My daughter has gone to the Ballet Academy for several years. She did really well in the in lower levels and especially loved Miss Allison and Miss Tammie. However, when she got to the upper levels SOME of the faculty were less encouraging. The more people I watched the more I learned that if your child did not have perfect feet and a perfect ballet build she would not be given the opportunity for advancing. There is definite favoritism at the older levels and management only seems to care about the kids who will bring glory by landing a position on a professional company.

Ballet Academy of Texas is a wonderful school with a magnificent atmosphere for forming well-trained dancers! Even the other parents were friendly and inviting at this studio. Teachers are helpful, professional and highly skilled. I am amazed how instructors hone the students abilities, while at the same time, instructors make classes creative using a variety of methods and techniques. You see so much growth in each student. I love this place!!

A great place for our daughter! Weve been a part of the BAT family for 2 years. When my daughter wanted to start dance again, I sought out a place that would provide long-lasting opportunities for her...one grounded in solid foundational dance skills...one that ensures the safety, skill, and proper techniques for the dancers above all else...one that provides the dancers an opportunity to perform but never showcases them with inappropriate dances or costumes. BAT is all that and more! Were excited to go into our third year with BAT and hope that we can enjoy many more with the teachers and other students at the school.

We have had a great experience at this studio. They are quite professional in the way they handle all their students. They were also very gentle and encouraging when my dancer was quite young. The instructors challenge the older dancers to reach their potential. They work to keep quality instructors.

My daughter is now 14 and is in her second year of being in toe shoes. She has had most every teacher here and has loved them all! This school is a wonderful school for learning ballet. They do teach a curriculum and take what they do very seriously. They are professional and genuinely want to teach their craft to the kids. I have found that my daughter is given constructive critique but Im equally hearing her remark about the compliments and praise she receives. The director has been one of her teachers every year. She is involved and know each child. She has remained one of my childs favorite teachers each year. If you are interested in learning ballet this is a great place to be!

I have 2 daughters ages 9 and 14 at BAT and they love going to dance every time! In the 3.5 years we have been with BAT my daughters have received excellent and disciplined training while still having fun. They love being able to participate in the yearly Nutcracker production. Every instructor is professional and their love for teaching dance is evident. We drive from McKinney just so they can attend this studio and learn dance from ABT certified teachers.

My daughter, who is 14, has been a student at the Ballet Academy of Texas since she was 3. I cannot imagine her having a better dance education. All of her teachers ( and she has had all of them) have been kind, supportive, and focused on providing a high quality dance education to all students from the very beginning. She has loved dancing at BAT since her very first class in 2006, and still loves it today!! In addition, I have always found the director, as well as the rest of the staff, to be very responsive to any questions or concerns that I have. Emails and phone calls are quickly returned.BAT utilizes the ABT National Training Curriculum so the training is consistent and cohesive with all of the teachers. Of course the teachers individual styles, personalities, and approaches will differ somewhat, but this helps the dancers have different perspectives. I am thankful for such high quality dance education in a nurturing environment where my daughter has been able to develop and grow as a dancer.Holli Johnson

This school is very large, overcrowded, impersonal and inefficient. If your child does not have what they are looking for they are categorized, discounted and become part of the revenue mill used to fill classes and generate money for the school. A few of the instructors are caring and hard-working, but others are incompetent and disinterested -- just plain lazy. There is no cohesive syllabus or ballet method that is pursued. Some instructors are American Ballet Certified; those who are not are looked down on. For example, my child was recommended for promotion by her instructor; it was overruled by another staff member who ridiculed the instructor who, though classically trained, was not American Ballet certified. These petty power plays made promotions appear arbitrary and ambiguous -- based on someones mood. That, coupled with poor communication, made learning difficult to assess. My inquiries as to my childs progress were dismissed rudely. In the six (6) years that my 9 year old participated in many classes, the director, who showed no leadership and whose primary focus is the Ballet Ensemble, never acknowledged or spoke to me once and I was visible. I contacted another school and the director offered immediately to evaluate my child. Gladly, she has regained her confidence and her love of dance has been rekindled in a new environment.

From a loving Aunts perspective, Ballet Academy is far beyond 5 stars. The staff at the studio take great lengths into making every child young and old feel like they are part of their family. I have watched my niece from age 3 to now 8 grow into a perfect little ballerina. The staff is not only professional in their skill set, but also loving, kind, and considerate of the students and parents. The training as well as teaching young students to love ballet is incomparable to any academy in the metroplex.

My daughter has been at Ballet Academy of Texas for 6 years since she was 2 years old. We love all the teachers and staff and I am always impressed by how much she excels each year! Unlike other dance studios in the area, they truly teach them the foundations of ballet and they have fun doing it!

