Senssei Nahan is a remarkably talented martial artist and instructor. He is intelligent, patient and has a wonderful sense of humor. His teaching reflects that he loves what he is doing. His programs provide all--children, men and women-- with an environment where they they will be safe, learn discipline, self-defense, self control and lots of fun with a great workout. Kempo Karate of Darien was an incredible find! Ive always wanted to enroll my 5-year old son in martial arts and after speaking to Sensei Nahan, I immediately knew that this was the right place for us. Aside from his obvious martial arts talent, Sensei Nahan is incredibly patient and kind, while commanding respect and discipline from his students. (I wish he offered parenting classes, frankly! :) ) The classes are a great mix of activity - stretching, cardio, martial arts techniques, mental exercise and games - the kids love it and come out tired - what more could a mom want?! My son has already grown so much in the few short months weve been attending - from shy and insecure with a fainter voice to confident and strong with a more assured voice - its been truly wonderful to see! I cant say enough good things about the program and Sensei Nahan!

Sensei Nahan is a truly patient, warm and fun martial arts teacher. My three and a half year old was looking to make new friends and engage in an activity that was both high-energy and unique! Kempo Karate of Darien provides both and more. I can honestly say my son looks forward to this class every week.Sensei Nahan teaches the kids to be respectful and kind while learning a new skill. He also mixes up the routine each class, making the lessons engaging and enjoyable to watch. My son loves receiving a star every class and is learning to earn merits through hard work and perseverance. I have talked to many other parents in the area about karate programs, and am so glad our family chose Kempo Darien.

My daughter was introduced to Kempo Academy of Darien through her schools after the bell program...she liked it so much , after the program at school ended I signed her up for classes in Darien. Its wasnt just a great extra curricular activity, it has helped her with self confidence, self pride, discipline and team work. The instructors are fabulous, they have a unique fun way of instructing - the children dont even realize they are learning....but oh man are they ever!

Sensei Nahan and the kempo karate dojo is a wonderful place. My son has learned discipline in a great environment while building friendships and learning to push his body to the next level. The classes are great for all ages. The virtual classes are a nice add on addition to keep kids moving. I cannot say enough positive things about the dojo!

They have helped my son with self-esteem. Hes not afraid to speak up, and he loves who he is. Hes taught discipline, and how to treat others, and to keep his hands to himself,also to find an adult of something escalates out of his control. They teach and instil in children what we do at home, but it seems to make more sense to them when other children their age are being taught the same.Its a great school at an affordable price.

Kempo has been a great learning experience for my 3 sons. They are doing better in school and have more discipline.

Kempo runs a wonderful after school program in our preschool. The children enrolled are learning wonderful skills including discipline and martial arts. The senseis are knowledgeable, personable and engaging. They have wonderful communication with the parents and are studied instructors.

My son, Michael Nahan, has had a passion for martial arts for many years and started training at a very young age. And, while I couldnt be more proud of his outstanding accomplishments, I believe his teaching skills and his ability to connect with his students are among his strongest attributes. I have known many of his students and colleagues personally, and they are great achievers, dedicated, and appreciative of his guidance.

So knowledgeable and kid friendly from 4 years to 14 years old and beyond. Kempo Academy really knows how to communicate with all ages to motivate and inspire at every skill level!

Kempo Academy of Darien rocks! The kids love the training and direction they receive from the incredibly qualified instructors. The studio space itself is gorgeous...lots of windows, soothing colors, tasteful decor and a newly built-out bathroom with shower is really helpful for families on the go. Plus the fully stocked Keurig coffee station (for the parents of course!) is a thoughtful touch on Sensei Nahans part.An excellent choice on any parents part to have their child try at least one class!

Sensei Nahan and his team have created an excellent learning environment at Kempo Darien. The skill, focus, and confidence gained by kids is noteworthy.

My daughter has been a part of the Kempo Darien family since 2011. She used to watch Sensei Nahan teach his classes and one day he approached us and asked if shes interested. Long story short, shes now a Junior Black Belt! The program teaches respect, focus and discipline and the instructors are very dedicated, patient and caring. A huge thank you from our family for your continued hard work, for providing an environment where kids can gain confidence and be themselves and for being great role models.

A fun Academy for learning . The Sensis are very involved and make sure all kids are learning different aspect of the Kempo. Respect and hardwork are this Dojos building blocks which are highly emphasised .The hours and classes are quite flexible which is an added Plus.
