This place is so amazing that my son, husband, and I take classes here. I appreciate Gerson and the wifey so much! They are some of the nicest most welcoming people I have ever met but dont get on their bad side because they will kick your butt lol. I really do enjoy the workouts and drills they have us do in order to be fit for jujitsu. This is definitely not easy but its sure worth it.The people here are great and they wont judge you if you do something wrong. If anything they will try to help you understand the movement which is nice specially when you are new.I would definitely recommend Gersons to anyone and everyone but specially women. In fact ts so good,that I dont mind walking down the street as a 5ft 1inch 1/2 woman. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT HERE!!!

I was in town for work and decided to drop in for class. Great drills, awesome instruction (Professor Gerson Sanginitto), welcoming group and tough rolls. If you’re new to the sport or just passing through town, this is an awesome spot to train.

I was in a tough place in my life. Divorced, two young kids, working full time, and had to move out of my condo because I couldnt afford my mortgage, child support and alimony all at the same time. I had gained 20+ pounds from unhealthy eating habit I had developed and had zero motivation, not just for getting in shape, but all else in life. Honestly, at times, I wanted to quit. Give it all up and give in.I had driven by GSBJJ academy hundreds of times on my way to work and back home. I clearly remember one Saturday when I walked in with my kids just to check it out, but mostly to kill some time. Gerson asked me to come in and try a class. That was almost 7 years ago and Ive been there ever since and I have zero intentions of quitting any time in the future. My kids also train with Gerson and probably one of the best decisions Ive ever made for my kids as far as self defense and discipline. The level of instruction and emphasis on technique is off the charts. Everyone is humble, friendly, and welcoming. All higher ranking belts are eager to put you to sleep, but more eager to guide you. I also love the family environment GSBJJ puts out for everyone. Some go to the beach, some go camping, yoga, meditate, etc. I train.

Wow...amazing!! This is a real teacher...in a Rocky style dojo....looks like he trains killers...even though the killers look so meek and humble...and they treat you with repect!! They make you feel at home...and you learn real bjj !! You will love each class that seems to go by so quickly because of all the fun your having while learning bjj....

If you are travelling through LA and want a truely great experience. Go and train with these guys. Gerson leads a friendly and welcoming culture in his academy. High level, technical and hard rolls with great instruction! Im from Australia and have trained at as many clubs as possible on this tour of California and this, for me, was my favourite place to train! If u live in LA, man, you are spoilt for choice but dont look passed Gersons academy.

I started at this school about a year ago and WOW what an experience! I highly recommend that you, at least, visit Gersons Brazilian jiu jitsu academy for the following reasons:1. The instructor, Gerson, teaches every move with passion and with lots of details, gives a fair amount of attention to each person for every drill, and gives a lot of constructive feedback when doing something incorrectly.2. You will find awesome training partners who train safely and technically, but hard and tough at the same time.3. If you are looking for a competition team, this place has tournament fever. There usually is someone who is competing so you can go compete together.4. The mats are cleaned at least 2x or 3x a day.5. People are clean here. I dont smell that nasty funk on peoples gis like I did at other jiu jitsu academies. Also, everyone wears a rashguard so you dont have to worry about people rubbing their sweaty chest/stomach hairs on you when you are rolling.On a personal note, I told myself that I would never join a tournament, but after getting a few months of direct instruction from Gerson and his highly qualified instructors, I had to try it out. I ended up getting 2 bronzes 1 silver and 1 gold in two tournaments! This boosted my confidence in jiu jitsu and in LIFE to another level and it is all because of Gerson Sanginitto Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.So yea...this place is awesome! Come by and train with us!
