I was here for a tour last week. The facility is very nice and so is the staff. I really like the simulation hospital. Im not applying to this program but I hope I get to use the equipment because it looks cool.

I went here for a few semesters to the SONHS simulation hospital, very disappointed. Faculty and staff very unprofessional. Heard other students complaining as well. I made a very poor choice coming here. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. DO NOT COME TO THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AT UM

If I could give the University of Miami zero stars I would. I graduated from the accelerated program in December 2015 and everything about the school of nursing is a disaster. The counselors have absolutely no clue what is going on, most of the professors are terrible, and you will learn absolutely nothing. The biggest mistake I ever made was going to this overpriced nursing program. If you have other options, I would strongly consider going elsewhere...Stay far far far away from this program.

DO NOT ATTEND NURSING SCHOOL HERE!!! The hoops you have to deal with for the price you pay will drive you insane. They are disorganized and the majority of the instructors literally read off their slides. The school uses what is called HESI and the instructors have never taken one! They teach to their own exams and think that prepares you for the standardized HESI tests. COME AT YOUR OWN RISK! There is reason why there are few reviews and the ones that are on here are complaints.

It is sad to find out that employees talk bad about student that are persistent in reaching their goals by asking questions. My daughter was informed by a former student that she was not excepted because she was to persistent and staff did not care for it. it was not that their was not enough seats available. As a mother and employee it is sad that thinks like this happen to what people call the numbe r5 university in the state of florida, thank you God for helping her enter Nova University they like persistent students.

UM’s School of Nursing is a very hard program and is not the best nursing program. They have this HESI speciality exam which is worth 25% of your grade. If you have a C or B in a class and if you get less than a 800 on a HESI speciality exam you are at risk of failing the class. Also, if you fail two classes you will be dismissed from the nursing program. If you failed more than one HESI exams but still ended up passing the class then you just have to complete the HESI remediation program which doesn’t help or replace your grade in the class. This program offers no tutoring, you cannot retake the HESI exams, cannot retake lecture exams, the professor availability and hours are very limited, and the lecture exams are very challenging. I just wish this program offered more HESI review sessions and offer more opportunities for students to pass the HESI. This school picks very strong, hardworking students that have the potential pass the NCLEX their first try. At the same time, a lot students are cramming information after information for the HESI exams during finals not learning anything. Overall, this nursing program is very overpriced because your at private university and the nursing school does not have a lot fundings to support their students. In order to succeed in this program just try your best with taking very good notes in class and work on your time management skills.

I graduated from as a ARNP on 2018 from this school. I have no words to describe the professors and staff there : They are superb and outstanding people. I have no words to thank all of them : Dr.Ortega , Dr.Gonzalez , Dr. Briones ,Dr. Mesa , Dr. Zdanowicz , Dr.McCabe ,.my Clinical preceptors Dr. Jose A Gonzalez ,MD and Dr.Tara Sturstman. and the staff Gisela ,Nick and Marisa. Yes, the tests were very though ,but the quality of the classes and the materials are excellent. If you want a good ARNP school choose this one if you really want to be a well-prepared Nurse practitioner.

I ran out of space in my previous review so I am continuing here.I decided to reach out to the Provost office and bring up my concern. I am then informed they would reach out to the SON and address this concern. Sure enough after brining up the fact that I was denied admission because of my pending course, I have Mr. Kilpatrick that now says the reason I was denied was because my prerequisite GPA was just below the minimum. This raised more concern because again I do not understand how I get accepted into Johns Hopkins which has a higher minimum GPA and not UM. Upon viewing Mr. Kilpatrick email I see that they incorporated courses into my GPA that did not need to be taken into account, and of course those courses caused a discrepancy in my GPA. I bring forth that they made a mistake in their calculation and then I get a response from Ms. Cindy Munro stating We have a standardized process for calculating GPAs that is applied consistently to every application; your GPA was calculated using the same process that was used for every other application. I will also reiterate Assistant Dean Kilpatrick’s statement that we use a holistic application review with multiple data points- GPA is only one element of the application. Again I try to explain to her that they incorporated courses that didnt need to be accounted for in my GPA and send the proof that shows discrepancy and from that point forward I have gotten ignored.DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND IF YOU ARE READING THIS REFRAIN FROM APPLYING TO UM. THE STAFF AT THE SON IS INCOMPETENT, AND DO NOT HAVE ANY FORM OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I GUESS THE FIRST COMMENT MADE ON THIS REVIEW ABOUT PERSISTENCY STAYS TRUE. SON AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI IS BY FAR THE WORST SCHOOL ANYONE CAN APPLY TO! SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE IF YOU CAN.
