Ive always wanted to learn ballroom dancing, I was fascinated by it as a kid. This studio introduced it to me in a very enthusiastic and professional way. The 3 instructors: Daniel, Sarah, and Kimberley are all amazing(as are all of the students!!). Very down to Earth and love to just have fun. They all really enjoy what they do, and have been in the profession for years. Im only going on three months as a student, and my level of excitement just increases with each lesson. Whether you want to learn Tango, Waltz, Swing, Salsa, Rumba, Foxtrot, ChaCha or more...its such a great experience. Columbus Northwest!!!

I have been taking lessons at Fred Astaire Columbus northwest for about a year and a half now. I started with Fred Astaire in the Woodlands Texas so when my wife and I moved to Columbus we were thrilled to continue be able to continue dancing here. Before committing to this studio I tried out several other studios in the area and since I have been a student here I have danced at several more dance studios in Columbus. I can objectively say that Fred Astaire Columbus Northwest is the absolute best studio in Columbus. What really makes this place special are the instructors, Carolyn, Zack and Sarah are incredibly knowledgeable and experienced dancers. The difference I have noticed with them compared to other studios is that they do not hold anything back, if you want to learn how to dance like a pro they will teach you. I have enjoyed my time with other instructors and studios but I definitely feel I have made the most growth as a dancer in my time here. Another great thing about Columbus Northwest is the community, all of the regular students are super friendly and open to talking to and dancing with new students. I love how supportive of new dancers the community is. Daniel Tackett the owner of the studio is also a great guy! His positive attitude and love of dancing influences the atmosphere of the studio and helps to create a fun environment. Over the past 3+ years ballroom dancing has become one of my greatest passions and I do still continue to visit other dance studios in the area however I am always proud to return to Columbus Northwest and call it my dance home. I look forward to dancing here for a long time. I hope this review can inspire those considering trying out dancing to choose this studio.

About a year ago my boyfriend and I decided to give dance lessons a try, as I have been dying to learn a little more social and ballroom dancing and how to dance a variety of different dances.We were warmly greeted and quickly felt like family there. I loved the energy every time we came in for a lesson, and everyone was always enjoying themselves. We had a personalized plan for what dances we wanted to learn based on our personal preferences. This plan wasnt set in stone, and we had as much say as we wanted in what we wanted to work on/learn, but were still guided in a teaching style that balanced our strengths, goals, and and of course focused on having fun!There were many socials and dance classes that we could attend outside of our once a week dance lessons, and there were many opportunities to work with world-class dance instructors. This studio really worked with us during scheduling conflicts, and worked around our busy schedule. Carolyn, the manager and the instructor we worked with the most, is obviously very passionate about what she does, and puts so much energy towards making sure her clients have the best possible experience at the studio. No matter what you are looking for when visiting this studio, she will help guide you to where you want to be.The only reason we did not continue our lessons were budgetary and time restraints. However in any future life-event where I will need to brush up or learn more about social and ballroom dance, there is no other place I would go to than Fred Astaire Dance Studio! If you are on the verge, I would highly recommend giving them a call and coming in for an introductory course.

Stared lessons with my fiancé after we tried to do some learn via video classes. Kimberly made it soooooo much easier AND more fun! I can recommend learning from her enough.

My daughter and I are dancing to Fall on Me at her wedding. Instructor Sarah gets 5 stars from this old codger. She custom choreographed a beautiful waltz that perfectly fit the music, the lyrics and the occasion. We always left smiling. I cant image a more enthusiastic, friendly and patient instructor. Prior to our lessons, I did not know how to do a single dance step. Thanks Sarah!!!

My wife and I took lessons for our first dance at our wedding and I honestly didnt know what to expect. I had never danced before and it was a bit intimidating, and then along came Kelsey... and she blew me away. She is so kind, funny and a great instructor. Her vision for our dance was just amazing, I cant imagine it turning out any other way. She knew when to push us, she knew when to adjust. I dont think there is anything she doesnt know when it comes to working with couples and making them feel comfortable and without any worries of inhibitions to dancing. I honestly cant say thank you enough Kelsey, you truly are wonderful. The rest of the staff are amazing as well, we were always welcomed with smiles and encouraged when we showed off our dance, their studio is such a great place to just be with people who care about their students and teaching. ... Who me? Are you kidding -- I cant dance !?! ...Well, thats what I used to think about my dance ability. So I have to admit Im the last person to ever think I could learn to dance -- let alone have fun doing it! I was a very reluctant dancer -- it took my friends and wife a long time to convince (coerce?!?) me to go to the studio with them for a group dance party. Once there, however, I was pleasantly surprised - I was immediately put at ease and they taught me if I can walk then I could learn to dance! Over two years later, Im taking regular lessons and have competed in several regional and national competitions - I would never have imagined this would be possible. The instructors at Fred Astaire Columbus Northwest (Carolyn, Zach, Daniel, Dwayne) are fun, outgoing, talented, very professional and incredibly patient. Believe me, if they can teach me to dance, they can teach anyone to dance! Besides learning to dance Waltz and Tango (which I have always wanted to learn), the other benefits of this amazing studio are a great social environment with many new friends Ive met. Ive also much improved my self-confidence, gracefulness, balance, posture and have lost a lot of weight(!). Now that Ive discovered the world of ballroom dance, it has become a life-long passion for me. All I can say is: Just get yourself in past the front door and see what new fabulous universe awaits you!

