt Club upgrade, which your child will need to stay interested long term after 1-2 months. This is on top of what they already charged. Additionally, if you want your child to progress, you need to pay belt fees. One reviewer claimed that her two children were kicked out for disruptive behavior. I can understand that, but the owner pocketed the rest of their money and refused to give a refund. In his response to the review, he called out the children by name, talked about their autism condition, and accused them of stealing. Other reviewers talked about difficulties getting refunds for what sounded like legitimate reasons, and the owner was very abusive in his responses. There are many review pages for slightly different variations of the companys name, and most of the older ones are full of reviews like this. Please search.I was very excited about the quality of the instruction, but the shady business practices, hidden costs, high-pressure sales, and questionable ethics encouraged me to search elsewhere.

Ultimate Youth Sports/Columbus Martial Arts Acadmey is the best after school and martial arts program! They offer so many opportunities for kids of all ages. Martial Arts is one of the best aspects about this program. It teaches children how to properly defend themselves in real life situations. I have been training jiu jitsu in this program for a little over a year now and I love it! It has truly taught me focus, discipline, and mental strength. I would have never been able to be the person I am today without Ultimate Youth Sports. :)
