I had been a high school teacher for five years when I decided that I wanted to pursue a new career path. I knew I wanted to go into web development, but I wasnt sure how to go about it. I had basically no knowledge or experience. Should I enroll in a university? Should I take classes online? I wasnt sure. Then a friend of mine suggested the Tech Talent South Code Immersion class. It was simply the perfect fit. From being welcomed via email after I enrolled to meeting my instructor on the first day of class, everyone made me feel comfortable and important right away. It was clear that there was a structure of support already in place. I learned tremendously from my teacher and felt like I was really sinking my teeth into relevant information and skills. The community organizer was very enthusiastic and helpful in immersing the students into the code community and helping us make connections that could lead to jobs. I have only been out of my teaching job for six months and Im already prepared to apply for a job as a developer. I cant thank Tech Talent South enough for making this all possible for me!

I have gone to several of Tech Talent South - Columbus Idea Foundry talks, Including; Social Media Strategy, Applied Visual Design: Principles in Practice, and Career + Code - Visualization and Values Workshop. I started going to Tech Talks to better utilize social media and technology for myself and the company I work for. I have stayed not only because it has provided me with information that helped me with my day to day work but has helped me better with my own professional development. I particularly enjoyed Evelyn Van Tils Visualization and Values Workshop as it provided me with exercises that guided me to understand the next steps I want to take to further my professional development into a more full-filling and challenging career. I will continue to enjoy going to these talks as I find them to be a very good networking tool, and very educational. I recommend that anyone who is looking to get into technology or those who work in technology but want to further their education and meet like minded individuals come to the weekly Tech Talks provided by Tech Talent South - Columbus.

Evelyn and Tech Talent South have been an amazing addition to the Columbus Idea Foundry. The Idea Foundry is built around a strong community that is excited to learn and excited to teach others. Evelyn exudes both of these with her teaching and mentorship. Not only does she offer a type of class that we didnt previously offer, and she is a great brand ambassador when she is here! Every time I am here after her class ends she give a great tour of the Idea Foundry, which allows her students to see how the skills they are building can be translated into , job opportunities, useful personal skillsets, or their own small business ideas.I am excited to see how Tech Talent South grows with Evelyn as the Community Organizer!

Not a great place for anyone new to programming. The classes are very expensive and just didnt feel worth it. Most of the meetups that evelyn sets up have next to no thought put into them for anyone who doesnt have all day to wait around.I signed up to go back to the classes and after contacting me a few times, I never heard from them again. So the whole you can take the classes as many times as you like selling point was false.Do your homework before signing up here. Its very expensive and not much was really explained for someone with 0 programming experience.

Through the TTS Code Immersion Boot Camp, I have met some fantastic human beings. Evelyn is a true visionary for the Columbus community, and I’m so grateful our paths have crossed. She has been tasked with a difficult challenge - to raise the profile of a new and different tech education company in this rapidly changing (in all the ways) market. She rises beautifully to this challenge. She has made herself fully accessible to TTS students, and does her very best to connect students with whatever resources she can find for us, even if this means giving of her own time to connect us with community resources, when the company itself may not exactly be meeting our needs. Her enthusiasm is contagious, as is her obvious affection for the Columbus community. Her passion for community building, and her compassion for all human beings is abundant, and is, quite honestly, what drew me to this program above the others. Teachers Andy, Joe and Jon have all brought high levels of expertise and deep levels of commitment to their students. It is my hope that TTS will listen to feedback from these people of integrity, and let them help shape this program into one that will meet the needs of this community.

An amazing program that works with bringing actual industry professionals in to showcase what the skillsets can actually achieve. Evelyn is an amazing person who just wants to help grow the tech scene here in Columbus, and is doing a great job at doing it.
