The school has a great support staff and behaviorist who work with the behavior among students who have problems. They provide moral and additional academic help for students needing to pass state tests. It is a lot of work and meetings but there is a sacrifice in being a dedicated teacher.

I’m so sick of this school. It’s just everything. Absolutely everything. They don’t allow the kids to enter the building until 7:40 and cut off breakfast at 7:50 so even though my kids insist on eating at school I have to pack them food in case the drop off line is too long and they miss breakfast. Then, even though the class bell doesn’t ring until 8:00 you’re considered tardy if you’re not in the building by 7:55 because they have to be able to take lunch orders before class starts. They have to take lunch orders because they don’t have a cafeteria! Any hot food that is served is cooked in a microwave. And if there is a bad wreck with an abnormally long back up on the main road leading to the school and all the parents are calling in about it... too bad. Automatic unexcused tardy which equals 1/3 of their day even if they get there at 7:57! That’s right even if they don’t actually miss any class time they are marked tardy for 1/3 of the day! Unless of course they ride the bus. There are constant problems with bullying so when your kid finally stands up for themselves be prepared for YOUR kid to get suspended or expelled no matter how many times the issue has been brought to the attention of school officials. Then there is the unfairness. Uniforms are supposed to create equality BUT you can pay to let your kid wear street cloths about once a week. Then every other week or so is treat day BUT you have to pay for that too and your kid has to remember to bring home the order form before it’s due which doesn’t always happen with a k-2 grader. So even though my kids have uniforms and expensive name brand shoes and jackets I don’t always have cash on me to pay for dress down days and treat days. I wonder how many kids are stuck in their uniforms and unable to get treats with the other kids because their parent forgot to grab cash or can’t afford it all the time.To continue with the supposed fairness. The fourth grade class goes on a trip each year. It not terribly expensive but a week before we go they spring some “fun extras” on us. For just $20 more per kids they can also do this or that activity BUT only there is only room for 25 kids out of about 100 so to make it fair we will pull names out of a hat and refund everyone else. Cool.

This school is absolutely horrible. I attended Pathway from Kindergarten to 8th grade and it was absolutely horrible. I was bullied RIGHT IN FRONT of my teachers and they did nothing. Classes were unorganized and messy. I felt like I missed out on so many opportunities because of this school. Unfair teachers, dirty school, nasty students. This school doesn’t even have a cafeteria! Pathway prides itself on taking money from its students. The only thing I got out of going to Pathway was depression from the mental torment of other students. Take it from me, a former student, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO PATHWAY SCHOOL OF DISCOVERY.

My daughter has been going to this school all for 1 month, and this is absolutely the worst school possible! Their resolution to bullying is victim shamming, because children should not react emotional! I wish I never sent my child to this school! Honestly the state needs to be involved it’s so bad!

Never bring your children to this school, PERIOD. 9 years ago we moved from this school immediately. They treat children like the military and if they do not have their uniforms in a specific way, they’re supposed to face consequences. Also, if your kid makes a small mistake, he/she has to get in trouble over it, really? Also, have I forgotten to mention that they threw away my dessert and embarrassed me in front of the whole class on the school thanksgiving day. Also, the security is abusive and they grab children under 5 like a doll and drag them to the office like a maniac.I’ve also heard many other horrible stories in the reviews, so just in case if you’re looking for a school for your kid to go to, this is not the spot for you!

My sons teacher is abusive and relenting. My child has come home from school many times in tears or near tears because of the way she treats him. He has woken up in the middle of the night and cried to his mom not to make him go. His teacher has slammed his desk down, forced him to sit alone and not participate and made derogatory marks toward him. If I could rate this a zero star I would and if you love your children and value their education then I implore you not to send them here. My son is now in a public school, doing much, much better and actually wants to go.

Ive been here from 4th to 8th and it is absolutely terrible. They do nothing about bulling except tell them not to do, the uniforms are dumb because everyone looks the same and they treat studients like it millitary. The only thing people get from here is depression. There food is also like prison food and taste like its made from plastic. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE.

This school has a serious problem wth sexual harassment, sexual assault, and bullying. The principle of the school is completely unwilling to take steps to address the issues (or even punish those responsible) and shows no interest in setting up plans to prevent future problems. If you are considering sending your child to this school I implore you to reconsider.

I used to love this school for the education. That was before my child was sexually assaulted. I went to the school several times devastated. I called the bus transportation. I called NHA. Everyone pointed me to the principal. Not only was nothing done for days on end. But the kid was sat next to her in class and continued to assault her. Three weeks of complaints falling on deaf ears. They moved the child to another class. No concern for the girls in that class. He wouldnt let me meet with the parents. He wouldnt tell me what he was going to do. Three weeks of daily assaults. I had no choice but to yank her from school. I had to get my child councilling. This was 2 years ago. I have talked to different parents over the years. Ive heard so many other parent stories. Its ur job as a parent to protect your children. This school will not do it

