We love the Barn! Our child has had a wonderful, positive experience there. The teachers are warm and nurturing and absolutely marvelous when it comes to understanding children and the best ways to connect with them and allow them to explore play in fun and safe ways.

We love the Barn! My daughter who has always been on the shyer side was immediately welcomed and brought into this amazing community. After only the first couple days she woke up and asked if she could go to the Barn every singe morning! I love the thoughtful and caring nature of all of the teachers. This school does an amazing job of letting kids freely play both outside and in as well as make choices for themselves. Their program allows kids to grow their sense of independence, curiosity, imagination all while having a ton of fun! Im excited to send my next daughter to the Barn in the years to come!!

We love The Barn! Our third daughter is entering her third year at The Barn, and her two older sisters are Barn alumnae who jump at the chance to go back to visit their beloved preschool, teachers, and playground any time they are able. The teachers at The Barn are so loving, patient, and kind - they truly are toddler- and preschool-whisperers. The space in the historic Scout House is bright and cheery, and the playground is the best - fairy gardens, giant blocks, a stage, etc - who could ask for more? The co-op aspect of The Barn is very sweet - the parent helping mornings are such fun, and we have loved the many social gatherings both for parents and for the whole family. If you are looking for a true sense of community and a wonderful place for your child to grow and learn, The Barn is the right place for you!

My two boys attended The Barn Cooperative Nursery School from ages 2 - 5 (2012 - 2017). It is a preschool where kids are encouraged to be kids and grow and learn through play, creativity and friendships. The Director, Susan Boyle, and her staff are not only incredible teachers - they are warm, open and accessible which sets the tone for school. They genuinely knew and cared for my boys. I credit The Barn with making our move to Concord a seamless one. I will always look back at those years with thanks and fondness and feel fortunate that our family was part of such a welcoming and nurturing community.

The Barn was home to my children (and me) for five years, and still is today. They knew my children--and all children--incredibly well, and offer a curriculum that is inclusive of every child and every learning style. It was also a real community for me and my husband: we met many of our closest friends at the Barn, and still feel a deep connection to the teachers and the school today. We could not possibly have chosen a better place for our family to attend preschool.

The teachers are kind and playful and model the empathy, curiosity, and love of learning we hope to foster in our children in these early years and beyond. My son is enrolled at The Barn currently, and every day, he wakes up and asks, is it a Barn day?? He loves going to play with his friends, explore the rich activities the teachers provide, and he has learned so much in his time there. My younger daughter cannot wait to attend, and I often have to carry her out after dropping my son off, because she wants to stay! I have found so many wonderful connections with other parents and am so thankful for the community that the Barn has provided for our entire family!

The Barn is such a wonderful preschool! I have a son currently enrolled and he has had such a great experience. There is no question that his younger sibling will also attend the Barn. The creativity in activities and the attention to the interest of the students creates such a fun, inviting, and engaging environment.

My family has been a part of the Barn for 5 years and we love the school. Great teachers, great kids, and a great community.

Long story short, my daughter attended this school for a month last year in 2016 when she was 4. I pulled her out because she was being bullied (even I witnessed it when parent-helping) and the director was simply dismissive about it, that it just does not happen in their school. Rather than saying she will keep an eye, like what sane and responsible adult or educator would say and do, she denied the possibility and started to attack my 4 year-olds character. Wow, some were untrue, and overall immature and unprofessional interaction. After realizing that decent interaction was impossible with the director, I pulled my daughter out. I even sought an education lawyer around because I certainly wanted my money back from this ridiculous institution and I had everything on record via email. The school ended up giving me a refund out of good will (their words), however.Now that my daughter is 5 and in kindergarten with better discernment, she told me that with the exception of one teacher who was very helpful and fair, other teachers were not nice. When I asked what not nice was, she remembers a couple of boys shoving and pushing her and when she told the other teachers, they just shrugged and replied oh, ok and walked away. And they think so highly of themselves for having years of experience. She also let me know that a kid called her a goblin and laughed at her, and when her feelings were hurt and complained, an adult told her thats ok, goblins are cute. Just wow! And yet, when my daughter just stated boys dont wear jewelry, apparently another adult pretty much yelled at her yes they can! Very far from nurturing. I am so glad that I pulled her out on her third week of school, especially after hearing things from her about how the teachers behaved. Honestly, with 3-4 teachers and a parent helper, it is EASY to redirect, teach and notice problems rising among kids. The director also complained to me that I shouldnt send a string cheese and water with my daughter because they encourage eating together the same things and complained about allergies in other kids. String cheese was pretty much on the menu always, and I packed it in because my daughter is very active and tall, and has a great appetite. And I never complained about their filtered water as I prefer giving bottled water because my daughter gets stomachaches and bathroom problems with faucet water. I never insisted they buy water, so I just provided my daughter with her bottle. And that was a problem. She was so willing to pick on things that did not matter, but did not pay attention to kids and refused to deal with problems.I really do not want to think that they were racists as everyone there was Caucasian - but do they really behave this way with all the kids and parents? Highly doubt it. I hope a lot of things changed here and that they got their act together because it really seems subpar especially considering it is located in a town like Concord.One day I will get over this experience I suppose!