We drive an hour each way to attend Ballet Academy of Texas, and now having been there over a year, would drive two if we needed to. Part of me wants to keep it as a best kept secret and not tell anyone how great it is. BAT is a great place for your dancer to get the highest quality training. If your dancer is a hard worker and wants to succeed, this studio will provide the training for success.

My child started to take the ballet class when she was 3 and 1/2 years old. It was 2015. The first teacher was nice and kind to my child. However, when we changed the class, we had a different teacher. She was not kind. The teacher gave my child timeout twice in class. She was sitting on the floor. She was placed in a position of shaming to face the children and parents viewing. I think that was so mean to little girl. I saw other kid from different culture doing the same thing. The kid never had timeout on the floor. Since that incident, my child never wanted to go back to ballet class. The sad thing is that her unkindness and mean act took away a little childs interest.

This is a wonderful school! As a former ballerina who studied at SAB in New York and trained at PNB in Seattle, this school is top-notch. I wish it had been around years ago when I was studying ballet here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The teachers are highly skilled and are wonderful with children of all ages. Ours have been at the school for five years and they just adore it and all their teachers. I cant recommend this school enough! If you want the best training around, this is the place.

Owner was a judge for Ballet West Summer Intensive auditions. She had her students in the auctions as well. She taught her students certain steps a week earlier, so when they were asked to do them during the audition, they were familiar with it. Very unprofessional and would never send my daughters there after this was brought to my attention.

My daughters (age 4 and 6) just finished up their year at BAT. Their in-class experience was good but we were sorely disappointed in the recital. Each of my childrens classes was combined with other classes for the recital performance. They blocked and ran the dance ONE time at the dress rehearsal which was the day of the recital. It wasnt a full dress rehearsal and it was extremely rushed. The girls had never danced together and because their places were different from when they danced in class, they were totally confused. My expectations were not high for the 4 year old but it was annoying to watch the 6 year olds class be so confused about placement in the dance. They did encourage us to bring our children to the other class...by sending home a verbal message with our child that we should take them to another class sometime to dance with the other girls. There was no organized effort to have the girls practice together and it was unclear whether this class would require another fee, etc. or when that class was. If youre going to combine classes, I feel like this needs to be done in a clear and consistent manner with required rehearsals that are not THE DAY OF THE SHOW.My preference would be not to combine classes and to have a younger age recital as needed or a studio show. It is better for the children to actually perform their dance than to watch the dancers all lose their place multiple times in the show (see PB2 in the 7 PM show).Additionally, I felt that the music selection was repetitive and hard to follow. I understand the value of classical music to ballet but would it kill anyone to have the little girls dance to a song with a clear start and/or words to allow them to find their places? At the end of the day, none of this is a big deal. Its 4 and 6 year old dancing. It is disappointing when comparing to our previous experience, however, where the girls took a 45 minute class and learned two, well choreographed dances which the girls learned easily with easy to follow music. Having a successful recital experience is more important at this age than that it adhere to perfectly classical ballet. Its clear that the focus on the older students at this school and indeed there was significant talent and strong choreo for those students. I just wish the littlest students had more opportunity to show what they had learn by not overcomplicating the situation with challenging music and shoving all the classes together.

Ballet Academy of Texas is an exceptional dance school with extraordinary dance teachers! My daughter has been a student at BAT for almost 5 years now. She started as a 4 year old in Pre-ballet 1 with Allison Dautueil and has had both Lindsey Daniel and Allison as her teachers since then. There are some stark differences between the Ballet Academy and other dance schools in the area and Im so grateful that we found the Ballet Academy of Texas for my daughters dance education. BAT focuses on technique and it is a ballet school true to the spirt of classical, traditional and elegant ballet unlike other dance schools that lack elegance and sophistication. My daughter has friends who attend other dance schools in the area and we are shocked at their ostentatiousness of performances, ghastly costumes and makeup which defeat the purpose of ballet. The Ballet Academy delivers sophisticated dance forms with the utmost simplicity focusing on the relevant. My goal is to always choose the best for my daughter, and I did my thorough research before I picked the Ballet Academy. The Ballet Academy makes students want to go to dance classes. It offers a very calm and relaxed dance atmosphere and I love that the students dont feel the pressure of dance competitions, and I dont feel the pressures of a stereotypical Dance Mom like I see in other schools. My daughter is learning to appreciate true, classical ballet and I love that she is not caked in layers of makeup for her performances. I love that students dance in simple ballet costumes...ballet tights and leotards. No tutus. Like I mentioned, BAT focuses on form and technique and keeps away from the ostentatiousness that other dance studios in the area are famous for.
