I knew from the first class my son attended that this was a great studio. It has that special something that makes both the children and parents happy to be there and engaged in the program. We just joined after our trial period and I’m so excited for my son to continue as an official member of Impact. Keep up the great work, Impact Team!
My daughter (3yrs) has been going for a few months now and its been great for her focus and attention! The instructors are very friendly and patient with the kids. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to improve their toddlers listening and/or social skills! Not to mention self defense, she looks forward to it every week!
Best karate in Connecticut. Professional instructors, clean inviting studio in a great section of Cromwell. The instructors don’t just teach karate, they care about the people they are teaching.My daughter has been with them since she was 4 years old and now is going on 9. She has grown so much over the years. She struggles with self confidence, karate has been the main thing that has kept that under control. I give the credit to caring instructors.We travel over 35 minutes one way to get to the studio, passing many others on the way. It’s worth it! Highly recommended.
My son and I are super pleased with Impact Martial Arts! The staff has amazing, understanding, helpful and super accommodating. Pricing is super reasonable also! I would recommend IMA to all interested in this martial art!
This is a great program for any kid or adult. We started our son with Impact Martial Arts because he is very hyperactive and needs exercise and discipline outside of school. He is making friends as well as learning Self-Control, Self-discipline, and Respect! This is a great form of engagement for him and many of the other students. I love the environment so much, I signed up myself and have been enjoying every step.
My son really likes karate. He takes the classes. Karate teach him much more than karate 3 principal ie Respect, Self discipline and self control. He imconfidence grow and he has become more responsible. All instructors do a phenomenal job. The main instructor, Mr.Markiv is very supportive and he encourages his students with very positive attitude. Kids really enjoy meeting each other in different settings.I want to thank everyone at Impect Martial Arts for their contribution for building a stronger generation.
You never know how little ones will react to new sports and new classes and whether or not it will be successful. Mr. Markiv is amazing with the little ones! My four year old was calm, listened and confidently tried new things. Orest is incredibly patient and driven and finds new ways of learning while the kids are having fun. Don’t hesitate bring your preschoolers they will have a blast, learn more self control and get exercise and as a parent I can’t ask for anymore!
Impact has figured out the exact balance of discipline, instruction, and fun! They have given my daughter, who often struggles to feel included due to developmental delays and physical disabilities, a way to feel involved with her peers and confident in her abilities. She looks forward to her classes every week and we could not be more grateful for their patience and guidance!
Impact Martial Arts has the BEST instructors. The space is excellent and they are super flexible and easy to work with (not just because of COVID). Theyre incredibly encouraging and will work with you to help you achieve your goals. I absolutely love this place!

Mr Markiv has been working with my son for over 8 years. He has taught him more than just martial arts, he has instilled 3 rules that have carried with him...self respect, self discipline and self control. He is someone the kids look up to, and I highly recommend his studio.

Impact Martial Arts is the best karate school in CT!I started training with Mr. Markiv and Mrs. Feldman two years ago and they’re not only incredible martial artists, but they truly care about their students, the goals we set, and helping us be the best we can be.As an adult student, I’ve seen an improvement in my stress reduction (hitting bags helps!) and my mental health. We get to do a mix of cardio, karate and (my personal favorite) stretching!I’ve also had the opportunity to occasionally teach the 3/4 and 5/6 year old classes. The improvements we see in the students’ focus, coordination, and listening skills are encouraging for us as instructors and (of course) exciting for the students’ parents!If you’re hesitating about getting started, don’t hesitate! Do the one-month trial, and you’ll see right away that this dojo and this sport are a great fit for you and your family!!
I have know Sensei Orest Markiv for 8 years now - since my daughter started training with him. From the onset he made a lasting and positive impression. He and his staff were the reason why we chose his school. He is exceptionally talented and highly committed to his students.