A bit of a story time. I was in elementary, a public school I will not disclaim. I was bullied to a point where by 4th grade I was constantly in tears, not eating, not doing my classwork, and even being sent home early. My parents moved me to pathways in middle school, hoping for a better place. So many of these reviewers are too privileged to know what it would be like if you sent your kid to a public school like huber or Dayton. You think pathways doesnt handle it? Neither do these schools, my old school blamed my parents. Pathways, even after my school labeled me as a troubled kid, gave me a choice and gave me a way to try to handle all the hate I grew over my public school life. The teachers helped me adapt to life and I even made friends, something I never had before that. I was never blamed for any bullying I received at pathways, unlike the public school I spent my elementary years and now spending my high school years.Im a senior now and I can tell you all that nothing gets better. Ive been bullied relentlessly by certain people, Im pretty sure if I didnt go to pathways I would have never became confident enough to go through all Ive had too. Even when it came down to me being blamed here, for none of the administration believing me, I still can remember that I cant avoid being picked on because, sadly, its unavoidable for the people who arent understood to be attacked. Im sorry to say it to all the parents and students who are complaining, but honestly what you need is to stop caring about what they say, just remember that youre better than them.

I went to this school from kindergarten to 5th grade. I never liked the uniforms because I felt I couldn’t really express myself, and I hated going shopping for uniforms and how the dress code would get more strict. I also noticed when they started Be Nice, people would still get bullied and some of the teachers wouldn’t do anything. I am a hands on learner, and I love science. I really wanted to do fun experiments, and we hardly did any. Same with projects. I love doing them, but we rarely did them. With the learning curriculum, I felt I wasn’t learning very much between the years. I had good experiences too. We went on a few fun field trips, we had an art and music class, and all of my teachers were nice to me. In 5th grade, I decided I was done with pathway. I wanted to go to the Dayton Regional STEM School because I heard about their really unique learning curriculum. I have been going to STEM for 2 years now, and I know how to code using Python and HTML5, I know how to give good critique, and I know what it’s like to express through art and style. So pathway, here’s some critique for you.Yellow Hat(What you did well): Most of the teachers were nice.Black Hat(What you didn’t do well): Learning was boring and wasnt interactive. Too strict in uniforms.Green Hat(what you could change): Maybe you could try to add more projects, at least TRY to stop bullying, make uniforms less strict, and try to incorporate different kinds of learning styles to lessons. Ex: instead of using textbooks, watch a video and answer questions, or use Kahoot.it.Red Hat(What I feel about Pathway): I feel I dodged a bullet by reading other ratings. I still have friends that go to pathway and they hate it.I really like STEM and how I haven’t used textbooks because that is what makes learning boring. This is your childhood. Would you rather Learn by having fun, or doing it the boring way? I will never return to pathway. I just wasn’t challenged.-EveP.S. I hate how you got rid of the library. I was going to donate a book I wrote to you, but I couldn’t because you got rid of it.

I’ve had one too many issues with pathway today was the final straw... I went in to talk to the lunch lady about my child’s account because they’ve been ripping off my fourth grader. She was irritated because we “had this talk Friday” I needed more clarity because I was confused. We became very frustrated with each other and she starts to pound and punch the desk the secretary secretly calls a large man out who comes to stand over my back like I’m a animal.(Come to find out it’s her husband and this isn’t professional anymore he’s mad from the heart wish I’d know that before going into that room with them) We then go into a room where I’m explaining my issue... He’s giving me the side eye and being combative coming back with a negative punchline after everything I say MIND YOU MY WHOLE PURPOSE IS TO FIND OUT WHATS GOING ON WITH MY DAUGHTERS LUNCH!!!! This man then tells me to get out I said no what’s going on with the lunch money he started threatening me that he’s gonna call the police LIKE OH YEAH SHES SCARED NOW???? I’m not a criminal never broken the law WHY SHOULD I BE AFRAID AND WHY DIDNT THEY CALL THEM IF THEY REALLY FELT THEY NEEDED THEM??? SO ITS OK TO THREATEN PARENTS WITH COPS IF YOU DONT WANT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND STILLL THE MAIN QUESTION WHERE IS THE CASH IM GIVING THESE PEOPLE FOR MY DAUGHTERS LUNCH GOING???? I NEVER GOT THE ONLY ANSWER I NEEDED!!! PAY ATTENTION TO THE REVIEWS THE PARENTS ARE NOT MAKING THESE PROBLEMS UP ME AND MY FAMILY ARE PULLING OURS KIDS FROM THE National heritage academies after this school year 😪

A lot of these parents on here are truly lying about there expierence with Pathway School of Discovery. Pathway is an absolute great school to put your child in and I’ve been going here since 5th grade now going into 8th. None of these parents probably truly know what’s going on in and at the school, because maybe their child is not telling the full truth and instead of insisting to call the school and find the full truth they take it upon theirselves to believe what they heard. I do totally understand that that is your child, but sometimes kids lie and I can tell you that myself because I do too and I’m still a child. Other than that I can only really say one bad thing and that is the lunches I believe they should give us a better food selection rather than A and B lunches and that would be nice. And the lie about food being cooked in a microwave is honestly ridiculous. We have a cafeteria. We have ovens. That is just so stupid. Really. Pathway is a great school and I definitely recommend sending your child here!

Way too many issues... One of my children did great... Drugs were present through her years.. In other students... My second child was repeatedly suspended for many minor infractions... Labeled... And almost expelled. I pulled him out. My youngest... Is bullied... Assaulted... And I am inches away from turning to 2news. For being a charter school that prides themselves on student moral and behavior... Doesnt seem as if the school is living up to its own standards...