My fiancee and I are currently taking dance lessons for our wedding. Our instructor (Carolyn) is helping us choreograph a Waltz/Hustle mixed dance number - and we are loving it! Carolyn is very patient and energetic with us. Although we have had to schedule with a different instructor (Dwayne) several times, he has been just as excellent. We highly recommend this studio for anyone interested in learning dance basics, to choreograph for a wedding, or just to have fun!

My husband and I were in Columbus awhile ago and had the pleasure of visiting this Fred Astaire Dance Studio. This is a gorgeous studio...newly remodeled & very clean decorated for the season. Their dance floor is made of high quality spring wood floor and they even had advanced computerized sound system. : )The Studio owner Dan and his instructors all were there and they were so welcoming. We each took an introductory private lesson that consisted of several dance rhythms. The instructors were excellent at teaching good techniques while still making it fun for both of us. I have some ballroom dance experience, but havent danced much over the past 20yrs so this was so exciting and i loved the dance instruction. My husband has less dance experience and he even really liked how the instructor was able to adjust to his level and at the same time challenged him to learn new steps. The instructors were so friendly and so personable...they are true dance professionals and they know their stuff!!! We would love to visit again and take some more lessons!! After much prodding by a good friend who dances, I finally walked into this studio in February of 2012... and after my first lesson I was hooked. Ballroom dancing has brought together my passion for music and athletics in an extraordinary way. It is absolutely exhilarating, and the benefits of exercise, solid instruction from patient and knowledgeable staff, and a wonderful social community are all very rewarding. I’ve been going to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio Columbus Northwest for the last two years and have had the opportunity to work with almost every instructor on staff. Every single one of them is a joy to work with. They are genuinely passionate about what they do and it comes through in every lesson. They are astute when it comes to technique and are incredible teachers who are invested in making better dancers out of their students. Of course, added to this, they are all incredibly sweet and warm. Their energy is just contagious and no matter which mood I carry into the studio, I always come away with a big smile on my face.. :)

My fiance and I started taking dances for our upcoming wedding and cannot say enough about how wonderful the people are (both instructors and students). I love taking lessons here! The studio has been beautifully remodeled & the instructors are phenomenal! I am fairly new & all of the longtime students were very welcoming & encouraging. Its like a second family now. I would definitely recommend taking lessons here!

This is the first dance studio I ever tried, and I didnt know any better. They charge $94 a 40 min lesson. They are very restricting when labeling you bronze, silver, gold, etc. I felt held back by this system. In 8 lessons, I learned very few steps and felt each week was repetitive and not very challenging. The group lessons and parties are not that much of a perk. I did not often smile, and Im a smiler. Zach L was my teacher. The people are nice, but the chain itself is out to get your money. Ive moved to Emerald City studios and they are about $30 cheaper for 45 min lessons, and Ive grown so much in 9 lessons. Michael Paul is my teacher there, and he really pushes you to reach your potential, not to mention I laugh and smile again.

I wanted to find an activity that would be something out of my comfort zone... so I decided to do ballroom dance. Yah, I was a hockey player with the legs of a penguin on ice, so... I signed up at another studio in town, but wasn’t really motivated to go, mostly the teachers didn’t seem to be into it. I almost quit, but gave it another shot here. Ok, you know the story, because it’s a five star, but in a nutshell: this group is a blast, you’ll get teachers who care, they will give you a plan, and if they say you’ll eventually dance and actually enjoy it, believe them. It’s been four months; I can dance, I’m not quitting anytime soon. I did my first competition two weeks ago, and you know what, without this amazing group, teachers and other students there, I’d still be at home in my comfort zone feeling sorry for not accomplishing something for myself. Do it!

This place, Fred Astaire Columbus Northwest, is awesome and the instructors are fabulous. I have met all of the instructors here at this dance studio and each of them have something special to teach you. My family were in town over the Christmas holidays visiting friends & family when we stopped by this dance studio and everyone especially the Owner were very welcoming. I had a short but very fun and exciting lessons of Waltz, Foxtrot, and Cha-cha with Zach. I’ve had very little experience dancing in the past but Zach made it real easy for me as if I knew how to dance. There were some stubborn steps that I kept missing but he was able to instruct me well so that I was able to get it in such a short time. That’s why I believe that the quality of instructors here are superb because whether you’re a beginner or advanced, they adjust to your level to help you be better. Not only do they really know their dance moves but they know how to teach it well which is fantastic. It’s totally worth your time & money. You’ll definitely have fun too while you’re learning if you enjoy dancing. I would most certainly recommend taking lessons here!

I have taken lessons at this studio for several years, the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and have an obvious love for their craft.If you have ever thought you might want to learn to dance, this is the place to be.

In 11 months of dancing here, I lost 41 lbs and met a ton of new friends. :) For me, Dance Parties every Friday night were a much easier way to get started on a healthier lifestyle than going to the gym!

Great bunch of people, and thats the dancers and the instructors. They make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Very much a family.

I would love to take a class, I already do competitive dance!! But I would love to take a ballroom dance class.
